Display content area to PUBLIC but hide once logged on?

Is there any way to display a content area or folder to the PUBLIC user but then hide it once the user has logged on?
I currently have a folder whose contents are marked "Make Public"; this is displayed inside a portlet on my opening page. However, even if I build a new page, place either the folder or the folder's portlet on this new page, publish this new page as a portlet, and grant access to this new page to only the PUBLIC user, this folder is always displayed for both public and logged on users. Is there any way to hide this for logged on users? (I did see the 12/4/01 "Display portlet only to public user" thread, but this didn't seem to work for a content area page.)

I have a page with a list view web part. I am applying multiple filter parameters to it: I have to display documents for all US locations (general) and also filtered view of documents for user's office location. I am setting the user location Cookie and
i have configured webpart with Param to read it. Second filter value is hard-coded (Non-specific location). It all works FINE when i set the list View to expand all groups by default. The problem starts when I set it to be collapsed from the start:
Collapsed group shows correct number of items to be inside but when i expand it, the 1 extra LOCAL item filtered by {PARAM} is missing from inside this expanded group. Only items filtered by a "hardcoded text param" are being shown. And
again - when i change the view and set it to be expanded by default - ALL items are being shown without any problem! Only thing that breaks it - setting of collapsed-expanded for this view groups. nothing else.
Any suggestion on how to work with this thing?
I can't make all groups expanded by default - too many documents, but it only time when it works.
I tried changing view design, other characteristics, but nothing makes it change the behavior so far.
I really want o avoid creating custom "hardcoded" views for each location where location is predefined instead of dynamically read it from cookie. For me it looks like something is connected with PARAM as only these items are affected by this weird
behavior. Thank you in advance!

I have tried the method you have mentioned, but the jquery function is not working to collapse the groups.
I have tried 2 approaches, but none of them is working fully:
1) Raising the Click event as follows

TEXT AREA - Not able to display contents more than length 4000

We use textarea item to display contents of xml .
But if the content is of size more than 4000 , we are not able to display it in text area.
Any suggession / workaround for this .. please help.

A simple workaround is to write a function returning this text and use "PL/SQL Function Body" as a "source type" for this textarea. This way you edit text up to 32kB (limit of HTML input item)

Portlet could not be contacted error in content area

hi everybody,
i've developed an application using Portal Content Area.And i am
accessing the content Area
like "http://<servername>/pls/portal30/url/folder/<Content area
name>".
But when i access it shows "Error : Portlet could not be
Contacted".then when i press refresh it opens the content Area.
Now i badly in need of avoiding that portlet error and directly
go to content area.
Pl. help me.

I strongly recommend upgrading to the 3.0.9 release (iAS
1.0.2.2) with the 3.0.9.8.2 patch (this patch should be
available for NT/2000 this week). Also, the database should be
running 8.1.7.1 (or later), as explained in the iAS release
notes.

The 'Edit folder' link doesn't appear in content area portlet (URGENT)

Hi! I made three content areas, and published them as portlets in a page. However, when I enter the page as an authorized user, I don't see the 'Edit folder' link on any content area portlet. But if I enter to any of the content area pages with the same user, I see the link
Is this a bug? What could be the reason?

try this...
Edit the page where you added the portlets. Click the edit defaults link next to each of the portlets and scroll down to make sure the show Edit Link checkbox is checked. I don4t see any Edit Link checkbox when I edit the portlet's defaults!!

Content Area Privileges : Is this a bug

We have the following scenario:
1.Create content area 'con' as portal30.
2. Assigned authenticated_users group privileges of 'Make Public' on this content area.
All logged in users can now see all items in this content area.
Next we
removed authenticated_users group privileges from this content area.
However even now all logged in users can see all items in the content area.
Is this a bug?? Doesn't removing the authenticated_users group privileges prevent all users except portal30 from accessing the content area.

Check the root folder properties of your 'Con' CA and make sure that you have 'unchecked' the 'Make Public' checkbox.

Accessing computers that are turned on but not logged in

I have a network of about 60 win 7 Pro PCs, which are all on, but not always logged in. I would like to be able to access the shares on these machines at any time, but so far can only do so if the machine is logged in and active.
In XP, all the machine had be was on. How do I do this for Win 7?

Accessing remote shared folders is not in conflict with the fact that any users is logged (or not logged). For connectivity only one port is opened (445).
You can do a research with network monitor to pinpoint what you need to open.

How to hide content area name in portlet?

When I add category portlet, it'll show content area name as
sub banner. I want to hide it. But I want to hide sub banner

Hi Sirin,
Try this:
Go to Navigator -> 'Content Area' tab select 'Edit Root Folder'
click the 'Style' tab click the style properties link ->
'Folder Layout' tab click on 'sub folder' edit link, unmark
display region banner check box.
You can do the same procedure when you edit your folder and
click 'Folder style' follow the above next steps

Display the reports under all subfolders at a time in the content area?

In SAP EP portal,We have a requirement to display few reports wherein we have 7 roles with the same names but different ID's and they are merged together so that even if the users have 7 roles assigned he will see only 1 tab in the first level navigation and uder that there will be one folder at the second level.Now the requirement is like this
1st level navigation : Role Name
2nd level navigation :Folder Name
Detailed Navigation : Folder Name
                                 Sub Folder Name
                                 Sub -sub folder1 Name
                                 Reports   --(one or many)
                                 Sub -sub folder2 Name
                                 Reports   --(one or many)
                                 Sub -sub folder3 Name
                                 Reports   --(one or many)
Under al the sub-sub folders a workset map iview is added to display the reports with a pictogram in the content area.In the detailed navigation, as soon as the user clicks on the Sub folder the user should be able to see the reports under all the Sub-sub folders( Sub-sub folder1,Sub-sub folder2,Sub-sub folder3) .But currently the user has to explicitly click on each of the Sub-sub folders to view the reports(thrice in this case).Plz give a solution in which all the reports under the 3 Sub-sub folders should appear simultaneouly in the content area at a single click on Sub Folder

Can't locate email content? All of a sudden my email content has disappeared from inside MacMail? The actual emails are coming through but I am unable to view them as the area is just left blank! Nothing has been done to have changed this?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Webdynpro iveiws gets displayed only half the of Content Area with scroll

Dear Experts,
We are running on EP 7.0 SP13 and I have some webdynpro Iviews. Now when i'm in default framework page-desktop i'm getting the normal full screen view of the WD iview screen. But when i use lightframework page-desktop, the content area gets split into two with the lower half blank and the upperhalf displays the WD iview with a vertical scroll, and its not coming to full page.
Kindly suggest how to overcome this. I know certain functionalities will not work with WD iview and Light framework, but i dont think it does have anything to do with content area.
Points will be awarded for sure.

What is the value of the Height Setting Property of your iview: Automatic, Fixed or Full-page?
Is the iview on a page or is the iview put in the role without a page?
I know for sure that some thing like EPCF are not availible in the Light framework.
What I do not know if the automatic height function that is triggerd (if you selected this property) is part of the EPCF framework.
If that is the case that could then explain this behaviour...
Maybe the SDN communitiy can fill me in on this last bit.

SAPUI5 Application doesn't display in Portal Content Area

Hallo Guys
We are developing a SAPUI5 application that needs to be displayed inside the portal.
The problem is that the SAPUI5 app doesn't display in in the content area, no erors, just a blank page, you have to set the iview to open in a seperate headerless window, then it works. But it needs to work in the content area.
Our findings: a possible cause is that the IE mode when inside the Portal content area is IE5 Quirks, and when it displays in a new window, the mode changes to a more recent and acceptable mode for SAPUI5, IE9.
Is there any solution to this? We get the same result with both URL iView and using the SAPUI5 iView in content provided by SAP. We are on NW 7.4

Hi Antonette,
As Lawrence explained the reason is indeed that quirks and standards mode can't run together on the same page (not only in portal but it's a limitation by MS).
Since your framework page is in IE5 quirks mode the UI5 application doesn't run in the content area, you can run it by selecting in the iView properties "Launch in a new headerless window (strandards)", that will open the UI5 application in a new window and will work.
If you wish to run UI5 applications in the content area you can get latest SP of 7.4 and there you will have a new framework page: standards AFP, basically an AFP framework page that works in standards mode.
In that framework page you can run UI5 applications in the content area, however trying to run old applications (HTMLB, not WD) may fail, for WD you have a paramater you need to pass called sap-ie, passing it with the value of "Edge" will make sure WD applications run in standards mode as well.
When running the AFP in standards mode you will need to open your HTMLB and other old applications in a new headerless window or new window so you can see the content.

Public user sees old content of items in content area/portlets

I have items in my Content Area, as pl/sql folders, text and pl/sql items. These are all published as portlets. Access is set to public. The content of these items have been altered a couple of times during development, and they work as they should when I4m logged in as a user.
However, when I access these items (both directly by an url to the content area and by an url to the page containing the portlets) as the public user (not logged in), the content of these items is old. The content could be several weeks old, actually it is possible that the displayed content is the original content of the specific item (as it was when I first created the items).
To me, it sounds like a cache issue, and I tried to set "Enable plsql caching" to "no", with no improvement.
What can I do to solve this?

You could try flushing the cache content by navigating to
$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplsql/cache
..and deleting the directories and all content beneath them.
This is guaranteed to cause a cache rewrite.
You should also set your page cache settings to 'Dont Cache' which will guarantee that the cache is not being used.
You can check the caching status of a portlet on a page by adding _debug=1 to the URL you are viewing.

How to display related links iview in content area?

Hi,
I have created Related links, but they are opening in a separate windows even though I have set the attribute of the iviews to "open in portal content area".
Please let me know how I can display the iviews of the Related links in the content area.

Hello Ashwini,
I don't think you have changed the property at the right place.
Open the iview for which related link is added. Now from the drop down box at the top right select Related Link. The related link editor will open which will show the related link iview. Select the iview and click the EDIT button at the bottom. The related link iview will open. Now Change the "Launch in new WIndow" property.
When you add an iview as reletd link to some other iview, a delta link is created and added to the iview.
This will solve ur problem.

Page cannot be displayed message ONLY on the content area of the portal

Hi All,
I am using Netweaver Portal 7.0 and the portal works fine if logged in as an end user. But when I'm logged in as Administrator and whenever I try to create a portal object (iview or pages etc), I get a page cannot be displayed message ONLY on the content area of the portal. It is happening quite frequently, any clue what is wrong here?
