DISPLAY ONLY CUSTOM MESSAGE WITH SRW.MESSAGE

Hi.I created a report with Report Builder 9i.I also created two form parameters of type date.I put inside the validation trigger in the property inspector the following plsql code.
function FROM_DATEValidTrigger return boolean is
v_date VARCHAR2(12);
date1 date;
begin
v_date := :from_date;
date1:=TO_DATE(v_date, 'DD/MM/YYYY');
return (TRUE);
EXCEPTION
WHEN OTHERS THEN
SRW.MESSAGE(546,'My Message');
return (FALSE);
end;
This code works fine.Supose the user input wrong data for example 29/02/2003 displays an alert message
with my custom message.But after this displays an another message from the Report Builder like this:
Rep-0546:Invalid parameter input.
My question is .Is it possible display only my custom message with the SRW.MESSAGE built in procedure?
Thanks in advance Panagiotis.

Hi,
I am using this function in my Validation process to display Error when user gives null input
function DEPT_IDValidTrigger return boolean is
begin
     -- Check for Null Value here
     if(:DEPT_ID is null) then
     raise SRW.NULL_ARGUMENTS;
     else
return true;
end if;
     Exception
          -- Exception For Null Value
when SRW.NULL_ARGUMENTS then
     srw.message(100, 'Please Enter Dept ID');
raise srw.program_abort;
end function ___ ;
Function is correct but the error message i am getting at the client side is as follows ::
"*MSG-00100: Please enter Dept IDREP-1419: 'dept_idvalidtrigger': PL/SQL program aborted.* "
It seems it is adding some system level error.
but i want only my custom message to be displayed on the client side ::
*"Please Enter Dept ID"*
Is this Possible in Oracle 6i.

    Hi All,
    I'm now using the web-based BEx. Recently I want to display a customized message (e.g. the usage of the report) on the first page (i.e. the variable entry screen) of the query. Is it possible?

  • How to validate concurrent program parameter and display a custom message?

    Hi Friends,
    I have a concurrent program which has two non-mandatory parameters.
    The requirement is that user should provide value for any one of the parameters.
    If user does not enter value for both the parameters, i need to display a custom error message.
    Parameter1 has an independent value set.
    Parameter2 has character value set with validation type as special.
    Process i tried so far:
    In the value set for the second parameter, under the Validate event, i have written the following code:
    FND PLSQL "declare
    l_paramb VARCHAR2(20) := :!VALUE;
    l_parama VARCHAR2(20) := :$FLEX$.MOT_CUSTMSGTST_A;
    BEGIN
    IF 1 = 1  THEN
    fnd_message.set_name('FND','FND_GENERIC_MESSAGE');
    fnd_message.set_token('MESSAGE','Please enter any of the ip1 or ip2');
    fnd_message.raise_error;
    END IF;
    END;" I am not using those variables that are defined for the time being.
    Now since the condition 1=1 is always satisfied, i should always receive the error message.
    I am not receving any error message and i can go ahead and submit the program..
    Please advise on where am i going wrong.

  • Display a custom message on click of a Top Level Navigation Object

    Hi Experts,
    when the user clicks on the top level navigation entry link(for any application), I would like a custom message to be displayed to the end-users which would be maintained in a text file in a KM folder.
    Currently, on click of the top level navigation link a  workset map is displayed. But now I would like to read the text file and display the message (if any) maintained in the text file.
    The message (if any) should be rendered before the workset map is displayed, or be rendered as an additional element on the same page as the workset map perhaps as an additional iView .
    It is essential that the message content should not be cached by the Portal (in other words, the deactivation of the system message should not require a cache flush to become visible to the user).
    The goal is to warn the users before they they access the applications of the workset map.
    Can someone please guide me on this???
    Regards,
    Anurag

    Hi,
    See some info regarding Portal Eventing:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce72/helpdata/en/a5/8d1e72c20f4db2b9f577b47c1a47da/content.htm
    In the link above you can see that it's possible to raise an event and subscribe to it.
    Each time you navigate in the portal, the portal raises the UpdateTLN event so all you need it to subscribe to it in an iview that is located on the same page.
    Since the masthead iview is in the same window (above the TLN - see the following link) you can put your javascript function in it.

  • How to handle ADF_FACES Errors/Exceptions and display customized message.

    Hi All,
    <b>My question here is, </b>
    Is there any way to handle the validation/PPR kind of run time exceptions/errors. I have tried to handle these errors by extending the lifecycle and overridden the reportErrors method. But this method is being called in the PREPARE_RENDER phase. But the exception is happening in the JSF_PROCESS_VALIDATIONS phase. I have tried to handle the exceptions in the custom PagePhaseListener. But these exceptions could not be handled in the custom PagePhaseListener.
    <b>I would like to display a customized message to the user instead of displaying the PPR exception</b>.
    The details are given below.
    I have a use case related to the security like if there is a drop down list in a page. Drop down list is having a af:validateRegExp component which allows only alphabets. Dropdown is populating alphanumeric values.
    One option is selected in the drop down list and submitted the value with the help of the commondbutton.
    With the help of some tools, we modified the submitted value(index of the list submitted) to some alphabets.
    <b>Its throwing some validation exception. Some of the statements are given below.</b>
    <UIXRegion> <_warn> Error processing viewId: /Validate_TF/validate URI: /validate.jsff actual-URI: /validate.jsff.
    java.lang.NumberFormatException: ADF_FACES-60034:SelectOne could not convert index 0asd

    ADF_FACES_60034:could not convert index
    ADF_FACES_60097:server exception
    ADF_FACES_60096: some exception occurred during PPR,
    <b>I don't want to show these kind of messages to user. Please suggest me whether is it possible or not.</b>

  • How to display a popup message in query (through process chain)

    Hi Gurus,
    I need your help.
    I have an input query that triggers an event (through a button) and runs a process chain.
    I would like to show a popup message to inform the user when the process chain is over.
    Using function modules I've been able to show popup messages in the workbench, but I want to display this message directly in Bex Analyzer 7.0.
    Thanks
    Gabbo

    Hi,
    I'm also looking for a solution to display a custom message in the Bex Analyser at logon.
    Using function module in the logon user-exit works but only when loggin to the workbench.
    I don't want to use SM02 (which works in both cases) because I need to display a variable message depending on the user.
    If someone has an idea, I'll really appreciate.
    Best regards and happy New Year to all of you.

  • Making Async custom message box

    I have created a Custom Message Box class which when called displays a message box on the current page. I have also provided buttons inside of message box to accept user preference. After the custom message box is added to the page execution of methods continue.
    I want to make the page wait until user opts an option from the message box just like existing MessageBox class.
    I have created a method show() which displays the custom message box on the current page. How do I make it async to stop the execution till an option is selected by the user?

    See
    Quickstart: Calling asynchronous APIs in  C# or Visual Basic and
    Asynchronous Programming with Async and Await for an overview of how the .Net async system works.
    The tl;dr for your scenario is to have your ShowAsync() method return a Task so it can be awaited:
    class CustomMessageDialog
    public Task ShowAsync()
    // Do whatever is needed to show the MessageDialog
    public Task<int> ShowAndReturnAsync()
    int indexChosen; // the index of the command picked by the user
    // Do whatever is needed to show the MessageDialog
    return indexChosen;

  • Displaying some other messages in quality ?

    Hi,
    I have created a dialog program and transported to quality, instead of displaying my custom message, its showing the message ' No vendor specified ' ,  for all the ztransaction  ( Vendor exists in Quality Server) ?
    Thanks,
    Siva

    Hi Siva kumar,
         Hope you created a message class along with your custom program . Did you transport the message class, if used. Usually this type of messages come up, if the Z- messages associated with it stored in the message class are not ransported to the quality or other servers.
    Please check the same and let me know if I am wrong.
