Display PDFs in Java window?

Hi,
I was wondering if Acrobat is the right product to buy in order to dispaly PDFs in my custom Java application. That is: does it come with a Java API (Java 1.4.2). I only need to display PDFs, nothing else. And I do not want to display the PDFs in a browser or Reader window, but inside my application (alongside with other information)
Will Acrobat Standard edition do, or will I need Acrobat Pro?

Acrobat does not come with a Java API, as Java is not a standard desktop development environment. Instead, it offers platform-native APIs in C/C++, COM/OLE and JavaScript.
On the server side, of course, our Livecycle products are all Java-based.

How do I run Adobe Reader to display pdf files in Windows 8?

I'm confused! Where is the executable for adobe pdf reader in windows 8? I want to launch it from powershell to display a pdf file. It used to be trivial in windows 7 but now the adobe pdf reader is an app and I cannot find the executable using the task
manager.
Can someone help me launch it from cmd.exe or powershell_ise to display a pdf file?
I just downloaded and installed the Adobe PDF reader and I cannot execute the reader c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe. I get no error messages and no GUI display. What is going on?

Hi,
As far as I know, that Windows 8 has a reader by default, it seems like it is Microsoft Reader. It could used to read PDF file. And I have not ever use powershell to manage to use it.
The PDF reader is a Modern UI app; we cannot run Modern UI apps on the desktop. So I don't think powershell could manage it.

Display xwindows in Java window

I'm wondering if it would be possible to display a single xwindow-based windows within a Java window (inside or outside of a web browser). This would be somewhat similar to VNC but only one window would be displayed, not the entire desktop. There would have to be input capabilities, of course. Thanks for any help!

I've kept binary file in MIME folder and I'm trying to read the contents of it. and I'm trying to display contents in pdf format in separate window.
For this I was able to read the file by using FileInputStream

I've to show this in external window. I created attribute "pdfResource" of type binary
and declared in the source
private ISimpleType myPdfDoc;
After that I added this bit of code in Init Method

((IWDModifiableBinaryType)myPdfDoc).setMimeType(WDWebResourceType.PDF);

After this I made an action handler which has following code.

First of all why do you need those three lines of code in your wdDoInit() ?
Simply, you may use this:

Display PDF from flex windows application

I am creating a flex windows application using action script and mxml script.I need help in displaying a PDF document in that windows application from a netwrok drive or local pc.I tried google search it is giving me some open source projects with IFrames.But,they can be only used for browser applications(web).So,anyone please suggest me how could i accomplish this task with winows application.

Since yesterday neither Safari 5.0.5 nor Firefox (latest vs.) will display PDFs in their windows. Black window for Safari, white window for Firefox. Anyone know how to solve this? Thanks

Go to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
Move these filess to the Trash.
PDF Browser Plug-in
AdobePDFVieweer.plugin
Relaunch Safari. See if that helped.

Displaying PDF in new Browser window

I have a question about displaying a invoices in pdf format in a new window. I read several threads about this, but I haven't been able to solve my problem.
I'm using following code:
append the pdf to the response
cl_wd_runtime_services=>attach_file_to_response(

The content (lx_pdf) is retrieved from a smartform, via the function module for the smartform in question, after which I convert the OTF Data (JOB_OUTPUT_INFO-OTFDATA) to XSTRING using FM SCMS_TEXT_TO_XSTRING. The returned data (buffer of type xstring) I use for afore mentioned method. But all I get to see is the following:

The text is correct, but it is not displayed as PDF in new window, and of course I'm not interested in all the formatting codes in front of every line??
I should be possible to display a pdf in a new browser window without having installed everything needed for Adobe Interactive forms, or isn't it??

Hi Micky.
If you have the spool number of the printed billing document you can use
component WDK_SPOOL_TO_PDF in order to display spool as PDF.
Just transfer spool number and format to default inbound start up plug.

How can I display pdf file details on 64-bit Windows 7 detail view?

I'd like to display some pdf file details in order to classify them by author, title, subject... This option was simply possible for pdf file on windows xp (just by selecting the desired details on detail view when exploring folders) but it seems to be impossible for windows 7 (It's possible for other file like *.jpg, mp3...). Is there a program or a plugin to solve this problem? Thank you very much.

It would appear, very annoyingly, that Acrobat is still lagging in the x64 department! It will, at the moment, only run as an x86 sub.....

i have a jsp pagein that page if i click one icon then my backing bean method will call and that method will create pdf document and write some the content in that file and now i want to display that generated pdf document.
it should look like you have pressed one icon and it displayed pdf file to you to view.

it was not showing me open option so i am saving that file then that file saved as a pdffile with tha name of my jsp file and there is nothing in that file(i.e. empty file).
what is the solution for this. there is any wrong in my code.

This is my action method which will call when ever i press a button in my jsp page.
This method will create the barcode for the given barcode number and write that barcode image in pdf file
(i saw that pdf file which i have created through my above method, This PDF file opening when i was opening manually and the data init that is also correct means successfully it writes the mage of that barcode)
This method taking the jsp file to open because as earlier i said it was trying to open unknown file type document and i saved that file and opended with editplus and that was the jsp file in which file i am calling my action method I mean to say it was not taking the pdf file which i have created above it was taking the jsp file

I got the solution for my issue.We need to use HTMLLoader to load the PDF documents in Windows aplication for Flex.

I have Adobe Reader X. I can open a pdf on my Windows PC but the contents will not display.

Displaying pdf in browser when using Windows 7 Beta & AR 9

Early indications are that "Adobe Air" and/or "Acrobat.com" are breaking the display in browser function in Windows 7 Beta when using Adobe Reader 9.
On a fresh install of Windows 7 Beta, I installed Adobe Reader 9, and as everyone is finding out, you cannot display a pdf in a browser window. Doesn't matter which browser either. IE8, Opera 10a, Mozilla SeaMonkey 1.1.14 had the same result for me. The only workable option was to have the pdf open in a separate window of Adobe Reader itself. Oddly though, on rare occasions I could get a pdf to display in a browser window, but 95% of the time it would not work.
On another fresh install of Windows 7 Beta, I installed Adobe Reader 9. After installation I opened Adobe Reader and accepted the license agreement, then closed Adobe Reader. Next I uninstalled "Acrobat.com", then uninstalled "Adobe Air" using Programs and Features in Control Panel. So far, I have not had any problem downloading and viewing pdf's in a browser window. Tested with IE8 and Opera 10a. Note that I did not run compatibility mode on Adobe Reader.

I (April) apologize I have been OOO and have not been able to respond to your replies.
Let’s start over.
We have an issue where help topics do not display when selected in the TOC or when a link to the topic is clicked within another internal topic. It is in a continous loop in the browser (flickering like it is trying to load). If you right-click on the topic it displays (we are currently using this as the work-around).
We use Windows 7, IE9 and RH10 for all our projects. (Recently upgraded from RH8 to RH10)
Turns out the problem is not isolated. I have run across it in at least one other project, which leads me to think it also occurs in others.

          No. I it ALSO occurs when launched from the start page.
Have you tried deleting the CPD file and reopening Rh and the project?
          Yes, without success.
Are you using any redirects?
          Per (Adrienne), “I am not using any redirects. I encounter this issue only in IE. If I paste the .htm into a Firefox browser, the help displays as it should.”
          I will add that the project also displays incorrectly in Google Chrome.

Hi,
There is another solution but it is at client side only.
Open Adobe Reader -> goto Menu 'Edit'-> 'preferences'->'Internet'-> Uncheck 'Display PDF in browser' then press 'OK'.
