Display range in 3d bar chart

Hi,
I'm creating a 3D chart (top right icon in the menu).
I want to enter a range (like 34-68) for the first bar instead of a whole number like 68 and then have the 34-68 range display only... I don't want to have the bar start at 0 and go up to 68. Also, it seems that I can't enter a range in the chart editor like so: 34-68 because it just translates that to -3468. Is what I'm trying to accomplish possible in Keynote?

I think I've answered my own question here so instead of just deleteing this post, I'll reply to save the answer for anyone else looking to do this.
Use the segmented bar chart and set the lower portion to use "none" for the fill color and the value in the chart editor to the number just lower than the beginning number of the top segment's low value. For example, if the bar needs to show a range between 75 - 83, set the lower segment's value to 74 and color to none, and then set the upper segment to 8 and whatever color you want.

I don't get it. You already know what needs to be done to solve your problem, the only thing you are missing is the HOW. That's the easy part, if only you break down what you have to know:
1) how do I show an image on a website (this is a basic HTML question actually, not actually related to servlets/JSPs directly)
2) how do I fetch the path from a database (JDBC question) so that I can use this path to link to my image on disc
So what is preventing you from figuring out how to do these two simple tasks? Some clever google searches should give you all the information you need in no time.
by the way: are you sure that you need to store these paths in the database? Is this part of some file upload component?

Problem with Stacked Bar Chart

I have a problem with a stacked bar chart in Numbers 09. My chart is a single series with 6 categories. All of the categories have different values. The first 5 categories display correctly. However, the last category does not display in the color its supposed to, but rather shows up as white/background instead of the grey color shown on the legend. However, the value label is displayed in the proper place.
When I select other chart types (pie, regular bar, or regular column) the category shows up like it's supposed to.
This is kind of annoying since I would rather use stacked bar instead of a pie chart. Is there an upper limit on the number of values it can display as a stacked bar chart? Is this just a bug? Thanks!

Here's my result with six values in a single series. I double clicked the last bar to change its colour from the default grey (which was visible) to magenta.
Numbers 2.0.3, iBook G4, OS X v10.4.11
(Shot in the dark:) Try double clicking the value label, then changing the order position of this item.

Bar Chart Sort Order

HI
I'm having a display/sort issue with Bar Charts and cannot find an option in the properties to fix it.
If I have the following in cells B2:C5 in a spreadsheet:
A   500
B   250
C   400
D   750
The Bar Chart will always displays the category labels in reverse order:
D   750
C   400
B   250
A   500
How can I get the Bar Chart to display the Y axis as it's sorted in my spreadsheet?

I'm not sure what the question is.
I know that if you have a bar chart and one of the categories (X-axis) has bar (Y value) equal to 0%, no bar is plotted for that category. Even the addition of a stroke (line) around the bars doesn't make one appear for 0%. The only automatic way I know of to make it look like there is data in that category is to add the value labels to the bars. Inspector/Chart/Series, select one of the bars on the chart, click on "value labels". Another method that is a workaround is to fudge the number a little in your table so that instead of 0% it is a very small %. This will get you a thin line on the chart.
But if your question is about the value labels (the numbers that display on or in the bars) and you are not getting one for a bar that is supposed to be 0%, it probably means your table doesn't actually have a 0% in the corresponding cell. A blank cell in the table will not get a value label.

If I understand correctly, you want to set the label to be displayed in the middle of bar series. To achieve this goal, we can use the BarLabelStyle property. For more details, please see:
Right-click the bar series, and then select ‘Show Data Labels'.
Click the bar series to open Property grid window.
Expand CustomAttributes node, then change the property of BarLabelStyle to ‘Center’.

Displaying graphical representation of data in hash tables as bar chart?

I want to be able to display results in my hash table as a bar chart i don't know how to do it could someone help me I've looked through tutorials couldn't find any information that actually helped.
In my program it doesnt allow matching the capital and small letters
so for instance if I already have Mike it allows for me to input mike in again so there are 2 Mikes.
I also want to do a simple user interface the tutorial for it is not simple to understand could any one tell me how to create a simple user interface like putting a button into a place wher i want it to be.
im not asking anyone to do it for me i just want people to show me how to do it

SSRS Bar Chart grouping date series into Months, setting scaler start and end ranges

I've been trying to solve this issue for a few days now without writing a sql script to create a "blank" for all of missing data points so that I get a bar for each month. I have date series (by day) data points grouped by two items
that creates a set of bar charts. EG: one chart per product in the tablix detail grouped to site level.
My issue is I would like the start and end of the charts to be the same for all charts and the only way I get it to work is with a chart that continues to show each date on the chart.
EG:
I have the graph start and end points set and scaling by month as I would like but each bar is a day instead of aggregating to a month level. My issue I hope to find a workaround for is if I go to Category Groups and define the grouping
to group with a year and month function the series is no longer treated as date data and I cannot control scaling. It works fine if all months have activity, but I can't figure out how to always have all charts start at "May 2012" in this example.
The only start and end point that I've been able to get to work once doing this are integer based, eg normal start would be 1 for each graph, but 1 doesn't equate to the same month from chart to chart.
I hope SSRS can provide the solution. I do know I can write a query that creates a ZERO value for each month/product/site but I don't want to leave the client with a query like that to support.

If I understand correctly, you want to display all month category label in the X-Axis. You have configure the Scalar Axis, however, it cannot display the requirement format.
In your case, if we want the specific data format, we can configure Number property to set the corresponding Category data format. Please refer to the following steps:
Right click the X-Axis, select Horizontal Axis Properties.
Click Number in the left pane. Click Date option in the Category dialog box.
Then, select Jan 2000 option.

WAD Display value in bar of a bar chart

Hello group,
I'm trying to display the values of every bar in a bar chart and can't fine the way to. I'm sure it's quite easy and can't find the solution. I've searched the forum and only found a link on SAP help which explains how to do it on individual bar but not all of them (Series --> Series1 --> Show Labels, same for Series2 until Series5 etc etc...).
I can't find any options for all Series. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Figured it out. It seems that this option is only available in Wizard mode, not when using the refine... Oh well...

Display value on each bar in chart

Per default, only a approximative value is displayed on the Y axis.

In the display settings of your flash chart, you have the following options:
Show Hints
Show Labels
Show Values
Click those on and see what you get.
You can also use try to use a custom XML, which will give you a possibility to manualy change the generated xml for you chart.

Display -ve Measure Values in Horizontal Bar Chart on right hand side or in bar

In OBIEE I have an issue where the negative measure values in a horizontal bar chart are displayed on the left and overlap with the Y axis values, how do I force these values to be displayed on the right or in the bar itself ? The measure values are set to always on, hoverover cannot be the solution

It should not be overlapped. If you are using horizontal bar then 0 will come in center. It should show structure like:

Display ISO week number instead of date on x axis in Bar Chart

Hi,
I've created a simple SSRS report based on bar chart that shows several milestones. Everything works fine for me except I’m not able to convert the date into ISO week number format.
I played around with different approaches. I was able to convert the date into an ISO week Format directly on the SQL Server. That
wasn't a problem.
But unfortunately I’m not able to display the week number on the horizontal axis in my Bar Chart. I tried both fields: TaskFinishDate and TaskFinishDateMS...
I would like to show the ISO week number instead of the date within the Bar Chart on the horizontal axis.
Any ideas/hints/help is really appreciated!

Per my understanding that you want to get the week number of the year based on the field "TaskFinishDate" which is datetime type and display the week number in the x-axis instead of the field "TaskFinishDate", right?
I have check the snapshot you have provided and it seems you have change the format of the datetime field in the x-axis like "dd.MM.YYYY", If you can't make the week number to display correctly in the x-axis, the issue can be caused by you haven't
change the format to Number in the category.
Details information below for you reference:
I assume you have use expression in the Label like below to convert the datatime TaskFinishDate in to ISO week number like below:
=DatePart(DateInterval.WeekOfYear,Fields!TaskFinishDate.Value）
or
=DatePart("ww",Fields!TaskFinishDate.Value）
Right click the X-axis and select the "Horizontal Axis Properties", then click the Number to change the format to "Number" as below:
Preview you will get the weeknumber display in the x-axis correctly.

Display name and value on label of vertical bar chart

Hi,
i have a vertical bar chart. On x-axis there are Countries: (Italy, Netherlands and so on), and on y-axies there are the values.
When i mouse over a bar, on default is shown only the value. I want show a tooltip with the value and the name.
For example, when i mouse over Netherlands bar, i want to display, NETHERLANDS , 92,45.
I've modified bar.pcxml file adding following string:
FormatString='%_YVALUE'
I've restarted all processes, but now when i mouse over on bar i see a tooltip with %_YVALUE text.
What's the correct syntax?

I don't think its possible to use this '%_YVALUE' for Bar graphs. Please refer to table 1.1 in the below link for the supported values for FormatString for each graph type:

As you can see, '%_YVALUE' and '%_XVALUE' are supported for X-Y graphs only, which I guess are Scatter and Bubble charts. I tried using other ones like '%_GRAPH_TOTAL' for bar graphs which just works fine.

Display Value for a Horizantal Bar Chart

My Horizontal Bar Chart is not displaying values that are less than 6 figures since most of the column values are greater than 7 figures. it won;t show even when I hover over the column bar.. Any idea on how to display them.

I have not come across such scenario...anyways..let me give it a thought and will let you know if i find some solution..:)
Undoubtedly i still say it as a powerful tool when compared to any other dashboard development tool. Most importantly, anyone can develop a dashboard and show their analysis in visualization in minutes... that is the beauty of Xcelsius
I understand some important features are still missing and i am sure product development team will work towards it. No tool is perfect.. It is only people like you and me who will be able to make it better by suggesting different ways to improve
