Display Settings - Restore Defaults?

Apple 20" Studio Display and G5 running Tiger.
Out of nowhere my screen became substantially brighter but only for colors that are grey or silver. Then of course I messed around with the display settings and now I cannot see silver or grey colors since those colors were washed out to white.
Since I cannot figure out how to return the display settings back to what they were initially, I just want to restore the original or factory display settings.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this feat?

Hi
System Preferences>Displays>Display is where you can change the resolution of your screen.
Also, you can zoom in on webpages & other windows by using your mouse's scroll wheel whilst holding down ctrl key.
Have a look in System Preferences>Universal Access>Seeing & check that Zoom isn't activated (Cmd-Alt-8 is shortcut).

  • Use GPO to set default language options, IME, display settings?

new to GPO, we have a small Windows Server 2012 domain, all clients on Win7 or Win8.  All the clients require the following changes, anything I can automate this with GPO?  thanks
Under Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region\Language > Add Traditional Chinese HK SAR
Under Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region\Language > Traditional Chinese HK SAR > Options, Add Microsoft Quick IME
Under Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region\Language\Advanced settings - change language bar hot keys
        - CTRL+SHIFT+0 ------  To English (United States) - US
        - CTRL+SHIFT+0 ------  To Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan) - Microsoft Quick IME
Under Control Panel > Region > Advimistrative > Change System Locale...  change to Chinese HK SAR for non-unicode programs
Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display > Change the size of all items, use custom 123%.
Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display > Update Text size to 8 for Title bars, Menu, Message Boxes, Icons, Tooltips
I found this for the display scaling registry changes but it is for 125% and it uses 78 for the dword value, not sure about custom 123%.

    Hi lilyl,
According to your description, you would like to deploy some settings about language and display via GPO.
According to my knowledge, the steps you provided are from Windows 8 clients. Based on my test, you can use the following methods to realize:
Add Traditional Chinese HK SAR. Locate the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Keyboard Layout\Preload, and then add a String Value "next number"(which has not been used)=00000404.
The region settings. Please refer to the similar post:

The display settings. The post you provided tells us the related registry keys, and you should try to find the right value since you want to custom it.
In addtion, please refer to the following article to learn to deploy a registry item:

  • Will migration assistant change the default display settings on my new Mac?

I just set up a new iMac and used Migration Assistant to load from my Time Machine. But now the display looks muted and not as bright. Would Migration Assistant change the default display settings on my new Mac?

Migration Assistant may not be the cause. But you should reset the NVRAM and see it that fixes the issue.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the third time.
    Release the keys.

  • TS1717 restoring default factory settings without itunes as both may have malware

How can I restoring default factory settings without itunes on my ipod 1 and ipod 3rd generation, as both may have malware aswell as 3 laptops, 2 mobile, TV snd BluRay Browser.
any advice will be greatly appreciated.
have tried to disinfect with Kaspersky products but the malware just overwrites everything that is put into the p.c. so I need to use just the pad itself, that is, of course, if it allows me access.
theres nothing like a ipad scorned, ask my weary eyes. cheers

yep, unfortunately can't reset without the passcode either.
With regards to doing a restore, do you mean:
    open itunes on my computer
click on my device on the left
    go to the device summary
    click restore
it then asks if i want to back up before i restore (to which i say no)
then it asks me if i'm sure I want to restore to factory settings and that all of me media and data will be erased and replaced with the newest version ( to which I say yes)
then it takes about 90 mins to do this but when I look at my phone, everything is exactly the same.
Am I missing something? Obviously I'm technologically challenged, but I HAVE to get to the bottom of this!

  • Default Display Settings T61

    Hi
Does anyone know what the default display settings are for the T61. Some settings were "changed" when the device would not connect to a projector in a hotel. It will now not connect to any external monitor.
    Thanks
    Phil

    Native resolution on 13" MBP is 1280 x 800.
    Open System Preferences > Display
There you will find a drop down list with different resolutions. Select 1280 x 800

  • IE 11 zoom default 125% based on display settings in control panel.

Using Windows 7 Enterprise with 2 displays I have my display settings set to increase windows objects and text by 125%.  IE 11 appears to compound this by defaulting to 125% zoom on startup default.  If I set the display
control back to 100 the default on IE goes back to 100% as well.  How do I get IE to default to 100 when the display is set for 125% Based on another post I checked IE ZoomFactor in the current user key and found it to be the recommended 100000.
and ResetTextSizeOnStartup and ZoomOnStartup are set to 1.  Changes to these does not seem to have an effect.

    Hi,
I test the issue and have the same result as yours, the value of ZoomFactor remains 100000. As a workaround, I change the value to Decimal:80000 (or Hexadecimal: 13880) then F5 to refresh the registry, reopen IE, it goes back to 100%, my registry setting
    as below
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Zoom]
    "ZoomDisabled"=dword:00000000
    "ResetTextSizeOnStartup"=dword:00000000
    "ResetTextSizeOnZoom"=dword:00000001
    "ResetZoomOnStartup"=dword:00000001
    "ResetZoomOnStartup2"=dword:00000000

  • Restoring original iMac color/display settings??

I was tinkering around with the display calibration and somewhere along the way the original display calibration was saved over and now I'm stuck with several versions of displays which all feature too much light. The places this is most obvious are on the brushed metal interfaces, where it appears there is a light source centered on the window, making a lighter colored reflection of sorts. I was hoping to restore the original settings for the display, but have been unsuccessful on my attempts so far. If anyone can help me out before my retinas detach, I would greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, it appears that one of the profiles I changed was the factory setting, and the original factory setting has been saved over. One less than perfect solution I've come up with is creating a new account. The display settings for this "Test" account I set up and have begun using more and more has the original calibration set up and looks perfect. An interesting observation is that the other profiles I set up are accessible from this account, and when chosen look much closer to normal than in the previous account, where it was as if the white point or brightness was increased quite a bit, creating almost a white-out effect on the brushed metal interfaces, aqua buttons, and worst of all webpages with whites and grays (like apple.com), where I could barely make out the silhouette of the Mighty mouse.
If anyone has an alternative way to restore the current account's display settings to the old account, please let me know b/c I would hate to have to complete this transition to an entirely new account.
    Thanks again.

  • Factory restore of display settings

My desktop is not centered on my computer screen. It is down and to the left so that my task bar is not visible and there is a black bar on the right side of my screen. I'm not exactly sure what caused it but I've read you can restore factory display settings with out doing a full system restore, I just can't find where in my control panel. I'm running Windows Vista. If anyone knows how to do this, it'd be much appreciated if you could let me in on the secret. It's royally frustrating.
    Thanks!

To find out if this is a hardware failure or a setting problem, try to boot into "Safe Mode" to see if the problem is gone.  Immediately after the HP Splash screen start tapping F8.  Do not hold, tapping at about 2 times per second.  A screen with choices to boot into safe mode should come up.  Pick "safe mode" not any other choice.  Once the process is completed, the screen should be normal but bigger than normal.  If it is still "dislocated" then most likely a hardware failure of some sort - typically a video card problem or power supply.

  • Restoring settings to default?

I have Acrobat 9 Pro on a Windows system.
I've searched the Q&As and couldn't find what I need.  I'm a recreational user, scanning and saving.  I have tailored the 'Creating PDF' settings for decent output from my scanner.  Everything was working fine and then all of a sudden, I couldn't delete a page.
I scanned about 20 pages, saved the file.  Then scanned another 50 pages and clicked on 'Document; Insert pages; From file' and chose the first file.  Once everything was together, I went to delete a page I thought I scanned twice.  I couldn't do it.  The 'Extract, Replace, Delete, Split' etc are not available choices.  One of the help things said to do a 'Preflight' and 'Fixes'.  I tried that and it did not help.  I tried to go to an older doc I had and it was limited, too.  I checked the doc properties and there is no security.
Is there a way to reset ALL settings back to default?  I don't know what to do other than to erase and reload.
Please help ASAP.  I'm trying to get things together for my VA appeal and can't waste too much time.  I'd rather not reload, as that may create more problems.  I'd just like to get back to the baseline and get a few scanner settings in so that I can continue for now.
Thanks for any help.  It is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Mr Kazlow.  When I shut things down and restarted last night, it didn't help.  This morning, it did.  Since then, this is what I've noticed:
    1. Plain PDF docs I can insert, replace, delete pages, etc.  All options available.
    2. PDF/A docs I can't manipulate.  Even though there is no security, the options just aren't available.
2a. This is the problem because I used to be able to manipulate all files.
    3. New scans are PDF/A and I can't manipulate.
3a. This is the problem because I used to be able to manipulate all files.
    4. In the Toolbar containing 'Pages, Bookmarks, Layers, Signatures, Standards', the 'Standards' is new.
I think this is where I messed something up in the settings:  I jumped the gun in trying to fix a problem and created a problem, when it may have been as simple as suggested by Mr Kazlow....a file being open by the scanner.
I think I messed up the preflight profiles because that is where the help sent me, to do fixups.  How would I restore those preflight settings to default settings?
Again, thanks for any help available.

  • Fn F7 defaults from Presentation on Projector and Notebook back to My Normal Display Settings

I am using my T61 to project slides in class. When I connect it to the data projector, turn on the data projector, and use Fn F7 to switch from My Normal Display Settings to Presentation on Projector and Notebook, the signal does not get through to the projector. When I check Fn F7 again, I see that the scheme is back to My Normal Display Settings. What am I doing wrong?
    David

Yes, I experienced the same problem. In my case it was caused by the VGA cable. After replacing the installed cable with a high-quality cable, the projector display was stable.
Interestingly, my old HP notebook worked fine with the projector and the installed cable. The problem occurred only with my new T61. Maybe the electrical characteristics are slightly different, or a specific signal which was not used by the old VGA interface was degraded. I use a cable with pin 9 connected. I have not tested a cable without pin 9.
    Hope this helps, Carsten.
