Display top 5 records

Hi Friends,
i've a prompt in my dashbord, based on the prompt the report values will display right,
my requirement is that i want display only top 5 records,
how will you do that

Create a prompt with a column and assign presentation variable in it.
In report for measure give the function as topN in edit formula.The syntax is shown as
TOPN(expr, integer)
If u want top 5 then TOPN(Measure Column,5) give filter to this column with presenntation variable
We can do it with 'rank' function also like this
Rank(Measure column)
Otherwise,Use TopN filter in the report.But it shows 5records statically.For this there is no need of prompt.

yah! the data is displayed by using "is in Top" function as a filter.
7 records are displayed, without the year column.

if you use the parameters in the report by placing them in the record selection it should display the records within your date range.
if {date field} in ?start to ?end then true

Hi
I want to display top 5 sales records at BEx level to the newly loaded data.
Info objects are plan, date, sales currency etc..
Data can be loading and BEx report execution can be done on daily basis.
The report should display top 5 sales records of latest data load when the report is executed.

Selecting Top N records in a table using a slider or drop down list

Hi Experts,
I have a query that displays 1000 records ( say) in VC iview.
Can i have a drop down list in the variable form to control the number of records displayed in the output table by the user .
or can i have a horizaontal slider ( Min value is 2 -max 1000) to display the number of records in the output table selected by the horizaontal slider.
basically iam having a requirement to give the user the capability to select the Top N records of the output table...where the user enters the N value in Drop downlist of variable form or user slides the N value using Horizontal slider

Yes it is possible. First you need to create 'Condition' in BEx query where you have to create 'TOP N' & 'N' should be a variable input. Then you will get this in 'Variable Screen' of a query. In VC for this same variable you can use slider. Use 'Select' function in the 'Action' of the slider & pass it to require table/graph.
Try this, this will give you the required result.

I want to generate a sql report in which I only want the top 10 records based on the numeric value of a column.
For Example,
To generate a Location Wise, Employee Wise Years of Service Report.
Here I need the Top 10 Employees according to their No. of Years of Service for all the existing locations using a single query.
eg.

144 30 ...

Every Location should display their respective Top 10 Employees
regarding their No. of Years of Service.

Try closing OAE and the application if running.. Seems like the changes don't take effect until you come back into OAE... At least that is what mine does.

Hi Kush,
Before writing any Database Query, always keep 2 important thumb rules in your mind :
1. Keep the number of data base access small
2. Keep the amount of data transfer small.
As you mentioned the Database Table has only 100 records, you can locally buffer the Table. So, make a local buffering and then you can sort the table based on the salary.
Select *
from Table_name
into table gt_itab.
Sort gt_itab by salary descending.
Now you can read the entries one after the another based on the index.
Have a look at the following code for an efficient performance feature. Goto SE38 and have a look at the ABAP Examples.

My report link to an Excel database, in my Excel, I have two columns, like:

how can I only display top 2 VPs and their revenue in my Crystal report, like

You think it's easy? it's easy in Excel but not in Crystal.

or you can sort by revenue descending
then do a record count and supress the records based upon that.

How to display top Position Level using conditions / Exception Aggregation

I have the following problem where I need to list out the row with the highest POSITION LEVEL (with reference to BUSINESS PARTNER). I have tried out all possibilities including Conditions and Exception Aggregation (MAX) but nothing seems to work. Conditions work to an extent i.e. it shows the top position level but unfortunately for the entire query result i.e. only one row is displayed in the result (the first row to satisfy the condition) instead of all the rows for each Business Partner. POSITION LEVEL is a KEY FIGURE value. It also exists as a CHARACTERISTIC under a diferent name in the cube. How can I solve this? Pls help.

Hi Sebastian,
I thought you need to display all the records with the highest position level at top. But now I realize your requirement.
It should only display only the maximum position level for each level.
You can try using the Condition for the position level KF, with Top N operator and value = '1'
And then go to char assignement tab in the exception and select Most Detail Chars along Rows/Individual Chars. and combinations for the required combination of Chars.

Report Material Description is not displaying for few records in Bex Report but for records it is coming and even the heading of the material Description is also not coming for this report.

For the text of the material in records, check if there is text maintained for that material in the master data. also try by changing the text to medium text and long text.
regarding header, you will have same heading for key and text, you may use Materail ID / Description as the heading if you want.

How to display the NULL records by multiple XMLTABLE()

First, let me provide the testing data of INSERT and CREATE TABLE sql:

Are you using binary XML storage? (This is the default in 11.2.0.2)
If not you have to explicitely specify it :

How to display top 10 values in a Webi report?

Hi,
I have the following requirement.
If the report contains 'State' and 'Revenue' columns, I need to display top 10 cities with highest revenue and the revenue of the remaining cities can be summed together and should be available in a separate cell.
I tried several formulae to achieve the requirement but was unsuccessful.
I created a variable using the formula: '= If (Rank(<State> ,<Sales revenue>)>10 ) Then Sum(<Sales revenue>) Else 0' and added it as a column in the report. This provides the required results.
When I add this variable as a column in the report, it displays 0 for the first top 10 values and only displays the remaining values. After that we can apply the Sum on this column to get the sum of the remaining (Other) sales revenue excluding top 10 values. However I cannot display this sum in a separate cell.
Please provide some suggestions on this.

Could you please try the following solutions to resolve the issue.
Solution1:
In Oracle, there is a function called: RANK() OVER (PARTITION BY () ORDER BY ()) which can be used to define an object at Universe level to return a rank position when used in a report. If you can check with your DBA - there is a similar function available for SQL Server. It should be RANK() OVER (ORDER BY colname) AS () FROM.
Solution2:
Or you can also try returning all rows in query, apply sort at report level & apply alerter to highlight the top 10 values.

Display current month records only

Hi Experts,
I have the following requirement.
Report should display current month records only.
For example If the report is run on 20090324, It should display records from 20090301 to 20090324.
That means, report may run on any date of that month, It should display from 01 (of that month) to current date.
I have a select statement saying
SELECT * FROM likp
WHERE wadat_ist BETWEEN month_start_date AND sy-datum
    AND vkorg IN s_vkorg
    AND vkbur IN s_vkbur
    AND kunnr IN s_kunnr.
How to calculate date for month_start_date, so that it can display only current month records.
