Display values on a chart

hi,
in excel, you can display the value of a bar in a chart right on the chart.
i've looked in cx 4.5 for the equivalent option, but did not see one.
after looking at some of the chart samples, i noticed that i did not see this
am i correct that this is not an option in cx?

In CX 4.5 Pro the option is in the following Path
--> Double Click on the Chart from the Properties Window select the Appearance tab
--> Now from the Title Button you can select or unselect the Show Legend Value
Now the problem is that you want to display the Values but it display the Numbers as if there are categorize 1 to 9 than it show the Number from 1 to 9 and color of that Category in the Chart.
But we can do a trick through you can achieve your Requirement.
Like Just right side of you Chart Place a List View or Table view and Point the display Values of that Control to the Values you are displaying in the chart.
In this way you will be able to display the Category name and amount in the right side or any where you want.

Display value in Bar chart conditionally

I've a chart with Bar-Vertical Stacked type. In one bar 7/8 stacks are coming, some of value 1000 and some of very small values like 2, 5,6 etc. For each of these small bars when I'm displaying value in center position with markerTextPlace="MTP_CENTER", it becomes clumsy.
In this case, I want to only show the slice in vertical bar but not to display value if value<10.
How this condition can be checked to view value.

How to display value in waveform chart

dear sir
i am using labview 7.0 with dsc module for scada.
now i want to display the difference between two tags value in waveform chart. Also i want to display that difference value on y axis and system date and time on x axis continously. Also if there will change in that tag value then there should be reflection of that value on wavwform chart with system time. Really i am in trouble. please help me.

Why would an XY graph be preferable to using a Waveform Chart where the "t0" is the time of the measurement?

Too much displayed values in flash 2D line

I have a 2D line flash with variable number of points.
The X ans Y labels are rendered and the Y values of the points are displayed on the chart.
When the number of points increases the displayed values on the chart start to overlap.
When the number of points is too great, values overlap so much that we can't read any of them.
Is there a way to decrease the number of displayed values on the flash while retaining the same number of points?

Thanks for your quick response. If I'm correct in understanding what your saying is that with 2D Line charts that have two series in order for them to display togethor then the label must appear in both series.
I've had a bash using your sql for the 1st series and modifying the second series.

This is a great improvement the series 2 now displays fine and all the points for series 1 are plotted correctly but it seems like the null value prevents the joining of the coordinates in this series. All the points 700,800 and 9000 are displayed correctly but the graph line only joins 700 and 800.
Any further ideas? Thanks Pete

I am not sure if you could get the concatenation to work.
But here are some ideas (please post if you get the solution):
- Take a look at the list of other formatting options based on the following link:

- Another alternative is to customize the class file : oracle/dss/graph/SliceLabel.class located in bipres.jar
You would need to customize it to do what you need.
a) Modify this one so that it is used by the BIP Server
C:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\xmlpserver\xmlpserver\WEB-INF\lib
b) Modify this one so that it is used by the Client : MS Word AddIn:
C:\Program Files\Oracle\BI Publisher\BI Publisher Desktop\Template Builder for Word\jlib

Conditional display of value in funnel chart

hi - I'm wondering if there's a way to turn off display of a single value in a bucket chart depending on
the value of the "on change of" data value. So, just like you can change the color of the area depending
on the value of the change or display value, I'd like to be able to specify "don't display this funnel value when
this condition is true".
I'm not seeing... but am hoping there is!

Display Value for a Horizantal Bar Chart

My Horizontal Bar Chart is not displaying values that are less than 6 figures since most of the column values are greater than 7 figures. it won;t show even when I hover over the column bar.. Any idea on how to display them.

I have not come across such scenario...anyways..let me give it a thought and will let you know if i find some solution..:)
Undoubtedly i still say it as a powerful tool when compared to any other dashboard development tool. Most importantly, anyone can develop a dashboard and show their analysis in visualization in minutes... that is the beauty of Xcelsius
I understand some important features are still missing and i am sure product development team will work towards it. No tool is perfect.. It is only people like you and me who will be able to make it better by suggesting different ways to improve

Display Data on waveform chart or XY graph over a long period of time
Can anyone help?
I am acquiring data from an Ni DAQ card with the following parameters - sample rate = 12800, number of samples = 4096. I want to extract order information so as to track changes in the amplitudes of certain frequency harmonics. So I use the sound and vibration toolkit to extract this information as shown in the attached Vi. I will like to plot the resulting amplitudes against real-time starting at the time the Vi was run. I really want the display to show these changes over long periods (eg. days, months and even years).
Problem.
I have tried to plot the Y component of the resulting magnitude for a given order on a waveform chart. My choice of the waveform chart is because I also want to display alarm limits (using the mask and limit vi) (I can't have these lines displayed on an XY graph plot). I tried adjusting the scale offset using the property node and setting the offset to current time. However, the display on the X-axis can only show a span of 2 minutes as will be seen when you run the attached vi. I want the time display on the x-axis to be over a period of days, months and even years. Is there a way to set the maximum scale on the x-axis to be say a year or so in future.
I really want the display to be like the one in in the second attachment.
Attached is a sample VI created using an Ni USB 9234 DAQ card. Any card will do but I am only getting the signal from one channel for this example
I will appreciate any help that can be given to me.

Long term testing can be tricky- and we'l get into that later. Lets start with the basics that you have wrong.
The vi as you have constructed it has only one memory element, the chart history length (default is 1024.)
You can change the number of points the Chart will remember by Right-clicking the chart an select Chart History Length from the menu.
But for a long term test - and one where you want to REMEMBER the first value you need a memeory element that is independant of the application. Your PC WILL loose power or need to be rebooted eventually. Heck it might even need to be replaced! you really need to store your data in a file. Preferablly in a file that is backed-up on a regular basis so you don't lose every point of data if the PC dies. It realy hurts when you have to restart a 2yr test because you've lost the 18months of data you collected.
For an application like this I would seperate my "collection" and "Evaluation" operations.
Have one vi that takes the reading and writes it to a file at a configurable rate You may want 1reading per minute for seveal days then 1 per hour for a few weeks- then maybe only once or twice a week for the next couple of years since you are looking for LONG TERM stability. having too much data to evaluate can take a lot of digging to find the few things that interest you (but always take more that you think you need)
Have another utility that COPIES the files, reads them and displays the data you are interested in that day. The data you want to look at won't change over time HOWEVER, you WILL want to analize it in different ways depending on what the data trends look like. Having seperate routines for collection and display allows you to update the display style and analisys without even stopping the collection vi (much less editing the vi)

Data values on Bar Chart in a BI Publisher report (11g)

I have a bar chart that I created via the layout editor in BI Publisher 11g, and I'm displaying the data values on the chart. That part works great. However, we're noticing that the chart adds zeros to the end of the data values depending on the length of the number being passed to the chart. My data item is a number that is 5 bytes in total, with 2 decimals. If the data value is *10.10*, the data displayed on the bar chart shows *10.10*. But when my data value is *1.10*, the data displayed on the bar chart is *1.100*. And if my data value is *.10*, the bar chart displays *0.1000*. The bar chart adds zeros to the end as the number of characters to the left of the decimal decreases.
I don't see a way to make it not do that. Has anyone else run into this, and been able to change it?

Attaching Mutiple Data Definition to a XML Program and deciding which one to call ased on parameter.Sorry you can not do that one Data DEfinition per Report.
ut there is one way of doing that.
Create multiple data defintion( mutiple programs) and then a master program something like
IF Master Program Param1 = 'X'
call BI Program 1
ELSIF Master Program Param1 = 'Y'
call I Program 2....
End IF;

How to see the peak values in a chart?

I have the following situation: I am applying the FFt to an acceleration signal. In the FFT-peak graph I see different peak frequencies. However I would like to know how much are those peak values and either display them in the chart on top of the peaks or extract them in numerical indicators. Is any of these solutions possible in LabView?
I guess the question stands for any kind of graph or chart where you want to extract and see only certain or peak values. Any suggestions?

OK. Attached is a VI which allows you to move cursors 0 and 1 to select any section of a graph, and then click a button to get the maximum of that particular section. It also places the third cursor (red) at the location of the maximum it finds. It is all done using property nodes of the graphs.
This VI is based on an exercise of the LabVIEW Basics II course, which I took a long time ago, but the manual of which is still very useful.

Value formatting on chart axis in WAD

Hi experts,
In WAD charts, I use an ordinary line chart.
Is there a way to format the value on the axis so that it becomes thousand separated?
I.e. Instead of a value on the axis of 80000000, we would prefer to have 80 000 000.

When you are displaying data on a chart, the newest data is appears at the right of the previous data. When the chart history buffer is full (default length = 1024), adding a new point deletes the oldest point. Visually it appears that the data slides to the left as new data is added to the right end.
My question relates to how the user would "tell" the program what data to average. In the image you posted you marked a segment of the data to be averaged. Suppose the user marks point "A" as the beginning of the segment. While the user is deciding where to put mark "B" additional data is acquired and point "A" disappears because it is beyond the history length. What does the program do in such a case? A slight variation is the situation where both "A" and "B" have been marked but some of the data is deleted from the history before the averaging or other processing has begun.

How do you find an average of peak values in a chart?

I would ideally like to display a value alongside a chart that represents the average value of every three peaks. Right now I am only able to display a live value for the peaks. Is this possible?

Are you using the peak detector VI linked below? Using the index of peak locations and their corresponding values, you could try using a loop to build an array of the peak locations then averaging every 3 indexes of the array.

Is it possible to easily view the actual (not displayed) value of a cell?

Is it possible to easily view the actual value of a cell calculated by a formula, not the displayed value after it has been rounded off?
For instance, if you enter the number 1.23456789 and display it rounded to 3 decimal places, you can still see the full, actual value in the formula bar:
The problem arises when you reference that number in a formula: you can't see the underlying value (even though it's obviously known to Numbers):
Is there a way to get the formula bar (or a tooltip) to show the full, unrounded value? Changing the display to more decimal places is not very convenient, especially on big spreadsheets. Maybe it could be done via AppleScript?
A related issue arises when you try to look at the sum or average of a number: if the numbers being summed have the same number of rounded decimals, the sum displayed is rounded too. I find this very annoying: I want to see the actual value, not how my spreadsheet may be displaying it in that cell.
Although, curiously, rounding to any number of decimals as long as they are not all the same displays the full, correct underlying values:

I did it with an AppleScript.
Now any time I have a cell or cell range selected, I do one click (AppleScript menu > Display Value at Full Precision), and it shows me a popup alert that simply reads:
