Displaying duplicate CCs

I don't see my problem posted anywhere so maybe it's unique. When I turn CC to "on" CC1 it works perfectly. The next time I go to that channel (even if it's the next day) I get CC1 with another type of CC superimposed on top of it. The only way to get it off is to choose "off" for all CC since it thinks it's just displaying CC1 and then reset it to "on" the next time I want to watch that channel. It happens on all my channels, not just one.

To help you trouble shoot this issue it is important to know what kind of stb you have. For example the 2500 sd stb does not control cc, its the tv that manages cc. The model of the box is printed right on the front.

I have upgraded to iTunes 11 and cannot find "Display Duplicates" under File or anywhere else. Anyone know where it has been relocated?

The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11.0. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library. Note that, as with the iTunes feature, this list makes no distinction between "originals" and "dupes", you have to decide which is which.
There is also my DeDuper script for automatically removing duplicate copies but keeping one remaining copy of each set. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send the others to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file. Same advice to backup applies.

I'm trying to clean up my library before I sync it with my new ipod touch. Apparently there is a DISPLAY DUPLICATES command in the file menu...can't find it?

Looking for the DISPLAY DUPLICATES command in the File Menu to delete songs before I sync with my new device????

You might need to bring up the menu bar first.
If you're using version 11.0.1.12, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Now you should be able to find the duplicates thing in the View Menu.
(If you're still using iTunes version 11.0.0.163, you'd need to update to 11.0.1.12 to get the Display duplicates control.)
EDIT: Sorry, in the initial version of this reply, I said the Show Duplicate items was in the File Menu. It's in the View Menu in version 11.0.1.12.

How can I always display duplicate email messages in Apple Mail?

I would like to have Apple Mail ALWAYS display "duplicate" messages without having to click on the duplicates link in the upper right of the message.
Apple Mail identified a series of messages as "duplicates" when in fact they were not duplicates. I would have otherwise missed out on very important information and the only reason I even knew to look for this was because I saw them on my iPhone. I want to avoid this issue in the future.

Comfortable with terminal...know how to edit using TextEdit:
Open up a Terminal and use the following commands to change your Mail.app preferences file to an XML format – the default format is binary, and you can't edit this.
cd ~/Library/Preferences
plutil -convert xml1 com.apple.mail.plist
Then, open this file com.apple.mail.plist with a text editor of your choice, preferably one that highlights XML syntax, but you can also use TextEdit:
open -a "TextEdit" com.apple.mail.plist
Now, look for the key called MailAccounts. It's value is an array, with dict children. Here, you'll find all your mail accounts in the order they were created in.
You can now manually move these dict children around. Save the XML file and reopen Mail. Now, your Mail account order will be changed.

If you've paused the download (they are partially greyed out on the duplicates screen ?) then you will need to delete them from download window, you can't (as far as I know) delete partially downloaded items from that screen. When you have items downloading, or downloads that are paused, you should have a downward pointing arrow at the top right of the iTunes screen
If you click that arrow you should get a popup window with the items that are downloading/paused - and you should be able to select and delete them (or resume their download) from there.

i accidentally turned the display duplicates on. there is'nt any option to turn this feature off

Used to be under file Display Duplicates but now it is gone. Anyone found the new way? Is there one? Did they really take away that functionality??

I not this is no consolation, and I am upset that this functionaliy is missing. But I think the best thing we can do is let them know that we want it back. I've already sent off a feedback form to Apple. I'm sure it'll fall on deaf ears, but maybe if enough people do it asking for "Display Duplicates" back mayb we'll see it in an update. Just upgraded to itunes 11 and it seems display duplicates is no longer available? Really useful tool

I think it's been removed, which is frankly astonishing. It wasn't a perfect tool but did help when you have a large library. It needs putting back ASAP. I've submitted feedback via http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

Since I listen to a lot of classical music, accurately synchronizing track titles is very important...
And, with an 80 gig Ipod Classic, I cannot get my whole library [95 gigs +] on it at one time...So, with itunes 10, you could display duplicates which really helped me sort and uncheck multiples of any given classical piece...But that feature appears to be gone with itunes 11...

If I was better at web design, or at least had more time, I'd have found a better way to list the scripts and explain how to use them.
I have occasionaly thought about giving each script its own page with screenshots etc. showing how it works and what its output should look like, but that project seems too daunting so I leave it for later. Much later...
