Dmg file not recognised

Just downloaded Adobe CS5.5 mastersuite. but dmg image file will not install, error message: Mastersuite_MAC_DMC not recognised

Where are you downloading Creative Suite 5.5 from?  It would appear either the download has not completed or is corrupted.  You can follow the directions listed at http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs5-5-direct-download-links.html to download the Master Collection.

  • .dmg files not recognised!

I've a lot of program dmg files on a CD as a backup, and since giving my MBP a clean fresh install of Leopard, these dmg files are no longer recognised. Meaning that when I click on them OSX doesn't know what to do with them! It doesn't recognise any dmg files I download from the internet either. I've tried countless restarts but certainly do not want to install Leopard again! Any advice?

+"...Since migrating to my new MBP and Leopard (now 10.5.1), I’ve had to keep reassociating DMG files with DiskImageMounter.app – the setting just doesn’t seem to stick..."+
same here! this is now my fourth installation of leopard; twice with 10,5 and once with 10,5,1 i've installed it, only to 'upgrade' back to tiger after suffering this and a myriad of other teethgrindingly annoying niggles.
when 10,5,2 came out i thought +'surely they've fixed it by now'+ - only to find this infuriating behaviour still exists. no matter how many times i tell leopard to always open all 'dmg' files with +disc image mounter+, the next time i download one, it either opens in +disc utility+ - if i'm lucky! - or the finder complains it disnae know what a 'dmg' file is - if i'm unlucky!
you've really got to admire the quality control of a company which releases an OS which - two point upgrades in - still cannae recognise its own in-house file formats.
oh well, a few more days of this and i then i'll pluck up the energy to 'upgrade' back to leopard again!

  • Macs and aiff files not recognised by older hi fi.?

I have burnt audio cds using external burner(itunes 8).They are on the cd as it plays in the mac but will not play on our cd player.Iread something online about macs and aiff files not recognised by older hi fi.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AudioInterchange_FileFormat
    any help please

    Several possible issues.
    1) Did you burn the CD as an audio format CD or did you just burn AIFF files to a CD as a data CD? CD players require an audio format CD, not just AIFF files burned to a CD as AIFF files.
    2) Older CD players can have problems reading burned CDs. Sometimes using a different brand CD, a longer burn time (slower burn speed) can help, but sometimes you just have to buy a newer player. CD-RW can present big problems unless it is specified as supported.

  • 10.4  Update files not recognised

Using 10.4 on a second hand Powermac g4 from ebay, so no installation discs.
Successfully downloaded standalone updates 10.4.1....10.4.9 etc but first one (MacOSXUpdate10.4.1.dmg) not recognised so won't install. others recognised but won't work until first one installed.
Same with standalone combo update (MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.10) it isn't recognised. Using AOL dial up so it's taken seven attempts (overnight) to get a continuous connection for the complete Combo download. (Same with Software Updates Combo from Apple menu on desktop)
How do I get the right file which will be recognised ? or should I buy a full retail version of Tiger from ebay ? I'm concerned about all the probs people are having with updates as I am miles away from Apple Store for repairs and am a newbie. Many thanks for any replies.

    Welcome To  Discussions frenchbingo!
Which version of OS X is currently installed on the Power Mac G4?
If it is not Tiger 10.4.x, then as sig posted, you will have to purchase a set of install discs.
Exactly which model PowerMac G4 is it?
What size is the Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
If it is this model Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics), it had OS 8.6 or OS 9.0 installed, when manufactured in 1999.
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
Once an OS has been installed, the point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.10 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Leopard 10.5.x, can be purchased at The Apple Store (U.S.).
    Leopard System Requirements
Jaguar 10.2.x, Panther 10.3.x, and Tiger 10.4.x, are no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Leopard 10.5.x, will be the most up to date OS.
But, if you know what to look for, Jaguar Full Retail CDs, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can be purchased, sometimes less expensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, HardCore Mac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Jaguar and Panther are only on CDs, not DVDs.
The discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.

Before upgrading to any OS X version, check to see if your Mac needs a Firmware Update.
If one is required, you must start the computer from a Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9 System Folder on the computer's hard disk, not from a CD, in order to install it.
This Power Mac G4 Firmware Update 4.2.8 appears to be the one you would need to install.
Once Jaguar 10.2.x is installed, you can use the 10.2.8 Combo Update,
or if Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version of either OS.
If your Mac meets the Tiger System Requirements, you could also consider installing that, and then use the PPC 10.4.10 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.
    Jaguar System Requirements
-Power Mac G3 or G4, iMac, eMac, PowerBook G3 or G4, or iBook computer
    -128MB of physical RAM
-Supports all video cards shipped by Apple on Mac OS X-compatible systems. Quartz Extreme functionality is supported by the following video cards: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX, GeForce3, GeForce4 MX, or GeForce4 Ti; Any AGP-based ATI RADEON card. A minimum of 16MB VRAM is required.
-QuickTime Pro functionality requires a QuickTime 6 Pro key. The QuickTime 5 Pro key will not work after this software is installed.
-DVD Player requires a DVD-ROM equipped Macintosh with built-in FireWire.
Review these Apple documents for Panther System Requirements
    And Additional Panther System Requirements.
Additionally, Tiger 10.4.x ships on a DVD, so if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you will have to use an alternative method of installation.

  • External Hard drive and dmg files not mounting

External Hard drive and dmg files suddenly not mounting. Im running Mavericks on 27" iMac. Anyone have a fix or has anyone else suddenly had this problem? There was a Mavericks update a few weeks ago, but things were fine until today. This is weird. Ive checked in disk utility and can see one of my two external HD's, the one that I back up. But not even this will mount. Ive tried repairing HD thinking it was damaged but now see that all my ext hd's suddenly dont mount. Ive tried several mac restarts.

Solved the problem. My external HD is a WD (My Book Studio). I needed to install updated driver manager and this fixed it:
    http://support.wd.com/product/download.asp?groupid=114&sid=62&lang=en
If you have a WD external HD goto the above link and search for your model and a list of updates will be shown, Yay!!

  • DMG files not opening correctly in 10.8.2

I was downloading second life on my ir running 10.8.2, and after the dmg downloaded, and i clicked it, instead of the usual drag to app folder Finder window, I got a strange one with four folders in it and a shaded arrow, and nothing really to drag. Repeated this after reboots and two different dmg files (I have not tried anything other than second life. But read on.
I found a thread here where someone had a similar problem with other downloads. in their case, the finder window opened briefly and then closed, i believe. anyway they finally created a new admin user and downloaded and installed using that and it worked.
I tried that, and it also worked. Created new user, downloaded same files, clicked, and they came up with the usual drag to applications window.
Somehow ML has gotten confused on my main account. Ideas for what to do to clean it up? or should I just wait for 10.8.whatever?
    Thanks!

You might give this a try:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.

  • Canon cr2 files not recognised in LR4.1

I have Lightroom 4.1 running on a MacBook Air with 10.8.1 OS
It is not recognising the files from my Canon 7D with v 2.00 firmware
The files are recognised however in Bridge v 6
    Any solutions?

What is your general work flow? Are you pulling the files directly from the camera? I was having an issue with my new 7D last night where Lightroom insists that it doesn't know what to do with the cr2 files when I was attempting to import them from the camera (Something it happily does with my T3 and has for ages)
However, if I manually dragged the RAW files to their holding directory on the drive myself, and then imported them to Lightroom, everything was just fine.

  • Canon G7X camera raw files not recognised in Aperture?

I use Aperture 3.5 extensively and have updated to, I think, 6.07 which is the latest update pack but the RAW files are still not recognised in Aperture. Am I doing something wrong or any idea when aperture will be updated for this relatively new camera. Many thanks

The list of cameras that are supported by Aperture is here:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
Your camera is not yet on the list, sorry. You'll have to wait for the RAW support to be released. You amy want to use your camera's software to develop the RAW files and to convert them to another lossless format.

  • DMG Files not opening on my G3/366 clamshell (running 0S X 10.4.11)

I have one final issue with my G3/366 clamshell (running 0S X 10.4.11), cant seem to add software. Download a dmg file, extracts to desktop but cant open extracted file. I've done a Disk repair on start up but that didnt help, anyone got any suggestions? Everything else appears fine.

True but I think that the disk image mounter is not working so I'm not getting the option to drag anything anywhere. How do I repair the disk image mounter?
    Just tried after reading on a www forum;
    Run /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
Click on "Macintosh HD in the left column and then press the "Repair Disk Permissions button. I don't think this step was part of the solution to my problem.
    Delete the file called /System/Library/Extension.kextcache
    Delete the folder called /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernalcaches/
    Restart
But the deleted files just re apear after start up and the issue continues.
There is no issue with the hard drive, also just booted to Disk Utility again and done a volume repair, no problems there. Grrrrrrrrrrr

  • Images files not recognised from Canon 5D Mark III

iPhoto will not recognise any files from my Canon 5D Mark III. I have tried everything - updated all software, purchased the newest version of iPhoto, formatted the memory card, used a different cable, tried a different memory card. Tha battery is also fine
I really have no idea what is going on. I have just upgraded from a Canon 5D Mark II and I never had any problems before.
    Any ideas?

Is the memory card recognized if connected to the Mac with a card reader, built-in or external?
Have you applied this updater: Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.12?

  • M2v file 'not recognised' by DVDSP2 - URGENT

Encoded over night from 4.5 to compressor - no probs.
Quit everything, restarted machine, veryfied disk permissions, shut down, restarted.
Launched DVDSP2, imported a few assets, but then the main file - a 3.2gig M2v file was 'not recognised' by DVDSP2.
M2v file opens and plays in Quicktime okay.
Help anyone - can't afford time to rencode...
    Cheers

Does the file have the proper file extension? (.m2v) I know that sometimes I have accidentally erased the extension or eliminated the period before the extension. Elementary suggestion and something that you may have already tried, but you never know.
Also, can you let us know what you used to convert the file to MPEG-2? Did you use Compressor and did the file get fully converted? It might be possible that the file did not get fully compressed and, though it can be played in QuickTime, is not considered completed in DVDSP.
    Just a couple immediate thoughts.
