SAP DMS are for storing documents such as CAD drawings, Materials pictures etc.
With the document management system, users will be able to view the documents with ease within their SAP systems.
Installing the SAP DMS requires a little bit of planning on how you want to do it.
You have to give a little thoughts to stuff such as :-
    1. The total numbers of documents that will be store monthly.
    2. The average file size of each documents.
    3. The capacity of your present R/3 system.
    4. Your present network bandwidth.
    5. Document Archiving Strategy.
    6. Backup and Recovery Plan.
Additional purchasing of hardware are required, especially if you have large amount of documents to stored.
With this in mind, you can then decide on how you want to do it.
You can do this in a few ways :-
    1. Import the documents into the R/3 system.
    2. Use an external document server.
    3. Have a dedicated PCs where all the documents are stored.
Most companies that intend to used DMS will opt for Option 2 as they does not want to overstretch the R/3 database.
Options 1 requires you to setup the conversion interface.
The conversion interface allows R/3 to automatically covert your files and import it into the R/3 database.
Here is a simple example of storing documents into your PCs, just to have a feel how the SAP DMS works:-
For those using Citrix, you have to set this at the Citrix Server where the SAPGUI is located.
    Configure SM30 - V_TDWE_C1
Put this command in your autoexec.bat
    SET HOSTNAME=PC1234
    Restart your pc.
You can create/manage your documents in transaction code CV01N / CV02N
Assigning Documents to a Material Master Record
Access a material master record in Create or Change mode, and select Basic Data.
To create links to documents, choose Additional data -> Document data.
The Link to Documents dialog box appears.
Assign one or more documents to the material.
If you do not know what the document number is, you can search for it using the search help or by choosing Find document.
When assigning a document to a material, you have the following options:
    1. Viewing the document by choosing it in the Link to Documents dialog box.
    2. Viewing any originals of the document by positioning the cursor on the document and
choosing Display originals in the Link to Documents dialog box.
To return to the Basic Data screen, choose Continue.
    Save your data.
    Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.

    Hi,
The Business Blueprint gives you a general idea of how your business processes could be mapped in one or more SAP Systems. The Business Blueprint documents in detail the scope of business scenarios, business processes, process steps, and the requirements of an SAP solution implementation.
A Business Blueprint compises the following structure elements in a hierarchy:
    ·        Organizational Units
    ·        Master data
    ·        Business scenarios
    ·        Business processes
    ·        Process steps
You assign content, for example, project documentation, Business Configuration Sets, or transactions to individual structure elements, in the SAP Solution Manager.
You can also create structure elements for organizational units and master data, below a business scenario. You only use these structure elements if the organizational units and master data are only relevant to the business process above them in the structure.
The Business Blueprint is the prerequisite in the Solution Manager for configuration and test organization:
You configure your business processes with reference to the Business Blueprint project structure. You can also display and edit the project documentation from the Business Blueprint phase.
You base all test plans that you create during test organization, on the Business Blueprint project structure. The transactions which you assign in Business Blueprint process steps, are put in test plans when you generate them. You can run these transactions as function tests, to test the transactions.

  • Blue print document

    Hello Experts,
We are starting to work on a new BW project.
Does anyone has an example or a template for a BW blue print document ?
If you do, please mail the document to <i>[email protected]</i>
    Thanks in Advance, Amir.

    Hi,
    chk the below link
    http://help.sap.com/bp_biv335/BI_EN/documentation/SolutionScope_EN.doc
    Project Preparation
In this phase you plan your project and lay the foundations for successful implementation. It is at this stage that you make the strategic decisions crucial to your project:
Define your project goals and objectives
Clarify the scope of your implementation
Define your project schedule, budget plan, and implementation sequence
Establish the project organization and relevant committees and assign resources
    Business Blueprint
In this phase you create a blueprint using the Question & Answer database (Q&Adb), which documents your enterprise’s requirements and establishes how your business processes and organizational structure are to be represented in the SAP System. You also refine the original project goals and objectives and revise the overall project schedule in this phase.
    Realization
In this phase, you configure the requirements contained in the Business Blueprint. Baseline configuration (major scope) is followed by final configuration (remaining scope), which can consist of up to four cycles. Other key focal areas of this phase are conducting integration tests and drawing up end user documentation.
    Final Preparation
In this phase you complete your preparations, including testing, end user training, system management, and cutover activities. You also need to resolve all open issues in this phase. At this stage you need to ensure that all the prerequisites for your system to go live have been fulfilled.
    Go Live & Support
In this phase you move from a pre-production environment to the live system. The most important elements include setting up production support, monitoring system transactions, and optimizing overall system performance.

In general , TL will prepare and rest of all seniors will approved/ signed if it is senior level meeting , Offcourse it depends upon the meeting .
<i>2 In usual Dev->QA->Prod project cycle...
Where would the Configuration and Version Control come into picture?
Who is responsible for configuration process of the developed objects?
How the configuration process would be in real time XI project? Are we needed to use any external configuration/version control tools like VSS etc..?</i>
Yes Configuration will be the developer or the senior for interface configuration  / basis for SLD configuration
the respective will be the responsible
<i>3. I come across the terms like Legacy Systems, Third Party systems, SAP systems, Non-SAP systems, Web Systems.</i>

  • SAP HCM Implementation: Blue Print Phase

    Hi,
I have been wondering if there are any template of generic questionnaires to be asked to the client during the TO BE info gathering which is compact and covers all aspects of an organisation. It would also be good to understand what kind of generic solutions that a consultant could offer the client.
I would be happy to understand the above scenarios on a very generic perspective.
    Thanks in advance.
    Papri

    Hi Papri,
As others said it depends on the client business..
for an example...i am writing some points to give you an idea
you should prepare the questionnaire to get all the necessary information to configure in SAP.
The business blue print if the final doc to start your implementation
during this stage we need to identify the clients current business process and you will map in SAP  ,, in BBP we maitnain the as is and tobe how we map it to sap and also we identify anf Gaps
if you are gathering info about OM for instance
u2022     what is their current org structure
u2022     how many divisions and departments the do have
u2022     how they defined is it based on functionality (eg:sales dept, R&D dept)
u2022     how many jobs they do have in the company ,what kind of positions they do have  etc
    for  PA module
u2022     for enterprise structure you can ask the client how many company codes (how many balance sheets they prepare)they do have,
u2022     what all the location the company established(for PAs and PSAs)
u2022     how many employee groups they do have (reg ,contractor, temp etc)
u2022     to configure Actions you can ask them how they process/maintain employee master data,
u2022     what is the process they follow from employee hire to retire/separation
u2022     what all they maintain during hiring an employee (so that you can put those infotype s in infogroups for actions)...
u2022     how many wagetypes they do have (for 8 infotype) how they process salry monthly or weekly(to define payroll area)
    for time management
u2022     what all the shifts they do have for their employees, general or afternon shift etc ,
u2022     does the shifts wil change periodically or constant etc
u2022     what all the leave types they do have CL,SL ,EL,
u2022      how many leaves quotas , how many leaves for the quotas(SL 12 days etc)
u2022      how the leaves will be credited, month end or starting etc
u2022     does the leaves will be carry forward or not
how they track attendance , does they have 3rd party system to track leave management or payroll calculations etc
hope it throws some light on your question...

  • Business blue print in solar01

    Hi Experts,
My new assignment where I have to configure business process management in solar01
but our Business processes are too critical, We used the modeling tool as ARIS , where each process has up to 7 levels.
I am wondering how can i sync this 7 level with Business process blue print 3 leavls,
    Please guide
    Thanks,
    Jansi

    Hi, shivjansi
Your question isn't very clear for me, but I'll share my knowledge about this topic and maybe it will help you out somehow.
When it comes to using ARIS for process modeling, you are able to sync up to 4 levels with Solution Manager:
Scenario -> Process -> Process Step -> Transaction
    And that's it.
I'm working on a project right now where our client had already documented their entire value added chain in ARIS, and my job was to sync that information with SolMan. Problem was that there were 5 levels of detail, and so the synchronization wouldn't work.
How did I eliminate this one extra level? Turns out one of the levels was composed of objects that only existed to group a number of processes underneath that level. So I had one object that, when double-clicked, opened for me a variety of processes.
It was a matter of representation; putting together processes that belonged together for some reason.
With that in mind, I simply created a graphic background box in that inferior level that visually grouped those similar processes. Then I was able to delete that superior "grouping level" mentioned before.
Hope I was clear in my explanation. Hope it helps too, of course.
    Best of luck,
    Felipe

  • Solution Manager business Blue print

    Hello
I am exploring solution manager. I have a problem. for transaction solar01(business blue print) what is the significance of organizational units and master data? What information can we store under this. We also cannot attach any transactions to it nor can we attach any test cases. Please advice.

    Hi Srinivasa,
Open the Business Blueprint Document and run the macro "SAP_BUSINESS_BLUEPRINT" to create the Business Blueprint.
Unless you run the Macro, you will not be able to generate the BUSINESS BLUEPRINT DOCUMENT and hence forth you will have the blank document with Header.
Same procedure applies for Configuration guide.
    Feel free to get back.
