DMU 1.1 Released!

We are very pleased to announce the availability of the DMU 1.1 production release for download from OTN and My Oracle Support (MOS). For new features and changes in the new release, please see Release Notes.

Best regards,
The DMU Development

They assumed because of how Apple puts in the next *check for updates* date in iTunes. They assumed the new version would come out that day. Though each time a date gets hit after an update, they have always changed the date to another future date at least once.
Also who knows if it is going to be 1.1.3 or 1.2.1 anyhow since nobdy but Apple knows. Sites calling it 1.1.3 just shows they don't know for sure because the version depends on what is being done...fixes or new features (which nobody but Apple will know).

  • What are the Cleansing steps we can perform outside the DMU tool?

We need your advise on this
According to DMU documentation, There are three possible reasons for a value to have invalid binary representation in the database and their respective fixes using DMU tool
    a) An application stores binary values,
Fix: To cleanse the invalid binary representation issues for a column storing binary values, migrate the data type of the column to RAW or LONG RAW.
    b) An application stores character values in a pass-through configuration and the values are encoded in one or more character sets different from the database character set.
Fix: To identify the actual character set of data in the column, select the column in the Cleansing Editor and repeatedly change the selected value in the Character Set drop-down list, until all values in the column are legible.
    c) An application stores values that have some character codes corrupted due to software defects or hardware failures
Fix:To cleanse randomly corrupted values, edit and correct them in the Edit Data dialog box.
What are fixes we can perfmon outside of DMU tool for above issues and how?

Data cleansing is potentially one of the most time-consuming steps in the migration process depending on the data volume and the extent of data exceptions found. The DMU is designed to allow most of the cleansing actions to be performed prior to the conversion downtime window without impact to the production environment. You can choose to have the cleansing actions committed to the database immediately (immediate cleansing) or saved and executed later as part of the conversion phase (scheduled cleansing). Many of the cleansing actions may not be easy to accomplish outside of the DMU or could require significant manual workload otherwise. In your case, I think you have several options:
    1) Upgrade to a DMU-supported database release first and work on Unicode migration separately from the upgrade. This way you can leverage the DMU cleansing features to address most of the data issues beforehand and only deal with any incremental data issues in the migration downtime.
If you must do the upgrade and Unicode migration in the same downtime window:
    2) Prepare scripts for operations like enlarging column sizes or migrating column data types based on the latest iteration to speed up the process. Keep in mind you may still need extra work as the incremental data changes since the last iteration could affect the cleansing requirements. For invalid data issues, if they are caused by all data being stored in a character set different from the database character set, then set the assumed database character set instead of setting assumed character sets for individual columns.
    3) Use DMU and Streams setup to achieve near-zero downtime migration, see the page below for details:

  • Release of DMU 2.0?

    Hi,
Does anyone know when/ where version 2.0 of DMU will be/is released?  I see release notes which promise the ability to migrate Oracle 12c pluggable databases (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51608_01/doc/doc.20/e51606/toc.htm), which would be helpful to me, but I can't figure out where to download the new release.  Oracle.com still only seems to have 1.2.
    Thanks!
    Mike

    Mike,
As with any Oracle software, the only answer you can get from us is something like "in this calendar year". Accounting policies do not allow us to promise anything more specific, because we do not want customers to make purchasing decisions based on future product availability.
We are finalizing the release but we also encounter bugs in DMU 1.2 and some of them are problematic enough to warrant postponing the release to include the relevant fix. Therefore, the release date is unknown even to us. Once DMU 2.0 is released, we will post an announcement to this forum. Therefore, follow the forum and you will be notified.
Note also that even with DMU 2.0, we still recommend to migrate to AL32UTF8 before plugging into a CDB. So, unless you want to move a PDB from a non-Unicode CDB to a Unicode CDB, you can migrate with DMU 1.2.
    Thanks,
    Sergiusz

  • Unexpected Numeric Overflow on empty tables when scanning with DMU

I have an instance of oracle running on an isolated network (oracle 11.2.0.3), on a Windows Server 2008 r2, x64 dell R705 server
When using the DMU to scan tables, I get the following error:
    ORA-01426: numeric overflow
    DBMS_DUMA_INTERNAL: line 8
    DBMS_DUMA_INTERNAL: line 43
    at line 1
I get his on multiple tables, but in each case, the table is empty (0 rows)
Can I safely ignore this?  How do I get DMU to ignore the errors and continue?
    Thanks in advance.

The fix for bug 8743409 is not included in the 11.2.0.1 release. Please check the DMU supported configurations. In order to use DMU on any versions of the database before 11.2.0.3, you need to apply a prerequisite server-side patch on one of the supported configurations. If you can upgrade to 11.2.0.3, there is no need to apply additional patches and the aforementioned fix is included.

  • DMU 1.2 stuck in Execute Post Conversion Tasks

It is stuck in the post execution conversion tasks.  I don't even see the steps listed.  DBSNMP somehow got in while the DMU was up.
I put the db in blackout but should have put in restricted mode also, which i did after killing the dbsnmp session.
    From the screen log:

09.15:26:18:298;V000;I;40005 Alter Database Character Set to AL32UTF8 elapsed 00:01:40.535.
Let it run overnight and still stuck at same spot.  I can't abort because it says i will have to restore from backup.  Nothing under the ACTION area.

You should see the SQL that's currently being executed in the conversion panel. Please try the latest released version DMU 2.0. If this is still an issue with 2.0, please log an SR for further investigation.

  • DMU at Openworld '12

    Folks,
If you're attending Oracle OpenWorld in SF next month, you may be interested in the DMU session below. Come and learn how you can leverage DMU and the latest generation of database technology to lower the cost of Unicode migration while boosting the process efficiency. We will also give a sneak preview of the upcoming DMU release.
    Session ID: CON8286
Session Title: Jump-start Your Global E-Business: Unicode Migration Strategies and Solutions
    Venue / Room: Moscone South - 200
    Date and Time: 10/1/12, 13:45 - 14:45
    Abstract
As a key enabling technology for global e-business and cloud computing, Unicode has gained ubiquitous importance in recent years across the IT industry landscape. Migrating databases from legacy character sets to Unicode is a prerequisite for supporting the storage and processing of character data from all over the world. This session examines the common challenges and best practices for migrating your databases to Unicode. It gives an overview of Oracle Database Migration Assistant for Unicode, a free next-generation Unicode migration tool, and discusses the recommended strategies for applying it in specific migration scenarios such as Oracle Exadata consolidation to ensure data integrity and improve process efficiency.
There will be a DMU demo booth in the Oracle DEMOgrounds throughout the conference for you to see the product in action. Please drop by and check it out.
    Hope to see you there!

  • Log files for DMU

    Hi,
Do we have a log file for DMU? Customer wants to track all the changes the tool makes as part of conversion.
    Thanks in advance..
    Regards,
    Susan

Yes, the DMU has a log file but its content is not very reliable/legible in release 1.0. The next release should have this fixed. The SQL should be visible on the log level FINEST. The default log location is %APPDATA%\DMU\ on Windows and $HOME/.dmu/ on Unix-like systems.
One place to check what was executed during conversion, though undocumented and thus subject to change at any time, are the repository columns SYSTEM.DUM$SQLTEXT.SQLTEXT (BLOB with the SQL statement) and SYSTEM.DUM$SQLTEXT.SQLCODE (execution error, if any). The column pair [SYSTEM.DUM$SQLTEXT.STEP#,  SYSTEM.DUM$SQLTEXT.ORDER#] may be used to sort the statements in the approximate execution order (some statements may be run in parallel so the order is not deterministic).

Sadly, the answers to your questions are No, Not really, and No.
While Oracle is committed to maintaining Oracle Designer in its present state, with bug fixes, and minor enhancements to make sure that it works with later versions of the Oracle database, Oracle is not planning to make major enhancements. That means that Oracle will not create new Designer generators like one for ApEx or add export or import capabilities for JDeveloper's UML diagrams. The Visual Basic question is slightly more complicated, but the general answer is that later versions of Visual Basic should have enough backward compatibility with VB6 to compile the output from the VB generator, but the VB generator is not going to be improved to take advantage of new VB.net capabilities.
The one light in the darkness is that Oracle has been very receptive to integrating user-written enhancements sponsored by ODTUG into the tool. Some of these, notably for the Web PL/SQL generator have already been included in Designer versions. And you can download an application for adding some of your own enhancements. ODTUG would be delighted to help you share user-written Designer improvements with the greater user community.

  • Using SQVI to generate report of open and released delivery schedule lines

    All,
I'm using SQVI  to generate an excel spreadsheet for some buyers to show open released schedule lines because they are a 1 line item per scheduling agreement company.
I used the logical database MEPOLDB instead of a table joint and pulled fields from EKKO(vendor, SA #,&purchasing group), EKPO(Material Number), EKEH(schedule line type), and EKET(delivery date, scheduled qty, previous qty).
Does this sound like I'll get the results I want on paper as long as I use the right selection criteria, because the report I'm getting isn't quite what I expect? I am unable to identify which lines are authorized to ship vs. trade-off zone, planning, etc. in the report thus far.

    Hi Mark,
I have faced same requirement. I am not sure about transporting to TST and PROD. I done by this way.
After generating SQVI program in DEV , I assigned that program  to a transaction and tested in DEV. Later i have regenarated SQVI in Production. then I assigned the generated Program to same transaction in DEV. And transported the Tcode assignment of program to Production..
About authorization , if its not sensitive report, BASIS can restrict at transaction level.
    Regards,
    Ravi.

  • Error while releasing a request.

    Hi All,
I'm facing an error while releasing a request.
The request contains an ABAP programs along with two INCLUDDE programs as well as a TCode to run the same.
It is running successfully in dev. server. But, while releasing ths request it shows me the following error :
    " Object REPT ZBAPI_SD_SERV_SALES_ORDER is inactive " ,
where ZBAPI_SD_SERV_SALES_ORDER is the program name. When I checked out in ABAP editor it shows the program active.
But, I'm unable to understand why its showing me an inactivation error.
Guys, help me out in this.

    Hi,
Check if the INCLUDE program are also ACTIVE. They must be in inactive state. Try activating them and release the request.
    Regards,
    Vikranth

  • Report RFKLBU10: Missing Parameter for Logical filename in Release ERP 2005

    Hello Experts,
Report RFKLBU10 in Sap Release 4.6c hat a parameter "Old dataset logical name".
The new version of this report in SAP Release ERP 2005 there is no such parameter.
    Is this a SAP-Bug ?
    Best regards,
    Mike

There are no Export or Print events accessible for the viewer
Since it sounds like you are creating the reportdocument object in your click event, the settings on this object become out of scope on successive postbacks executed by other events.
to get around this without major changes, you can place your "report" object in session in this event and retrieve it from session on successive postbacks.  This should solve your problems around navigation, printing and exporting.  What you will need to do is check if the session object exists (usually in page_load or page_initialze) and if so, retrieve it from session and bind it to the viewer's reportsource.  If the session object does not exist, then do nothing (ie you have not clicked your button yet that retrieves the parameter values from session and loads the report).  Also, in your click event you can check if the report session object exists and if so, remove it so that it can be re-created with your new parameter values (ie i'm assuming the only time you want to set parameter values is in this event).

  • Partner Application in release 2

    Hello,
I have to create a new PL/SQL partner application in the release 902.
Where is the new sso sdk for the new Portal release?
In the new pdk seems that it is the same of the 309 release (ssosdk307_032101 or ssosdk307)...
And the pl/sql example code in the Oracle9 iAS Single Sign-On Application Developers Guide is not working...
Can someone give me some feedback?
    Thank you and regards,
    Lorenzo.

    Lorenzo,
Did you get any feedback on this posting? I'm also working with Release 2 (9.0.2) and is just about to start implementing the Java SSO SDK. The latest release of SSO SDK I've found is 307. According to the documentation this version supports SSO server 3.0.6 to 3.0.8, thus not Release 2. Please reply if you have any news regarding SSO SDK for Release 2.
    Best Regards,

  • Issues fixed in FM 7.1 release

Adobe FrameMaker 7.1 for English, French and German was released on January 10, 2004. The following is a list of issues fixed in this release.
    250374
FDK: FA_Note_PreSetAttrValue notification not sent for new elements. If a client subscribes to FA_Note_PreSetAttrValue events, it will get a notification when one changes an attribute by double clicking it in the Structure view. However, on creation of a new element through the element catalog, if an attribute is set, no notification is sent.
    This issue has been resolved.
    277554
FDK: F_ApiUnStraddleCells() does not work as expected.
When unstraddling cells through the API, all the cells except the leading cell have no paragraph end marks (they are completely empty). Clicking into such cells takes the text cursor to the location of the table anchor. Inserting a character into the paragraph with the table anchor seems to correct the table.
    This issue has been resolved.
    310049
FDK: F_ApiImport shows a dialog upon import of SGML entities.
When importing an SGML fragment by reference using F_ApiImport, FrameMaker displays a dialog asking whether the text inset should be updated automatic or manually. This setting should be controlled from import-parameters.
Currently there is no way of creating a client that imports a large number of SGML text-insets without having a user sitting by the keyboard and clicking OK for each imported entity.
    This issue has been resolved.
    314764
FDK: F_ApiDelete does not work properly on elements inside a TextInset. When you try to delete an element that is part of a TextInset, the whole TextInset is removed.
The work around for this is to unlock the text before calling F_ApiDelete and to lock the text after this call. The calls to unlock and lock the text are given below:
    To unlock - F_ApiSetInt(docId, insetId, FP_TiLocked, False);
    To lock - F_ApiSetInt(docId, insetId, FP_TiLocked, True);

(don't include) Marker element gets included and merged in PDF bookmarks with previous heading. In FrameMaker 6.0, the document prints to PDF as expected--the bookmarks in Acrobat PDF contain the Section2/Heading as expected, such as:
    Spark Plug Threads
and Lamp Base and Electrical Fixture Threads
In FrameMaker 7.0, the document prints to PDF with the Section2/Heading merged with the Run.head marker element, even though Run.head is in the ''Don't include'' list of elements in the PDF Setup dialog box.

FP_InsetFile has a value of "BadFileName" when SGML importing misses a graphic data file. If you import an SGML file that would read external graphic files and these data files are missing, then skipping or ignoring them results in "BadFileName" pathname for each object property. This makes FDK API Client not get FP_InsetFile property value for the FO_Inset object.

Revision remark (revremark) element is mapped to different element names in EDD and rules. Rules for XDocBook in $FMHOME/structure/xml/xdocbook/app translate revremark to RevRemark. However, EDD (ECM) defines Revremark as mapping for revremark element. Hence a valid xdocbook XML document with revremark is shown as invalid (with unknown RevRemark element) in FrameMaker.

Similaryly read for SP06 fixes at - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm71/helpdata/en/be/e0048b426b4c20957078b61ec71e46/content.htm
These links gives you an idea of what all changes are going to come into your new system. So unless you upgrade to SP07 i.e. the latest version and test it in DEV/Sandbox environment you should not plan to move ahead in Production. This is always recommended but there is very less chance that the already working solution will not work as expected after the upgrade.
