Do all monitors work from MacBook?

Hello there,
Im looking to purchase a 27" monitor for my macbook.
Im looking at the benq 27", have asked them the same question. Will it work? I'll be using a mini-DVI connector.
Whats best, DVI or HDMI ? im aware you can get converters. The monitor is capable of both.
Thanks for you help!

Hey Parker and welcome to the forum -
According to your signature, you have a unibody MacBook and they use a Mini DisplayPort connector and not a mini-DVI which was used in the older models. HDMI is better quality than DVI. It should work but I would check with benq support if it's not part of their literature.

•I have just bought a Toshiba external hard disk to back up all my work from my macbook and its not working! I have checked the hard disk

its not working: (sorry for being so ambiguous), the computer recognises it, it comes up on my desktop, when i open it and try and drag a file across, it is unable to go into the drive, there is just a symbol indicating 'no' (i've read the instructions from Tosheba and there is no help). I have not partitioned the drive using the GUID partition scheme - i dont know what this means?!

  • How can I transfer all my photos from macbook air to macbook pro? Thank you!

    HI
How can I transfer my photos from Macbook air to my Macbook pro? Can I use something that exports all my photos. I have tried with an external disk, but I not so happy with it, because I would like to keep events and it looks like some are missing. Thank you

You should be able to move the iPhoto Library via an external disk. iPhoto 9.5: Move your iPhoto library to a new location

You erase everything and put the factory operating system back on from the Internet Recovery (command option r held at boot time),
If the factory operating system was 10.6, 10.5 or 10.4, then you put 10.6. using the disks.

  • Will all samsung led monitors work with macbook air?

recommendations for best 27" led monitor ( not a gamer), watching movies, when not working ~$400?

It is OK to use. See the quote below from Find the right power adapter and cord for your Mac notebook - Apple Support
Power adapters for Apple notebooks are available in 45W, 60W, and 85W varieties. You should use the appropriate wattage power adapter for your Apple notebook. You can use a higher wattage adapter without issue, but doing this won't make your computer charge faster or operate any differently. Lower wattage adapters will not provide enough power.

  • Will I lose all my work from free trial to purchase?

Hi, my free trial of Lr is ending in 4 days. I have lots of photos in my library and am working on a Blurb book. I'll need more time with Lr but how can I subscribe and keep my current content?  In other words, if I signup to buy Lr, will I lose all the content I worked on during the free trial period or will it transfer to the new account?

No, you won't lose anything. If you purchase Lightroom from Adobe online and receive a serial number, you can activate the trial version you are now using. And even if it requires installing a new Lightroom program for some reason, it won't have any effect on your work. All of your work is stored in the catalog which is a user file. And user files are not replaced or modified when updating.

  • Aperture installation deleted all image files from MacBook Pro.

After installing Aperture 3, I noticed that all the image files I had on my MacBook Pro immediately disappeared. These were stored in various locations throughout my computer depending on subject (e.g. "Emergency Response Training", "Summer 2009", "Car Restoration" and so on). A small number were in the "Pictures" folder but most were kept in other locations. All the folders and subfolders where these images were stored are intact but the images are gone. There is simply a "thumbs.db" file inside and the folder size is about 6 kb on average.
I did nothing other than install Aperture (no importing or library creation) and none of these images or folders are in the Aperture library. A similar thing happened with iPhoto where all my iphoto thumbnails show up but there appears to be no actual photo. No images prior to Aperture installation appear anywhere on the Macbook using tailored queries with "Find".
Apple support indicated that Aperture would not search out these photos unless prompted and would never delete them but It's hard to imagine how else this could have happened, as it happened only during installation (subsequent photos are fine) and targeted all image files in every location. Hard drive is new and indicates no problems.
Any ideas what might have happened - and, more importantly, how I might be able to recover the missing images? Unfortunately, my upgrade to Lion obliterated my DNS 321 back up disk, as well, and I don't yet know if I can recover those files.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Apple support claimed it was impossible for Aperture to delete files, as well, Allen. All I can tell you is I installed Aperture and the files immediately disappeared. I installed Aperture with the intention of learning its capabilities over the ensuing months, as I had never used it before, and so made sure to do nothing but install and launch so I could have a look at it and see how it was set up.
The network hard drive obliteration occured when I was trying to transfer novie files from my Macbook to my DNS 321 network drive, which I use to store all my backups and most of my media files. I've done this countless times with Snow Leopard without a hitch. However, when I tried it with Lion the system locked up during the transfer and I lost my connection to the drive. Once I managed to reconnect, I found that I couldn't get into the folders on the network drive anymore. All that would come up was a "My Documents" folder, which had no content. After doing a websearch I discovered that Lion no longer supports DNS 321 and that others with similar style drives had been having similar problems. What might be unique to my situation was that when I hooked up an old PC to the DNS 321 I was able to get back into my original folder set up but I found that the folders labelled from (A to J) were missing entirely and that the remaining folders had no content.
So, as I mentioned in my first post, the only input from me was installation and launch of Aperture and the only thing I was doing with my network drive was transferring movie files from the Macbook to the DNS 321 drive. If neither of those actions could possibly have caused the problems I described, I'd be very eager to learn what did.

  • Will a large Apple monitor work with MacBook Pro without add on hardware?

Can I just plug a large Apple monitor into my Mac Pro and have it work or do I need a special card? I'd like to attach a 30" Apple display.
    Thanks!

You'll get more applicable answers if you ask in the MacBook Pro forum, then. What applies to a Mac Pro, which is what this forum is for, and to the MacBook Pro may be very different.
When you repost, please be sure to specific your exact model of MacBook Pro. You can get this information by running System Profiler and looking in the Hardware section for the model identifier, processor name and processor speed. Knowing exactly what you have may be important in answering your question.

  • "Share Screen" not working from MacBook to iMac

    Hello friends.
I have an iMac (OS 10.6.6, 3.06 GHz core 2 Duo) and a MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.6, 2,53 GHz core 2 Duo)
It's been a while since I had this problem, and I could not solve it.
When I try to connect from iMac to MacBook (from Finder, in shared computers). I click into Share Screen and the login panel appears. After I type the user/password, the program "Share Screen" crashes and never get connected.
It doesn't happen in the other way. I have tried to replace the program from one computer to other and still happening. I have the crash report in case it is needed.
I hope that you could help me fixing this problem, as I am desesperated.
    Thanks in advance,
    David

Usually when a program crashes in this way, it's a problem with the program itself rather than a configuration error.
Have you tried the "Repair Permissions, Zap PRAM, Repair Disc" sequence?
    Good luck,
    Archie

  • Removal all personal information from macbook before sending to reseller

I want to purchase a new macbook and would like to send my 2008 in for resale but I would like to insure there is no personal information remaining.  How is this accomplished?

You should use the original install disks that came with the computer to erase the disk and reinstall the system and bring it back to 'Out of the box' condition (i.e. as it was when it was purchased). You don't have the right to include any software you added later as this is licenced to you. You should also include the disks when selling it as the new owner will need them if he runs into a need to reinstall.
To erase the disk, insert the install disk (or the first one if there is more than one) and reboot holding the 'C' key down. When it's loaded, don't start an install but from the 'Utilities' menu choose 'Disk Utility'. Select the internal disk in the list on the left and then click 'Erase'. Name the disk 'Macintosh HD' and set the 'Format' drop-down menu to 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'.
When the erasure has taken place quit Disk Utility and proceed with the installation

  • Only two of three monitors working since upgrading to 10.9.3

Only two of my three monitors work since installing 10.9.3. I want to roll back to 10.9.2. How should I do this?

I had already tried that configuration. It was working fine until I upgraded to 10:9.3.  If I boot into the recovery disk volume, all three monitors work. If I boot from a backup/clone of my drive prior to installing 10.9.3, all monitors work fine.
Any other suggestions will be welcomed.

    Hi,
if your printer is supported to be published in the Internet, you may able to do this. If it is not supported and if the Printer is not in the same network or directly connects
to your Windows Server 2003, I’m afraid that there is no method to setup.
