Do I need to setup TMS for SolMan?

Hi,
I am new to SolMan. I need to setup in order to use Maintenance Optimizer.
Does SolMan need to have TMS configured like other SAP solutions, Dev, QA and Prod? Or there is only one Solman setup and it does everything we need?
Thank you.

Usually there will be only one Solution manager in the landscape . You mainly use this for central monitoring, Maintenance Optimizer , creating Keys, Service Desk , proj documentation etc and you are not doing any development work in here. So it does not make sense to have Dev, QA and PRD for solution manager. But you can have a sandbox which will help you to test the Support packs before applying directly in production. Maintenance Optimizer can be configured with Solution manager .
Thanks

    Hi gurus ,
    i need the check  list for solution manager implementation and what are the things to be discuss with the client , i am new to SOLMAN, i have to do this by the evening , any one can help me out
    Cheers

    Hi Gopal,
    I am not sure if this thread of yours is in continuation of the other thread you have started which has been replied by two other Forum members.
    The checklist depends upon which Scenario(s) of SolMan you are trying to implement.
    - Implementation/ Upgrade of ERP systems
    - Service Desk
    - Change Request Monitoring
    - Diagnostics
    - Solution Monitoring (includes BPM/ Interface monitoring)
    - Delivery of SAP Services (EWA, .....)
    Unless you specify the scenario you are seeking information on, it is difficult for anyone to pose a satisfactory reply.

  • Need to setup filesharing for 15 macs / photo retouching

    I'm currently using a 4TB Buffalo Terastation NAS, with all users connected by ethernet. What's the best way to improve overall speed performance? Users need to work directly off the shared drive. We are a small retouching studio. The current setup is very slow, esp. when multiple users save/move files at the same time.
    Could I use Snow Leopard server running on a Mac Mini and if so what are my fastest storage options? Am I limited to Firewire 800 speeds?

    When you hit a raid with 15 threads, (even low bandwidth) it will slow down a great deal.
    When we set up systems like this for video editors, we configure and optimize the raids for shared access.
    Also, keep in mind that when you do a finder drag to your local machines, the bottleneck will be your local harddisk. It probably tops out at 40MB/sec. I imagine your clients are mostly gigabit.
    Small Tree sells storage and very large network cards (6 port gigabit and 10Gb) for just this kind of thing. You should check us out.

  • Need to setup javamail for testing

    Hi team, I am new to Java. I am not able to compile javamail application. I download javamail-1.4.1 and jaf-1.0.2 under c:\.
    I was update a classpath like this.
    .;C:\j2sdk1.4.2_16\bin;c:\javamail-1.4.1\mail.jar;c:\jaf-1.0.2\activation\activation.jar.
    Here is my program
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    // SUBSTITUTE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESSES HERE!!!
    String to = "[email protected]";
    String from = "[email protected]";
    // SUBSTITUTE YOUR ISP'S MAIL SERVER HERE!!!
    String host = "mail.yahoo.com";
    // Create properties, get Session
    Properties props = new Properties();
    // If using static Transport.send(),
    // need to specify which host to send it to
    props.put("mail.smtp.host", host);
    // To see what is going on behind the scene
    props.put("mail.debug", "true");
    Session session = Session.getInstance(props);
    try {
    // Instantiatee a message
    Message msg = new MimeMessage(session);
    //Set message attributes

    InternetAddress[] address = {new InternetAddress(to)};
    msg.setRecipients(Message.RecipientType.TO, address);
    msg.setSubject("Test E-Mail through Java");
    msg.setSentDate(new Date());
    // Set message content
    msg.setText("This is a test of sending a " +
    "plain text e-mail through Java.\n" +
    "Here is line 2.");
    //Send the message
    Transport.send(msg);
    catch (MessagingException mex) {
    // Prints all nested (chained) exceptions as well
    mex.printStackTrace();
    }//End of class
    When i compile this program i am getting below message

    Thanks in Advance

    Hopefully it was clear from the error message that javac didn't even try to
    compile your program. Perhaps you need to name your file "TestEmail.java"
    instead of "TestEmail.Java"?
    Also, if you're still using JDK 1.4.2, it's way past time to upgrade. JDK 1.6 has
    been available for a long time. And you don't need the JDK directory in your
    CLASSPATH.
    Finally, double check that the mail.jar and activation.jar files exist at the
    locations you used in your CLASSPATH. That's not your current problem,
    but it will be important later.

  • HT1752 need printer setup utility for OS. 10.3.7.

    Mac mini from '05 or '06. Os 10.3.7 installed Tiger. several utilities won't work. printer setup ut and About this Mac. (wont show details) etc. There isno software update. Nothing shows. How can I update this mac?

    Hello, so you have a 10.4 Install disc that worked?
    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at the top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • Need logical setup advice for new iTunes on external HDD and new laptop

    New to Win7, would like to know the best way to re-create from scratch my 5+ year old iTunes library on a new external hard drive without simply copying the previous iTunes folder structure over. I guess that I would like to add all the music, video, movie and iPhone app files to a new library. What is the best method to do this so that iTunes can organize all of the new data from scratch correctly? What about reauthorizing apps and media I purchased through iTunes? anything special to do to reintroduce this data to a new iTunes?
    (to clarify - I intend to install the iTunes program on my local C drive in programs on the laptop and all data on the external drive) Thanks...

    Steve M. wrote:
    I know I should have redundant backups and should probably have a second external HD and eventually will.
    Yes, that's best.
    But for now, if I partition (I'm assuming I should) a new 1 TB external HD, how big should I make the TM partition vs. the SD partition at this point assuming I have under 100 GB on my internal Mac HD? Is this a feasible way of doing things here in the near term.
    Your best bet is to make your TM partition 2-3 times the size of the amount of data you anticipate backing-up. Put it first on the drive; that way, later on you can delete the partition below it, expand the TM partition, and make a new, smaller partition for SD (or use the whole drive). See #1, #3, #5 and #6 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum, for details.
    By the way, any recommendations on which peripheral HDs to consider? I was very surprised on a recent visit to my local Apple Store that they have a large stock of WD My Studio drives. I mentioned to an Apple sales person that I had always heard WDs were kind of a no-no among Mac users but she assured me the current crop of them were much improved. Any comment on that??
    Most any drive will work with Macs, and Time Machine.
    If you're going to put a "bootable clone" on it, be sure it's a bootable drive. Most PPC Macs can boot only from FireWire; most Intels can boot from F/W or USB. But some Western Digitals won't boot a Mac. Their list of which ones should and +should not+ boot: http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/stdadp.php?pfaqid=1787. But note the disclaimer that they don't support it +*at all.+*.
    In addition, many of them have a built-in sleep mode that cannot be disabled, and sometimes interferes with Time Machine backups: http://wdc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/wdc.cfg/php/enduser/stdadp.php?pfaqid=1376

  • How to setup QoS for IP/Mac Address WRVS4400N

    I need some help setting up QoS for two Cisco/Linksys devivces on my network.
    Network devices are Comcast SB6120 modem into WRVS4400n (v2.0.2.1 firmware) that divides into one 24 port gigabit Netgear unmanaged switch, 1 port into AT&T Cisco Microcell, 1 port to HP Officejet 7700 wired printer.  Unmanaged switch has approx 10 devices attached (including another 8 port unmanaged gigabit switch).  3 static leases are defined for the network for three devices (HP OJ 7700 printer, Cisco/Linksys PAP2 VOIP adapter, windows home server v1.  DHCP is handled by WRVS4400n.  Comcast service provides 12mbps of service upstream, 4mbps downstream.
    Need to setup QoS for AT&T Microcell and PAP2 VOIP adapter.  The real issue that I can't figure out how to configure is IP based priority access.  I can do rate control for an IP address but can't figure out how to specify priority control for an IP.
    Here are my the current config questions:
    1.  Bandwidth management page:  For the microcell device plugged into port 1, do i set the default CoS to 4 or 1?
    2.  Bandwidth management page:  Should the bandwidth management type be set to priority?  I assume yes since I need to define the UDP/TCP ports for priority.  The major issues here are
    a) one of the ports the Microcell uses is secure https (TCP 443) which is could also be used by any other internet device.
    b) can't specify priority for the PAP2, since it's behind the unmanaged 24 port switch
    3.  QoS setup page:  Do I need just 2 queues (one for the port ID for the Microcell and one for the IP address of the Linksys adapter)?
    4.  QoS setup page:  I assume I need to define DSCP for the unmanaged switch but not sure how to tie a queue to an IP address
    4.  QoS setup page:  Shoud priority 0 be set for the most important queue (microcell) and the priority 1 CoS be for the VOIP adapter?  Again, not sure about how to define priority by IP address.
    5.  DSCP setup page:  As far as I can find, there's no documentation on how to setup this page.

    That's what I do. I keep it simple, one calendar, one set of contacts.
    iCloud is really the simplest way to go, as it will sync your (eventual) single Contacts and Calendar across all your devices.
    I would:
    Figure out which single calendar (in Calendar.app) and contacts (in Contacts.app) that you want to keep.
    I'd make a backup of each one. For example,
    in Contacts, File > Export... > Contacts Archive...
    in Calendar, File > Export... > Calendar Archive...
    Make a backup of the other calendar events and contacts that you want to save.
    delete all the contacts and calendars from your phones and your iPad.
    add the contacts and events from the backups to the single calendar in Calendar.app and your contacts in Contacts.app on your iMac. There is probably some way to export the contacts and events you are adding, and then combine them, but you could also just add them manually.
    Then when you configure all your devices for iCloud, they will be all synced automatically.

  • Setup freight for miscellaneus ship to party

    Hi,
    I have a scenario where i need to setup freight for a certain sold to party and miscellaneous ship to party. which mean whenever a  certain sold to party and miscellaneous ship to party (meaning ship to party could be anyone) a certain freight should be applied to the sales order.
    Can i do it in SPRO config. or it will require some code.
    thanks

    Hi,
    a. Set up a one time ship - to customer. Assign it to your sold to. The advantage of setting up one time customer is that, every time you enter a sales order for such customer, SAP gives a pop up for the new address. So, you can use this one time customer whenever there is such miscellaneous ship to party scenario comes up.
    b. Set up the condition table and access sequence and condition type for the fright. Make sure that condition table takes up ship to party in the sales order.
    c. Maintain the condition record for freight.
    Now, when you create the sales order and use your miscellaneous customer, the fright condition populates.
    Hope this helps....

    I found a few guides but was not able to locate the correct guide for this particular version.

    Hi Sunil,
    EhP1 for Solution Manager means you have at least SPS18. Therefore documentation based on EhP1 is still valid, although Maintenance Optimizer has been updated as of SPS22+
    You can refer to this guide: https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700002003492008E

    I assume that you are referring to the Ethernet Switch Module in the 3845. If so it should support SPAN. Here is a SPAN configurations guide:
