Do Oracle Reports exist in Release 12?

Hi,
Does Applications Release 12 have Standard Reports in Oracle Developer Reports?
Thanks,
Salim

Would that mean that if I created a custom report executable abc.rdf, I would still be able to register this report in Oracle Applications Release 12 and run it as a concurrent program.
From the above two posts I am still a little confused about Oracle Apps Standard Reports, so I will rephrase the question:
Is 'All the Standard Oracle Apps Reports in Release 11i have been converted to XML reports in Release 12' a correct statement?

  • Developing Oracle Reports Manually

    I'm in the process of understanding Oracle Report Builder via "OCP Application Developer Exam Guide". I know the book discusses a lot of information concerning Reports, but at a high level. Which books do you recommend to better understand the specifics of Reporter Builder. Also, I need to deploy these reports to several platforms(i.e. Oracle database, e-mail to customer, web(PDF).
    Any suggestions for reference knowledge, thanks.

  • Oracle Reports 9i release date???

    Dear All,
    Has there been a release date set for Oracle Reports 9i? We are having some serious installation issues with Oracle Reports 6i clashing with Oracle 8.0.6 database, 9i Application Server, and trying to get the demos installed so that we can really learn how to use this tool that seems like it will definitely fit our web app reporting needs.
    Thanks in advance for any info,
    Jeff

    Almost a week later, and still no change to the Express Edition download page. There must be some last minute bugs to fix.
    At least 11gR2 XE fixes the problem (that exists with 10gR2 XE) on Windows where starting the Oracle XE service does not open the database.
    Edit: that Oracle newsletter has been edited. It now says: "Oracle Database, Express Edition 11g is now available for download as a beta release, +and the production release is imminent+."

  • Oracle Reports 6i with Oracle 8.1.7?

    Solaris 7 (sparc)
    Oracle RDBMS 8.1.7
    Reports 6i (release 2)
    I am trying to install Reports 6i on a machine that has Oracle RDBMS 8.1.7 installed already. The last time I tried installing to the same ORACLE_HOME it corrupted all my executables. After reading the docs again, I noticed the Reports docs say Reports requires Orcle 8.0.6. I thought it might be better to install to a new ORACLE_HOME (/u01/app/oracle/product/8.0.6), however, there is no RDBMS installed there and the installer complains.
    Could someone offer some suggestions on how it should be installed in this type of environment. What steps should be followed to allow Oracle Reports 6i to co-exist peacefully on the same machine/ORACLE_HOME as the Oracle 8.1.7 instance.
    Thanks

  • How to Publish a report created by Oracle report builder

    Hi Everyone
    My colleague and I were trying to use the Oracle Reports Builder to replace our existing reports generator from our ERP system. We have already created the report in the Reports Builder from the development suite.
    What we are looking for is a similar solution as the Microsoft reporting service;
    1) create the company report templates
    2) and then upload the template files to a location (e.g. folder on the server)
    3) then all user in the company can access it by a web browser with some fields which they can enter some critiria (e.g. purchase order number).
    4) then send to printer and the print out should look exactly like the template.
    Unfortunately, we had very bad time on try to find out what we need and how to publish that Oracle report we created. We spent 15 hours on that but no result.
    In that 15 hours we tried to setup the "Oracle report service", but at last my colleague said that wasnt what we looking for, the "Oracle report service" is for reporting the error from the application hosted on the server, not for publish the company report created by the "Oracle report bulider" .
    We use Oracle Database 10g for the ERP quite a long time already. We had the Oracle Developer Setup, and the Application Server Installed.
    Could someone please tell us what kind of Oracle service we are actually looking for. Any other suggestion and setup guides are also the most welcoming.
    Best Regards
    Bryan

    Hello,
    If you want to be able to execute your Reports on the web, the best solution is to use the "Oracle Application Server"
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101202.html
    For example , the "Forms & Reports Services Standalone" edition
    Then, use the Reports Servlet to submit the execution requests to a Reports Server :

    Action: Check that all referenced programs, including their package bodies, exist and are compatible.
    Ignore my previous suggestion (removing objects), check the following:
    Is there any library attached to this report (pll/plx)?
    <pre>
    1. If yes, then
    -check if library exists on the linux server and preferably in the same folder with reports
    -recompile the library
    -open rdf file and remove the library
    -attach the library again, and make sure you remove the path
    -copy the library and report file on linux and run the report
    2. If no (no library is attached), then
    -are there any database package/function/procedure are being used in the report?
    -if yes, then
    -check the status of that package/function/procedure
    </pre>
    Hope this helps.

  • Oracle Report or JarperReport

    hello
    I need a recommendation.
    that serious better for the reports because he/she also listens something on Oracle Report.
    which gives me but advantages in the handling of reports JasperReport or Oracle Report????
    which those advantages are????

    buks, et-al,
    first let me give a brief "when to use reports" statement. Oracle Reports has been our (Oracle's) enterprise reporting tool for a very long time (more than 15 years) and is used by a very large customer base.
    it is true, that oracle reports does not necessarily solve all problems in the reporting space, as it's primary audience is high-volume, high-fidelity enterprise reporting environments. as such, it is a highly specialized deveopment tool for exactly this problem space.
    over the years features have been added to allow those enterprise reporting customers to branch out into other areas and technologies (e.g. java importer to use java code from inside reports, extensibility using java plugins, etc.) but our primary target audience was and is the reporting crowd.
    i understand that from a java developer perspective, oracle reports might not provide enough capabilities to tie in with the different kinds of java technologies, but our java plugins and other capabilities solve the requirements of our core audience.
    specialized tools that focus on reporting in the java space focus on making reporting accessible for java developers, following java desing patterns and ideas. however in most cases (and i have to admit, i don't really know JasperReport in any detail) do not provide a fully fledged enterprise reporting environment or require significant java knowledge to work productivly.
    but now to go into more detail regarding your particular questions :
    1. Jdev/OC4J integration/Developer suite always a release behind.
    Oracle Reports is shipped as part of the Oracle Developer Suite, Oracle Application Server EE, Oracle BI and Oracle BI Tools and as such is synchronized with the respective versions of JDeveloper and OC4J that come with those respective releases. Oracle JDeveloper is being released as a stand alone product inbetween Developer Suite Releases and the same is true for the Container for Java, in some instances.
    2. The use of existing methods implemented in BC4J application modules.
    you can use the Java Importer to access java classes using PL/SQL wrappers or you can create your own data source plugin that uses BC4Js.
    3. Difficulty in setting up the layout.
    The reports layout model is designed to allow highly complex reports which are common in enterprise reporting environments. The concepts of hierarchical frames, etc. can make it complex at times, especially for end-users or occasional users of the product. But since reports is really targeted at a professional development crowd, it is our goal to provide most possible freedom in creating reports.
    4. How do you create a consistent layout so that reports look alike?
    not quite sure what exactly you are looking for here, you can use templates to define look and feel similarities, or you can create one master report as a basis that your developers can use to add their own parts.
    5. Can you use more than one template for a report?\
    not at this point. the templating model of reports is restricted to one at a time. using multiple tempates brings the problem of merging definitions and dealing with conflicts inside the templates.
    6. How do you put a footer for every page of the report?
    you can put objects in the margin area of your report and by that create page headers and/or footers. you can also define objects to be printerd on first/last/all-but-first/all-but-last/all pages and that way create things like repeating table headers for a table spanning mutliple pages.
    7. How do you get the footer to print something different for the last page?
    see above, all-but-last print condition on objects in the layout area will print them on accordingly. you can also use format triggers to determine whether an object should be printed or not.
    for further technical questions, please post them on the Oracle Reports forum here on OTN.
    thanks
    ph.

  • Oracle reports 6i to Oracle forms 10g migration

    Hi,
    I have .rdf files which were created on Oracle Reports 6i. I would like to migrate the .rdf files into Oracle Reports module which is present as a part of Oracle Forms 10g to generate PDF output.
    Please let me know the detailed steps to be followed as I am a total newbie. Also I need to generate these reports on demand from a java 5 application (JSF 2.0).
    Currently for ORacle reports 6i, I have the following code in my java application
    rwrun60.exe g:\tomcat33\webapps\reports\web-inf\src\null userid=***/*** destype=FILE desformat="pdf" paramform=NO printjob=NO batch=YES desname=temp.pdf
    1. What would be the equivalent for reports in ORacle Forms 10g ? I know there is an Oracle Apps server where ther report services reside. How to I invoke my report from my java application (residing on a weblogic server 10.3.6)?
    2. What ould I do with the 6i .rdf files to upgrade them to 10g ?

    I am trying to call an Oracle report i.e .rdf (which is located on the Oracle  App Server) from my java EE 5 (JSF) application. The Oracle  App server is Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2. I assume Oracle report generation capability is available in this release.  I need to invoke the report from my Java JSF application on demand (whenever the user clicks a button on the web browser page, the report should appear on the browser as PDF) . My java application resides on Linux weblogic server.
    Please let me know how it can be done ? I see rwclient.sh and another method to directly invoke using a URL. How do I do it on java, would a request.redirect() to the URL work ?
    Also for hiding the params in the URL. keys need to be configured on the Oracle server right ?
    Also if we use rwclient.sh or the URL based invocation, would there be any issue in concurrency when multiple users request the same report at the same time ?

    "arial narrow" = "Arialn.ttf"
    # This example shows how to subset Arial True Type font into the PDF file:
    # helvetica = "Arial.ttf"
    # The True Type font files must exist in any one of the folders specified in
    # REPORTS_PATH.
    # Subsetting TrueType Collection fonts:
    # Typically, a TTC font contains several fonts in one file. For example,
    # the TTC file, msgothic.ttc consists of three fonts in the order -
    # MS Gothic, MS PGothic and MS UI Gothic. To subset MS PGothic, the
    # entry in the PDF:Subset section of uifont.ali would be:
    # "MS PGothic" = "msgothic.ttc,1"
    # NOTES ON PRECEDENCE OF PDF SECTIONS:
    # If you have entries for a same font in many PDF sections, then Font
    # Aliasing entry will take precedence over Font Subsetting entry. Entries
    # in Font Subsetting will take precedence over the entries in Font Embedding
    # section.
    # Generic entries for a font must follow more specific entries for the same
    # font. For instance, if you want to subset helvetica Plain, helvetica Bold,
    # helvetica Italic and helvetica Bold-Italic fonts, your entries must be:
    # [ PDF:Subset ]
    # helvetica..Italic.Bold.. = "Arialbi.ttf"
    # helvetica...Bold.. = "Arialb.ttf"
    # helvetica..Italic... = "Ariali.ttf"
    # helvetica..... = "Arial.ttf"
    # If helvetica..... entry appears in the top of the list, all the styles of
    # helvetica font in the layout will be subset as helvetica Plain font.

  • How to remove space between pages in Oracle Reports 6i?

    Hi,
    I have customized one oracle report (rdf). Earlier, the standard report was showing the ouput in pages i.e. there exists space beteen the pages. But I want my custom report in such a way that it should show me the result in one page i.e. there should be no space between the pages as user wants to spool the output into excel sheet (xls format) after getting the result output obtained from my custom report. Presently, when i spool the data into excel sheet, there is still the space exists between the pages like...few records will come then white space...then records.
    How can I remove this space, so that user can easily spool the data into excel without existence of white space.
    Any sort of help on this will be highly appreciated.

    Hi,
    My report is running on Unix. When I checked the output file in unix where it is getting generated, i saw ^L characters wherever the space appears when i see the output in apps (notepad) , like after every page where I am able to see the space in my output, there ^L is appearing in output file in unix, so how can I avoid this.
    I tried to adjust the frames and repeatinf frames also, even i tried changing the properties also of main region (body), but nothing is working for me and still the same issue occurs. I am not aware of this. Please suggest me.
    Thanks a lot!

  • Oracle Reports Server CGI - Report Job was cancelled upon user request.

    I am running reports on the web through Forms using Run_Report_Object built in. I am using Oracle 9iAS Enterprise Edition Release 1(1.2.2.2.2), Forms 6i Patch 9 (6.0.8.18.3) and Reports 6i Patch 9 (6.0.8.18) using CGI implementation. Most reports are running fine, but I have one that produces 125 pages and we are getting the following messages in the browser:
    Error: The requested URL was not found, or cannot be served at this time.
    Oracle Reports Server CGI - Report Job was cancelled upon user request.
    However if you look at the Reports Server Queue Status thru the browser it shows that the report did finish, but it took 16 minutes. But the user gets the above message in their browser window.
    Is there a way to get the first page of the report to display, while the rest of the report finishes, so the browser window doesn't timeout and display the above error?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    hi ,
    There is no limit on the report run time. The most probable reason why you are getting the 'Report cancelled upon user request' message is the users might have hit the "cancel Report" button which is displayed when it is running in 'SYNCHRONOUS MODE'. do not hit that button as it will terminate the report. to increase the speed of returning the results by the report, try improving the sql that you use in the report, or if you have DBA rights try adding in INDEXES on the columns of the tables used by the report.
    Hope this helps

  • Getting a report in excel format from oracle report builder 10gDS release2

    Example, given in the last of the page opened from the above url, is not working.
    Can neone plz explain the example and how to use it
    Thanks & Regards

    Ok, for the release 2 its quite straightfoward, in your calling form you would have something like this code:
    declare
         pl_id ParamList;
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    v_rep_status VARCHAR2(20);
    v_repsrv     VARCHAR2(100):= 'yourreportserver';
    v_serv varchar2(50) := 'yourservername' ;
    begin
    pl_id := Get_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    if not id_null(pl_id) then
    Destroy_Parameter_List( pl_id );
    end if;
    pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DESTYPE' ,TEXT_PARAMETER,'Screen' );
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'PARAMFORM' ,TEXT_PARAMETER,'NO' );
    repid := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('yourreport');     SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_COMM_MODE,SYNCHRONOUS);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_EXECUTION_MODE,RUNTIME);
    SET_REPORT_OBJECT_PROPERTY(repid,REPORT_SERVER, v_repsrv);
    set_report_object_property(repid,REPORT_DESTYPE,CACHE );
    set_report_object_property(repid,REPORT_DESFORMAT,'SPREADSHEET' );
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid,pl_id);
    v_rep := substr(v_rep,length(v_repsrv)+2,10 ) ;
    end;
    I have plenty of reports being formated to excel with this same method so it should work for you, the only diference with my previous code is this line.
    set_report_object_property(repid,REPORT_DESFORMAT,'SPREADSHEET' );
    The rest remains untouched.
    Hope it helps.
