Docking / visibility of panels
My problem is on Illustrator CC on a 15" Macbook Pro with Retina display.
I have the tool palette on the left hand side and the panels on the right hand side (Swatches, Stroke, Layer etc.) I would like to dock these panels on the right hand side so that they move with the application frame but I can't find out how. I always have to reposition them when I resize the app frame or if I go to full screen. Is there a solution here?
In addition, sometimes I work from the laptop screen, sometimes I'm plugged into an external 27" monitor. When I move from the external monitor to the laptop screen, the panels often extend beyond the bottom of the screen hiding layers in the layer panel which then can't be accessed. This happens even if I close Illustrator before disconnecting the screen. When I open Illustrator later on the laptop screen these panels extend off the screen and I can't see how to resize them.
Probably the easiest way would be to make two different workspaces with things laid out as you need for the different sizes and switch as needed.

I have Premiere Elements 12 on an iMac and I have mistakenly docked the Transition panel and I can not open it. Please advise. Thanks you.

Thanks for the reply. Very glad that the Restore Workspace resolved the issue.
As for version 13, there have been several removals and some additions to this version.
DV and HDV Captures are gone, webDVD is gone. The version does not support Windows XP, Windows Vista, or
Mac OSX 10.7. The Elements Organizer 13 that comes
with it is new - even has a slideshow for the Mac people as well as the Windows people. This slideshow is different
than that offered in the past - 720p or 1080p slideshows (AVCHD.mp4) with a choice of 5 different themes.
If you are thinking about 13, definitely go the free 30 days tryout from Adobe route prior to any purchase
to assure the compatibility of the program with your computer environment as well as your project goals.
I have written very detailed blogs on
Premiere Elements 13 First Look
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: Premiere Elements 13 First Look Details
and
Premiere Elements 13 Daily Discoveries
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: Premiere Elements 13 Daily Discoveries
and they should give you a good idea of what to expect. The blogs come with no ads, no registration, free - just my place
to keep my observations on Premiere Elements.
If you do try version 13, I would leave your version 12 installed but closed. Use one program at a time. And, then decide
on the program that best serves your video editing needs.

Docking all windows/panels in DWCS3 MAC OS X?
Howdy,
I'm sure the answer to this is no, but I just want 100%
clarification :)
I have a copy of Dreamweaver CS3 I bought for the Mac OS X,
but I also have it on Windows (I'm switching from Windows to Mac),
and I was wondering if there is a way to dock all windows/panels
together in the OS X version like the Windows version?
Let me explain for those who haven;t a clue what I am on
about! In the Windows version (and like all windows apps) DW is
basically all stored in one window, and all the panels are arranged
inside this one window how you want! But the outer window is like
the container, and minimising it, minimises all of the DW panels.
Now in the MAC OS X version, the toolbars/panels etc are all
seperate to the main document window. So when I open a plain new
doc for exmaple, that can be minimised on its own, but all the DW
toolbars stay on my desktop? Whats the point n that? I can't use
the damn toolbars on my desktop!
Can I contain all these windows/panels in one container like
the windows version? So minimising the doc windows minimises the
lot? I'm SURE you could do this on DW 8 on OS X... but I could be
wrong?
OS X Version doesnt even have the "Coder" and "Designer"
workspace layouts, I have to maunally arrange it to mimic the coder
workspace from windows... quite annoying?
I suppose for a avid MACer this is the way mac works with
windows, and I am just so use to MS Windows that it will take some
getting use to, and in a few months I will probably say the Windows
way is crap, but at the moment I don't and want to know if I can
change it?
Anyone have any ideas?

I got rid of my last Mac a few years back, but I thought that
once DW
lost focus, the panels were not in view. If not, press F4.

My guess is that you are wrong, but I might be wrong, too.

You can save layouts, though.

Just wait until you have permission problems. I hope it's
less of a
nightmare for you than it was for me. There are some things I
love
about Mac, but overall, I'll take something I can fix myself.

I've looked through the adobe help/web search and I can't for the life of me figure out how to dock a floating panel in premiere pro 6.0.
Hey Joe,
Yes, I actually went through this and kind can't find the answer. I understand how to do it moving a docked panel where it gives me the drop zones but once it's already a floating panel I can't seem to reactivate drop zones. When I close the window and reopen it from the "window" tab at the top it becomes floating again.
I read through that article twice. I'm not seeing it! -
Cross References Not Visible in Panel
Hi all,
I have been enjoying the Cross References functionality in Indesign CS6 to use dynamic text that changes....until recently.
When i first started using them, the Cross References (CR) would be listed in the Hyperlinks/CR panel.
I can create a destination, create a hyperlink to that destination, change what it shows (I am using Paragraph Number) and it works as it should.
The problem i am having is that the CRs are not visible in the Cross Reference panel (the hyperlinks too for that matter)
This means i cant modify my cross references.
Does anyone know why they wouldnt show in the panel? Or is there any other way to see them?
I need to fix this. I have tried resetting the preferences as i found in other posts, but that didnt helpSOLVED!
The problem appeared to be with my Workspace profile. I changed from my personalised profile to "Interactive for PDF" ( which has the Hyperlinks panel) and it worked. All the Hyperlinks and cross-references show.
I personalised my workspace again with the panels i require and then saved a new workspace with the same name. All works fine after saving a new profile. I am going to take a backup of the workspace file so i can restore it easily if it happens again. -
I wan to i visible/invisble Panel(Adf Component) on UI using ADS?
HI,
Following is my requirement
I am having one panel which should be visible/invisible on UI based on event coming from Web services.
I am consuming one web services which is sending me update which i suppose to read at specified interval.
if there is any update from web services then i suppose to visible/invisible Pane(ADF component)l on UI.
Active Data Service can be useful for this requirement?
If Yes,
Do i need to create Active Data Proxy for this?
Your suggestion will be helpful.
- Deepak ParmarFrank Nimphius,
Thanks for your quick reply. :)
This is really good article which has provided one good way how to trigger event from client whenever we get update from server.
but i am still having some questions:
1) based on post you have provided, if i can able to trigger event from client then do i need to use ADS anymore?
2) Do you have source code for the same? , I want to see how ADS is playing role here.
3) if i am getting update from web services then do i need to create Active Data Proxy?

Hi,
Does anyone else have a problem with the dock still being visible (it doesn't go away) after you invoke Time Machine?
It's really annoying, as it prevents me from using the buttons on the bottom of Time Machine. The dock is fully functional in Time Machine...
But I'm unable to restore anything, as the restore button is blocked by the dock...
All help/tips is appreciated. This is leefromreminderville and I did just drag the TM icon to my dock, for whatever that is worth. There is no option to "keep in dock". Menu bar TM is still going round and round and says 61kb of 246.16GB for more than an hour now. No clue why.

A Win7 taskbar, Ubuntu Unity or OS X dock for gnome-panel?
Is there a widget for gnome-panel that I can add applications to and at the same time show open applications, with only one icon per application?
As the title suggest, I want something similar to the Windows 7 taskbar, or the Ubuntu Unity sidebar, or the OS X dock.
I'm aware of Gnome Do. But it has a separate dock. I want these application icons to appear in a normal gnome panel.guidito73 wrote:

Floating/docking mode for panels
Hey,
I'd like to create a framework of panels that way, so that I am able to switch to a docking/floating mode and be able to separate or adjoin panels - I am not quite sure how it is called in swing - I already checked out the "Creating a GUI with JFC/Swing" tutorial, but as I said I don't know how that feature is called, so I wasn't able to find it.
I appreciate any kind of help :)
thanks

I completely agree than the toolbars take up too much space.
So do the
panels. I once took screenshots comparing panel sizes in FH
5.5 and FHMX.
http://www.judyarndt.ca/fhmx/panel_width.gif
It bugs me that I have to have the view, color and snap
dividers in the
toolbox. My toolbar solution, sort of, has been to use the
Info and Envelope
toolbars as catch-alls for my most-used icons -- align, path
operations,
Xtras. I fill them up to the full width of my screen.
While I appreciate customizable toolbars, I think the
programmers tried to
design the interface so that new users could find their way
around, but gave
little thought to the experienced user who does not need all
that
hand-holding, and would much prefer to reclaim that wide
swath of screen
real estate.

Greetings,
I'm a LabView 'newbee' and I have a basic question. How do I make a VI's front panel invisible? I have one main VI which implemates and controls a state machine (simple mediator pattern), but I do not want the front panel of the main VI to be visible. I saw one example where one VI controlled another VI, but not the VI controlling itself ('this instance' reference?). Any suggestions would very appreciated.
JMAIn LabVIEW 7.1 you can use the "state" property of a front panel window to hide it.
But whether or not this is a sensible thing to do for your application is another matter.

Library: My volumes are no longer visible as panels
In the Library module, under Folders I now hav Macintosh HD as a panel (with a green light). My other volumes are to be found in the tree in Macintosh HD in the folder Volumes. I don't know how they disappeared from their place as panels, but I want them back. How to?

Docking the "Main" and "Controller" panels
In the past, all versions of Flash allowed you to dock the
Main and Controller panels under or in the top portion of the
program. CS4 doesn't seem to allow the docking of these panels any
longer... Is this just a simple thing that they forgot or am I
missing something? I can drag the panels to the top, but they are
floating, not actually docked to anything. I tried moving them all
over the program to see if they were "dockable" somewhere else and
they are not.
Any ideas or is this something I will have to get used to?
ThanksUnfortunately those two are not panels in the same sense that
everything else is. They were -supposed- to become panels, but for
some reason they did not. Basically it's a bug, it's been reported
and will have to be revised in a future version. -
hi all;
i have got a problem in applet. i have created different panels. every panel contains different objects like button and table. when i click on one button to visible one panel and come back to main menu and click another button to open another panel which also contains table, then applet gets freeze doesnt perform any function.
any help please.......Based on your vague description of the problem there is not much help I can give you.
So, I'll just point you to the Swing tutorial on [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/layout/card.html]How to Use Card Layout which has a working example of swapping panels in a frame. -
I have no dock & hard drive not visible
I have got an old G4 ibook. it starts up o.k and the screen saver comes up and so does password box. but after that there is no dock visible and no hard drive etc to be seen. I have looked at it as a target disc and it is all there and even run diagnostics on it and it seems fine. the curser moves fine but I can't do anything with it. Anyone got any ideas as to what I can do?
managed to do it by this which I found
Here's how to reset your OS X password without an OS X CD. You need to enter terminal and create a new admin account:
Reboot
Hold apple + s down after you hear the chime.
When you get text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
mount -uw /
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
shutdown -h now
After rebooting you should have a brand new admin account. When you login as the new admin you can simply delete the old one and you're good to go again!
As of yet. I have not been able to get rid of old account and need to as it has loads of stuff on it and is filling up the hard drive almost to capacity. I don't want to log on in old account as am afraid that it will revert to having no dock & visible items again.
how can I erase old account
