Documaker 12.2.1 Released

Oracle Documaker 12.2.1 was released yesterday (Oct. 31, 2013) to the Oracle Support site.  To download login to Oracle Support and select the Patches & Updates tab.  Select 'Product or Family (Advanced) on the search tab and enter Oracle Documaker as the product and select Documaker 12.2 or Documaker Desktop 12.2 as the Release and click search.  You may also select your platform before clicking the search button to further narrow the results.
Documentation, including the release notes and readme files, is available on OTN at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E41180_01/e41180_01_index.html.

Thanks for the response. We use send to flex script to convert xer to pdf. It uses some utilities to perform the same. We use the same script to convert the xer outputs of all other 11.4 MRLs to PDF. But we face issue only in this new 12.2 MRL output. So we feel that the problem is with the Xer that is generated out of 12 versions.

Yes, it should work on Solaris. AIX and HP Unix have some special requirements (must use a Motif based environment context, e.g. a desktop environment, hosted in an X11 server referenced via the DISPLAY environment variable) but I don't think that is required on Solaris.

  • Oracle Documaker 12.3 Released

Oracle Documaker 12.3 is now available on the Oracle Support Site and the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud.
12.3 Documents are now available on OTN:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51711_01/e51711_01_index.html - Help Systems
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51709_01/e51709_01_index.html - Manuals including the Release Notes at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51709_01/Release_Notes_12.3.pdf
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E51710_01/e51710_01_index.html - Tutorials, Sample MRL and Scripts
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E52927_01/e52927_01_index.html - Documaker Desktop

When installing Documaker can we have our own VM in our own OU for the WAS application servers? This will make maintenance easier on our side.  There doesn’t seem to be anything in the documentation saying this is a good or a bad idea.
The typical installation scenario is to have 3 tiers - application (WAS), application (Documaker), and data. WAS tiers host web applications (Dashboard, Administrator, Interactive) as well as providing database connection pools and JMS queues for messaging - it is expected that the WAS environment is a clustered environment and that the applications are deployed to the cluster members, which can be physical or virtual. For the Documaker application server, these can be physical or virtual as well. It's recommended to install Documaker on single-purposes environments, however there's nothing to prevent you from doing otherwise. The Documaker applications are self-contained JVMs and can be tuned accordingly.
Our WAS Admins would like to know what the scripts in the Post-Setup documentation actually do.  Is it possible to use our existing scripting environment to build the necessary pieces instead of using scripts from the documaker install?  If it’s not possible, can we get a look at the documaker scripts before we run them?
The installation process (currently) writes the scripts according to responses provided during the installation process. The scripts can be reviewed/modified prior to execution.
We would like to know if WAS 8.5 is supported, or if version 7.0.0.27 in the requirements pdf is the only version supported?
The official supported version of WAS is 7.0.0.27, however WAS 8.5 may be suitable (I believe there might be a fix pack requirement there - would recommend you submit a question to Oracle Support for verification).

These have not been updated with the latest 12.0 changes, but user interface is very similar in most areas and they may prove useful to a new user.

  • Read rtf contents from xml file and print them in pdf using documaker

    I am using Documaker 11.2.
Input file is XML and for a particular tag, rtf contents is passed like
    {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang1033\deflangfe1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fswiss\fprq2\fcharset0 Arial Narrow;}} \viewkind4\uc1\pard\b\f0\fs20 My\b0 name is Schoo.....
I want to read this data excluding the RTF abstract and print the text alone in pdf along with format like paragraph,bold....
The output file generated is PDF.
Kindly let me know how can i achieve this in Documaker.

There is no direct support for importing RTF from an XML extract. Perhaps feature 1514 "Mapping formatted XML data into multiline field" will be of some use. This was released in 11.0, I believe.
Essentially you can establish paragraph and certain text formatting like bold and underline when you include the proper token information in the data. I believe this is similar to simple HTML tokens.
Example: <FIELD><P>First paragraph of data.</P><P>New paragraph with <B><U>bold and underline text</U></B>. Rest of paragraph normal.</P></FIELD>
The result is something like this:
<P>First paragraph of data.</P><P>New paragraph with <B><U>bold and underline text</U></B>. Rest of paragraph normal.</P>

    C.
When XE was first released, there was no SQL Developer. Now that there is, we encourage the use of that for the DB Admin functions that we had added to APEX just for XE. All the SQL is provided for you here (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.0.1_and_xe.html). In the future, we will work to expose these functions more nicely through SQL Developer but you can feel free to create an application with all the SQL - you will just need a privileged user to execute most of it.

  • Documaker 12.1 Standard Edition Performance Problem

We are having performance problems with our Documaker version 12.1 Standard Edition large batch runs.  We are seeing much longer run times (5+ hours for a large line of business with a 30,000 policy declaration file) than we are willing to accept.  Is or has anyone else had similar experiences?  Any suggestions for optimizing our Documaker batch performance?

You may have to be more specific and/or report your question to Support.
I do recall that there is a performance improvement in 12.1 related to using table rows declared in repeating sections. The more sections you repeated with the table-row, the slower it would become. I think this is patch 12.1.3. I don't know if that patch is released yet. As I said, you should check with the Support site. If you have already reported to Support, check the status of your BugDB entry as this might be your fix in the works.
If your situation is not related to using repeating table rows, then perhaps you could describe your setup and anything unusual about your situation.

  • Documaker 12.1.2 Avaiable

    Hi,
Documaker 12.1.2 is now available on the Oracle Support web site and updated documentation for the release can be found on the Oracle Technology Network. This patch to Documaker 12.1 addresses issues associated with both Documaker Standard and Enterprise Edition.
At https://support.oracle.com search for patches to 12.1 to find the release specific to your deployment.
The product Readmes contain lists of items addressed in this patch and are available on the Oracle Technology Network at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E22582_01/e22582_01_index.html.

  • Documaker 10.3 vs 11.3

    Hi everyone,
We are seriously considering to propose upgrade to our current Documaker 10.3 to 11.3. I am sure there will be a lot of improvements to the 11.3 version. I am not able to find much information about the key differences between both the versions. Can anyone please let me know or point me to a location where I can find this information.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Venkata,
My initial thought: why on earth would you want to upgrade your installation to 11.3? Documaker 11.5 is the current release and you should go with that release. It has many improvements over 11.3, especially in handling the headers and footers and a new notion of stubs, amongst other things.
Before you upgrade, you will need to decide if you want to use Documaker in Legacy mode, or switch to much, much better Studio mode.
As for the differences between 10.3 and 11.5 Studio mode, we could easily spend a week talking about the new and improved features and the new concepts implemented with Studio. It's a bit confusing to read about all these new file types, like the Business Definition, Group and Form files, but if you have enough experience with Documaker, you should understand these concepts in no time. And, as an added bonus, the Import wizzard does a very good job in converting an existing legacy MRL to a Studio library.
As a first step, download the 11.5 documentation and read the Documaker Studio User Guide. A second step would be to register for an Oracle class. I don't know if it is still offered, but there was on course on the migration from legacy mode to Studio. If not, an "Introduction to Studio" type of course would help you.
    Hope this helps,
    Gaétan

  • Problem getting DocuMaker Studio to Load

    I have DocuMaker Studio 11.5.
When I start Studio, it takes at least 15 minutes to load. And once Studio is loaded, it takes a couple of minutes everytime I click on something. Studio was running fine until a couple of days ago.
We tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it. Without success.
Anyone ever heard of this problem? And know how to fix it?
    Thanks for your help.

There shouldn't be anything with DMStudio that will cause this to happen, but a few more answers may help.
Does the problem occur when opening DMStudio, or when opening DMStudio with a workspace? Or is it once you have Studio opened and then open a workspace?
What are you using for your library - codebase, Oracle, DB2, SQL?
Do you have DMStudio installed on your workstation, or are you opening the EXE from a remote server?
Are you using any remote connection software, such as Citrix, to open a desktop in another location?
Is the library located in your physical location, or are you connecting to a server in a remote location?
If the library is in a database has any updates been applied to that?
Have you performed any updates to your workstation recently?
What patch release of 11.5 are you using?
Does this same problem happen from all workstations being used to open a workspace in DMStudio?
How long has this workspace been active?
Have you performed any major changes to the workspace recently?
Does the same problem occur if you create a new workspace and try to work in that?
How many library components are showing (including all versions and all revisions)?
The more background you can provide, the better chance we have of providing a solution.
    1. The steps you are taking to open the workspace.
    2. The environment you are using.
    3. What investigations you have performed, with results.
    4. What changes have been made to your environment
    Thanks
    Allan

  • GA date for DocuMaker 11.3

Can anyone tell me the ga date for Documaker11.3, or tell me where I can find it, please?
    Thanks!

I am assuming you are trying to determine when support ends for 11.3, Please see the following. This is the Oralce Lifetime Support brochure/policy. This is offical and is updated by Oracle when needed regarding previous releases. Releases under Oracle are found under My Oracle support. I believe that 11.3 was relased in 2008 and it was a grey area before Documaker/Skywire was fully Oracle.
    http://www.oracle.com/us/support/library/lifetime-support-applications-069216.pdf
All this notwithstanding, 11.3 is on Oracle's rolling support cycle where products generally are under full support for 5 years. The base assumption is that you will continue to upgrade therefore always be fully supported, if there is a specific reason that you require support on a product which is "out of cycle" you have options.

  • Using SQVI to generate report of open and released delivery schedule lines

    All,
I'm using SQVI  to generate an excel spreadsheet for some buyers to show open released schedule lines because they are a 1 line item per scheduling agreement company.
I used the logical database MEPOLDB instead of a table joint and pulled fields from EKKO(vendor, SA #,&purchasing group), EKPO(Material Number), EKEH(schedule line type), and EKET(delivery date, scheduled qty, previous qty).
Does this sound like I'll get the results I want on paper as long as I use the right selection criteria, because the report I'm getting isn't quite what I expect? I am unable to identify which lines are authorized to ship vs. trade-off zone, planning, etc. in the report thus far.

    Hi Mark,
I have faced same requirement. I am not sure about transporting to TST and PROD. I done by this way.
After generating SQVI program in DEV , I assigned that program  to a transaction and tested in DEV. Later i have regenarated SQVI in Production. then I assigned the generated Program to same transaction in DEV. And transported the Tcode assignment of program to Production..
About authorization , if its not sensitive report, BASIS can restrict at transaction level.
    Regards,
    Ravi.

I'm facing an error while releasing a request.
The request contains an ABAP programs along with two INCLUDDE programs as well as a TCode to run the same.
It is running successfully in dev. server. But, while releasing ths request it shows me the following error :
    " Object REPT ZBAPI_SD_SERV_SALES_ORDER is inactive " ,
where ZBAPI_SD_SERV_SALES_ORDER is the program name. When I checked out in ABAP editor it shows the program active.
But, I'm unable to understand why its showing me an inactivation error.
Guys, help me out in this.

    Hi,
Check if the INCLUDE program are also ACTIVE. They must be in inactive state. Try activating them and release the request.
