Document Library Template with Metadata Navigation and Key Filters

When saving a document library as a template, any configured metadata navigation and key filters columns are lost. Has anyone else experienced this issue or know a viable workaround? Can anyone shed some light on why these settings are not saved with
the template?

List metadata navigation and columns filters not working.

I'm having an issue with SP 2013 whereby if I apply a filter through metadata navigation subsequent columns filters don't get applied.
Here I've applied a filter through the navigation and it applies the filter successfully to the documents in the library
If I now apply a column filter by content type and select the value Promotion Calendar, I get the following
It appears the filter is selected and I can indeed see the filter applied via the dropdown but it doesn't apply the filter to the list view. I've confirmed this also on another environment using different columns for the metadata navigation.
The environments are patched to Dec 2013 CU.

The scenario is be default that Managed Metadata navigation tree in document libraries does not allow further filtering on other columns.
For a workaround, you can use Key Filters instead.

Document Library Template with Permissions

I need to create like more than 50 document libraries that contain the same folder structure and the same permissions its posible to create some kind of template that include permissions or some kind of automation?

According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to create more than 50 document libraries that contain the same folder structure and the same permissions.
First, you need to create a document library that contain the folder structure and the special permissions.
Then you need to make sure that you want to the libraries have same name or not.
If the libraries have different names, we need to store the names in a database first.
The solution is:
storing the names in a text file database(or other location such as sql server)
Receive the names from the database, and then create the libraries.

Metadata Navigation and Library Column Filter Bug

To whom it may concern,
When document library metadata navigation is enabled and a user clicks an item in the metadata navigation part, the library updates to reflect the selected filter. Subsequent filtering actions performed on columns in the library do not filter the list

My reason for re-posting this is 2 fold.
1. The answer to the thread above is not an answer, it is a work around.
2. Presenting the option for a user to continue filtering a view, but having that option do nothing is a bug. The option should be hidden, or it should perform the expect action.
Please either inform me of an expected timeframe for resolution, or point me to an exacting set of steps to take in order to escalate this issue to someone who will take action to fix it.

According to your description, my understanding is that column filtering cannot work after filtering on the managed navigation in SharePoint.
I tested the same scenario per your post in my environment, and I got the same results as you got.

How to recover a deleted document library webpart with files in it?

Hi,
I accidentally deleted a document library webpart with folders and files in it. Can someone help how to recover it? What do you think happens to the files? I checked the recycle bin, there is no any deleted file related to the missing files. When I checked
the Site Content and Structure, I can find the folders yet cant see the files in it. It gives a message that says "Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
Please guide.

Follow these steps:
1) open page: https://your_pormal/Lists/YOUR_LIST_NAME/AllItems.aspx
2) open page in edit mode -> add webpart -> find your list in available webparts -> add
3) click on the ribbon Stop Editing (Page tab)
4) Now you try open library from Site Content.
But your webpart will looks not like a when a library was created:
Now follow these steps:
1) Open library settings
2) click Create View
3) Select Standard View (don't select All Items from view templates)
4) Name it (for example MyAllItems)
4) Check: Make this the default view
5) Check: Title (linked to item with edit menu)
6) Click Save button
7) Now you have new View (with new address)
8) Open page https://your_pormal/Lists/YOUR_LIST_NAME/AllItems.aspx
9) Open it in edit mode
10) Open list webpart in edit mode
11) Set Selected View to MyAllItems
12) Toolbar Type to Full Toolbar
13) Click OK (after this step it may still showed in "wrong" style)
14) Click on the Page tap - Stop Editing
15) Check result ;)

Create Dynamic Document Library Templates

I have the following scenario within our IT Org
1. PMO office maintains a "Standards" library, to which they publish all standard templates that need to be used for Project Management.
2. Each Project Manager would like to create a document library within their "project site" based on all the documents within "Standards" library.
My question is, would it be possible to create a document library template whose contents are dynamically pulled from another library?

Based on your description, my understanding is that each Project Manager
creates document library with the same template, but what they need is that their document libraries have different content type with others.
There isn’t an out of the box method to create document library templates dynamically.
For your issue, I suggest each Project Manager create one document content type with the document template which they need, and add the content type into their document libraries.

How to Install Metadata Navigator and LIght Weight Designer

Hi ,
What is the purpose MetadatNavigator and LWD . ?
Is it mandatory for ODI during Data transfer from source to target.. ?
I have JDK 1.5 installed ......
Any additional hardware specification or requirement needed to Metadata navigator and LWD required.........?
( I saw in the setup document that we require ............J2EE 1.4 compliant application server, such as OC4J 10.1.3 and above. )
Can anyone guide me on this ...........
Data transfer will be a one time activity for my requirement.........

The Metadata Navigator and Lightweight designer are not required to move data.
Installation is as described in the Installation documentation, very simple.
The purpose of the two:
Metadata Navigator provides a web-browser based interface to the contents of the repository and execution logs, making it easy to see all the artifacts defined in your repository, see the data flow and data lineage in a graphical form, to see the execution logs, and to be able to start, and re-start the execution of scenarios, from that web-browser.
The lightweight designer gives a web-browser interface to be able to modify mappings defined in your interfaces.

Reader doesn’t create pdf files. You can use Acrobat (ask in that forum) to create pdfs. You can subscribe to the Adobe PDF Pack which has a create pdf functionality (please ask in that forum), or you can use a third party utility such as ghostscript, cutepdf, or Microsoft’s own PDF creation capability. For third party pdf creation you will need to ask in a forum dedicated to that software as fellow users of Reader are unlikely to have the knowledge to help.

how can i create a document library with a managed metadata column and lookup column .
what should be the type for managed metadata column ? is it "Taxonomy", if yes how can i enter the term set values which should be populated by default.
also would like to know how to refer the parent list / column[field] in the loopkup field

In SharePoint 2010 Document Library "Open with Explorer" Your client does not support opening this list with Windows Explorer

Hi.
I am getting below error "Your client does not support opening this list with Windows Explorer" while click "Open with Explorer" option in document library.
My system is client machine which is 32 Bit system and
Web Client service is also running and Window 7 PC.
Other SharePoint sites "Open with Explorer" option in document library is working fine but specific site is giving error.
Even it was working fine but not is giving this error.
Please help me on it. Its making frustrations.

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you got “Your client does not support opening this list with Windows Explorer” error.
Did you enable the both authentication (Windows and FBA) on default zone.
As far as I remember when FBA is enabled on the same zone when Windows is used, it breaks whole client integration.
So it will be better if you will recheck your architecture and will use different zones for Windows and FBA.
There is also another thing to try: use claims based authentication with authentication provider which will work both with Windows and FBA.
What’s more, you can also check with below steps.
Use compatibility mode to check whether it works.
Open IE->Tools->Compatibility View Settings
Add the site into Trusted sites to check whether it works..
Open the IE->Internet Options->Security->Sites->add the site into the Websites, then check whether it works.
In addition, you can also try to enable Basic authentication on the client computer, by setting the BasicAuthLevel registry entry of the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters

Activating Metadata Navigation and Filtering feature results in no access to Site

We have found that when this feature is activated all access to the site is lost and users get "Sorry, this site has not been shared with you"
ULS with taxonomy set to verbose:
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800700...
DelegateControl: Exception thrown while adding control 'ASP._controltemplates_15_metadatanavtree_ascx': System.Threading.ThreadAbortException:
Thread was being aborted.
Deactivate the feature and access is restored. Note we have just deployed the Dec 14 CU but this does not happen on our Staging site which also has the Dec 14 CU
Any ideas? Obviously users want to enable this feature!

For your issue, maybe the permissions for the Portal Super User and Portal Super Reader were not correctly positioned on the web application policy:
You need to add Portal Super Reader account with Full Read permissions on the web application policy and you could access site pages even when Metadata Navigation Filtering was activated.
You need to addPortal Super User account with Full Control permissions on the web application policy and you could create the new site collection, access site pages even when Metadata Navigation Filtering was activated.

SharePoint 2013 Document Library template displays html code when creating a new document from a sharepoint list multiline rich text

I have a 2010 work flow that is associated with a sharepoint 2013 list that creates a new list document using a custom Microsoft Word 2013 template with a rich text multiline field quick part. The workflow creates the document and populates
the the quickpart, however, the text in the document is showing html codes
<div class="ExternalClass2116495984EB429D95B02CC15F85FD4C"><h1>ABC123</h1><h2>Test: 1234</h2></div>
and not as
ABC123
Test: 1234
Is there a no code solution for this?

Problem uploading templates with liquid layouts and dreamweaver cs6

Hi
I have developed some templates in Dreamweaver CS6 and Liquid Layouts
However when I want to preview them in a browser, they come out blank (No Data at all)
I have tried this without Liquid and works fine, minor bugs that can be fixed like background image not visible
It seems the problem its at the BC system
Will appreciate help on this matter

You should not be using Liquid in product sites, especially in templates since the whole liquid code breaks and does not render in several places.
DW has no features to support liquid rendering either yet.
It is something that is in Alpha.

Metadata navigator and agent

I have a question on Metadata Navigator.We are trying to install Metadata Navigator in a 64 bit server. But our agent is running in a 32 bit server.. So when we run a scenario using Metadata Navigator can we select which agent it has to use. We dont have M.N yet. So it could a basic question.

Itunes Library sharing with multiple ipods and 2 pc's

Hi, I have a new Ipod nano and want to use my wifes itunes library with my ipod. Which according to the tech stuff I can share the content by enabling on wifes pc. Done that, which I can now see library on my Acer laptop. However, I can't sync my playlist from her pc to my itunes. I want to download my own podcasts etc.. not clutter her itunes pc. When I transfer the ipod back to my pc it then wants to delete and re-sync.
We have 3 ipods in the house and 2 pc's.
Whats the best way of using the ipods and getting the most out of itunes?

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:

Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
