Some clarification, the FuseTalk forums run on the ColdFusion platform, but are not an Adobe product. It is like Photoshop. It runs on a Macintosh, but it isn't an Apple product. It runs on Windows, but isn't a Microsoft product.
Most folks here know that I'm pretty neutral about comparing the two forums. But I recently had to run some reports on them and activity is about the same on both, with the Macromedia Forums being a little more busy than the Adobe ones. Most people are comfortable with the system they know. At the time of the Adobe/Macromedia merger there were a number of performance issues with the Macromedia Forums. Most of them have been addressed.
There was only one attempt to move from WebCrossing to FuseTalk, and that never saw the light of day. It was back in August 2006 and the project got killed before anything happened. I don't know where the comment about ColdFusion product managers wanting to use that platform for all forums comes from, I've never heard that internally.
In October 2007 we imported all of the data from the Macromedia forums into Web Crossing and did release it for two weeks and that didn't work out well (a big understatement). It was so bad that most people who went through it have suffered some sort of amnesia. They seem to recall that we were moving the other direction (WebX to Fusetalk). But that is not the case. All forums were running on Web Crossing during that experience.

How to create database in 10g xe? could you please direct me to which documentation in 10g xe website? is it possible to create the db from the web console? if so, how? I can't seem to find a way to do it? Thanks

You cannot: there can only be one XE database per host and it's created when you install Oracle XE.

Materialized View UNION different tables 10g.

I am trying to create a materialized view from 2 different tables. According the documentation for 10G it should be available.
Here is my script.

I get the following error.

I wrapped them in CAST operations just to be sure they are the same type and size.

Discoverer 10g and Java 7- Anyone Document Incompatibilities

Hi All,
To provide a clearer picture to my IT steering committee, I am documenting Discoverer 10g / Java 7 incompatibilities. As a company we are on Java 6 because of our Oracle Apps 12.1.3 implementation (we are not ready yet to make the jump to Java 7 on the apps side).
Anyways, I have done some documentation of issues associated with Java 7 and Discoverer 10g, but I wanted to know if others have done some documentation.
Here is my short list:
-Can not enter text in the "name contains:" field associated with the "Open Workbook from Database" dialog box.
-Can not edit column headings while editing workbooks.
Any other issues people have noticed would be helpful. I need to build a case for migrating to Discoverer 11g (which is compatible with Java 7).

Thanks for sharing your situation.
Of course, trying to use Java 6 on the Discoverer Application Server side and Java 7 on the client side with Plus does not seem/sound like the smartest thing for us to being doing. Certainly, this is not certified.
Our intentions are to eventually migrate to OBIEE with OBIA, but a migration will be a large project and take some time. There is hope that nothing needs to be done and everything will be okay in the interim.

10g form compilation error

I created a form in Oracle form builder 10g..
I uploaded the fmb to server. Say file name is XX_TEST.fmb
These are the steps i followed for compilation.

You should post your query on Oracle E Business Suite forums, not here.
You are trying to compile Forms 10g with f60gen, and using all the settings of Forms 6. That is obviously wrong.
You need to use the correct commands for 10g, frmcmp from the bin folder of DevSuite10g home. Trying random combinations will not get you anywhere. Read the documentation for 10g.
Better post on EBS forum. There may be other issues like no support for 10g in EBS 11.5.xx.xx that you are using.

SNMP monitoring of Oracle 10g?

Hi there,
I'm curious about using SNMP technology to monitor Oracle 10g databases.
I've done some light reading on the subject and I'm now at the stage
where I have a few questions.
-What exactly do I need to configure in my Oracle 10g environment?
-Is Enterprise Manager the best and/or only UI available for me
to carry out configuration chores?
-I see no SNMP specific documentation for 10g; why is that?
-I do see a good document for 9i:

I'm able to set up traps via the EM website following these instructions:

However, what I'm really looking for is the ability to do snmp gets. I need functionality similar to how the old school DBSNMP under OMS used to work. These commands seem to be totally missing. I found the following documentation:

Which indicates there should be an snmp subfolder under $ORACLE_HOME/sysman, but that folder does not exist in my installation. I installed Oracle EE. Is there another package I need to install in order to make the subagent run like a normal snmp agent?
So far if I do a:
emctl start dbconsole
that starts up the EM Website and I can use that no probelm. If I...
emctl start agent -- I get:
Starting agent ... started.
issuing a 'emctl staus agent' gives me a normal status message. Things start to get strange when I try to start the subagent, which to my understanding is what I need running in order to to talk to net-snmp, which is the master agent running on this host. Here's what happens:

I downloaded the zip file (B16240_01.zip, 150mb) in the mentioned link. But it's not 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4) Patch Set 3 for Microsoft Windows (32-Bit). It's Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control Online Documentation Library 10g Release 5. You should try again.

Deploying an Oracle Form on 10G AS.

Can I deploy or test an Oracle Form on the 10G Application server which i have installed ? (10g AS 10.1.2)

Also Mona, this is clearly described in the Application Server documentations!!! If you don't have the documentation cd you can find them under "PRODUCT CENTERS" (top left on this page). Click on Documentations and Application Server. Select 10g (9.0.4) and there B10464_05 'View Library' ("Oracle Application Server 10g Online Documentation Library 10g (9.0.4)").
The document you're looking for is "Deployment Guide" which is found under "Oracle Application Server Forms Services" under the J2EE tab (second right).

RowKeySetImpl doesn't appear to exist in the 10g version I have, though there is a RowKeySet What I seems to be having trouble understanding is what format the path needs to be in and how I give it to the tree to force the expansion.
After some reading on the topic I tried something like this:
PathSet pathSet = new PathSet();
pathSet.setTreeModel(getTreeModel());
pathSet.getKeySet().addAll(ArrayList of Paths) // [0,0,2,3] for instance
But regardless of what I use in the ArrayList (the tutorial I found used Strings, but I also tried Integers), I always ALWAYS get errors.
I'm hoping there is an easier way to achieve this, it's frustrating the lack of documentation on 10g yet my hands are tied and I'm forced to continue down this path.

Offline Search with Oracle Documentation Library?

..I have download Oracle Database Documentation Library 10g for reading at home..
It's all fine! But i can not use the Search function offline.
(see Quick Search or Tab Search. Enter a word or phrase. Button Search)
It must offline, because i have not inernet connection at home for online..
Question: Is it posible or somehow can I config for Search, but offline!
