Can I trust this system?

Loaded question. You're not the first one to have issues iwth the Cloud. Personally??? After it ate all my contacts I have chosen to keep my backup data 'close to home' and just back it up on my computer. Others have had no issues at all.
PERSONALLY?
I don't trust anyone else to back stuff up for me. I don't let my personal info and data be stored solely on someone else's service where it's only as secure as their employees want to make it. A very extreme example, but on 911, when the world trade centers came down there were servers residing in those buildings and they were destroyed, along with the data on them. And there was nothing the data owners could do about it.
If you want to keep stuff out there, it's each person's choice. But I personally would never allow a third party to be my sole source of backup. Putting blind trust in any third party can be seen as perhaps not the wisest thing ever.
Given issues that multiple peope have had, I'd suggest to anyone using the Cloud to keep their own local backup, just in case and a backup to the backup.

Image in header disappears when document is opened with iPad Pages

I'm trying to create company templates for standard files that can be both accessed from my Mac and iPad via iCloud. Howerver, I can't get the iPad version to include the image that was added within the Mac version and saved to iCloud.
Here is what's happening:
1. Make new document with Mac version of Pages
2. Insert an image in the headder (company logo in PDF format but I've also tried EPS & PNG as well)
3. Save documnet to iCloud
4. Open document from iCloud with iPad version of Pages
5. Image disappears (to clarify, the image is shown in the thumbnail view on the iPad but disappears once opened)
If I don't make any changes to the document on the iPad and reoppen it on the Mac the image is still there. However, if I make any changes to the document with the iPad and then open the modified file on the Mac the image remains missing.

I have never heard that inserting an image into a header is a bad thing; can you please explain why you say it's never a good thing to do?
As far as I know, this is a very common method and is the only way that I'm aware of to create a header with a company logo that will repeat on subsequent pages within the document. By making the image a background image, you lose this ability and the image will only show on the first page of the document.
To answer your suggestion, yes, making the image a background image will make it visible on the iPad however this is not the issue, as images within the body of the document do not have the disappearing issue that I'm experiencing with images in the header.
If inserting images in the header is bad thing, do you have another method that you could share that would achieve the same result; that is an image (logo) that will automatically repeat on every subsequent page that is added to a document?

Word Document only partially imports into iPad Pages

When I import pages from word documents my dropbox into iPad Pages only the first page imports. The rest is blank. This does not happen with QuickOffice, but I prefer to use Pages as QuickOffice is prone to crashes! Can anyone help me with this?

Symptom :
When embedding a pdf document into a Crystal Report, only the one page shows.
Reproducing the Issue
Environment:
Crystal Reports OLE object
Cause
An OLE object only displays the first page.
Resolution
Embed multiple objects, one for each page
Or
Use a hyperlink to the object instead

After you have finished editing your document, tap the Documents button (top-left), this will save your document and it will begin uploading to the cloud automatically (provided iCloud is setup properly).

HT4942 pages document won't open on ipad or icloud

I have created a document in pages on my ipad.
All of a sudden after switching to another document and then trying to switch back, on my ipad which wasn't connected to the internet at the time, I could no longer open my document in Pages.
I message popped up saying document won't open. I tried making a copy of it and the copy had the same error message when I tried to open it. I tried emailling and exporting it in the ipad Pages app but it froze up when trying to do it and didn't work.
I logged onto icloud and I see the document there but it won't open. I get a message that says "Document Can't be downloaded, please try again"
Is there any way to recover this document? It is so frustrating because I can see what I wrote is still there in the thumbnail - but I just can't get the actual document.

Can I upload a Numbers '09 document, which I have created on my iPad earlier, to iCloud? When I open icloud.com on my Mac, I know that I can drag a file and see it on my iPad with iCloud. Can I do it the other way around? From iPad to Mac? I created a really important document on iPad which I will edit constantly that's why I need iCloud. Pleas help!!!

If you have Documents & Data turned on, all your Pages documents are uploaded automatically to iCloud.
To make sure that the document is uploaded, go to Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data, and activate it. Then, open Pages and all documents will be uploaded to iCloud. Also, you will see your existing documents on iCloud

Cannot open, share or download Pages document from iPad or iCloud

My girlfriend's sister is having some trouble where one specific pages document will not open and we cannot do anything with it (i.e. open, save as PDF, email as word file etc).
In iCloud you get the error "You need a newer version of pages to open this document".
On the iPad, error is "Document can't be opened".
She has pages version 1.7.2 on the iPad which is the latest version in the Apple Store.
I managed to get a pages file (or package) onto my PC to have a look at it and it is in the form of a folder called "name.pages-tef" and inside are the following:
If I open Index.db with notepad I can see her notes but they're surrounded by copious amounts of nonsensical code. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

The following link gets into the real details of the different file formats for Pages documents (there are three versions). The "-tef" file format is specifically for iOS and is translated to a mac format when using the file on a mac. One question is how was the file created? On a mac or on the ipad?

IPad Pages no option to select documents on iCloud

Just purchased Pages because Apple boasted about the capability to share documents over the iCloud. Opened Pages only to find out it doesn't know what iCloud is. Options are iTunes, iDisk, WEBDAV, and where is iCloud ?

Sharing is automatic from an iOS device if you have Documents and Data turned on in iCloud settings.
If you are talking about Pages for OS X, sharing is not yet automatic.

How to get pages from desktop to iPad using icloud

Can someone help me please?! I am not that great with all of this but have Pages on desktop (version 10.7.4) and have an iPad2, i am trying to get the documents from desktop onto iPad with no luck. I have brought the app for the iPad and have icloud which is working and as far as I am aware everthing is where it needs to be, but how do the documents get onto the iPad??!! Do I have do something, if so what or should it just all appear? Also can you edit a document on the iPad or make a new document, save it and then it will appear on the desktop?

Aside from using the suggestions (both) above also make sure that you go to Settings>iCloud>Documents and data>on.
If the documents do not appear on the iPad after you have checked the settings, try creating a dummy document on the iPad. It can be anything at all. Quit Pages completely and then launch the app again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Launch Pages again.
If you were running Mountain Lion you would not need to drag the files into the browser - if you had iCloud all configured correctly on the Mac.
Once iCloud is set up and working as it should, you can simply launch Pages on the iPad, the edited files will appear and you can open and work on them there as needed. when you finish working on the document, the edited file will upload to iCloud again and be accessible in the browser like laxman described.

Can't open pages files on ipad in icloud.

I always synchronize my Pages files between my Mac Mini, Mac Book Pro and Ipad(1st generation) in icloud. Since last week it is not possible to open some files on my ipad in icloud. All files that have been opened on my Mac Mini can not be opened on the ipad. What can I do?

So...I have played with it more. Simple documents work most of the time. But if I take a more complex doc to Pages, edit it and save it as a Word doc then trasnfer it back to PC or Mac it will fail to open.
Would be nice if I could trust the App. WIll mess more with it but it is very frustrating.

So, am I understanding you correctly, that I need to remove the Pages app and then reinstall it? How does that restore the documents? They are still showing up in iCloud on my iMac. I want to know how to get them back onto my iPad. Is there anyone who can tell me in a step by step fashion how to do this? And thank you David743 for your attempts.

Importing documents from ipad using icloud

I am trying to find out how to import Pages documents I have created on my ipad into Pages on my desktop imac. Both the ipad and imac are signed into the same icloud account and have documents and data checked in the settings. I currently have about 9 Pages documents stored on the ipad, but I can't get them to open or import them into Pages on the imac. What do I need to do? When I go into Pages on the imac and choose open, it doesn't give me an option to open things in icloud; I thought it should.
Any help would be appreciated

As Tom said, you need Mountain Lion, 10.8, but you also need Pages 4.2. In the meantime, you can upload & download iWork & other documents using the iWork section of iCloud.com in a web browser. This method also works in Snow Leopard or on a PC.
