Documents Portlet View

We're trying to find (or create) a portlet to replace the My Documents and Community Documents portlets.  Out-of-the-box, the portlets display files in a linear fashion, so you can't tell which documents reside in which folder.  IMO, this isn't very functional.
You can go to "Manage Documents" and that DOES display folders/subfolders, but not from the portlet view. We would like the portlet to display a file-hierarchy, with the ability to "drill-down" into the files, to see the documents that exist in the folder.  Has anybody created anything like this?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Herbie,
A few tools directions to point you in. Take a look at the PTOpener gateway tag which is documented in the Enterprise Web Development Guide. That allows you to open a tree control selector for many Plumtree objects, including folder/documents from the knowledge directory.
You'd also be happy to know in the EDK v5.0.2 release, which will be available in February with the portal v5.0.2, the EDK's PRC API provides tools to queries, search, and manipulate the knowledge directory.
A snippet from the new release notes:
[url[urlNew featuresThe following features have been added to the PRC API: ACL (Access Control List) manipulation for Portal Objects.
Portal Knowledge Directory Document management:
Document queries with filters.
Property manipulation.
Adding/removing Documents from Folders.
Portal Job management.
Community Setting manipulation
PRC Properties for ProfileSource, SavedSearch, Portal Property, and DocumentFolder
The new PRC Search API has been added for access to the Portal search engine. Search Portal Users, Documents, Folders, and Communities

Hello everyone,
I have a document library view with many folders. Each folder is a procedure and have document attached to it.

I would like to have a document view with the following information
File Name   version
======  ======
File 01         0
File 02         0
File 03         0
File 01         1

This is quite simple, you have to modify the current view (Modify this view) of document library and then you can select version column from available column list (make sure version is enabled). please check below picture for detail.

• Incorrect font display in pdf document(web view)

Adobe helpers,
I am encountering a  very peculiar problem with incorrect display of fonts in pdf documents when viewed in a web browser. Briefly, the problem typically affects  the first page of a pdf document, the font being displayed as an unidentified mix of large and very small, skinny type.  Other pages may or may not be affected, and if one back-clicks to the previous page the text often displays the correct font, so the problem is in some (but not all) cases non-persistent.  The problem however is resolved completely if I uncheck the 'display pdf in browser' option  under edit>preferences in adobe reader. Fonts I use include Arial, Cambria, Franklin Gothic Book, and Garamond; as straight-up pdfs, the documents look fine. FYI, I have Adobe reader X 10.0.1 (Win 7) and 9.0 (Win XP sp3) installed on two different machines. Firefox 3.6 and IE9 are equally at fault. FWIW, all the pdf documents begin life as MS Word or Publisher 2010 documents, which are converted to pdf within these applications before publishing to web.   Since I can't control how people choose to view web pdfs, I'm concerned that display of the prone documents is impaired when viewed in a web browser.
Not sure if this is a reader, browser, or distiller problem but this seems a logical place to start looking for answers. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I've also had problems printing with Reader X.
When printing an attachment from an email in Outlook, if I don't open the attachment first, sometimes it doesn't print correctly as everything shows with the following number or letter. Example 12345 will print as "23456" and invoice will show as "jowpjdf". Even if I open the attachment, sometimes it will print the first page ok, but the next pages will "mppl mjlf uijt".
Never had this problem with previous versions.

• Show custom EditForm from a specific document library view

Hello,
I've created a custom EditForm that I would like to show when the user clicks the "<label for="ShouldDisplayEdit">Edit" (link to edit item)</label> icon; however I just want to show this EditForm for a specific view.
I have a listview webpart (actually an "app") for the library and this specific view set on a page. However, it opens the default edit form instead of the custom one. (StatusEdit.aspx). I don't want to set StatusEdit.aspx as the default, as it
has fewer fields than the default edit form.
I am able to hide fields conditionally using SPClientTemplates.TemplateManager.RegisterTemplateOverrides, but it's been a lot of work to try to make it match the requirements I have. I'd really like to have the custom edit form work if it's possible.
Thank you for your help!
Best Regards,
Kevin Worthington

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to specify the custom EditForm for a specific document library view.
We can change the link to edit item button url using Jquery to achieve it.
Here is a code snippet for your reference:
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function changeurl()
$(' ms-itmHoverEnabled ms-itmhover ms-droppable).find('ms-vb-lastCell ms-cellstyle ms-vb-icon ms-vb-lastCell').attr(‘href’,”http://new url”);
</script>

• Adobe connect could not process this document for viewing

I am using Connect 9 and trying to add a PDF to a share pod. These PDF's are sized at 11x17 and were converted from dwg  files. They are 2-4 megs in size. When I add them to a share pod I get the following error:
"adobe connect could not process this document for viewing. Please try uploading the file again."
Things I have already tried:

Adding the pdf to my content library and then adding it to the share pod
Reducing the page size
Adding other PDF's to the meeting or pods work fine including larger sized files. My meeting is in 2 days and I can go with a screen share if I have too, but am working witha coulpe of novice presenters and want to make the process as easy for them as posible.

• Set the horizontal scroll bar for the OOTb document library view

hi all,
     Am facing an issue in my sp portal.We have designed and developed the portal with OOTB document library views for site columns also. Going to enable the doc lib view. but  we have some  35 columns in eeacha nd every document
library within our sub site. But if an end user wants to see the last column then he needs to scroll. but, since  then my master page has fixed width, the top corner will be seen as blank. would like to know how can we set horizontal scrolling
in this doc lib view .
Das

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set the horizontal scroll bar for the document library when the last column postion exceed the fixed width.
I suggest you can try to use Jquery to set the width attribute of the menu bar dynamically if the document library width exceeded. You can add the Jquery or CSS style using SharePoint Designer under the PlaceHolderMain tag of document
library page. Also, you need to find the div id in your environment using Internet Explorer.

• How to add folder name to document library view

Using Project Server 2010.
We have a set of standard folders on each of our project sites for Requirements, Development, Testing, etc.  Currently, we display this library like you would see in File Explorer - you see a list of folders at the top, double-click on a folder
to drill down, etc.
I want to display these same documents as a straight list of all documents - not grouped into folders - but with the folder name displayed next to it (sort of like an attribute).  I can create the list view easily by selecting the "Show all items
without folders" option in the view settings; however, the containing folder name is not available as a column name.
Is this possible?

I do not think there is an out of the box way to do this.
The immediate solution that comes to mind is using a workflow, that runs everytime  a document is uploaded/item created, which may be too much for your scenario.

• Is it possible to ignore the cover page of a document when viewing two pages at a time.

when viewing a document with two pages up at a time, I want to ignore the very first page/cover page in the document so that all subsequent pages line up correctly. I can't find how to do this, is it possible. I cannot extract or delete the first page b/c the document is protected. I don't want to modify the document in any way. This document is a catalog that has information spread across two pages. So, when the cover page is included in the two page scroll viewing option, all the corresponding pages are offset by one page. I want the cover page to be at the top, by itself and the rest of the pages to show side by side.

Show - Page Display - tick Show Cover Page in Two Page View.
