Does anyone know what has happened to Retrospect?
I have been trying to contact Retrospect. Since they seem to have parted from Roxio, I cannot find them. Anyone know what is going on?
That's one weird site or I don't know Internet protocols that well. Take your pick.
Today I get a different ip address.

When I enter the ip address into a web browser, I get an error message.
Yet when I enter http://www.retrospect.com/products/mac
I get the site. Maybe I should include the www
I guess I do not know how to enter this on the command. ( Seems to work for google. )
This works.
Google seems to have their act together though.

Does anyone know what has happened to Softmatic Barcode Maker on the App store?
I bought this App a few months ago, and it worked fine. Then updated it a few weeks ago and worked even better. However I tried to load it today and it just crashes on startup. Have tried restating my MBP and it still doesn't work. I can't re-install because it is nolonger available on the App store, and furthermore, the publisher seems to have dissappeared completely! The web address softmatic.com doesn't go anywhere, and googling doesn't turn up any useful info.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do to fix the software?
Or what has happened to Softmatic?
Or if I will have any kind of comebak with the App Store regarding this App?
Any help would be greatly appreciated – I'm stumped!

AndyI've rather wondered myself. I hadn't used the bar code software, but did download and try the free Gradient Pro. It worked very nicely. I had a question and one problem, support was iin contact within an hour with both the answer and a fix for the problem. The next day they posted an updated version with the fix as part of the update. I was very impressed. The next day, they were *poof*.
I still use the app, have the manual page downloaded from before, but they have vanished online. Too bad. They had some great plans in store for new features. -

This is a pretty simple issue to fix.
For Windows 7 or Vista: Start> Search for 'Services'> Select the Services that shows as a Program> Click on Apple Mobile Device> And then press Start.
Windows XP> Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Services (You may see this on the first Control Panel page depending on which view it's in)> Apple Mobile Device> Start the service.\

I have recently purchased some apps from the app store and after downloading them, the icon that appears in the dock changes to a different icon. It is now the same icon appearing on all newly downloaded apps. Does anyone know what is happening here? Even updating an older game app resulted in the original game icon changing to the new identical icon that all new apps are appearing with. This new icon is like a page with a ruler, pencil and paintbrush. Any tips on how to stop this or how to revert to the icon as it appears on the app store would be appreciated.

For some reason the Apple ID window in iTunes and App Store now seems to suddenly have a character number constraint which prevents me using my 29 character Apple ID. As a result I am unable to enter the final few characters of my Apple ID which I have had for many years. Does anyone know what has caused this?
You need to ask Apple for assistance with getting back into your old ID. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to resolve this issue through the Account Security team, fill out and submit this form.

Does anyone know what will happen to my boot camp partition once I upgrade to lion?
I have MacBook Pro (4,1) running leopard 10.6.8 and am hesitant about the upgrade to lion because I have a FAT boot camp partition with window xp in it and a number of apps that I wouldn't like to lose in the process. Does anybody know how the upgrade handles the boot camp partition?
While this is the way it is supposed to work, because the Lion upgrade does try to create a new Recovery HD partition on the system disk, there is a chance that the BootCamp partition can be corrupted. Unfortunately Apple does not provide a tool or instructions on how to backup the BootCamp partition. I have had good results with WinClone even though the program seems to be no longer supported. I have just restored my XP BootCamp partition after my live partition was apparently corrupted by my Lion install. My recommendation to anyone running a BootCamp partition would be to back it up prior to any upgrade attempt.

Note that I have also tried creating several different Apple IDs in the hope this would solve the problem, however it has failed to do so.
That means there is a common email address( or maybe a phone number if one ID is associated with an iPhone with iOS 6). On each device go to Setting>Messages>Send and receive and make sure that the same email address or phone number is not listed on both devices.

Anyone know what has happened to the Places Themes in Aperture?
I don't have the Place Themes option when making a slide show in Aperture. I can still build one in iPhoto and view it in Aperture until I close Aperture when the Theme disappears.
No clue what's going on?What is your Aperture version? I have Aperture 3.3.2 and the "Places" theme is still available in Slide shows.

Hi all,
For some time now, my appstore app shows an update available for CodeBox, which I did not buy. When I try to update it it asks for my ID and password (all normal), but then it gives an Unknown Error.
I am 100% sure I didn't buy the app, I do not see any transaction on my card or in the appstore apart of this one, so does not seem to be a hack.
Does anyone know what is happening, this is a tricky thing which is making me lose trust in the payment/account system that Apple is using.

Does Anyone Know What Is Making This Happen?
This happens so often, but so quickly, I am always surprised and can remember what just caused it....that is, what actions I just took that made it happen. But tonight, I started thinking maybe it's some kind of "feature" that one can defeat.
Sometimes, when working in the MIXER window, I will be doing something with an AUX, maybe adding an effect, I don't know...but all of a sudden, it JUMPS over to the right of the screen. If you look at the top of the arrange window (if you can see it behind your mix window), it is as if the fader you are working with has become the FOCUS. Tonight I do remember choosing the OUTPUT fader and with a right click chose to "Create Arrange Track" so I could draw in some animation, and it jumped to the top of the ARRANGE page.
I know this is vague, but basically, I don't want channels changing position once I have them somewhere. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, and is it a feature that can be defeated?

It's a "feature". As soon as you put an Aux track into an automation mode, it places it on the arrange page for you automatically. And not only that, it places it at the top of the arrange page, and is therefore, ahead, or in front of the regular audio/instrument tracks, and because of that, gets moved to the first channel strip(s) of your mixer window (since the mixer and arrange update with each other).
Personally, I love the fact that the Aux track gets placed at the top of the arrange page, because that is where I always placed them myself, prior to version 8. But I do find it disconcerting that it moves within the mixer window. I personally would prefer it stay in place, like it would on a hardware console. -
I purchased and Iphone 5 directly from apple, sim free over 12 months ago now. I have been using the phone on Vodafone with no issues. I have now upgraded to the Iphone 6 and therefore sold on the Iphone to a friend of mine. He lives in Ireland and therefore has a Vodafone Ireland simcard. Given that the phone was brought sim free from Apple directly, we didn't foresee that this would be an issue. However, when he goes to activate the phone, this message appears;
The SIM card inserted in the iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.
Does anyone know what I need to do? I have got onto Vodafone, and they have been useless!! Apple say the phone is out of the 12 month warranty and therefore want to charge £25 before they will even speak to me about it. I requested an NUC from Vodafone, however, they are saying they need a proof of purchase from Apple as I did not buy the phone from them. I do not have my receipt anymore as the purchase was over 12 months ago now.

PhillNow you have discovered that a sim free phone and an unlocked phone are NOT the same thing. Had you purchased an unlocked phone from Apple, then you would not have had problems and as it is, a sim free phone is not the same and sim free will lock to the first sim card that you insert into the phone, so effectively, you phone has been locked to Vodafone and this is why you now have problems.
If your phone is locked to Vodafone, then they are the only ones who can unlock the phone for you - Apple does not and cannot unlock phone - this is the province of the carriers only.
You had the contract with Vodafone when you used the phone and so you need to keep on at them to unlock the phone for you. If they still require proof of purchase and you cannot give them this and they will not unlock the phone for you, then this phone is useless to the friend that you sold it to - he will never be able to use it and basically, you are looking at giving him a refund for the phone for the amount that he paid you for it.
You need to keep on at Vodafone to unlock the phone for you or give your friend a refund for the phone as it will be useless to him and he will never be able to use the phone.
Hope that you now understand that a SIM Free phone and an Unlocked phone are NOT the same and I hope that when you purchased your iPhone 6, that you bought an unlocked phone? -
