Does Captivate 7/8 support *Dynamic* Streaming Video for synchronized Multi-Slide videos?

I'm experimenting with inserting Streaming Video into Captivate Lessons.  I've set up an Adobe Media Server (AMS) to stream the video.
When inserting Multi-Slide Synchronized video, it's not clear whether/how I can insert a Dynamic Streaming Video link in a synchronized Multi-Slide Video.
(The Dynamic videos can switch between videos of varying quality based on the user's available bandwidth.)
I think you're supposed use a URL that points to a manifest file (.F4M), which catalogs the videos of varying bitrates.  However, I can't seem to get it to work in Captivate and Adobe is a little vague on how/if one references the manifest file. (i.e. I can't find any examples.)
So, does Captivate support dynamic streaming video?
If not, which is more robust in Captivate? HTTP progressive download or regular (non-Dynamic) RTMP Streaming Video?

Thanks Erik.
We did some more tests/checking-around and have convinced ourselves that the URL needs to point to the manifest file in order for Dynamic Media Streaming to work.
When we examined the Adobe Media Server sample web page (below), we found buttons to select different media sources.
The 'Multiple Bitrate' button under RTMP Dynamic Streaming Sample is mapped to the URL of an F4M (manifest) file.
The 'Single Bitrate' button is mapped to an individual mp4 file.
We also found more clues in the FlowPlayer RTMP F4M page.
Also, I'm guessing that Captivate can't handle adaptive bitrate streaming from non-RTMP sources based on the menu options. (See screen capture below)
If the menu above is correct, the first choice is the opposite of streaming media, because it says 'Progressive Download'.  (Progressive download caches the video file on the client machine.)
The next one is for private Adobe Media Streaming and the third is for 3rd-party Adobe Media Streaming services.
So, I'm pretty much convinced that it's not supported.

  • Dynamic receiver determination for synchron interface

    Hello everybody,
I want to use dynamic receiver determination for a synchron scenario.
The problem is, that the interface 'ReceiverDetermination' (http://sap.com/xi/XI/System SAP BASIS 7.00) is a asynchron interface.
This leads to an error when activating the Interface-Mapping (synch source Interface -> asynch destination Interface ReceiverDetermination)
Is there a way to use the dynamic receiver determination for synchron interface?
    Thanks a lot,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
I guess your scenario is not possible ASIS, since XI doesn't support 1:n for sync interfaces (and even if your mapping condition reduces it to 1:1, actually it is still 1:n, since your receiver list is unbounded).
Theoretically, you could make it work with BPM, though.
But I've never worked with a Receiver Determination Step reading from an enhanced receiver determination in ID (though there should be no problems).
Use sync async bridge, then use receiver determination step to obtain the receiver from an enhanced Receiver Determination. Pay attention that this enhanced receiver determination is a dummy one, using a mapping from your async abstract interface to the ReceiverDetermination interface. Once your mapping has determined the receiver, the enhanced receiver determination will return that receiver to the Receiver Determination step in the BPM. Then use this receiver in the sync send step (in mode receiver from receiver list, not from context).
The receiver determination of the actual sync send step may be a standard one, with the several receivers there (even if there are several there, at the moment of the sending, only one will be used).
Maybe it will work, maybe not.
    Just try it.
    Regards,
    Henrique.

  • Captivate 7 multi-slide video not working on Android

    Hello Adobe staff,
still needing help with this one from my previous question "Captivate 7 event video playback controls not working."
The question has now narrowed down to:
How can I make a multi-slide mp4 video in HTML5 format work on Androids? It works fine on iPad and computer, but Androids will not playback the video, only the audio.
    Thanks,
    Nat

Not all Android versions or Android browsers support MP4.
I suggest you take a look at this page to see which versions do or don't.
    http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html
If your Android version or browser doesn't support MP4, there's not a lot you can do other than upgrade.

  • How does LinkSys WRT54G v7 support RTSP streaming service?

    Hello,
I'm using LinkSys WRT54G v7 and I can see RTSP videos using VLC player from m.youtube.com. Strangely, I cannot play videos if other AP such as DLINK is used instead of LinkSys.
I analyzed the packets and found out that RTSP server(youtube) sends RTP packets to client's ports which are acquired at RTSP SETUP procedures. Then the packets from server cannot reach the client because UDP hole is not punched at the AP.
But, when I use LinkSys, the RTP packets can traverse the NAT.
Here goes my question. Does LinkSys provide the NAT traversal of the RTSP streaming service? Then, why can't I find any feature list about this from the LinkSys product information? Any explanation about this?
Thank you in advance for your help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    1. None of the NAT helpers in Linksys firmware are documented anywhere.
    2. Possibly, they have added a helper for RTP.
    3. It could also be that the VLC player forwards the port using UPnP.

  • Does Dreamweaver CS5.5 support in-app purchases for mobile apps?

I am starting to take a look at developing a mobile app for my business and Dreamweaver CS5.5 looks like the platform I am going to use.  My question is this: do apps built this way have support for in-app purchases?
    Thanks.

If you are asking can you develop it I don't see why not.  Just refer to the documentation from the appropriate Marketplace for details on setting up in-app purchasing restrictions and requirements.  If you are asking if there is a built-in function to make an easy "in-app purchase button" I would lean towards the No on this answer because I don't believe that is in DW.

  • What does the Pro App Support 4.0 do for Aperture?

The description of the update is kind of cryptic, I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this.

After loading my Aperture slowed down a lot. When using the loupe and mousing over thumbnails on the light table I now get the spinning beach-ball and dialog saying "loading image" which I never got BEFORE loading this update...and that's with NO other change to Aperture.. not even any additional image files.
    Not happy.

    Hi Uyen,
The 5622 has limited onboard signal processing that it can do.  AM demodulation is one function that it can do.  Below is a section from the NI High-Speed Digitizers Help that explains how to perform this function:

  • Organizer cannot show thumbnails or play video for my captured DV video

I have captured DV video from my 10-year old DV camera (Sony DCR-TR22) that Elements Organizer is neither able to preview nor show thumbnails for. When I double click on it, I get a preview window, but all I can do is play the audio, and I see a generic video icon in place of the actual video.
On the other hand, the video plays back just fine in the editing window, so I know the right codecs are there somewhere.
I am using Windows 7 64bit. I've also installed VideoLan, but I don't think that's the culprit as I uninstalled it to see if that solves the issue (and it does not).
Not being able to use Organizer for my DV video makes Elements much less useful than advertised. Please help.

DV files us the DV codec. It's a universal codec that's included with every operating system.
The only thing I can think is that some other software on your computer replaced the standard DV coded with that IEC61384 or whatever codec.
You can probably restore the DV codec by downloading the K Lite Codec Pak.
    http://codecguide.com/download_kl.htm
Downloading codec packs isn't always a good idea, but this is a terrific and pack that I've used with no problems.
You only need the Basic pack -- although the advanced pack includes some very nice tools. Just make sure you click the links on the right side of the web page and not and not the big green DOWNLOAD button, which is actually an ad.

  • Does Seeburger's SFTP adapter support dynamic filename creation

    Hi all,
Does the SFTP adapter support dynamic filename creation.
If yes, then do we have to use UDF's and are there any specific settings that have to be done in the SFTP communication channel.
Please provide a blog which helps in the configuration process of the above case.
    thanks,
    younus

Dynamic Creation of File using counter in Seeburger Variable:
    1. Configuration Needed in the Communication Channel:
The process of dynamic creation of files can be done we have to select the following checkbox in the receiver channel:
    Dynamic Attribute in receiver Channel:
    Import the following modules:
    Localejbs/Seeburger/solution/sftp
    Localejbs/Seeburger/AttribMapper
    Localejbs/ModuleProcessorExitBean
Enter  the desired file naming convention:
Use the Parameter GetCounter("ID") to the place where the counter is expected to come.
    2. Configuration Needed in the SeeBurger Workbench:
If the J2EE server is listening on a port different from 50000 (which is the standard for the SAP client 000), the port number must be configured:
Login into the seeburger workbench using the URL
    http://<localhost>:<port number>/seeburger/index.html
    Select Property Store.
Create or edit the following property:
    Parameter
    Value
    Namespace
    http://seeburger.com/xi/SeeFunctions
    Key
    provider.servlet.server
    Value
http://localhost:50000/ (where the port number 50000 must be set
accordingly to the J2EE server configuration).
Note: The configured value (server URL) has to end with a slash (/). Otherwise,
    SeeFunctions will not work correctly.
If we need to start the counter from any specific value , it can be configured in the SeeBurger workbench, this value can be maintained in Mapping Variables :

  • Question regarding dynamic streaming

could you help me please.Does  flash media server 4 support dynamic streaming , i mean choosing  video with right bit rate on the server side automaticly ? or do i have to implement this  on the client side , switching streams with  DynamicStream   like shown here : http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashmediaserver/articles/dynstream_advanced_pt1.html
    *sorry for mistakes
    thanks in advance

    Hi Mamata,
You seem knowledgeable with the Flash Media Server.
I'm using the Flash Media Server's Native Bandwidth Detection to automatically dish up the best video the user's bandwidth will support.
My confusion right now lies in the results that the test provides.
My Flash Media Server consistently reports speeds of only 14,000 kbps , while speed tests on other online bandwidth tests like Speakeasy and CNet show speed results between 40,000 and 70,000 kbps.
Is the Flash Media Server using an entirely different algorhithm?  It's difficult to discuss minimum project requirements with a client when Flash's test results differer so greatly from the rest of the world.
Any meaningful insights you can provide?
    thanks,
    Mike

  • Adobe Air 3.0 iOS streaming H264/Speex over RTMP -- No Video

    Problem:
H264/Speex RTMP stream from Flash Media Server doesn't display video.  Audio plays fine.
    Conditions:
    Adobe Air 3.0
    iOS device (iPad 2, iOS4.3)
    App settings:
    <renderMode>direct</renderMode>
    Flash Builder 4.5.1 compiler settings:
    -swf-version=13
    -target-player=11.0.0
I have tried using both stageVideo and the regular Video object to render an H264 signal streaming from Flash Media Server over rtmp, but with no luck.  I can hear the audio, but the video is never rendered.
I CAN see H263 video when streamed over RTMP using this setup (with just the Video object).
I can also stream a locally stored mp4 (H264/AAC) file over rtmp from the iOS device and play it locally just fine (using a stageVideo object).
I have attempted this with both stageVideo (which works fine when streaming an mp4 file from the iOS device) and with the regular Video object (the regular Video object handles H263 just fine streaming down from FMS over rtmp).  I've also played around with backgroundAlpha = "0" for this case, all with no luck.
I've followed all the online instructions and tutorials to get this working for the past week, but have not had any luck.  I'm happy to post more code, but this approach is fairly straight forward and has been described multiple times around these forums and in the adobe blog posts.  It goes like this:
         - instantiate NetConnection (_nc) to FMS and wait for successful connection:
                   _ns = new NetConnection();
                   _nc.connect(serverAddress);
         - instantiate NetStream (_ns) and connect using NetConnection:
                   _ns = new NetStream(_nc);
         - setup listener for StageVideoAvailabilityEvent; if stageVideo becomes available, attach _ns:
                  _stageVideo = stage.stageVideos[0];
                  _stageVideo = _stageVideo.attachNetStream(_ns);
         - if stageVideo ISN'T available, fall back to Video object:
                   _video = new Video();
                   _video.attachNetStream(_ns);
                   stage.addChild(_video);
         - play netStream app:
                   _ns.play(appName);
My renderMode is set correctly ("direct"), and from what I can tell, this isn't a backgroundAlpha issue.
I have seen this problem described elsewhere on this forums and on the net.
I'd like to know from Adobe: are there any compatibility issues with this approach?  There doesn't seem to be any type of compatibility chart listing which video codecs and transport protocols are available on the different mobile platforms.  Since mobile deployment is so heaviliy fragmented, a descriptive chart or table like this would be helpful for those of us developing -- at least for the main mobile platforms predominantly in use.

    Thanks in advance!

I do hope someone from Adobe is "hearing" this, guys. The lack of RTMP-based H.264 video on the Air for iOS is a major problem, indeed.
As Fabio Sonnati mentioned in http://sonnati.wordpress.com/2011/04/26/air-2-6-for-ios-and-video-play back/, AIR for iOS does support HTTP streaming (via HLS) of h.264 videos. However, when streaming via RTMP, AIR for iOS only supports VP6 and Spark – a couple of old, retired codecs.
While HTTP streaming (HLS) seems to be a good option for those who simply want to “play a video” in iOS, I do believe it has some severe limitations, especially for live-communications. I’d like to share some of these thoughts with you.
    1. HLS has ridiculously high latency for live videos (around 40 seconds), when compared to RTMP. Although this may not be a problem for on-demand videos, it sure is a great problem for anyone doing serious live-communications applications (such as webconferencing, live webcasting with audience interaction or Skype-like video chats), which require near-zero latency.
    2. Perhaps someone can correct me on this (hopefully!), but as far as I know, HTTP streaming will not allow cuepoints to be read from videos. This is particularly painful for anyone doing video-triggered actions, such as slide changes (for webinar apps), subtitling or live closed captioning, etc. I read somewhere that OSMF player allows cuepoints (or "temporal metadata". See http://blogs.adobe.com/osmf/2009/11/cue_point_support_in_osmf.html), but I haven't been able to test it myself.
    3. Although HLS it is quite compatible with firewalls (since it flows through port 80), RTMP with tunnelling also flows through port 80 or 443, which adds great compatibility, even on very restricted networks. Our experience with very large clients proves that, hands down.
In other words, HTTP/HLS streaming is Ok. But it simply does *not* fit into every shoe that RTMP does. We do believe that RTMP remains as our best option for live streaming or serious streaming-oriented *apps* (in which things more complex than “mere video playing in a window” actually happen).
That all said, I do believe we should let Adobe know about this need. The fact that RTMP streaming in AIR for iOS is limited to VP6 and Spark, which are two “dead” codecs, still puts us, Air developers, in a very fragile position in terms of what we can accomplish with video in iOS.
I’m sure some of you cheered when you heard about Flash Player 11 having h.264 video encoding. This, (plus the echo cancellation feature that came in 10.3) opened great doors for great Unified-Communication applications to be developed for Flash/Air. Now, it’s undeniable that clients want those applications running on tablets, especially the iPad.
Not being able to use h.264 via RTMP on iOS is certainly a huge step backwards. Anyone shares this same opinion? What do you guys believe to be the best option to let Adobe really know about this need? Is this limitation a simple lack-of-a-feature (which can be fixed by Adobe) or is this some imposed thing by Apple?
Just one final note: Air for Android does *not* have the same limitation. It does allow RTMP streaming of h.264.
    Thanks for your attention,
    Helder Conde

  • Server error 503 when running On-demand HTTP Dynamic Streaming tutorial

    Hi,
I'm trying to set up an HTTP Dynamic Streaming environment for VoD (not live streaming). I'm following the instructions in the HTTP Dynamic Streaming Quick Start guide (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/HTTPStreaming/1.0/Using/WS8d6ed60bd880807c48597a9e1265edd6cc0- 8000.html#WS8af793f9af34bea0def106e12873ad717a-8000)
I'm running everything on Windows 7. I installed Apache 2.2, as well as the HTTP Origin module and the f4fpackager. I also installed the Microsoft 2005 and 2008 Visual C++ redustibutable packages (I actually have 3 different versions of the 2008 redistributable package installed on my system).
I ran f4fpackager using the default settings (I only configured the input file and output path). The input file is an H.264 video several minutes long. The result is a single video file (CascadaSeg1.f4f), a single index file (CascadaSeg1.f4x) and the manifest (Cascada.f4m).
I am using the sample OSMF player linked to by the quick start guide. The player plays the sample links correctly.
When I try accessing the .f4m file I generated the video starts playing and then stops with a player message that the segment is unavailable. The network trace shows that the player asks for CascadaSeg1-Frag1, receives it, then asks for CascadaSeg1-Frag3 to which the server returns a "503 Service Temporarily Unavailable" error.
I raised Apache logging level to debug but didn't find anything useful (at least not to me :-) )
Reinstalling all components did not resolve the problem (as was suggested in a different similar discussion).
I can't even distinguish whether the problem is a packager problem or a server problem. I am trying to obtain Flash Media Server 3.8 but that will take a while, if at all.
Any ideas? Does anyone have a correctly packaged video file that I could put on my server to see if that plays correctly? Other suggestions?
    All help is much appreciated.
    Regards,
    - Naomi

Thanks for the pointer. See below the output from the parser (I formatted the first rows for easier reading). I'm not sure exactly how to read it, but it seems the parser found no errors and indeed there is a Fragment 3 but no Fragment 2.
I see that between fragment 1 and 3 there is a large increase in time (twice the increase between other segments).
I don't know how to interpret afra_offset. The f4f file size is 59.1 MB - if afra_offset is a byte offset than the file is definitely large enough.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Thanks!

    Hi John,
Form the description of your issue (and from a short investigation) I can deduce that your assets do not have synchronized keyframes. Please try to re-encode them and force a fixed keyframe interval.
Since the switch can be done on keyframe only, and if you do not have a keyframe in the second stream at that position, the playback will stop with an error.
    S.
