Does CISCO C3560X VLAN support multiple Network segments which are further configured with HSRP function

Hi Cisco experts,
My name is Kumagai and I need your expert opinions below.
I am trying to configure one VLAN1 support multiple network segments as below.
(this should be a very straight forward configuration and should be OK, I think ? )
 interface Vlan1
 ip address 172.30.0.0 255.255.128.0
 ip address 172.30.31.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
 ip address 172.30.61.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
 ip address 172.30.71.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
 ip address 172.30.4.253 255.255.255.0 secondary
The only issue that is eating me is the above network segments are using HSRP too
and I am not sure is this possible with a combination of VLAN1 supporting multiples which are
further supported with HSRP settings in Cisco environment.
!example of HSRP:
interface Vlan4
 ip address 172.30.4.253 255.255.255.0
 no ip redirects
 standby 4 ip 172.30.4.254
 standby 4 priority 105
 standby 4 preempt
<<< what will happen if I add the HSRP configuration as below into the above VLAN1 with multiple Network segment ??)
I would like to summarize my "Combined" configurations as below but I need your expert opinions on
whether the configuration below is workable without any problem ??
Or it is a total flop because Cisco does not support the configuration below !!!
 interface Vlan1
 ip address 172.30.0.0 255.255.128.0
 ip address 172.30.31.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
 ip address 172.30.61.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
 ip address 172.30.71.253 255.255.254.0 secondary
 ip address 172.30.4.253 255.255.255.0  secondary
 standby 30 ip 172.30.31.254
 standby 30 priority 105
 standby 30 preempt
 standby 60 ip 172.30.61.254
 standby 60 priority 105
 standby 60 preempt
 standby 70 ip 172.30.71.254
 standby 70 priority 105
 standby 70 preempt
 standby  4 ip 172.30.4.254
 standby  4 priority 105
 standby  4 preempt
Thanking you in advance !!!!!

Hi,
As far as i know we dont set the ip helper address on the radio interface. It should be on the L3 interface of corresposding VLANs i.e.
int vlan 20
ip helper-address 192.168.33.xxx
int vlan 60
ip helper-address 130.20.1.xxx
I'm assuming that your using SVI's (int Vlan 20 and int Vlan 60) rahter than physical interfaces. Also hope you have configured switch port as trunk where this AP is connected.
Modify the AP config as below since you are using data vlan as the native vlan
interface Dot11Radio0.20
encapsulation dot1Q 20 native
interface FastEthernet0.20
encapsulation dot1Q 20 native
Ideally your AP fastethernet configuration should looks like below and not sure how you missed this as this comes by default when you have multiple vlans for multiple ssids.
interface FastEthernet0.20
encapsulation dot1Q 20 native
no ip route-cache
bridge-group 20
no bridge-group 20 source-learning
bridge-group 20 spanning-disabled
interface FastEthernet0.60
encapsulation dot1Q 60
no ip route-cache
bridge-group 60
no bridge-group 60 source-learning
bridge-group 60 spanning-disabled
Hope this helps.

Najaf

Does Cisco Prime Infrastructure supports monitoring CPU,Memory, HDD for UCS , VMWare?

Prime Infrastructure/ Assurance is  positioned today more towards managing network elements and network performance,  rather than server infrastructure. We are in the process of adding Datacenter  component support, with more focus on Nexus and UCS- due later this  year.
Having said that, Prime Infrastructure allows the system user to  add custom SNMP polling templates, which can then be used for polling any SNMP  based values from any SNMP enabled device. These can be used to collect the  information you specified below and the polled information will be available in  dashboards and reports.

Is there a list of AE/bonjour supported printers?

Bonjour is a transport protocol. It also provides a means of advertising a printer on a network.
Any list that shows printers that support Bonjour is generally an indication that the printer itself supports this protocol, meaning that when it is connected to the network, you can see it in your default Add Printer browser. In the case of the Airport, it also supports the Bonjour protocol and will advertise any printer that is connected to its USB port. The printer itself does not have to support Bonjour. The Airport performs this function. And like many lists, they are not kept up to date because each vendor releases several new models every quarter or half year.
There are definitely printers that don't work when connected to the USB port of the Airport. And this is more that the printer driver does not support this type of connection, mainly due to the port not supporting bidirectional communications which some printer drivers require. The Canon UFR2 and CAPT drivers are a good example of this limitation. But this is only the Mac drivers. The Windows equivalent drivers work fine when the printer is connected to the USB port.
So with you having an issue with the Windows drivers then I don't think it is a case of them not supporting Bonjour but more to do with some other component not functioning when the printer is shared by the Airport. The error message appears to have more to do with local user rights which is probably driver related. I've seen some printers that you cannot use the Windows Add Printer wizard to add them. Instead you have to use the vendors utility because of some proprietary protocol being used. Maybe this is one of those?
Now that you seen how it should work based on when you used the C3188, if you still get that error message at point 6 of adding the C1025 then it would suggest a driver compatibility issue with the Airport - which is not necessarily a Bonjour compatibility issue. So unless there was another model of HP printer driver that you could use to this C1025 and that was also compatible with the USB port of the Airport Extreme, then I would suggest your best action is to replace the printer with a model that does work. Maybe even one that has builtin wireless so you don't have to use the USB port of the Airport.

I have recently purchased the latest ipad. Got to say I am extremely dissapointed that it does not support Java or flash which are platforms needed to do online business banking. I am now faced with ditching an expensive toy for a competitors product that offers full business functionallity. Is there any way round this ? It seems extremely bad form on apples part not to support this or make it very clear of the products limitations at the time of purchase.

Well, my bank has an app but the website does not use Flash or Java.  While my credit union doesn't have an app, their website doesn't require Flash or Java either.
I pay all my bills online, bank, and access my brokerage accounts.  None of the sites I have encountered require Flash or Java.  Some government sites do require Flash so I use Photon, it's a browser that does Flash content very well.  So you might check out some alternatives browsers.
Otherwise I suppose you will either dump you bank, your iPad, or just not do online banking.

  • Cisco 38xx: VLANs support

    Sirs:
What is the maximum number of VLANs allowed in the in-built GEth interfaces? It depends on IOS version?

    Hi,
The 3800s platform will allow you to configure any of the VLAN IDs in the range of 1-4094. The number of actual sub-interfaces that you can create will be limited by the number of Interface Descriptor Blocks (IDB) supported by the platform.
Quoting from CCO: "An Interface Descriptor Block (IDB) is a special control structure internal to the Cisco IOS software that contains information such as the IP address, interface state, and packet statistics. Cisco IOS software maintains one IDB for each interface present on a platform and one IDB for each subinterface."
The number of interfaces that you can have is limited by the IDB limit for the platform and of course, memory available.
Therefore, while you can theoretically configure 4094 ethernet sub-interfaces, in practice that is not achievable.
Now, the 3825 supports a maximum of 1200 software IDBs and the 3845 supports 1400. So that is what you are limited to.
To find out how much your platform supports, issue the 'show idb' command.

  • Does the 2106 WLC support multiple interfaces?

I am trying to lab something up and I believe I am doing something incorrectly.    My management VLAN works fine, the AP on port 7 finds the controller fine, but my VLAN 80 doesn't seem to be mapped to port 2.  I mapped a test WLAN to the VLAN, and setup a DHCP scope, and a client can get on the WLAN, acquire an IP address, etc.  I thought I coudl then map that VLAN (80) to port 2 and have it go out a cable modem.  Doesn't seem to be working that way, however.
Anyone know if this is supported, or what am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance!

    You are getting FANCY Tim!
For starters you should really use a switch because sometimes you may get odd behavior connecting right to the WLC. Also the WLC is like a layer 2 switch and doesnt route. Ive done something similar in fact. We call it offnet. We break out the ports and have 1 going external. We used a switch inbetween the ap and comcast line.

  • Does Cisco 2900 series support any HWIC-AP module?

    Hi Everybody:
I would like to deploy a Cisco 2911 router with a built in AP feature. I found that there are some HWIC-AP modules but they are only supported by ISGR1 series router. Is there any option to do this for ISGR2 routers?
    Thanks!!

Do you have a computer plugged into the back of the phone?  I assume so ... but figured I would ask.  If not, then simply placing the port into the correct vlan is all that is needed.
Any chance you would consider our SPA500 series phones instead?  As these phones support CDP for vlan and poe assignments.  Humm ... I know this is not exactly the answer you are looking for, but with the ESW series switches, we are a bit limited.
If the computers plug into the phones, can you have the computers and phones on the same vlans?  The default QoS config settings given more preference to higher DSCP values.
