Does Digital Editions support PDF Portfolios?

I guess the answer is "no" but does Adobe Digital Editions offer any support for PDF Portfolios?

I put this in another post, I am not trying to spam.  I have spent too much time frustrated with this ADE problem that I just want to make sure others get the message...
Here is a plan that works.  I just did it on my Nook HD+.  It requires a Dropbox account which is free and easy to set up.
1. Install Dropbox on your Nook HD.
2. On your computer or other device, put the .epub file for your book in a Dropbox folder.
3. Open the .epub file on your Nook HD.
4. Read and enjoy.
(It may prompt you to select which reader you want to use in step 3.  Since I have the Books a Million reader on mine, it asked if I wanted to use that or the generic reader.  Both worked to open the book.)

  • Does Digital Edition support fallback for epub?

    Hi,
I am playing around with epub format those days.
I tried to embed non-standard resource files in the package and use fallback to display the alternative of those files. But seems like it didn't work.
I did a litter search, and found someone had similar problem:
    http://www.idpf.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=87&sid=670ae63f5e3f67521141399c30b40ec6
    No body answered the post.
Is there anyone knowing if the fallback is supported by current Digital Edition (1.5)?
    Thanks,
    sfan

    sfan,
It depends on how you do it.
Fallbacks through XHTML object tag should be working correctly (i.e. Digital Editions should display the content inside the object tag, if the resource type is not supported).
Chapter-level fallbacks specified in OPF file are not yet supported.

  • Does Adobe Digital Editions support media queries?

Does Adobe Digital Editions support EPUBs with media queries?

    Thanks Jim,
Is it possible to use more than one CSS by using conditional query in XHTML like this:
      <link href="a.css" media="all and (min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 1024px)" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
      <link href="b.css" media="all and (min-width:1025px)" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
ADE will recognize the "media" parameters?

  • Does Office Web Apps 2013 supports PDF Portfolio Documents

    Hi Team,
Could you please let me know whether office web apps supports Adobe Acrobat X PDF Portfolios (Preview PDF portfolio files through OWA 2013 in SharePoint 2013).
    Thanks!
    Bharat
    Thanks! Palani K

    Hi Bharat,
Quote from the link you provided:
The original files retain their individual identities but are assembled into one PDF Portfolio file. You can open, read, edit, and format each component file independently of the other component files in the PDF Portfolio. Depending on the circumstances,
PDF Portfolios offer several advantages over merging multiple files into a single PDF.
Since the issue is related to third party product, I'd recommend you also contact their support engineer for more sufficient resource and assistance.
There is not many articles as I could find that talk about pdf portfolio in Office Web App, here is a similar thread:

  • Does Digital editions work with  screen readers

Yesterday I discovered that the books I can read online provided by my library have changed to acsm files instead of protected pdf files. I have installed digital Editions, but it seems that it does not work with my screen reader. When I open the digital editions application there are no controls at all. When I open a acsm file it opens digital editions and nothing happens! I am using  JAWS for Windows as my screen reader. Is Digital Editions at all accessable for screen reader users?? There is nothing about Digital Editions on the Adobe  accessability pages not a good sign for blind users!

No. For information about the future plans for this see http://blogs.adobe.com/billmccoy/2009/10/adobe-ebooks--.html

  • Does adobe editions support kobo arc 7 hd?

trying to add new kobo arc 7 hd but adobe doesn't recognize it so can't transfer books

I'm giving the same advice a few times on different threads, so I hope it's right.
Digital Editions recognizes most dedicated eBook readers (as in the list) directly so they show up in ADE,
but does not recognize tablets that have eBook capabilities.
This includes android tablets (probably including KoboArc), and ios tablets such as iPad.
If you have a tablet, you need to install an eBook reading app on it: I suggest Bluefire.
Make sure Bluefire app is registered to the same AdobeID as your ADE.
You can then copy epub files from your PC/Mac using a file manager and read them using Bluefire.
(Apple makes it more difficult, you need iTunes, Dropbox or similar to copy).
    If the books are not DRM, there is no need to use ADE at all;
either download them direct to the tablet and read on Bluefire, or download to the PC/Mac and copy.
For DRM library books you will find an Overdrive app that allows books to be checked out, downloaded and read directly on an android/ios device.
There are also dedicated apps from various vendors.

  • Converting digital edition to PDF

    Hi there
I've bought a digital edition ebook, which my Sony Reader won't read. Is there a way to convert the digital edition book into a PDF?
    Cheers

By block I mean the text box that can be inserted. What I did was copy all of the text to the clipboard, delete the text box, insert a new text box, and paste the text. I had to reset the bullets and such, but it was a standard text block. When I printed to PDF, it was still text. That was the observation I was making that there appears to be something associated with the various text blocks that you have that is making the PDF creation give graphics rather than text. Unfortunately, I am not a big OFFICE user and would have to hunt to see if I could find the related properties.
I have not resolved the problem yet. You can download the modified lecture.pptx and lecture.pdf that have copied the first page and then copied the text of the main box, deleted the box, and put the text in a new box. The end result is that the PDF is actually text for this part. I did this with the PDF plugin from MS, but get the same results with Acrobat. The URLs are http://wadavis.ece.vt.edu/VTAG/lecture.pdf and http://wadavis.ece.vt.edu/VTAG/lecture.pptx. I have observed in the PPT file that the new text box has much crisper fonts than in the original text box. So something is definitely happening with the formatting of the box, but I don't have a clue. If I just copy the text out of the box and then retype, the same problem occurs, so it is box related.
I have been to the slide design and other places and can find no formatting issues that seem relevant. It definitely seems to be some formatting issue in PPT.

  • Why does Digital Edition not work in desktop mode for WIndows 8?

I have installed the most recent version of JAVA and then downloaded and installed Digital Editions.  I can open Digital Editions in desktop mode but when I select a book I cannot turn the page or move to a new page by any means.  The only thing that seems to work is to select a new page and then toggle between full screen and partial.

I don't think ADE uses Java at all.
I run it in desktop mode in WIndows 8 and it reads books and turns pages fine: either using the left-right arrow keys,
or clicking on the forward/back buttons each side of the scrollbar at the bottom of the page.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0, and even though that isn't a bug for me it may be for you.
Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

The forum software is sometimes corrupting the link above.  There shouldn't be a blank in 'editio ns.html'.  The following redirects to the same page: http://tinyurl.com/diged172

  • Why does Digital Editions KEEP asking me to copy a book to the Library when I exit? It's driving me crazy!

Every single time I close Digital Edition, it asks to copy the book to the Library. I don't want to, so I click the "Don't show this again" and click close.
Seems that you can only get rid of this dialog by copying EVERYTHING opened to the library.
    Please fix this bug/bad design!

A "keychain" is a secure database in which passwords are stored in an encrypted format to prevent unauthorized discovery of your passwords. Think of it like a bank safe deposit box in which you can safely store your passwords.
If you have a problem with your keychain then perhaps you have not changed the passwords correctly or need to repair your keychain. You might try:
Assuming that you are using a recent build of OS X, go to /Applications/Utilities and launch the app called Keychain Access. Go to the Window pulldown menu and select "Keychain First Aid". Enter your password, set the radio button to "Repair", and click "Start".

  • Does Digital Editions work with Kindle?

Does ADE work with the Kindle Touch?

    Hello everybody,
sorry but my first post is a complain. I have bought a Kindle and am very satisfied with it; I am using it since several months and have bought many books on the Web, reading them without any problem. With the pdf books it's all very easy, I can translate them in txt and then transfer them to my Kindle. With the introduction of this proprietary ACSM, the text is in Flash and although I can highlight it, I am forbidden to copy it in a txt window. So the problem is not Amazon and Kindle: it is Adobe's format and their use of a format that forbids copying.
Though I understand the problems with piracy (of a book? uhmm....) this is not something that I am ready accept when I have correctly paid my money for a e-book that I want to read on whatever e-reader I have decided to purchase.
I hope that Adobe will reconsider this. Meanwhile I had to ask for a refund of my e-books in ACSM and I am thinking of canceling my Adobe account as it is useless for what I would need it.
    Have a great 2012,
    Stefano

  • Digital Editions current and future support of ePub3?

Does Digital Editions support ePub3 features like embedded audio/video or support of Imirus and Zmags digital content formats? If not, when/are they planning on supporting these features?
I can't seem to get an answer out of any Adobe reps other than what is already listed in the FAQs.
Thanks in advance for any info!

    Hello ScottishCaptain and welcome!
Future third party and Apple apps will be compiled into Universal Binaries, so they will run on either processor.
Since Apple knows how many PPC (G3's, G4's and G5's) is out there everytime we update the OS, they will know when to stop producing universal apps and just provide Intel only versions. That could take many many years as PPC is the overwhelming majority at this time.
Apple most likely will share this info with third party software developers so they will as well keep their maximum options open to selling their software.
You'll most likely upgrade the Quad long before universal apps are no longer produced anyway.
    http://appleintelfaq.com/
However if there is some PC software you wish to continue running on a Mac after you dump the PC's, you'll have to wait for the new Mac Pro with Intel processors to be released. I don't expect any substantial performance increase though, the Core Duals are just catching up to 3 year old G5 processors now as it is.
The Quad is a killer box and the third party software is widely available.
