Does Foxtab PDF Converter exist, is it malware?

Heard about a Firefox add-on named Foxtab PDF Converter, googled it, got four hits saying it was malware and pervasive (as to uninstalling it.) It is supposed to convert any file capable of being printed to PDF, which seems like a handy add-on. Is anybody using it, or are the scares founded in reality?

Why does Acrobat Pdf converter file slow down my 2003, Windows  Word Program.  I only experience this problem when i convert a pdf file to a doc file.

Hi Bill -- thanks for your reply!
When I check the Document Properties on Acrobat I can see that the fonts used in the document (Cambria, Times and Windings) are listed as "Embedded Subset" in the Fonts panel. The machine it was created on did use an earlier version of OS X and an old version of Word, but it seems to have the proper fonts...

  • Does the PDF converter require Internet access?

I often deal with sensitive data and have to go to isolated networks. If the PDF converter requires access to the Internet and the Adobe 'cloud', I can not use it.

    Hi Robertw49066875,
'Acrobat.com' is a cloud based service and yes it requires an internet connectivity to convert files.
However Acrobat software can be used without requiring any internet connection. You can download a free 30 day trial using this Link : https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html

  • Hyperlinks in Excel not working when doing the PDF Convert

I have worked on this and worked on this. Now I am at a point where I need assistance as I am stumped.  I have about 20 different facilities that have financial statements that need to be published in Adobe as a PDF format and when I go through the steps to convert everything looks good, except the links are not working. We have about 62-74 pages that will be exported and due to the departments and such we need the links to work.
    This is through Excel-
I  select the worksheets I want to convert then after it is done I open the PDF and the links are not working. To set them up manually in Adobe is too labor intensive -- any ideas on how to get this to work?
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide me.

I am on the X version.
    I am using the PDFMaker
Using either 2003 or 2010 Excel version
Click on making bookmarks and links
I can send an attachment, please beware that is it financial information that cannot be published-also the hyperlinks are setup in Excel as well.
Not sure how to upload the worksheet and would prefer to send via email if at all possible.
ANY HELP is GREATLY Appreciated :-)
Thank you and have a great day!

  • Why does my Pdf convert into hieroglyphs in Word?

    Is it perhaps encrypted?

Maybe you can give us some more details.
Are you opening a pdf in Word? If so, are you doing it intentionally or are they just opening in Word when you double click.
Or, are you exporting a pdf to a Word document and that Word document is messed up?
More info you supply the better.

  • I use photoshop elements version 11 and just bought a nikon d750. Photoshop elements can't open/read the raw/NEF-file. Does a photoshop elements raw converter exist for Nikon d750 ??? And where can I get it ?

    I use photoshop elements version 11. I just bought a nikon d750. Photoshop elements can't read/open the raw/NEF-file.
Does a raw converter exist for this camera and where can I find it ?
    Thanks for any help.
    erwing97792269

You need Adobe camera raw version 8.7. Unfortunately your software pre-dates the camera. ACR 8.7 is only compatible with PSE13. But it is possible to download and install the free DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.7
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.7
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Does a firewire/usb converter exist ?

iMac has no firewire port ?  Need to migrate files from my LaCie-mini external which has no usb port. Does a firewire/usb converter exist ?

    No it doesn't unfortunately.
    Firewire reset, usb reset…
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect all FireWire devices and all other cables, except the keyboard and mouse cable(s).
Disconnect the computer from the power outlet and wait for 3 to 5 minutes.
Plug the computer back in and turn it on.
Reconnect the FireWire device(s) (one at a time if there is more than one) and test. Test with each FireWire port if you have more than one.

  • Adobe PDF converter does not convert and include the videos from websites when completed

Have just recently upgraded to Acrobat Pro X and have attempted to convert several on-line websites to PDF's.  In each and every case, the videos were not included in the final conversion to PDF.
Not sure if there are specific settings that I need to address or if I am doing something wrong here.   Have been told by colleagues it should be a simple click to achieve these results and that Acrobat X does convert and include videos.   These videos are in Adobe Flash Player format 11.1.102.63.   Not sure where to go from here, any assistance greatly appreciated!

In the IE toolbar, under the PDF Convert button, select Preferences. Click on the Conversion Setting button under the General tab and make sure that "Embed Multimedia Content when possible" is selected.

  • Why does the Adobe Acrobat X Web to PDF converter icon not show up?

I installed Adobe Acrobat X yesterday on this work computer, but the Web to PDF converter icon has not yet shown up. I have the icons, and they are functional, in the Mozilla Firefox on my home computer.

    hi WDWPhishFan,
Have you looked at [[The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]]?
The first article has a lot of good troubleshooting steps that might help. The second article actual lists a couple of plugins that can be used for opening PDF files. I'd give both of them a try just in case.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • How to convert existing FM to DITA 1.2? Any documentation?

I watched a webinar posted on the adobe website called "How to Optimize content for smooth migration into XML/DITA" and in the conversion, it showed an element called dita (root) and elements called topic before the main content. I took a class in DITA authoring last month and we learned about elements such as reference and then refbody and concept and conbody. The class I took did not go into how to use DITA in FrameMaker which is what I need to figure out now.
I'm using FM 10. I have a conversion table that is working pretty well, however, I understand that I need to import an EDD and a template into the files I convert.
    My questions are:
What template and EDD file do I use? There are so many of them in the Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker10\Structure\xml\DITA_1.2\app folder. In the DITA folder there are folders for concept, and reference and task that look correct. However, in the DITA_1.2 folder I have no idea where to start.
Is there any documentation for DITA_1.2 for FrameMaker 10? Or books or Help or anything for someone new to using DITA in FrameMaker. I looked at the FM 10 Help for DITA, but it does not really cover when you are converting existing documents, just creating new topics.
Thank you for any information you can provide.
    Karene

    Hello,
Hoepfully, I understand your questions correctly. Once converted to DITA (regardless of version), each file with have a DOCTYPE. That will be the root element in the file. For example:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE task PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DITA Task//EN" "technicalContent/dtd/task.dtd"
In this file, the doctype is <task>. After DOCTYPE you have the public identifier followed by the DTD. FrameMaker uses all this info to determine what template to open the file in, what DTD to parse against, and what read/write rules file to use.
Unlike DITA 1.1, which uses one EDD and template, DITA 1.2 uses multiple template and EDDs. If you open the Application Definition file by selecting StructureTool > Edit Application Definitions, you can find the template, DTD, and r/w rules filesthat are associated with each doctype. For example:
    $STRUCTDIR\xml\DITA_1.2\app\technicalContent\dtd\task.dtd
This says, the DTD for doctype <task> is, by default, here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker10\Structure\xml\DITA_1.2\app\technicalContent\dtd\task.dtd
As for the template, it is here
    $STRUCTDIR\xml\DITA_1.2\app\technicalContent\template\task.template.fm
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\AdobeFrameMaker11\Structure\xml\DITA_1.2\app\technicalContent\template\task.t emplate.fm
You want to get the Structured Application Developers Guide. I am not sure there is one for FM10, but the one for FM9 will work.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FrameMaker/9.0/StructuredDev/Structure_Dev_Guide.pdf
It's not a quick and easy learning process for developing and EDD. The out-of-the-box EDD does have a lot of formatting covered. It says in the EDD that not everything is covered. For example, I think it only has two levels of bullet <ul> and numbered lists <ol> covered.
As I mentioned FM uses multible EDDs. Each top-level EDD uses several levels of nested EDDs (text insets). It is set up in much the same way as the DTDs. It makes editing the EDDs a time-consuming process.
    Hope this helps,
    Stan

  • How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which makes a PDF of a web page interactive, to work in Firefox 4.0.1?

I just installed (on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) operating system/Intel i5 CPU M560 2.67 GHz) and am now using as my default browser Firefox 4.0.1 because Internet Explorer 9 was giving me so much trouble--lack of display of web content, lack of PDF reproduction when web content displayed, screwball formatting display, etc., all of which has been remedied by the mere installation of Firefox 4.0.1.
How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which converts a web page to an interactive PDF, to set up and work on Firefox 4.0.1?

You can not do that using Adobe Acrobat 9. Adobe never made a create PDF add-on for Firefox for use with Adobe Acrobat 9. They created a Firefox add-on for use with Acrobat X, but currently that one does not work with Firefox 4 though Adobe are working on an update.

  • I have Nuance PDF Converter 7.2 and after I scan a document and want to email it, I get an error message that says the scan cannot be attached to an email.

I want to be clear: I can scan the document with Nuance PDF Converter 7.2, but after the scan, I want to email the scan to someone.
When I click on the word "email" on the left side of the Nuance screen, I get a failure message. For a couple of years this process worked without a problem. I was told by Nuance Support that the problem was in the email software. Is there something on a drop
down menu that I can click on the resolve the problem? Thanks.

The problem could be that your computer doesn't have Thunderbird identified as the default e-mail program, so the first step is:
Thunderbird: Menu bar: Tools: Options: Advanced Tab: System Integration:
    Press the "Check Now..." button.
In the resulting "System Integration" window, make sure that "E-Mail" is check-marked, and "Always perform this check when starting Thunderbird" is checked. Then click the "Set as Default" button.
If you have Windows 8 or 8.1, then there is also another step:<br>
Windows Control Panel: Programs: Default Programs: Set your default programs.<br>
Find "Thunderbird" on the left side, and click to select it.<br>
On the right side, click "Set this program as default".<br>
    Then reboot the computer.<br>
If the problem still exists, then do a clean install of Thunderbird:
Certain Thunderbird problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Thunderbird's program files and then reinstall Thunderbird. Please follow these steps:
#Download the latest version of Thunderbird from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download is complete, close all Thunderbird windows (Click Exit/Quit from the menu button on the right).
#Delete the Thunderbird installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #** C:\Program Files\Mozilla Thunderbird\
    #** C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Thunderbird from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Thunderbird with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Thunderbird on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ Thunderbird Download Page], simply remove the folder ''thunderbird'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Thunderbird:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to open Thunderbird after clicking the Finish button.
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Thunderbird's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Thunderbird data, including but not limited to, extensions, emails, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
Please report back to see if this helped you!

BI can recognize the 'Web service' and methods.
I have created the paramters. The data type is 'String'
When I try to view the report using the BI publisher, I am getting teh following error in th UI
"Requested data type does not match with existing data type"
This is the first time I am using BI publisher to call the Siebel web service. I don't know what this error means
I don't know whether any log file generated wit the details of this erro message
    Any help is much appriciated
    Thanks,
    Kavitha

    Hi all,
have you find a fix for this issue? Im facing the same situation, using Complex type, and String data type both in the service and Bi publisher. We are consuming CC&B services, and we have noticed this error appears when BIPublisher is running on WebLogic (10.3) but it does not appear when BIPublisher is running on OC4J , of course running the same report on both application servers.
    Any idea?
    Thanks a lot, regards

  • When will get 64-bit PDF converter for 64-bit Firefox variants (Cyberfox, Waterfox, etc.)

I use 64-bit Firefox variants (Cyberfox, Waterfox, etc.), and am frustrated that the PDF Converter addin with Acrobat Pro X and XI does not yet work with them.  I understand that a 64-bit DLL is needed for the add-in to work.  Inasmuch as the PDF converter works with 64-bit IE-9 and IE-10 and Office2007/2010, I am at a loss to understand why a 64-bit PDF converter add-in for Firefox 64-bit variants is not available.  WHEN?
    Thank you.

Someday. This is a question asked multiple times but the answer is always the same, there is no real benefit to moving to 64 bit Firefox, and the amount of work required to do something with no benefit makes this a low priority. Eventually it will happen, but just because it uses 64bit doesn't magically make things better.
