Does iBook support internal links in PDF eBooks?

Hello,
I am creating an eBook in Adobe InDesign. After exporting to the PDF format I create internal hyperlinks in Adobe Acrobat that allow for better usability in the digital format.
When I open the PDF eBook on the iTouch or iPad, these links do not even show up, let alone even work.
Does iBooks even support links in PDF documents?
These links work when opening in Adobe Reader and Adobe's Digital Editions eBook reader.

Voice over can be used, but voice over is not a very selective setting. When enabled, voice over changes how you navigate the iPad completely. It does work though.

Does pages 6.0 support internal links to other pages?

I want to create links inside of Pages 6 to take the reader to other locations in the document. I need to have these fully functional links exported with the document into pdf. Has anyone actually tried this in 6.0? Des it work?

Keynote is a version number ahead of Pages, because it was the first iWork app that came out. Numbers was the last and is one version behind.
Pages '09 has Bookmarks that do the internal linking.
It is Pages 5.2.2, the current version, that is brain dead.

Yes. You just can't use the YouTube widget. You need to go to the Youtube page and get the embed code and add that to the standard HTML snippet in iWeb.

Going back in iBooks after clicking link in PDF ?

In a PDF (*not* eBook!), how can I go back to where I was if I click some link? Say, that I'm browsing the ToC and accidentaly click a link going to that page: how can I quickly go back to where I was? I've seen some mentions of "Back to page xxx" but it looks as if that's only for eBooks.
(Note: using iPad 1, iOS 5.0.1 and iBooks 2.0.1)

Yes, your solution works. I changed the "Access outside webs" option from
"Custom Setup" to "Allow Adobe Reader access outside webs". (something
likes that, not exact in wording.)
But, another issue comes up:
In the web page: http://bulk.resource.org/codes.gov/
when I right-click a PDF name in the left side of this web page and select
the option "Open web page in a new Tab", then one empty new Tab comes up,
but, the PDF file is downloaded into the Firefox "Download Window", the PDF
file is NOT opened in the new Tab.
I can open the downloaded PDF file from the "Download Window" using Adobe
Reader (not inside the Firefox Browser.)
At least, I could access and get PDF files now.

Does ExportPDF support conversion of a PDF to Word in RTL languages?

Hi,
I have used my free conversion trial on a pdf document in Hebrew. The conversion conserved the entire document's text and structure, the problem is that each word was reveresed. The order of the words in the sentence was correctly converted, but the letters in the word were reversed. Could this problem be fixed? This is the only problem preventing me from using this product.

Does iBooks support JAVASCRIPT in ePub2/ePub3?

Hi,
I know that "iBooks" provides limited support of JAVASCRIPT in ePub format files (As per the document "iBookstoreAssetGuide4_8.pdf" page 27,28,etc.).
My question is as follows:
I have created a sample ePub with the following functionality:
By default, Image display shows partial portion of the original image (like thumbnail image) and displays the full and original image after clicking that image.
For the above sample, if first 2 pages contain images that works well in "iBooks" properly (i.e Original image displayed after clicking that thumbnail image) and the rest of the pages (which contains images) displays default image properly but after clicking that default image, it shows only white background without original image.
Is it iBook's Issue or JAVASCRIPT issue? (All images work properly in SAFARI and all other browsers)
Kindly advise how to solve this problem. Also advise if some other method available for the similar functionality.

iBooks isn't a browser. If your code doesn't work, do it differently.

Does iBooks support .cbr files?

Does anyone know if iBooks for Mavericks supports .cbr (comic) files? I have a bunch of comics I have saved and wanted to know if they were compatible with iBooks.

I am just joinning the Apple world and I don't know much about it yet, but, I believe there may be an app that does what you need, instead of the iBooks app.

Firefox does not support weblinks in a pdf

Het programma kan zelf een pdf maken, ook met url's er in. Kan ook printen via de pdf-progs als Cute pdf, Fox pdf als pdf printer. In alle gevallen zijn in Firefox de url's niet werkend.
Echter, in Internet Explorer van Microsoft versie 11.0.15 onder Windows 8.1 is het geen enkel probleem.
Heb lange tijd Firefox als browser gehad na oudere versies van IE, maar dit is uitermate onhandig.
Vandaar de vraag geënt op de gegeven url hierboven .... is het herkenbaar en op te lossen op korte termijn.

Er is momenteel een ticket te openen met de ontwikkelaars van PDF-ondersteuning voor Firefox om te kijken naar hoe je een functie als deze te implementeren.

Why does iBooks (Mac) keep taking my PDFs off my iPad iBooks?

I updated to OSX Maverick and I mostly happy BUT I have a MASSIVE collection of pdfs that were organized and layed out the way I wanted them in iBooks on my tablets. When I synched my tablets to update my backup, the books literaly vanished off my iPad.
I can't restore the libary for some reason, everything I do to add the backups on my mac desktop doesn't work. It's not as easy as 'drag and drop' prior to Maverick was. and the one method I get that lets me the ability to upload my folders of organized pdfs keeps getting them kicked back as 'You don't have access to the folder Temporary'.
It's the first big step BACKWARDS I've ever had with an Apple product and one that given the size of my pdf book library (over 600 organized/sorted books) is getting a bit annoying.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports (not "Diagnostic and Usage Messages") for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report — they're very long and not helpful.

Flattening / Optimizing loses all internal links

I work for a Software Service that converts PDFs to SWFs for view on Flipbook software on desktop/mobile devices.
We recommend optimizing the PDF, with the transparency option on (which just uses Flattener settings) because sometimes tranparencies can convert in less that desireable ways.

We've found that the flattening of transparencies causes any internal links to break. The link boxes remain, but their action no longer takes you to the correct target page, no action is taken at all. External/Website links are not affected and work fine.
I've attached 2 PDFs. The first "with internal links.pdf" is before optimizing, and has 2 internal links on the cover page (middle and bottom). There is also an external link on the top banner title.

The second file is "with internal links - Optimized Internal links broken.pdf" . Although the external link on top is maintained and works fine, the middle and bottom internal links no longer work.

I am experiencing the same issue with Adobe Acrobat XI. If you examine the link details before and after the optimization it appears that the optimize process is losing the goto action details.

You can upload a PDF-file to your iPad via your computer using iTunes and you can download a PDF-file from a website and open this in iBooks.
You cant edit the PDF inside iBooks.

How do I create internal links in a PDF eBook?

Hi there, any help with this is GREATLY appreciated. I have the latest version of Adobe, but when I try to create internal links, there doesn't seem to be any way to do it. Doing a Net search I saw that in previous versions of Adobe, that is, 6, there WAS the ability to create internal links (Tools => Advanced Editing => Link Tool). Now there does NOT seem to be the same facility, which is incredibly frustrating, like Adobe went backwards.
I am creating PDF's from Word, and by internal links I *don't* mean hyperlinks - those are created automatically - but a link in the Index, for eg, so a person can click on a Chapter heading on page 4, for eg and be taken immediately to page 50, for eg.
Going slowly nuts here as there seems to be NO readily-available advice as to how to do this.

Ok, "Adobe" is the company.
The application is?
Adobe Reader - if yes, then tools such as the Link tool are not available.
Acrobat (Standard/Pro) - if yes, then the Link tool is available.
If using Acrobat X then click "Tools" (at the right) > expand the "Content" panel > select "Link"
If using Acrobat 9 or earlier then use Tools > Advanced Editing > Link tool.
