Does iCloud overcome the PC format ipad vs Mac format ipad restrictions

I have my itunes account on a windows laptop and before iCloud I used to sync with the laptop.   If I now buy a mac laptop and install  itunes will I be able to sync it  with my songs on iCloud?  If I were to buy a second ipad for my wife could I also just sync it to my existing icloud account?
I guessI'm asking does iCloud differentiate bewtteen Windows and Mac products?

iCloud is a sync service for calendars contacts et al, it has nothing to do with iTunes, anything stored in the cloud as part of iTunes match doesn't use your iCloud storage.
Any music you have stored in iTunes match will have been re-encoded to AAC, providing you don't delete the music in your iTunes library on your computer they won't be changed to AAC, but if you download them from iTunes match to another mac/PC/iPhone/iPad/iPod, they will be downloaded as AAC.

    How to fix file when it says, "Cannot open file " ". Adobe Indesign does not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file may be missing, or file may be open in another application." It worked one second, I saved and closed the file, then tried to reopen and now it won't work. I am using Adobe InDesign CS5. It is the only version on my comp. I have tried opening on another comp & copying the file – same error comes up. PLEASE HELP

    First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).
    You can find it here:
    [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File
    If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
    In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
    CS7 = CC v9
    CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1

  • Datetime value does not match the specified format

    Hi All,
    I am writing this function for a template
    case when "Employment Events (Current)"."Most Recent Hire Date" is NULL then NULL else CAST(TIMESTAMPDIFF(SQL_TSI_YEAR,cast(cast("Employment Events (Current)"."Most Recent Hire Date" as char)as timestamp),Cast(Cast(@{EndDate}{CAST('2011-01-01' AS DATE)} AS CHAR) AS TIMESTAMP)) AS CHAR)||' year(s) ' end
    but when it runs, it throws me this error
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 46046] Datetime value 2011-01-01 does not match the specified format. (HY000)
    What am I doing wrong? "Employment Events (Current)"."Most Recent Hire Date" is set to max - aggregation in the rpd.

    I found the solution as well.
    The ODBC driver on the Windows server was old (Version 6). I upgraded that to SQL Server Native Client 11.0 and everything works fine.

  • How does interfaces overcome the problem of single inheritance?

    1) How does interfaces overcome the problem of single inheritance? Can anyone give an example of how it works?
    2) In a Java book, I read: "Interfaces are implemented and used throughout the Java class library when behavior is expected to be implemented by a number of disparate classes."
    Why does different classes require to implement a Java class library?
    Can anyone please enlighten? Thanks.

    2) In a Java book, I read: "Interfaces are implemented and used throughout the Java class library when behavior is expected to be implemented by a number of disparate classes."
    Hi, let me try to explain this.
    Say you have a left hand drive BMW and a right hand drive AUDI. typeOfDrive is a property for these two cars. If i am trying to make this property abstract, i will prefer to put this property in an Interface called Car. My classes BmwCar and AudiCar implement the Car Interface; by which they can use the property typeOfDrive.
    So, the behaviour 'typeOfDrive'; when expected to be implemented by Disparate entities BmwCar and AudiCar, we try to abstract that property to a common Interface called Car.
    interface Car {
    String typeOfDrive;
    String getTypeOfDrive();
    class BmwCar implements Car {
    String getTypeOfDrive() {
       return typeOfDrive;
    void setTypeOfDrive(String tod) {
    this.typeOfDrive = tod;
    class AudiCar implements Car {
    String getTypeOfDrive() {
       return typeOfDrive;
    void setTypeOfDrive(String tod) {
    this.typeOfDrive = tod;
    }Now, when you create instance of your disparate classes, you will define the declared property 'typeOfDrive', as 'Left Hand Drive' for BmwCar and 'Right Hand Drive' for AudiCar.
    So, "Interfaces are implemented and used throughout the Java class library when behavior is expected to be implemented by a number of disparate classes."
    You can refer to many web wikis for better examples and explanations.

  • Is there a way to Move files to the iCloud thus freeing up disk space on my Mac? Or does iCloud only sync (replicate) files between my Mac and the cloud?

    Is there a way to Move files to the iCloud thus freeing up disk space on my Mac? Or does iCloud only sync (replicate) files between my Mac and the cloud? I want to free up disk space on my Mac and assumed that the icloud would be a good way to do this, but having 'moved' 70Gb of files to the iCloud drive (I've upgraded to 200Gb storage) my Mac is still nearly full and I've realised that it seems to just Sync files just like dropbox.

    So, the big question is did the Apple guys confirm that this is how the new iCloud drive should be working?  I'm guessing, from your response, that this is indeed the case.  Are they going to fix this anytime soon?  I thought that this was a new function of the iCloud drive in Yosemite.
    I just want an online storage facility to back up my photo & music collections.  I did look at Dropbox as they have a good deal going with their Dropbox Pro, however this is still just a sync service where the Master files reside on your local disk drive - although I have read that there may be a way to work around this.  Still not ideal.

    My Observations: Task Actual Start Date is a date column in SQL Server 2008, the column imported in obiee Physcial layer as Varchar(10). So i converted the column as Date in Physical layer.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Pradeep

    Hi Pradeep,
        One or more rows in 'Task Actual Start Date' does not have date time format which is why you will be getting this error. You may have to fix this at data level to get rid off this error.
    To test, apply a filter to see 5-10 rows of data, it should work fine as you would have excluded that data.
    Pls mark if correct/helpful.

  • Yesterday i made some purchases in itunestore. the download went well. till the synch of itunes with ipod. some of the downloaded music did noch synchronize. the message was: the ipod does not support the file format (mp4). strange, right?

    Yesterday 20 november I have made some purchases in Ittunestore. The download went well. Till the synch of itunes with ipod. Some of the downloaded music did noch synchronize. The message was: the ipod does not support the file format (mp4). Strange, right? All the rest of downloaded music items has been synchronised without any problems. What may be the problem?

    For music files purchased via the iTunes Store, Apple has used the following file extensions -
    .m4a unprotected AAC format music files
    .m4p protected AAC format music files
    .m4b protected Audio Books
    .m4r unprotected ringtones in AAC format
    As you can see Apple have never used .mp4 for music files via the iTunes Store.
    For videos Apple use .m4v and these are in H.264 format.
    You could try changing the file extension to .m4a, first then see if it plays on your computer and then try re-synching it.

    No it does not. The 2 are separate.

  • Does Lion support the old microsoft word for MAC files?

    Does Lion support the old microsoft word for MAC  files? I have heard that if i down load  Lion then my Word files for Mac will not function or work. Is this true?? I don't want to download Lion if this happens.

    The file type does not matter, the program you use to open the file does.
    You need a newer version of word (or a third party program).
    You can use openoffice as well.

  • Does iCloud replace the music content in a iPad?

    Does using icloud reduce the amount of music stored in my iPad?

    Hi
    I've just removed my synced music (17GB) from my iPad in the belief that I would be able to see it through iTunes match and play and download what I want when I want, therefore freeing up much needed space.
    It's all still in my library on my PC but doesn't appear in iTunes yet on my iPad? Does it take a while to upload/ be visible to the iPad?
    Presume I can resync music back on the ipad but sort of defeats the object?

  • HT4101 When does Apple support the SDXC format?

    I just bought the iPad 3 and the camera connection kit. However, it doesn't support the SDXC format. I read a note about this from august 24, 2010, alomost 2 years in the past. And since then...

    i had 64gb sdxc. CCK didn't recognized it.
    so i run CMD in windows 7
    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
    SELECT DISK 2(in my case)
    CLEAN
    CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=32000 OFFSET=16384(dont know why, such offset was earlier)
    LIST PARTITION
    SELECT PARTITION 1(in my case)
    FORMAT FS=FAT32 QUICK
    EXIT
    now i have 32 gb SDXC instead of 64g but it's compatible with my Camera Connection Kit.
    if you have sdxc card 32g or less, i think this might help.

  • How does one change the date format for PlayMemories Home folders?

    I am using PlayMemories Home Version 2.0.00.11271 and have many folders within it which contain only photographs imported from my Sony DSC-H9.  Unfortunately, PlayMemories Home insists upon dating all folders in a month/day/year manner; and this makes little sense if one wishes to have the folders listed in logical chronological order.  How can I change the date format to year/month/day?  Changing the name of each folder, one by one, will take a very long time!  Your helpful advice in this matter will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you. System information:
    Operating system: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    Service pack : Service Pack 3
    Memory: 1.5 GB

    I too thought that the folder naming format was obviously wrong and couldn't find a way to change it. I do agree that placing photos in folders according to when they were taken is a great idea. I had been considering writing some software to do just that. After discovering that PlayMemories does it, I had it re-import all my photos. Then I wrote a small Perl script to rename all of the folders into year-month-day format. Included here is the Perl script. It only acts on a single folder - use it on the root folder where all the PlayMemories folders are. It will rename all folders currently in a month-day-year format. I used it without problems but of course there is no guarentee that it is error free. This should work with any common version of Perl. Tom # There should be one command line argument: the directory to act upon
