Does Satellite Pro C850-1EQ support Sata III?

I've just picked up a new Satellite Pro C850-1EQ laptop, and am looking to replace the slow 5400rpm drive with an SSD.
I can't find the SATA specifications of this machine anywhere - does it support Sata III (6Gb/sec)?
Thanks,
Gareth

Hi
As far as I know it supports the SATA II (3Gb/s)
But you could install some software diagnostic tools like *SiSoft SANDRA*
This would provide all details about the hardware configuration.
Could you confirm that its SATA II?

  • Win 8.1 activation issues on Satellite Pro C850-1EQ after upgrade

    Hello everybody!
I face a problem after upgrading my TOSHIBA SATELLITE PRO C850-1EQ preinstalled windows version 8 to 8.1.
After installation windows demands the product key in order to activate windows 8.1, but I haven't this activation key.
I called Microsoft (Greece) but couldn't help me and told me to call Toshiba (Greece).
The man from Toshiba's technical support told me to call back to Microsoft!
Also, he told me to check here (https://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8_1-upgrade-stepbystep/) before I start the process. Step No. 7 says "Remember your Windows password. You may need to enter it after updating."
Now I returned back to Win 8.
Is there a way to learn my activation key before the installation of w8.1?
I tried to find that using various tools but no one finded the key.
Plus, after the installation of 8.1, a message says:
    +Error code: 0xC004C003+
+The activation server determined the specified product key has been blocked+
I trust Toshiba and I want to use the latest version of w8.1.
I would be greatful if someone technician from Toshiba could help me with this issue.
    John (from Greece)

    Hi
Yes, the preinstalled *gets automatically activated* when I restore or refresh my pc and I do not need the activation key.
When I upgrade to windows 8.1 it asks me the activation key in order to activate the new version.
Before the upgrade, yes, I updated win 8 and the drivers too. I always keep my pc updated.
    What do you mean:
+Try this: create the Toshiba Recovery DVDs (or USB flash memory stick). Use the Recovery medium in order to recover the notebook back to factory settings. Update the Windows 8 to latest state and then perform the upgrade to Win 8.1+
Windows 8 is in a hidden particion in my PC, so I don't need to create recovery disk.
Or do you mean anything alse?
    Thank you for your reply

  • Does the Mac Pro Support SATA III?

Hi everyone, I've been wondering for a long time: Does the late 2012 12-Core Mac Pro support SATA III 6Gb connection? If not, is there any way of making it SATA III?

Most commercially-available rotating drives cannot possibly source data off the platters at higher than a momentary bursts of up to 125MBytes/sec, or about 1.0Gbits/sec. That means SATA-I speed is not a bottleneck.
A few drives are faster, and some SSD drives are faster.
Many drives available today are capable of transfers at up to 6Gbits/sec.They will operate correctly at the Mac Pro's 3Gbits sec Bus speed. But since they cannot produce data from the drive platters at those speeds, you get at most a tiny, momentary burst at that speed.
6Gbits/sec is far higher than other bottlenecks in the drive. There is no point in paying extra for this spec, as the drive cannot achieve it steady-state, and it provides no measurable advantage. I refer to such practices as "specsmanship". Feel free to read "cr@p".

  • Does the Mac Pro v1.1 support SATA II 6Gb/s?

Does the Mac Pro (late_2006) support SATA II 6Gb/s internal hard drives?

Of course not, not in the sense that 6G existed but you still can use any SATA II/III specification drive.
So yes they are supported in that sense.
Only limit is if you use current SSD you still get great IOPS and such just not the sustained writes.
NO Mac Pro actually has an SATA III port. And it is more about features and specs and all drives have to be backward compatible or drive vendors would be foolish and go out of business (not everyone can or wants or needs to upgrade their motherboard).
You can add PCIe SATA 6G such as CalDigit and others.

Please see the "HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide" for the technical specification of your computer. It appears that the computer supports SATA, but no exact information is given. The is most likely SATA version based on an AMD A60M chipset would be SATA3.

  • ProBook 6465b - does it support SATA III?

    Hi,
I have ProBook with A6-3410MX on AMD A60M FCH, which should has only 6Gbps SATA. But my friend has the same ProBook with A4 on the same chipset, and he's bought Crucial m4 SSD and benchmarks results show that it is only SATA II (3Gbps). Can anybody confirm that 6465b support or not 6Gbps SATA?

    Hi pepe,
that's the point - it should support but results from AS SSD on my friend's 6465b shows that it not support SATA III. And I try to discover why. Is it hardware (HP do not include SATA III) or some software problems. Unfortunatelly, i don't have any SATA III SSD or HDD to check my notebook.

Have a look at the write speed. My SATA II Corsair has the same write speed like the SATA III M4 256GB and 512GB. Reading is just 415MB/s (my has approx 275MB/s) for all of them. I would expect a better read/write performance from a SATA III SSD..

  • Does DV6-6136tx support SATA III?

I just bought this DV6-6136tx a week ago and I'm wondering if i can use SATA III SSD on it.
The chipset is HM65 which should be able to support SATA III.
I want to confirm this before I upgrade my harddrive to SSD.

    Thank Kamat & Pepe.
I heard that there is a difference between the cable for SATA II and SATA III.
Do you know the connector within this laptop is installed for SATA III or only for SATAII as Kamat said?
And by the way, are you guys from HP?
The SATA III connectors may have more pins than SATA II but because SATA III is compatible with SATA II the connectors look like the same. I believe that SATA III connectors in Sandy Bridge laptops are installed for a hard drive and for an optical drive. I mean 2 different cables from 2 SATA III ports on the motherboard..
Yes, Kamat works for HP, but I don't..

  • Macbook Pro 2011 do not support SATA III?

Macbook Pro 2011 do not support SATA III?

Yes, they do, sort of! It's funny because I was about to complain about my THIRD 2011 MacBook Pro and while SATA III works fine in the main hard drive bay, it will not let me put a second SSD into the optical drive bay for a RAID 0 solution. This affects all 15" and 17" MBP's, but strangely enough, it works just fine on the 2011 13" MBP's. GRRR! This is so infuriating.

  • Does dv6-6153cl support SATA III HDDs?

I'm having trouble with my laptop and I think I've narrowed the problem down to the HDD. I want to replace it, and upgrade it, but I'm not sure what HDDs I can use.
I'd like to know if I can install a SATA III HDD into my dv6-6153cl laptop. From what I can tell it currently has a SATA II HDD installed. Can I upgrade to SATA III or am I stuck with SATA II?
    This question was solved.

Get the SATA-III. Even if the motherboard would only support SATA-II (not true in your case) you can use SATA-III drives. SATA is fully backward compatible. But, again, your motherboard has the HM65 chipset which supports SATA-III. A good rule of thumb is if it has USB 3.0 it also has SATA-III. Not 100% true but awfully close to always true.

  • Satellite Pro C850 wont work after Bios update

my satellite pro c850 cd wont work after bios update from toshiba.
    what do i do?

Saying: dont work you mean it does not power up or what do you mean exactly?
Did you flash the BIOS properly?
Possibly something went wrong during the update and this means that ROM module isnt flashed properly
In most cases a special BIOS crisis disk would be needed to get it working
Not quite sure if you can get it fixed by your own

  • Does anyone has the t410 with sata III hdd inside?

    Hello,
I am considering about replacing standard hdd by ssd drive and I am thinking is it sense to put SATA III drive inside.
Does anyone have this configuration and could talk about performance?
    regards

I used a OCZ Agility 3 (Sata III) on the T410 previously then I moved to SSD to a W520 (support Sata III)... Both laptop boots fast and open applications at an amazing speed.... Not sure how to explain my experience though ...
I am not sure how to measure the performance cause I didn't do any benchmarking during that time ... but all I can say is .... SSDs are amazing ... hahaha
    *Non Lenovo employee*
I have a Y2P (i5) ... Feel free to ping me if you want me to test some applications with your Y2P if you have the same model. I don't mind keep doing recovery on it if needed .... =)

  • Does Satellite Pro A100-828 has a 64bit memory interface on X1600 GPU?

    Hi,
Does Satellite Pro A100-828 has a 64bit memory interface on X1600 GPU? Please help as I only get 2500 marks on 3dMark05 on a Satellite Pro A100-828. The GPU is X1600 with 128MB dedicated memory + 384MB Hypermemory. This card should do around 3500 marks.
    Thanks,
    Shahid

As far as I know, all cards with ATI Hypermemory or Nvidia Turbocache have 64bit memory interfaces.
I am unable to gather information on X1600 with 128bit memory width but my A100-828 can run Far Cry on full settings at full resolution. I can also play Oblivion at 'high' settings. Although 3dmark scores are low.
I have also seen a good increase in 3dmark scores by using an Omega 3.8.330 drivers.
