  • After update to OS X 10.7.5 on my Mac Pro (2009) USB ports don't work at all after wake up from sleep mode; with 10.7.4 there was (nearly) any problem.

    hello,
after update to OS X 10.7.5 on my Mac Pro (2009) USB ports don't work at all after wake up from sleep mode; with 10.7.4 there was (nearly) any problem.
the used ports appear to be "killed"; the unused USB ports seem to work, but the Mac works in slow-motion.
The only "solution" is to restart my Mac.
    - SMC-reset, PRAM-reset or repairing user rights had no positive effect; what is the solution - a bug-fix-update???

I have a mac mini (A1283) with OS 10.7.4. Upon upgrading to 10.7.5 it did not start up again. Instead, the light was on and the hard drive did not start up. The light on the connected USB mouse was not lit.
    My solution:
    Cold start with Command-v pressed.
This should start Verbose mode (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492 ).
What happened on my mac mini was that the grey startup screen with the Apple logo appeared for a long while before the login screen came.
Maybe Cmd-v set open firmware params and fixed some corruption.
Anyway: my mac mini works again.

  • Does the Mac Pro v1.1 support SATA II 6Gb/s?

Does the Mac Pro (late_2006) support SATA II 6Gb/s internal hard drives?

Of course not, not in the sense that 6G existed but you still can use any SATA II/III specification drive.
So yes they are supported in that sense.
Only limit is if you use current SSD you still get great IOPS and such just not the sustained writes.
NO Mac Pro actually has an SATA III port. And it is more about features and specs and all drives have to be backward compatible or drive vendors would be foolish and go out of business (not everyone can or wants or needs to upgrade their motherboard).
You can add PCIe SATA 6G such as CalDigit and others.

  • Does the Macbook Pro have a program to run Windows? If not, what is the best program to do so?

Does the Macbook Pro have a program to run Windows built in? If not, what is the best program to do so. Purchasing a new Mac.

No. The Mac does not have anything to run Windows
You must install either virtualizrion software or use BootCamp to create a partition for Windows. Once you have done that then you must install Windows.

  • Does the macbook pro have a dvd player?

Does the macbook pro have a built-in dvd player?

This is the only new MBP you can purchase with an integral DVD drive at this time:

A retina MBP will require an external DVD drive.
    Ciao.

  • What does the Mac Pro do? and who uses it?

Hey guys, I want to know What does the Mac Pro does and which type of people use it.

To add a slightly less technical perspective, I bought a new Mac Pro because it fits my preferred working style rather than because I need its specific computing power (And also because my 2008 MP crapped out and I got tired of fixing it).
When my old Mac Pro died, I ran out and bought a Macbook Pro Retina and used it as my desktop while waiting for the new cylinder MP. The MBPr was stunning and performed like a champ. However, I was reluctant to use it as a laptop (i.e., travel with it) since it was my sole platform for client work and I didn't want to jeopardize my ability to work/deliver should something nasty happen on the road.
So maybe I'm a bit old fashioned, but I like to have a desktop mac for my primary workstation (I'm a graphic designer and photographer) and a laptop for the road. I use a high-end, wide spectrum monitor for color critical work, so while it's true that an iMac would have the power to run the stuff I need, I prefer to have options with my monitor.
Again, just another perspective that might factor into a purchase decision. How do you like to work and what works best for your situation? It isn't always mandatory to have the fastest and latest (unless, as in my case, it falls into your established criteria/working style).

  • Does the macbook pro have the capacity to print direct to blank cd?

does the macbook pro have the capacity to print directly to blank cd?  If not- can you suggest an add-on product that will work with the mac pro?

Unless you have a printer that can feed and print on a physical CD then you cannot. This isn't a function of the computer. Printers can usually print onto labels of any sort, but not directly onto the disc itself.

  • Does the Mac Mini have a camera?

Thinking about getting a Mac Mini because it is very affordable, and I hate my PC, does the Mac Mini have a camera for facetime?

I think cameras are in the displays.  The Mini is the "scrunched" version of the tower.

  • Does the macbook pro have a 'dv terminal'?

I have macbook pro and panasonic dv video camera. Panasonic manual says I can use a dv interface cable to connect the camera to the computer if the computer has a dv terminal. Does the mac have a dv terminal? is it one of the firewire ports?
    many thanks

    Hi nandi,
always learning something new here: I have never heard the term 'dv terminal' but a quick goodgle search showed that this is another name for a 4-pin FireWire port.
So since the MacBook Pro has two FireWire ports the answer is YES.
But be aware that the Firewire ports on the MacBook Pro are full-sized ports either 6-pins for Firewire400 or 9-pins for Firewire800.
So the usual 4pins connector for Camcorder does not fit.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Does the mac pro back up to i cloud automatically

does the mac book pro back up automatically to the i cloud?

iCloud is not a backup system for your Mac, so the answer is no, not automatically and not manually. Not at all is the best description. Time Machine is the Mac backup system and you already have it.
