Don't see the Macbook Pro Retina display 15 inch 2.6 Ghz i7 model

Macbook Pro Retina display 15 inch 2.6 Ghz i7 model - what happened to this model ? just brought this computer 4 months back and suddently this model disappeared? also the price on this one is equivalent to another higher model with 2.7 Ghz and 16 GB memory ?

Apple removed some Retina MacBooks Pro and started selling other ones with slightly better hardware last week. If you have this MacBook, you can continue using it because, although Apple has upgraded the hardware, changes aren't big compared to your MacBook Pro model

Well there are two or three causes of eyestrain with displays different people seem to have.
    1: Small type/UI elements
    2: Glossy screens
    3: Flicker rate
    1:
The higher pixel rate combined with the display set at the higher resolution is going to cause UI and type to be smaller and harder to see. In fact it's advised to set OS X to a lower resolouton so it upscales better to match the pixel of the higher display.
Reports coming in say watching HD 1920 x 1080 trailers on the anti-glare 17" is best as the pixel content matches the display almost fullscreen, where on the MBP-R it's upscaled and thus looks blurry.
HD content makers are NOT going to change all their video cameras to support 2880 x 1800 full screen, so in order to get a clearer image playing HD 1080 content, one will have to do so in a smaller window.
    2:
The new MBP-R dispalys are 75% less glossy, but not 100% less glossy like the anti-glare models so this can still cause some people problems. This can be lowered to under 1%, however I'm suspecting to do so would be considered giving up a military advantage to China where Apple gets it products made.
    3:
I don't know about the flicker rate if it's better or not on the MBP-R's than the previous screens.

  • Is the Macbook Pro Retina display better than the LED display on the new iMac that is coming out?

I am thinking of either buying the Macbook Pro retina display (15") or waiting for the iMac 27" display. I am mainly focusing on the display, so what is better?

  • Does the macbook pro retina 15 inch comes with cd/dvd drive?

    Hey
Does the macbook pro retina 15 inch comes with cd/dvd drive?
    thanks

The MacBook Pro with Retina display doesn't come with a CD/DVD drive. Instead, you have to buy the Apple USB SuperDrive or any external optical drive, or you can use Remote Disc if you have another Mac > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5287

I'm about to buy the MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch in USA. I will be using predominantly in Europe. What accessories should I be buying?

We can't discuss what Apple is going to do or new products, but it does make a lot of sense if your gut feelings tell you to buy now.
I got a really bad feeling and ran out and got the last of the 17" MBP's with anti-glare and Snow Leopard.
Turned out I was right in listening to my gut, the abortion of OS X Lion came out killed my 15", Cupertino HQ was pwned by Flashback and Apple pulled the 17" MBP completely off the market.
Apple has purposely put the Retinas front and center in their stores, so the majority of the know-nothings buy those. If they thought a bit about buying a machine with future options in upgrade options they would, like you, choose the non-Retina.
Really if you want choice in hardware, your going to have to switch to a PC. As you can pretty much get anything you need on that platform. Apple's hardware choices have been sealing up and their OS X is turning into iOS, soon it's going to be nothing more than a dumbed down iPad.
Windows 8 Pro can be downgraded to Window 7 even, and since Win 7 is supported until 2020, you should be set for quite a few more years. The choice of software is vast on Windows and it's sort of the next eveolutionary step up actually.

  • Photos on sites are blurry on the Macbook Pro Retina Display?

I just got a Macbook Pro Retina Display and while browsing I noticed that logos and photos on sites looked blurry. this is something that really bothers me in the fact that I'm a design and photography student.. i dont know if i should return it and get the old macbook pro or what...

Give the world time. Resolutions above 2560x1600 are only meant for the 30" cinema display I am using right now, and the rest of the world does not have resolution suited for displays above 200ppi below 30". But, you are a photographer, so am I, and the Retina Display is beautiful at high res content including DSLRs and film scans.

  • Ps3/Xbox connect to the macbook pro retina display

is it possible to connect a PS3/XBox to the new 2012 macbook pro with retina display?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
It's not possible. The only Macs that allow you to do it are the Late 2009 and Mid 2010 27-inch iMacs, and you need a special adapter to connect your PlayStation to these iMacs. As the MacBook Pro doesn't support Target Display mode, you can't use it as a display for the PlayStation

i recently bought the macbook pro 15 inch retina display early 2013? should I return it and get the late 2013 model?

    You have 14 days exchange
New retina has which yours doesn't -
    802ac wifi, very very fast
    Haswell cool running processor
    Longer batt life
    Lightweight form factor
    Faster  PCIe SSD
Overall a better machine to have yes
Your choice is subjective to your needs however

  • Autocad on the MacBook Pro retina display

If I download windows on the MacBook Pro with retina display does autocad have the same features as if it was the real windows?

If you install Windows by using Boot Camp Assistant to partition the drive IT IS REAL WINDOWS and works the same as any other Windows install.

  • Calibrate the MacBook Pro Retina display

What spyder and what software would you suggest to calibrate the retina display of the new MacBook Pros?
    Thanks a lot!
    M.

I use the Spyder4Pro at home and one at my office - the puck itself is exactly the same as the Elite, but the software is slightly more limited (Elite has more features for multi-display averaging, color, backlight uniformity & user-configurable whitepoint values. Can also be upgraded to Elite software at a cost, if necessary). It's a good fit as long as you're not needing to constantly calibrate multiple displays. Perfect for home and small biz situations with a few computers/monitors max, and contains all standard gamma/whitepoints out the box.
As far as the MBPR goes, I gotta be honest here - I wasn't particularly pleased with the Spyder4's results for the Retina in my case. The rest of my displays look fine across the board, but the Retina (even after successive recalibration under different light conditions/viewing angles) looks just too yellow (with slight green cast) under the standard 2.2 Gamma/D65K whitepoint settings. I ended up simply using the default color profile (Color LCD) it shipped with, and while it's slightly on the cool side (blue cast), the whites/greys/blacks are much closer to that of my grey card when compared to the Spyder's yellowish profiles. Printed images (also profiled) are a closer match to default profile as well, though warmer just not to the extreme the Spyder4 was pushing. Again, this is simply my experience with it, I'd still recommend it as a calibration solution for most things, but I'd pass if you're going to use it to only calibrate the Retina. YMMV.
Hope this helps, even if just a little.

  • Will an Infra-Red Adapter work with a macbook pro retina display so I can use the apple TV remote for presentations?

I have always used the apple TV remote for my presentations.  I bought a retina display last year for the betterment of my presentations and now I have to stand near my computer and hit a button to change my slides where as before I used my remote.  Will a infra-red adapter work with the apple TV remote in the macbook pro retina display?  Love my computer, but very disappointed not to have a remote for presentations that does not need the internet.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes, I used that and it works great if you have wireless connection.  Im looking for  a remote that worked like the apple TV remote.  My questions is, "Is there a USB infra-red remote that works with mac.  I have found this one: Keyspan EZ1 easy presenter.  It claims with works with PC and Mac and the reviews are good.  Does anyone know anything about it or if it works with retina display macs?

  • Macbook Pro Retina Display MAXIMUM temperature?

What is the MAXIMUM CPU and GPU ( each individually ) temperature for the Macbook Pro Retina Display before it shuts down as a result of overheating?, an exact number if you would know.
And what is another app that can control the fans speed other than SMC FanControl and Speed Fan? ( One that ACTUALLY makes the computer obey the RMP you adjust ).
And finally, does Mountain Lion 10.8.1 consume more power and heat it more than other OS's ?
I know all about how the Mac itself knows how to manage the fans and all that, I just need the answers to those questions.
    Thanks

    JoeyR wrote:
I'm guessing he meant "RPM" and made a typo...
Perhaps; we'll have to wait and see.
But since his concern appears to be overheating (as is mine), I don't think he wants to slow the fans down.
I have found that if an older Mac is migrated to a newer Mac, the preference file may need to be either hacked or deleted and recreated to get the fan speed settings to behave properly. Perhaps that's what's going on.

  • Glitch at shutdown? Macbook pro retina display late 2013 model

    Hi,
I have the late 2013 model of the macbook pro retina display. Since the past few weeks, I've been noticing a glitch at shutdown. This started to happen after my macbook asked me for my keychain password. How can I fix this glitch?
Before the whole keychain password: My mac would take a good 30 seconds to turn off properly. There would be a grey screen for a good 30 minutes.
After the whole keychain password: My mac just shuts off in a second literally but the grey screen doesnt appear. These a glitch. You can see the dock trying to go down at shutdown but because of the glitch it just stays there.
How can I fix this? Should I get it checked out?

Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service. Ask for the glitch specialist.
