Double-click not working on trackpad after Mavericks installation

After doing a fresh installation of OS X Mavericks and zapping PRAM, I noticed that I'm unable to double-click using my trackpad (this is true throughout all applications, not just the Finder).  Can anyone advise me on how to remedy this?
My system is a Late 2002 MacBook Pro Retina.
Thanks,
Nicholas

You can type Command-Shift-G and type in ~/Library/Preferences
I had some challenges deleting everything here while logged in, so you'll have to do this from another Admin account.
I suggest just doing a clean install if you have the time.  That solved all my problems and reduced my boot time as well.

  • Why double click not working ?

if the system have wizip/winrar installed...does it block to run executable jar whence they are doble-clicked ?
because when i doble-click on the executable jar file....it opens up in the winrar...it displays all the directory structure in the jar file.....but it never executes.
    i have a jar in c:\
and i can run this way....
    C:\>java -jar psae.jar Philip
    Hello World Philip
why double click not working ?

This is because winzip or winrar has taken over the
Windows association with files of type .jar.
    Assuming XP.YES.....its windows XP.
Click on the tools menu in any explorer window,
select "folder options" and choose the "file type"
tab. i tried that also earlier....anyway, here again one more time
    please look at
    http://img107.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nojar7ah.jpg
There is NO .JAR file association i find in that list.
you need to change the associaton of 'jar' to
    "Opens with Java"

How the soft tap double click again? I looked into the system preferences in trackpad, but theres no option for double clicking. Thank you.

  • IOS 7.1 Upgrade - home button double click not working most of the time

    Hi,
Not sure, if anyone else had encountered this issue after upgrading to iOS7.1.
I am using iPhone5S 32 GB and it was working fine with home button (double click, mostly used to see & close other applications running in background) till I upgraded to iOS7.1. After iOS7.1 upgrade, most of the time, I am unable to see running applications. After trying for 4-5 times, I managed to see running application
Is there any fix or workaround for this issue?

Settings > General > Accessibility > Home-Click Speed - Change from Default to Slow

  • Events will not open with double click/double click not working.

Have just upgraded to iPhoto'11 and finding it a pain to use after previous iPhoto.  Events will not open with double click (even though highlighted in yellow) and photos will not open with double click or videos play.  How can we fix this please?

That sounds very like an issue with your mouse/trackpad and not iPhoto. Go to your SystemPreferences and chck the speed you've set for double clicking

  • Layer double-click not working in Vista

I am doing a Total Training class on CS4 PhotoShop. In the section on Learning about Layers I have opened two jpg files.
I double-clicked on the Background Layer of the Statue jpg and changed the name to Statue. All worked okay.
I then selected the unwanted Background area and deleted it.
I then moved the Clouds jpg which created a new Layer. When I double-clicked to change the Layer name to Clouds, the Layer box did not open but the Layer Style box opened.
I was only able to change the name of the Layer via the Layer Properties box.
    Any thoughts???
    Thank you,
    Sherry

Dah ... tho I thought I tried it all and the click on the box was all that was necessary. I'll give it a go tomorrow!
Thanks so much, I can always count on the Forum :o)

  • Why does double-click not work for files of Firefox type under Windows 7 (Firefox 15.0.1)?

If in the Windows Explorer of Windows 7 I double-click the name of a file that is mentioned as being a Firefox file by its file type symbol, it should be launched. But this doesn't happen. If I select "Open with" > Firefox" in the file's context menu, nothing happens. But if I select another browser, the file will be launched.

    Hi,
You can try to right-click a file > '''Open with''' > '''Choose default program''' > '''Browse''' (disregard any existing entry) and select Firefox, and also enable (tick) '''Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'''.

  • Double click not working on any folders, photos or anything

When I double (left) click on any folder on my desktop, on on a photo in iphoto, I thought it was supposed to open it but it doesn't do anything. I've already tried to go into Preferences, mouse and seen if there's a way to fix it there, but I don't see how. Thanks for your help.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions..
I've already tried to go into Preferences, mouse
Look again and be sure the "Double-Click Speed" isn't set too fast.

  • HT201198 double click not working..... why???????

I want to know how I can make my folders and documents open when I double click them, because I have managed to turn this off and don't know how to re-activate it. At the momendt I'm stuck with right clicking then selecting open, very tedious!!! help me

Well then, welcome to the forums.
Also look at the top level Apple Support Communities for a listing of the various categories to choose the appropriate one.  So for questions about how to do things in your particular OS (in your case Lion according to your profile) you could choose the Lion community from the index and it would take you to this link.  There's also hardware specific sections, i.e, for your specific kind of machine.  And so on.

  • Adobe Bridge (CS2) not working. Even after new installation

    Hello,
The Problem was, that Adobe Bridge (CS2 on Windows XP) suddenly stopped the work. After several days of trying to get this program to run again, i deinstalled and installed Photoshop with all it´s programms.
But Bridge still is not working anymore. I can visit some folders once or twice, but after 2 tries, it stopps and give no reaction.
What is wrong with Photoshop ?
    regards

You need to reset Bridge preferences by holding
Ctrl+Alt+Shift while starting the program from the icon. You should get a dialog offering three choices select all of them.
This does not happen with a re-install of the program.
If you don't get the dialog box, keep trying till you do.

  • Right-click not working on trackpad

Hello! Yesterday, my Macbook didn't start up properly after falling asleep (not sure why), so I manually shut it off. After it restarted, I noticed that the two-fingered right click wasn't working properly. I can still scroll with two fingers, and I can right-click if I use a mouse. But the trackpad two-fingered click doesn't work.
I've restarted my computer twice, and I've tried turning the two-fingered right click setting on and off in System Preferences. Do you have any advice or suggestions? Thanks!

    Hi Cliff,
I'd love to help you out and wanted to upload snapshots of my preferences, but they're in German unfortunately and hence I realised it probably wouldn't help that much.
Anyway, I'm not familiar with boot camp, but these are my settings: In Mission Control i set all Mssion Control, programme windows, view desk and view dashboard to "-" (hope the labelling is somewhat accurate, I'm really not sure about the German-English conversion); and under Trackpad i set secondary click to "click or tap with two fingers". Note, I couldn't have "move with three fingers" activated, too, just as intelligent zoom - "double tip with two fingers".
I reckon this is total amateur talk I'm producing here, it's just what I figured out works for myself If you need more information, I'd be happy to help!
    Best wishes,
    Lara

  • 3 finger swipe does not work in finder after mavericks upgrade

I used to navigate in finder by swiping with 3 fingers left or right. This still works in Safari. It even works when navigation through system preferences but not in finder. I looked at the options in the track pad preferences and all the gesture options are the same as before. I loved the 3 finger gesture because it made navigation through folders a breeze.

Go to System Prefernces and Trackpad or Mouse, depending on which you are using, and see that the gestures you want to use are all checked.
