Download Adobe Flash update on Mac with Yosemite

I am attempting to install the Adobe Flash update on my Mac Book Pro with Yosemite.  On every attempt the download bar stops at 30%.  I have uninstalled Adobe and reinstall it and I get the same result.  I would appreciate help in resolving this issue.

I just downloaded the installer... took all of 3 seconds to download.  It's only a 1.2MB file.
Check to see if it has downloaded it anyways.  Should see something like AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_17au_Itrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg if it's there, quit Safari from the menu bar, run the installer.
If it's not there, try a different browser.  If that works, it's something in your Safari that's stopping it... could be an extension you have installed or adware.
You can also try a direct download from the Adobe site: (Under still having problems)

  • Alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite

Is there a reliable and secure alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite?  I keep getting websites telling me that I can see a video because my Flash Player needs to be updated.  But I haven't wanted to install it as I've heard negative things about it and Macs.  Is there an alternative to Flash Player?  And if so, what is it and where do I find it?

Being that Flash is very insecure, I've completely removed it from my MacBook Pro. The best alternative is to uninstall Flash from your system and download Google Chrome as it has Flash build into it and you're not vulnerable unless you're browsing in Chrome. If Safari is your main browser, as mine is, then you need to open Safari Preferences, go to Advanced and click the checkbox for 'Show Develop menu in menu bar'. Once you've done this, the Develop menu bar menu shows up and you can click it and choose 'Open Page With' and choose Chrome. It is a bit cumbersome, but it removes the vulnerability when browsing in Safari as many sites are now using HTML5. Hope this help.

  • Is it now OK to download Adobe Flash Player for Mac?

Is it now OK to download Adobe Flash Player for MAC?

It's always okay. Hackers try to find ways to attack it, Adobe fixes it. Just like Apple releases patches for flaws that have been found. Just like Microsoft constantly releases security fixes for its OS and other software.
No software is perfectly and forever safe, and unlikely ever will be. The only thing you must do in respect to the Flash Player is to only ever get it directly from Adobe. Never, EVER pay attention to any third party site that pops up a message about having to update flash. Especially if it tells you to download said update from their site.

  • I try to download adobe flash on my mac but every time it gets to a certain point and quits. Any suggestions?

I have had a Mac in the past and had no problem with downloading adobe flash but for some reason my laptop will not let me get flash. What should I do?

First, get the installer directly from Adobe. Second, be sure you're getting the latest version (you will if you use that link). There was a serious security flaw in earlier versions of Flash so Apple's XProtect system has blocked all earlier versions. Third, make sure all browsers and the Flash Preference in System Preferences are closed.

  • Adobe Flash Update infected Firefox with tons of viruses. Help!

I got with one of those annoying fake Adobe Flash Updates, and unfortunately fell for it and installed it, which has infected Firefox (and Chrome, and IE, for that matter) with tons of viruses that I CANNOT get rid of. I'm on a Windows 7 PC.
    Basically, what they do:
    - Adds "Enhanced Text" everywhere (text is underlined and leads to an ad)
    - Adds unwanted banners on sites
    - Frequent pop-ups
    - Redirects my searches (Google is essentially unusable)
    - Can't log-in to certain sites (eBay)
The last two are really killing me and making the internet very hard to enjoy. I've run Malwarebytes several times (first a quick scan, then a full scan), as well as TDSSKiller. Both detected malware and deleted them, but nothing changed. As per the internet's advice, I've tried disabling all my extensions/plug-ins, but doing that didn't help either - many reference specific extensions that cause these problems, like "CCodec" or "ghostery" but nothing like that appears in my add-ons menu. I went into Programs and Features and uninstalled anything suspicious-looking (which somehow lead to half that list disappearing? All my programs are still there, but for whatever reason that list shortened significantly), and still nothing.
I'm really at a loss here. None of my browsers are working properly and nothing I do seems to help.

Looks like you need to be locked and loaded for a virus to come, or just avoid it.
Can you try those scans in safe mode? Safe mode likely will prevent the malware from running at all during the safe mode session.

Hi, I've just heard about some kind of virus or malware that poses as an adobe flash update and I noticed excessive prompts to update over the last few weeks so I'm wondering if someone can please confirm whether the update prompt in the attached screenshot is genuine. Thanks!
Well that's just annoying... when I try to attach the 115kb TIFF file i get the error message "[The content type of this image is not allowed.]"
    A little help?

    Hi Mataczar,
It seems that your image attachment is not allowed. Try pasting a different file format.
Also, try asking this question in Flash forum. Somebody there will be able to answer you better.

  • I cant download Adobe Flash on my Mac. TRIED EVERYTHING TWICE!

I cant figure out how to get adobe Flash onto my mac computer. I have tried everything the website tells me to do, twice. Its been 2 weeks since I got my mac and I still cant play games or do certain research. Please help!!!

    Hi Katie,
I don't know what "I have tried everything the website tells me to do, twice" means, as it doesn't specify the issue.  Can you please be more specific in what you have, or have not, done?
    Thank you.

  • Problem Installing Adobe Flash Player for Mac Air (Yosemite)

I got a message saying my Adobe Flash Player was out of date. This seemed strange because I'd been accessing videos within the last hour with no problems. I went ahead and opened the Mac version installer downloaded of the Adobe site. The install started and after inputting an Admin password, the download reached 25% almost immediately. Unfortunately, it's been stuck at 25% since then. I've tried starting over, deleting the download and re-downloading the update with no success. I've also temporarily disabled my AdBlock and AdBlock Plus. I tried to uninstall AFP so I could start over but the box that's supposed to tell me what uninstaller version to download has an error message saying I need to update AFP.
    How can I fix this?
Edit: I thought maybe I was downloading an AFP for an earlier OS (I'm running 10.10.2). I made sure to download the latest version of AFP for Mac possible. The install is now stuck at 30%. (Just to be clear, I downloaded the install package with no problem - the issue is with the install program itself pausing at 30%.)
Edit 2: I figured out which uninstall package I needed (using this page: Uninstall Flash Player | Mac OS) but upon reinstalling AFP, it's stuck again at 25% of download.
Edit 3: The message "Connection failed. Trying to reconnect" has appeared, followed quickly by "connection failed". Guess I'll try again.

I've double-checked to make sure that I've selected "Allow Internet Plug-ins" under Safari>Preferences>Security. I've read in other threads that this is one possible solution but it isn't useful to me since I've uninstalled AFP and but I've been unable to reinstall it.
Edit: I'm not sure if Youtube is supported by a different software package but I can watch any videos on that site with no problem.

  • CC desktop installer, initializes, downloads and quits on a Mac with Yosemite

Today was asked to update CC. The update didn't work. After several attempts including using the cleaner tool now I am unable to clean reinstall. The CC desktop installer starts, initializes, downloads and the quits. Please help

I tried trough Adobe support by chat and they guided me to delete the OOBE, AAMupdater and Adobe Application Manager folders in the general and user-specific libraries. Just to make sure he wanted me to run the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner tool to remove completely CC. After this I was able to re-install CC, log-in, and install Photoshop and the new version of Lightroom. This solved the problem.
Thank you all for your replies.

That message is just a standard one issued, mainly for Windows users, you can disregard it if you didn't install any anti-virus. (OS X has one installed by Apple that doesn't interfere)
It's just some forms of anti-malware are really paranoid and lock the entire machine down. (like Norton)
