Download and Upload speeds have been dropping sinc...

I have recently been having seriously problems with my connection, every day the router appears to reset/crash, sometimes once and sometimes more than several times a day.
This was the speed I was getting in December, everything was fine.
Now this is the speed that I am getting.
I'm not sure how this is happening but I have been able to confirm that it isn't an issue within my household, there is only have one master socket which the router is connected to along with a wireless phone thats connected to it.
This is what the results that I got from the router.

IP Profile for your line is - 1500 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 13.18:22.06:64.83 (SBE : NBE : PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.

I'd like to know if a conclusion could be brought to why my connection has been falling since December. Could it of had been a line switch? Because my connection was fine up until the start of this year.

Hi lionheart1066
I see Imjolly was giving you a hand with this on another thread.
We still need to try and get you connected via the test socket to rule out external wiring and possible swap over micro-filters too.
I note you mentioned you have an I-plate.  Take this off, as it could be faulty, as you will then see the test socket.  If possible connect up via Ethernet and leave for a day or two and see if this stops the drops.
Its also important to look out for other sources of interference.  You can see a list of common offenders on this link.
If you have tried this out and are still having problems drop me in an email please with your BT account and telephone number along with a link back to this thread.
Just send using the contact us form in my profile under the 'about me' section and mark FAO Craig please.
Thx
Craig

I have the Jetpack 4GLTE, what is the Mbps download and upload speeds for this device?

The avgrage real speed will be more in the area of 25 to 38 Mbps  You would need to be in a strong signal area with high grade cell tower service and low customer use to even reach 50 Mbps.
From Verizon page.  Just be aware that using the MiFi 6620L can cost a lot of money. And you can thank the device's fast performance for that. In my testing around the San Francisco Bay Area, rathe device delivered blazing-fast download speeds that nged between around 10Mbps to around 40Mbps. At those speeds, you can burn through 4GB of data in just less than an hour. Once you reach the cap, of course, you'll have to pay somewhere between $10 to $15 for each additional gigabyte, depending on the plan you sign up for.

  • My download and upload speed is half that of my laptop

My download and upload speed is half that of my laptop. I looked on a forum and it suggested that the new version of IOS might solve the problem, but I have updated to the latest and it hasn't.  It is erratic, and I have to move my ipad round to get a signal in some parts of the house, whereas the laptop works very fast right next to it.

Problem solved. The culprit is the VZ issued Actiontec Modem-Router-Access Point.
I have doubt from the beginning that the problem is caused by my wifi adapter b/c it has always performed very well from the start. Upon more research on the web, I see that there are a lot of people having the exact problem as I do with their FiOS internet. I found some  users who solved the problem with the same solution so I decide to try the same.
When I switched to FiOS, I took away my Asus N router b/c the VZ supplied Actiontec is a N router and AP also. Now, I turn off wireless in the Actionteach and hook up my Asus N router to it to use it as the AP. Boom! Now I get the full provisioned 50/25 speed and then some with both wired and wireless (and, my upstairs office is getting 40/20 wirelessly when before it used to be only about 15/10 using the Actiontec AP). Turning off the Asus and turning the Actiontech wireless back on and the wireless drops back down to 25/15. So it is pretty clear to me that somehow the Actiontec is not performing the way it should.
(In the Asus N router, in additional to the option of setting the wireless mode to b, g, n, there is also an option to select the wireless speed of up to 11, 54, 72 or 150. When I select “Up to 72 Mbps”, I get the same wireless speed as when I use the Actiontec AP which is only about 25/15. When I set the Asus speed to “Up to 150” I get the full provisioned speed of 50/25. So I look into the Actiontec but there is no such option beside the option to configure the b, g, n modes.)
I don’t think they give me a bump unit of the Actiontec b/c this problem is rather widespread. So, either there is a problem with this entire line of model of Actiontec or that there is a setting (or settings) in it that prevent it from performing the way it should but I look and look and can’t find any relevant setting.

this is the message im having trouble with.
all download and file copies have been paused. the disk you are attempting to use is full
    what do i do now?
    thanks

Perhaps the destination you are trying to download to is full; that's what the message says, after all.
If you're trying to download directly to an iPod touch, then perhaps it is full up.
If you're trying to download to your computer, is there space on your hard drive? Alternatively, is the hard drive set to "read only" or are your account permissions set to deny you the option to save files?

  • Since downloading and installing Lion, have been having trouble with internet connection. Are there settings that I need to adjust?

Just installed Lion 10.7 ... having problems opening Safari and connectivity.  Have to reset modem, restart computer, etc.  It will be stable for awhile, then next time I log on, have to go through same things.  Is there a setting that I need to adjust?

Also, I have already done the 10.7.1 update...come to think of it, the problem seems to have started after the update.  Any thoughts?

  • Download and Upload speed too slow...

A friend of mine posted this on his Forum this morning, any thoughts...
My Mac at home is making me pull my hair out, is so slow in internet up and downloads that I can barely tolerate it. It's a late 2012 27" iMac running Yosemite 10.10.2 , 3.2 Ghz Intel Core i5 chip with 32 GB memory, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB Graphics card. By all accounts it has good hardware. I have been struggling with download speed for two months with this machine. On Verizon FIOS, with the newest Wi-Fi Router and it hangs on downloads all the time. Running Verizon speed tests I get:
    28.3 Mbps download
    43.79 Mbps upload
    9 ms latency
This is in both Ethernet AND Wifi, either way I get the same approximate results each time
Now, I have a new Dell Laptop that is only two weeks old and here's what it does running the same speed test 2 seconds after the iMac is done and at the same spot in the house as the iMac:
    58.12 Mbps download
    82,05 Mbps upload
    11 ms latency
Clearly the new little laptop is running nearly twice as fast. So it has to be either 1) hardware on the iMac, or 2) software on the iMac
To eliminate as many factors as I can, I wiped the hard drive clean on the iMac and did a clean install of the OS (Yosemite). It had no effect on speeds, which was very disappointing. So since there is nothing else I can think of to test, am I wrong to think its the operating system itself? It seemed to run faster on Snow Leopard.....much faster. I'm out of ideas - anyone have anything?

This issue was totally resolved with this week's Yosemite point release.

  • Download and upload speed issues

Hi I am new to the forum and I am having problems with my broadband speed I get approx 6.8mb download speed but what appears to be happening is when I surf the net the speed is 6.8mb but the problem is when I download the speed drops to max 2mb can be as low as 0.6mb does anyone know why this would be happening, I have read on the forum that you should keep your home hub on 24/7 must admit haven't been doing this usually turn it off when no one is in the house. The other issue is my upload speed is poor only get approx 0.3mb when I was with O2 before I changed to bt in the summer I was getting 1mb upload any ideas how to improve this

hi thanks for getting back in touch we have the old type of phone socket does not have a test socket
speed test result: download speed 7.10mb upload 0.33mb ping latency 39.00 ms
these are the speeds when i surf the issue is when i download the speed plummets to 2mb. and why is upload only 0.33mb when o2 on same line was 1mb

  • Infinity - really low download and upload speeds

I am at the end of my tether!!!! I pay for Infinity 2 but my speeds are ridiculously slooooww!  My problem has been a problem for over a year!
After speaking with BT yet again - and more recently  sending numerous emails to a customer support adviser who finally confirmed and agreed that I do have a problem with the speed of my broadband  and that I should be due some for of compensations, she kindly advised me that the problem was being passed to a manager, yippee I thought until I received another email to say the manager was dealing with complaints at the time and I was advised to contact the Tech Help Desk ... what was wrong with dealing with my complaint I wonder!!
Speaking with a BT support member on Thursday, they suggested I should go back to the old broadband, they put me on hold to speak to someone who could help and after more than 15 on hold my phone ran out of battery(!) which it does - but I know BT have my mobile number on their system and nearly every time I have spoken with Customer support my phone has gone dead but I have always managed to ask them to call me back on my mobile, but this time I couldn't ask them to do that as I was on continous hold!
After doing the BTW Performance test 3 times a day the best download I have reached is 30 the worst is 12!!  The majority of speeds over the past few days have been between 20 and 14!!
I have been in contact with BT for more than a year to compain about my broadband being slow and BT Vision not working properly and continually been fobbed off.
I think the time has come for me to really seriously think about another provider.
Does anyone else have seriously slow speeds?

  • My iPad 4 needs to be right beside my router to get 3 bars. When I walk 15 feet away from my router, I get 1 bar with terrible download and upload speed.

I get no connection from being away 20 feet from the router, my iPod 5 gets 2 straight bars but my iPad 4 gets no connection and it:s right beside my iPod 5 too. what the ****??! I got a iPad 4 running iOS 7.0.4. I charged it and it"s acting wonky. I reset network settings and that didn't work at all. any other ways Apple nerds?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at
    http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Slow download and upload speed through vpn+samba

I`m connecting to Lenovo  EMC PX12-450r through a vpn connection. The upload and the download speed are maximum 350kb/s. If i connect through the same vpn and copy files to another samba server within the same network the speeds are ok. Are there any settings that i`m missing?
Laptop - VPN Client - SonicWall - Lenovo EMC PX12-450r = low speeds
Laptop - VPN Client - SonicWall - Windows with writeable file sharing = speeds OK
Laptop - VPN Client - SonicWall - Linux with samba writeable directory = speeds OK

    Hello darkmac
If the unit's local Samba transfer speeds seem normal, then the issue would most likely be on the VPN server or your firewall settings.
From the device end you would want to double check that you have the correct DNS, gateway, vlan, etc configurations
If the unit's Samba transfer speeds seem to be slow locally as well I recommend cycling the Samba (windows file sharing/cifs) protocol in the web interface to see if that corrects the issue.
Another item to check into is if the Media server features is enabled.  It can cause noticable performance drops to other protocols when enabled.

  • Slow Download and Upload speeds ADSL1

For weeks now my internet has been slow. When I tried to downlaod an update to my GPS with and estimated time of 2hours 32 minutes, I blew my stack when the time was shown to be over 300 hours. Ran Speedtest and I get 0.7Mbps at best, often less than that. Tried the chat facility and it timed out while chatting to Hazel because the download stopped altogether. SO I telephoned (surprised something from Telstra actually worked) and logged a complaint. The chap said someone would call me with 18 hours. Well, you can guess. What am I to do? Telstra has the infrastructure here and I feel trapped: they do not call me and I have no alternative. Any suggestions?

    Hi dmacster,
I apologise for any inconvenience or frustration this may have caused you. Please speak to technical support team with your complaint number and we can check on the complaint status for you.

You don't have to subscribe, you can hide songs via your computer's iTunes so that they don't show in Purchased for redownloading : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919 (with apps and iOS 7 I've been needing to log out and back into my account on my iPad after hiding them on my computer for them to then be hidden on it, not sure if the same applies to music)

How much free space do you have?
You shold generally have 10%-15% free space on your boot )C:) drive.
If not, you need to clear some space by deleting them/ moving them to other drives.
