Downloaded adobe reader for mac, but can't open pdf from websites

I just downloaded the Adobe reader for Mac, but can't open any pdf from websites.  I've already deleted the previous version off of my computer.  I even intstalled Adobe Air Reader as well, but nothing is working.  Please help!  =(

In case you have Safari version 5.1 and above, please have a look at :http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/908/cpsid_90885.html
If this is not the case please see if the safari has 32-bit mode enable. More info at: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/509/cpsid_50983.html

I second LibreOffice as it's the most recent fork, however NeoOffice and OpenOffice will also work.
Just say No money to Redmond!
Also the old Ready Set Go! will be having a Lion version out soon.
It's a low cost page layout program (like Indesign but without the high price) and can make booklets etc better, import the excel grpahics from LibreOffice.

What OS are you running? Try creating a new admin account and installing from that account.

  • Adobe Reader 9 installed but can't open any pdf. file now

I have been successfully using the Acrobat Adobe 8 with no problem until trying to download the Adobe Reader 9.
I run on Windows XP.  Ever since downloading Adobe Reader 9....I can no longer use Acrobat Adobe at all.  I can not
read or open any Acrobat Adobe files .pdf no matter what application was used in creating them or rather they were created by me or someone else.
I get the error message that Adobe encountered a problem and had to close.  Someone PLEASE help.

Repairing Acrobat after removing Acrobat Reader worked for me in the past. I would try that first before removing Acrobat.

  • Adobe Reader 10.1.3 Performance Problems (Open PDF from Outlook)

    Hello all,
Adobe Reader 10.1.3 Multi Language version was rolled out to several hundreds of Win XP SP3 client machines.
Now users start reporting that Adobe Reader starts very slow. Most users complain that opening a PDF attached to an email in MS Outlook takes very long (10 sek up to several minutes).
In some forums I found problems with PDFs in Outlook in versions before 10.1.1.
Does anyone has an idea what causes this slow response?
Is there anything we can test to come closer to the problem?
    Thanks for help.

I do not have this problem with Reader 10.1.6 or 11.0.2 on Outlook 2007.
WhatI would do if I encountered such a problem: observe the process with Process Monitor.  This could give me some clues what is going on, compared to an earlier Reader version that did not cause this problem.

  • Can't open PDFs from website. Use OS X 6.8 & Firefox 24

When I click on the link, I get a blank screen. If I switch to Safari I can open PDFs, but not with Firefox. Can you help?

Can you check your PDF viewer setting? This article describes how to switch it: [[View PDF files in Firefox without downloading them]] (skip to the section "Using a PDF reader plugin"). If your current setting doesn't work, does another one of the options work?

  • Firefox not opening PDF with Adobe Reader for Mac

I can't open PDF in Firefox with Adobe Reader for Mac, what should i do?

I have come across this problem, but i have solved my problem. The default PDF viewer with Firefox browser on Mac is Preview, so you can't use adobe reader to open PDF files, if you want to use Adobe Reader to open pdf with Firefox on mac, you need set adobe reader as your mac's default pdf viewer. Do as follows:
    1. Select any PDF file and choose File > Get Info.
    2. Choose Adobe Reader as your default PDF files viewer from the Browser in Download Action window.
    3. Click OK to set Adobe Reader as your default PDF files viewer.

A creative Cloud membership provides you with the ability to have installations on different platforms, Windows and Mac.  And since you are allowed to have two working installations, you can have one of each.

I downloaded adobe Reader XI sucessfully for Windows but I cannot open pdfs.
    Any suggestions?

I am able to open them now, but I have to open the program first and then open the file through that. This doesn't make sense why I can't just open by clicking on the file.

Did you do that: launch the standalone Reader (not the browser plugin) and accept the EULA?

  • I CANNOT DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER FOR MY MAC (ID AND PASSWORD DOES NOT WORK)

I CANNOT DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER FOR MY MAX (ID AND PASSWORD DOES NOT WORK

This seems to cause a certain amount of confusion. Your Adobe ID is not used to download or install Adobe Reader.
But when you install any software you are likely to need your own computer's administrator password. This password was chosen by you (or someone) the first time the computer was switched on, and is used to protect the system against bad things.
