Downloaded i0s7 on iphone4 no longer compatible with my itunes

I get an error saying:
The iPhone cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes.
So, I try to download the newest version of itunes from the apple store. I click on the .dmg and it says I can’t download it because I need mac os x 10.6.8 or higher. I currently have version 10.5.8. I then try to download maverick (since it’s a free download), but again, it says I cannot download it because I don’t have 10.6.8 or higher. I refuse to pay for an upgrade to my os just to use a product that IS SUPPOSED to be compatible with my computer.
Next, I decided to restore my phone to see if this would work, but I go through the whole process and I’m getting an error saying:
The iphone could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build.
The suggestion for fixing this error is to download the latest version of itunes which I can’t do because my os is too old.
So, now I’m back to square one.
Any other suggestions?

Unfortunately you didn't read the system requirements before doing your upgrades. Always read the fine print first. Your product was compatible but you're trying to bridge a 7 year difference between iOS version and computer.
What model computer do you have? To get more information about your computer, go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..." Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
If you have an Intel Mac (it will say Intel in the information) you can upgrade relatively cheaply ($20) by purchasing Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard 10.6 Technical Requirements - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575 <-- read first Snow Leopard disc source - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard Backup your computer, install, then run Software Update. If your computer is capable of it the upgrade to Mavericks after installing Snow Leopard is free. you might want to start a different topic if you're interested in doing this.
If you have a PPC Mac you are out of luck. iOS7 requires a new iTunes which requires Snow Leopard at least which requires an Intel Mac (or Windows).

I agree entirely, been messing with this since the upgrade to Mavericks but I didn't find it quite as easy as uninstalling the WD smartware as it still operates when you plug the drive back in - I think it gets loaded onto the drive and runs from within (?). The advice from WD was that time machine was faulty and I should contact Apple...thanks guys!
Anyway, for the OP's benefit, this is what I found:
1. My problem was that time machine couldn't see any further back than before the Mavericks install, but if I opened up and interrogated the WD drive, the old backups were still there.
2. When TM started doing new backups, it overwrote the ones that it could see, not the oldest ones on the drive. This indicated to
me that the WD software had somehow partitioned off the old backups and excluded that part of the drive from being overwritten. Of course, as the drive was practically full, it meant that any new backups wouldn't fit in the available space.....
3. The only way I could find to resolve this was to use the disc utility to erase and repartition the external drive. This will obviously remove all of the old files and backups, but I was more concerned about keeping a current profile as backup rather than a load of stuff from months ago.
4. Anyway, what happens after the eraseure has completed is that you get the WD icon on the desktop, and you're invited to install the software - this means the software has now been deleted. Juts don't reinstall it, just let TM do it's backup and all is well.
Usual disclaimers and warnings about keeping another copy of your system etc. obviously apply, and I know this is a radical move to delete all your old data but it worked for me. I guess I didn't appreciate that you could use the external drive without the software that came with it and just followed the screen guide.
I'm also aware that if you don't want to use TM to do a complete restore and only want to find one old version of a document, this is difficult. However, you can then install the WD software and find the file but you'll then have to do this all again.....

where is your library located? there is an iPhoto library folder on my desktop with random photos & albums - not all - put there by me - i vaguely remember a problem with iPhoto when i upgraded from snow leopard
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring? after the drive replacement i uploaded saved data from a week old back up and found iphoto looking somewhat sick - no updates were offered in software updates

Help! My display driver is no longer compatible with Adobe software!

Help! I rely on Adobe CC and my iMac to earn my living. My display driver is no longer compatible with Adobe software! What should I do? (most affordably because I dont have enough money for even basic living expenses right now.) Detailed notes are below but in a nutshell, I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS display driver. Adobe no longer supports it and disables the software functions depending on the graphics hardware. It recommends I check the manufacturer's website for the latest software. I did but only found firmware update for a different type of display driver for my early 2008 iMac. What should I do??! Please help me solve this!

If you decide to use up to the minute applications, you will have to accept that the computer and operating system will eventually be incompatible with your chosen application as the features in the latest application rely on new hardware and operating systems to support them.
Your options are to either use a newer Mac or use a version of Photoshop that will run on your Mac.

Firefox 4.0 is no longer compatible with screen reader programs such as zoom text. I'm a visually impaired user and have never had problems until now. I want to revert back to 3.5 because now 4.0 is useless to me. If it isn't broken don't fix it. Mozilla just made things worse for me. Thanks a lot.

Your screen reader is no longer compatible because it's author has not updated it for FF4

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data. See https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use
your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of
installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Ipod no longer compatible with accesory???

I had a tdk clock radio which was compatible with my ipod touch 4g. Since the most recent update (5.0.1) my ipod touch keeps saying that the accesory is no longer compatible with the ipod. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or anybody who has had a similar problem?

Several users have reported simial problems after iOS 5 and/or iOS 5.0.1 but I do not think it was for your product.
- First I wuld visit tdk's support site site.
- Next try the standard fixes:
--- Reset.
--- Restore from backup
--- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
- If you still have the problem you will have to waid for tdk or Apple to issue a firmware update.

Airport Express Airplay no longer compatible with iTunes 11.3

Everything was working perfectly until this morning when I updated to itunes 11.3 (54) 64 -bit, now I open my itunes and try to select my airplay speakers connected to an Airport Express and the message appears "The Airplay device is not longer compatible with this version of iTunes" I have a Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.9.4 installed.
Any help will be much appreciated.

My iPhone, iPod, iPad and any other device sends the music perfectly through, just my Mac with iTunes is the one having the issue.

Java, Adobe Acrobat, HP Web Printing, Adobe Contribute, all of which people use world round no longer compatible with Firefox? Maybe it's time to go back to IE.

Firefox used to be the best, now its working against every piece of software i use in the publishing industry. Java is important, so is Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe contribute.
Maybe it is time to kick Firefox to the curb. Firefox is not getting better, it's getting worse. It freezes, it crashes, it's no longer compatible with major programs in the publishing industry.
AND, you guys never answer any of your users. I'm tired of Firefox freezing up. read your freaking forums. Your not making the internet better, I used to have such faith you.

DONE... so I moved onto Sony, but this Vista just is making my life a living

IPod touch no longer 'compatible' with dock

Hi all,
I have a Kitsound Boomdock iPod dock. My 3rd generation iPod touch is apparently no longer compatible with this devices. Or no longer supports it. Sometimes it gives an error message along those lines and sometimes doesn't bother.
I know the iPod is old but it still works well and I use Spotify to listen to music via the Kitsound dock.
Why wouldn't it be working? And is there anything I can do to sort it??

Sometimes this works:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod and dock for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Did this happen after an iOS update? Sometimes an iOPS updates breaks compatibility.

Why is my iPhone 4S no longer compatible with my Sony ICF-DS15iP dock since updating to iOS6.1?

Since updating to iOS 6.1 my iPhone 4S (16GB) is no longer compatible with the Sony audio dock. Obviously the FM radio still works fine, and when docked the phone still charges, but now when you play music the audio only comes out of the phone's integral speaker and not routed to the amplifed speaker in the dock.
Any ideas how this can be corrected, without rolling back to iOS 6.0 that is??
