Downloaded iTunes 8 amd my music is gone

After downloading 8 my iTunes library is gone, but i have all my music on my iphone. How do I get it back to iTunes? This ***** Apple!! After sitting here for hours i tried to sink my phone with iTunes and i seem to have 2 libraries, but I can´t find the second one with all my music.
Anyone know what to do?

If you purchased the music from iTunes then you should be able to go iTunes > File > transfer purchases and put them back on the computer. or just drag the My Music folder and drop it into the left column of iTunes into the library to see if it recognizes the old music.
Otherwise as long as you owned the music originally you should be able to re-import it from CD or contact iTunes store support to see if they will regrant the downloads http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store

BACK-STORY
I recently was given a new iPhone 4S from the Apple Store, I synced it to my PC when I got home and got everything back.I had to uninstall a download of windows 8.1 back to the original windows 8 in order to install an anti-virus software. The only way to uninstall Windows 8.1 is basically a factory reset, by doing so I lost everything that wasn't saved in cloud or external drive.I downloaded iTunes again, signed in and the only thing I could find was the music that I purchased from iTunes. I don't want to connect my phone to the iTunes I just downloaded,because I think I'm going to lose all the music that's already on there, minus the music I bought from iTunes. It's a lot of albums and it took me a while to collect them all too.
WHAT I WOULD LIKE HELP WITH PLEASE
Can I transfer the music on my phone to some type of storage?
USB memory drive
Cloud ex. Skydrive, Google Drive, Dropbox etc
Store somewhere on my PC. (I know I can't sync from my iPhone to iTunes.)
If it is at all possible to store the music that's already on my iPhone using another method,such as the ones I've mentioned or haven't,can I then transfer it to iTunes?
If there is no way to save my iPhone's music library, then when I rebuild it is there a way to store it, that if the same thing was to happen I wouldn't have to go through this process?
Also, any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

In iTunes, select the music you want to delete (⌘+a to select all) and hit Delete on your keyboard.
Also delete the music files in Finder. Also make sure you have your own Apple ID and iTunes account and logged in.

I synced my iphone 4 to itunes and now my music is gone

I synced my iphone with itunes and now the music on my iphone is there, but only under "songs". The playlist titles are still under "playlists" but the songs are gone. The artists are still listed under "artists", but their albums and songs are gone. All the music is listed under "songs". How do I fix it back to the way it should be? This issue is only on my iphone, itunes on my laptop is normal, playlists are there and full of the songs I put on them.

Left click on your iPhone under devices.
Click on the music Tab above the picture of the iPhone in the middle of the screen
Uncheck Sync music -click remove -click apply at bottom right
wait for sync to finish
Recheck Sync music -Click apply at bottom right
Wait to finish - Check device

Updated itunes today now all music is gone, completely gone

Please help. My daughter and I have been purchasing songs from the i tunes store for years and this morning when we updated it it now says welcome... and all the music is gone, completely gone. I have tried to go back to a previous library but they are very small files. We had GIGS of music! Where did it all go and why does i tunes do this??? My daughter synced her iPod yesterday but with only a couple play lists not the whole library now our years of adding and sorting songs are gone!

If that doesn't work, where do you keep your music files? Is it in the standard location which is the iTunes Music folder in the iTunes folder, or somewhere else such as an external drive?
You need to check in your music folder to see if your music files are still there. They almost always will be.

When you open iTunes do you have the dreaded ! next to each tune? If so then you need to put the tunes back where they were before the problem occurred. Are your PL listed on the left side?
The default path for iTunes is HD>Users>My Account>Music>iTunes>iTunes Music. iTunes music is where the folders would be nested by Artist>Album>Tune.
If in iTunes prefs>Advanced you have selected the options to 'keep' and 'copy' the above path is the normal place where your tunes should be. This is also where you set the path for iTunes to go find your tunes.

Whenever I open itunes (not try and sync), I get a duplicate file name was specified error. It also gives me the same error when I try and download music, saying it cant. I just downloaded itunes so not much could have gone wrong so far.

Before you ask, i tried going through the third-party add-on document and opening it up in safemode did not fix it. Also, I am running it as administrator and that is not helping either.

I DID IT! I FIXED IT, FINALLY!!! At least it worked for me. Here's what I did: from Control Panel/Programs/Programs and Features/Uninstall or Change Program, I right-clicked on iTunes and selected Repair. After that ran and completed, I went to Computer/Local Disk (C:)/Program Files. From the list, I right-clicked on iTunes and selected “Run as Administrator.” After that I tried to purchase music from iTunes, and it worked! I hope this makes sense and works for you. Good luck!

2 itunes accounts, now 1 music library gone?

my brother started using itunes recently, and we are on the same pc account. different itunes accounts, but since he has started purchasing his music, my entire library of 200+ songs has completely dissapeared and only his is there! is there a way to switch in between music libraries, because i tried signing into my itunes and it stayed with my brother's music library. please i need an answer how?

As far as I know in each install of iTunes there is only one library which defaults to one folder location, wherever is your iTunes installed.
I am sure your music is still there in your hard drive but not being recognised due to the change in iTunes accounts. Go to Edit->Preferences->Select the tab Advanced and check for the iTunes Media folder location, there is where all the music, etc is downloaded, probably you have two folders there, one with your music.
If you want to share your PC with your brother, you should've created another account for your brother, install iTunes in that account. In that way, your installation would not be changed (so the PC would have two users defined).

I recently bought a new computer, downloaded itunes and all my music from the cloud, made a few more purchases on itunes then plugged in my ipod and it wont sync. My ipod is already associated with my itunes account and the computer is authorised...

I have a new laptop which will not sync my ipod to it. I've registered the computer, this is the only ipod associated with this itunes account. It shows the syncing symbol on the laptop and on the ipod but then when i eject the ipod afterwards the new songs have not transfered or my playlists.

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account." The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases. It is also used with iCloud. iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod. If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes. There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary. Click on Music next to Summary. This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked). If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library. Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres. On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod. When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library. Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want). Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs. Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists. Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs). The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

I had to reset my computer and re-download itunes. i already have music on my ipod that i want to keep, if i sync it will it delete whats on the ipod already or will it add the content to itunes?

- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back UP
- Restore the iPod from that backup

ITunes was replaced with "iTunes alias" and my music is gone

Got home and turned on my macbook pro to find my itunes named "alias" with a slanted arrow next to it with no music. was completely fine and normal the last time and i did not update.
