Downloaded Mountain Lion and now not able to select multiple email messages at a time for deletion what gives?

Downloaded ML last night now one little glitch seems to be that I cannot select multiple messages at a time to delete. With the massive amount of email I receive, this is a problem. Cannot seem to find any simple fixes in preferences. Any ideas?

you could use one hand to do this, before ML. select one email and drag up/down with the cursor to select more. selecting/shift key is the normal multiple selection operation. that's two handed.
if there is empty space at the bottom, it works.
i did submit this through the feedback process. i hope the functionality returns.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Yes, just reinstall from your Time Machine backup you made before updating to Mountain Lion.

  • Just downloaded Mountain Lion and now none of my hundreds of Appleworks documents will open.  This is a huge disaster!  Please, anyone, I need a solution!

Just downloaded Mountain Lion 10.8.2 to my iMac and now none of my hundreds of Appleworks documents won't open.  What a disaster!  What can I do?

To resize the drive do the following:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After the main menu appears select Disk Utility and click on the Continue button. Select the hard drive's main entry then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    2. You should see the graphical sizing window showing the existing partitions. A portion may appear as a blue rectangle representing the used space on a partition.
    3. In the lower right corner of the sizing rectangle for each partition is a resizing gadget. Select it with the mouse and move the bottom of the rectangle upwards until you have reduced the existing partition enough to create the desired new volume's size. The space below the resized partition will appear gray. Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.  (Note: You can only make a partition smaller in order to create new free space.)
    4. Click on the [+] button below the sizing window to add a new partition in the gray space you freed up. Give the new volume a name, if you wish, then click on the Apply button. Wait until the process has completed.
You should now have a new volume on the drive.
It would be wise to have a backup of your current system as resizing is not necessarily free of risk for data loss.  Your drive must have sufficient contiguous free space for this process to work.
Now boot your computer using your Snow Leopard DVD:
Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
      1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple logo
          appears.
      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
Follow onscreen instructions to install Snow Leopard. Just be sure you select the new partition you created as the installer's target so you don't erase your Mountain Lion system.

I downloaded Mountain Lion. I love it..but now my Fujitsu Scansnap scanner will not work. Fujitsu says I need to contact Adobe for the driver. Yet Adobe doesn't list a driver, only the pricey upgrades. Is this true?

  • I have download mountain lion and now i can get youtube to play?

I have download nountain and now i cant get youtube to play.  How can i get it to play?

OS X does not include Adobe's Flash Player. Because most content on You Tube is Flash based you need to navigate to:
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Download Flash and then re-try your You Tube videos.

  • I just downloaded mountain lion and now I can't download pdfs

When I try to download anything, I get the following message.
And I don't see where I can specify where else it could download to.
    Help please!
    Thanks
/Users/Downloads could not be saved, because an unknown error occurred.
Try saving to a different location.

That's not a folder that normally exists. It should be /Users/<yourusername>/Downloads.
In Safari, open Preferences. On the General tab, look for "Save download files to" and pick the folder from there

  • Just downloaded Mountain Lion and now Safari keeps directing me to mobile version of website

For what ever reason this only happens when I go to one specific site (audiusa.com).  I have posted on an audi forum and I appear to be the only one having this issue.  Also, I can use the site correctly via google chrome on my Mac and PC.
This leads me to believe that there is a Safari setting that I must be missing.  Any help is appreciated.
    TIA
11" MacBook Air w/ OS X Mountain Lion

This helped.  But for whatever reason, the "default" user agent keeps sending it to mobile site.  I changed the user agent to google (mac) and it works that way.

  • I downloaded Mountain Lion and now my Numbers reverted to the old version.

I can't open my recent Numbers documents because it says that I need the newest version of numbers.  However, when I go into the app store it won't let me install the new version because it says that it is already installed.  A conundrum.

Installing ML doesn't change your iWorks version from 09 to 08. Installing ML doesn't have any affect on iWorks applications. If you previoulsy purchased iWorks 09 on DVD, then install it. If you purchased iWorks apps from the App Store, then download them again.

  • I downloaded mountain lion and then the new office suite (word, ppt, excel) but now when I try to display one of my ppt's it says 'ppt cannot open the file...the file may be corrupt, in use, not a type recognized by ppt etc.." how can I fix it?? HELP

I downloaded mountain lion and then the new office suite (word, ppt, excel) but now when I try to display one of my ppt's it says 'ppt cannot open the file...the file may be corrupt, in use, not a type recognized by ppt etc.." how can I fix it?? HELP

Did you try to open teh fle by double-clicking its icon? If the file was made with an older version of Office, you may get that message. Try opeing PP and, from its "File" menu, see if you can open the ppt. I've foundthat often gets around that message and then yo ucan save the file from the newer version.
If that doesn't work, consider asking in the Microsoft Office: Mac forums here:

PowerPoint is not an Apple product and it seems a lot of people around here avoid Office.

  • HT201240 hi all. i just downloaded mountain lion and it seems to have added an old password for admin at the start up, the old password was removed so all i had to do was press enter and off i go, i cant remember it, what to do now??

hi all. i just downloaded mountain lion and it seems to have added an old password for admin at the start up, the old password was removed so all i had to do was press enter and off i go, i cant remember it, what to do now??

    Eli,
You can reset a Password (lost/forgotten) set on your Mac using 'Reset Password Utility' available with OS X Utilities tool. With OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Utilities tool can be generally found on a local hidden Recovery HD Partition if your Mac has one.
To check If your Mac has got a local hidden Recovery HD Partition, start your Mac holding COMMAND + R buttons. If you hold the keys pressed enough and there is a local Recovery HD Partition on your Mac, you will be presented with OS X Utilities window.
Click the 'Tool' menu item and choose 'Reset password'. Terminal window appears. Type 'resetpassword' into it and press 'Enter'. Reset Password window appears with User Account Names available on your Start-up Volume. Select the User Account Name and rest is simple to follow.
One of the advantages of this method is that it does not require any Authorization method such as administrative authentication to reset a password.
NOTE: If your Mac does not have a local hidden Recovery Partition on its system disk, you can create one using Disk Assistant application available from Apple. Search for the Disk Assistant in the support area.

  • I downloaded mountain lion and my audio does not work

I Downloaded mountain lion and my audio input does not work. I am tryig to use it with Articulate.
I rebooted twice, I ahve taken out the external mic
I have looked in Utilities and see if the setting are muted but all ok
I have looked in Activity monitor
    Please help
    Brett

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
    1. If anything is plugged into the audio-out (headphone) port, unplug it.
    2. From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Sound ▹ Output
Check the settings. The internal speakers should be selected as the output device, the Mute box should not be checked, and the volume slider should be at least halfway to the right.
    3. You may need to darken the room for this step. Look inside the headphone port. If a red light is coming from the port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a headphone mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
    4. Boot in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime. It will take much longer than usual. You don't have to log in; just reboot as usual (without holding any keys) when the login screen appears. (Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode.)
    5. Reset the NVRAM.
    6. Reset the SMC.
    7. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to bare metal from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Updated to Mountain Lion and now when I download a purchased program nothing happens (it jumps to downloads but doesn't open)

I've updated to Mountain Lion and now when I download a purchased program nothing happens (it jumps to download but the download will not open?)?

Hi, Thanks for responding.  Most downloads you can double click and/or drag over to applications for it to actually install however this one you can't.  It just acts like an empty folder and does nothing.  I did update to Mountain Lion recently and wondered if it was incompatible or something or if I was doing anything wrong?  Thanks.
