Downloading Bank Statements

I have purchased a Mac Mini MD387B/A. However my Bank only gives me the facility of downloading statements in Excel or pdf. At present I have to download them on my old computer (with microsoft software) and transfer them via flash drive to Numbers on my Mac. Would it help me to download open office or are there better options. I have suggested to my Bank that they give the facility of downloading direct to Numbers but I don't expect any developments in that direction soon.
Any help would be welcome.

Thanks, just tried it. Numbers will open the statement, and is readable, but is not in a useable form. To put it in a useable form I would have to copy each seperate item and paste it into an idividual cell in Numbers, would obviously take more time than it would be worth. I did try that with the PDF but when I pasted items it persisted in putting more than one item in different cells, and they were not evenly spread subsequent columns, ie you would have perhaps three items in one cell, and in the next column there would be only two items pasted.

Can anyone recommend an app for downloading bank statements (.csv/.qif) directly on to my iPad that will allow me to analyse my money flow....no account management needed. I just need something v simple that can take my statement and produce graphs etc....thanks

1, Photos are stored within your computer's iTunes, you just use iTunes as a means for trasnferring them to the iPad. Connect your iPad to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If you want more control over the photos that you copy to the iPad (e.g. the ability to delete them directly on the iPad, re-order them etc) then you could consider a third-party photo-management app instead of the built-in Photos app e.g. Photo Manager Pro

3, You first need an app on the iPad that supports the type of file that you want to copy to it - the iPad doesn't have a file system like a 'normal' computer, everything has to be associated with an app. As to how you then get the file to your chosen app will depend upon what the app supports - different apps will have different ways of copying their content to/from a computer e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.

Cannot download Bank Statements

Using a new iMac and Safari. I cannot download my bank statements anymore. With eMac. No problem. When I attempt to download the statement. I get a blank screen. I tried to save it as PDF and and when I try to open it, Reader says it's corrupted. Any help would be appreciated.

My bank, Alliance and Leicester/Santander provides a facility for downloading bank statements in various formats for use with accounting packages. I use Microsoft Money and can download my statements in a file format Microsoft Money recognises. This works fine with Internet Explorer. When I try the same process with Firefox I just get a generic "file" that Microsoft Money does not recognise and will not open.

My data comes up blank in PDF bank statements and employer W2s (ASP)

When I try to download bank statements (actually, today it's my W2 form from ADP's craptastic "Payroll Work Center") an ASP file is downloaded to my desktop. It opens up in Prieview, but aside from the form itself, the data fields are blank.
I've tried opening the file in Acrobat Reader, Acrobat Professional, from Safari's 32 bit mode, Firefox, Chrome and Opera... no luck. Any advice?

When on=line banking, or checking my cell phone bill, I can't download my statement or phone bill, the page will pop up, but will remain blank. No problem with I.E. What setting needs to be changed???

When I'm on a secure site, like my bank, or my cell phone account, I can't download my bank statement or cell phone bill. If I click on my bank statement, it will take me to a page with the list of my statement months. When I click on a month, another page will appear that says "about blank", but then nothing appears on the page. I'm guess it's a security setting, or a proxie setting, but I don't know which, or what to change it too. Help?? If I use I.E. (which I hate to use) everything works okay. No I don't have any firewall that I know of that could affect the Desktop app. I have reviewed the link you sent across and the results are as follows:
1. Make sure you can connect to the internet.
Yes, internet is all good... no problems here.
2. Make sure that you can access secure sites:
Yes, I can access secure sites as tested by the example in the list (https://www.adobe.com).
3. Check your hosts file.
Test successful after going to: https://lm.licenses.adobe.com
Moving on to reset the hosts file...
I've followed the instructions and I get to "Select the hosts file and open it".
If I simply double click, then the default is to open in TextEdit.
Once open, I go to find File > Save As, but it only says, "Save a Duplicate" and then once I save a duplicate, I don't know where to save it because the Save window only shows the basic folders and I don't know how to get back into the /etc folder from the Private files.
More instructions please, if possible?

I cannot download a statement from my bank.

When I try to download the statement from my bank, I get this error message:
/Users/XXXX/Downloads/pdfStatementBody-1.jsp could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred.
Try saving to disk first and then opening the file.
I can't save it to disk, because there is one button to click, and this is the only message I get. Same result in Safari or Firefox. Does anyone know how to access a .jsp file? I also checked the Java on my computer, and the check said that it's working fine.

There is no 11.5 updates avaialble for Adobe Reader. Also deleting the Adobe Reader 11 is not right way to uninstall. Could you please do a clean uninstall of Adobe Reader 11 or what ever version you have from Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall Program and then re-install the latest Adobe Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

How can I get my online banking statement to download. It keeps saying download unsuccessful.

Bank statements downloads

they appear to down load but just appear blank. i've saved them to desktop and tried to open with preview and says can't open because file is empty...
the file is empty........ not the bank account....
3 different banks. 1 banks statements open. two don't.   i've been accessing these statements this way for years and just now can't.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
          Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
and check the box marked
          Allow Plug-ins
Then click
          Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

In the Finder, select
          Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.
