Downloading Final Cut Express 2 update

Hello, this may seem like a simple question, but, how do I download the update for FCExpress without the internet. I have recently purchased a new imac and have not yet got the right cable to connect it to the internet. I am trying to use final cut express for the first time but as I don't have an AGP card it won't work. I'm on a PC at the moment and when I try to download the update it says file size form and there appears to be no download button. Is there any other way of downloading the update without my mac being connected?

It sounds like you have an Intel iMac. You can ignore the AGP error message, but you will find that FCE2 does not run well on the Intel iMacs.
You really should upgrade to FCE 3.5, which is the correct version for the Intel Macs. You will have to purchase it; it cannot be downloaded.

  • Final Cut Express HD update on cd?

Recently bought imac g5 isight. Couldn't get final cut express HD to work as it did not recognise the PCI card. Apple provide an update to fix this but it must be downloaded via the net. Can i not acquire this somehow on disk from apple as i am using the imac in a house without a phoneline and hence no internet connection?

Could you not download it elsewhere onto a USB drive or burn to CD? I think that will be the best route.

  • Download Final Cut Express 4.0.1 impossible,help

After a new load of Os 10.5.8 (PowerMac G5) and load of Final Cut Express 4.0 no update for Version 4.0.1 is possible. After Softwareupdate: System has the newest version. What can I do better?

I just figured out how to install the 4.0.1 update in Mavericks. The problem is that the old Software Update mechanism is completely gone in Mavericks.
    1. Install Final Cut Express 4.0 on a computer running Mountain Lion (but I’m sure that Lion or Snow Leopard would work, as well).
    2. On the command line use “sudo softwareupdate --download FCE401-4.0.1”.
    3. Go to /Library/Updates/ and look in the various folders therein for FinalCutExpress4.0.1Update.pkg. This is about 128 MB in size.
    4. Copy that installer .pkg file to your Mavericks computer and double-click.
Presto! This will update your previously installed Final Cut Express 4.0 to Version 4.0.1.

  • Where can I download Final Cut Express 4.0.1?

I recently reinstalled Final Cut Express 4.0 on an iMac running Mountain Lion.  Unfortunately, I am are not getting the option to download the Final Cut Express 4.0.1 update via the "Software Update" page.  4.0.1 is essential to work with certain codecs such as AVCHD.  Where can I find the update?  I am unable to find it in Apple's Support downloads.  The only thing available there is an old FCE 2 update.  Any ideas?

It could be that your computer or its OS is too new to download a long obsolete app.
If you have access to an older machine you could try installing on that and migrating across  ........  though I've no idea whether it would work.

  • Final Cut Express HD Update?

Can anybody tell me when the last big update for Final Cut Express HD was and do you think it will be dropped and superseded by iMovie?

Final Cut Express HD was the name of v3 and v3.5. Apple dropped 'HD' from the name when they released FCE v4. If you install FCE v4 on an Intel Mac, there is an update available called 4.0.1. That is the 'latest' update.

  • Final Cut Express Needs Update for MBP

Well the lovely people at the Apple store sold me Final Cut Express for my MBP and I'm getting the AGP error... finding out I'm not alone helps somewhat. Just wondering when they are going to update it. LiveType is working, which I'm very thankful for. Seriously though, If it's not gonna work, why'd they sell it to me

Peter, that's actually a poor comment - as a customer of one of the more pricy brands, how much work do you have to invest to get basic Wall Mart style service? On apple.com they actually tell us how much faster Final Cut works on intel, so how much homework is required to find out it doesn't even run on it, yet? I bought my MacBook Pro expressly to let this application run on it - and my provider remembered the incompatibility immediately after I came back into the store, mumbling about AGP and stuff - look: I just want to edit films - not open source files and type things in there (and then FCE actually runs slower than on G4, as an aside). Your comment is wrong.

  • Is there any final cut express 4.0.1 update available?

Is there any final cut express 4.0.1 update available? I want a RELIABLE source to update this, preferably by APPLE, Inc.
I'm VERY disappointed that APPLE does not have that on the website. I SUPPORTED you by buying a product and in return you do NOT have a place for us to install upgrades especially if consumers like me got a new laptop. That is just plain MEAN. I mean, REALLY.
Thank you and I hope to get this as soon as possible.

Final Cut Express was discontinued 3 years ago (June 2011).  It was replaced by Final Cut Pro X.
FCE is no longer supported by Apple.  That does not mean it won't run on Lion, Mt. Lion, Mavericks or Yosemite, however with each successive upgrade to OS X it becomes less & less likely that FCE will be installable or even run properly after being installed, because it is so much older than the current versions of OS X.   That said, the FCE 4.0.1 update is still available through Software Update provided you already have FCE 4.0 installed on your Mac.  The 4.0.1 update is not available "publicly," meaning you can't search for it on Apple's website and find it; FCE 4.0 has to already be installed on your Mac and you have to update it via Software Update on your Mac.
One forum contributor DID find a way to download the 4.0.1 update without using Software Update, see this thread -> Where can I download Final Cut Express 4.0.1?
My advice is to move to Final Cut Pro X since you have a Mac running Mavericks (10.9.5).
I understand your frustration at having purchased some software and now you can no longer use it.  However, obsolescence is a natural part of the technology world.  FCE is now obsolete and has been replaced by Final Cut Pro X.   If you have OS X Lion or any later version of OS X installed on your Mac, you should be looking at Final Cut Pro X.

  • The next Final Cut Express

    Hello,
Will Final Cut Express be update like Final Cut Pro and Studio ?
    Thk!
    Bonjour,
Est-ce que Final Cut Express sera mis à jour comme Final Cut Pro et Studio ?
    Merci !
iMac (Intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

In terms of what? FCE will eventually be updated as a program, yes, but it may be awhile and the specific upgrades that FCP6 carries over FCP5 are not really relevant to FCE. If you are talking about the other applications in the new Final Cut Studio 2, FCE has always been a standalone program and (as far as I expect) will not be shipped with the other programs of FCS2.

  • Final Cut Express 4.01 quits on startup

Hi, I just installed Final Cut Express 4, updated to 4.01 and I can't get past the startup screen. It quits immediately after. It also did this before I updated it.
I have tried trashing my preferences. I've done a thorough re-install and still... can't get past that screen. I did a full software update including firmware and then reinstalled, still, no luck.
I have plenty of RAM and free disk space, don't have any 3rd-party hardware connected, and I have the latest version of Quicktime.
The only possibility is the graphics card, but I'm pretty sure that meets the specs as well as it does say that Quartz Extreme is supported in my system profiler.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?
Thanks very much for your help!

I know you said you trashed the preferences and reinstalled FCE but did you do it properly ...... most people don't.
They just delete the .plist and drag the FCE application to the trash.
This is a complete waste of time.
Take a look at this short troubleshooting guide:-
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24195?viewlocale=enUS&locale=enUS
I would suggest deleting the preference files first EXACTLY as described here.
If that doesn't work, COMPLETELY UNINSTALL FCE as described here and reinstall it.

  • Update final cut express from version 1.0.0

Are there any updates available for final cut express 1.0.0? Downloadable? Whats the most current version?
    iMac G4 (snowcone)   Mac OS X (10.4.7)
    Message was edited by: donkilometron

Last update (years ago) was 1.0.1 - I can't imagine that it is a dramatic improvement!
Your best bet would be to buy the FCE 3.5 upgrade for $99.
The program itself is considerably superior but the inclusion of LiveType and Soundtrack is quite mind-blowing.
Those 2 extra programs are alone worth the upgrade price.

  • Getting Final Cut Express 4.0.1 update through Software Update

I just bought and installed the Academic version of Final Cut Express 4.0. As per the System Requirements on Apple's FCE website, I meet the current requirements of Mac OSX 10.4.10 or higher (10.4.10) and QuickTime V7.2 or higher (7.5.5). However, the version 4.0.1 update does not show up in Software Update; but I did get a PluginManager update. How can I get the bug fixes, etc. as I've read there is not a separate update download available?

The 4.0.1 update may not available to you because it does not add any functionality that is available to your computer. It adds AVCHD formats which are only available on Intel machines. At least that's what I surmise. The newer AVCHD formats may require a newer version of QuickTime which is only available with 10.4.11 or Leopard. There may be other reasons the update is not appearing on your computer including but not limited to the naming of the software, its position in the Applications folder, the presences of receipts in the correct folders, permissions settings on your disk, and other factors.

  • I am traveling with my macbook pro and I forgot to install final cut express and quicktime pro before I left. How can I in a way download them for free on my laptop from where I am

I am traveling with my macbook pro and I forgot to install final cut express and quicktime pro before I left. How can I in a way download them for free on my laptop from where I am? I need them and don't want naturally to buy them again!!!
    Thank you

Assuming you purchased QT Pro, you can always download it again at no extra charge by logging in to your Apple account.
Regarding FCE, there is no way to download & install the product.  You need an original FCE install disk and your FCE serial number.
Final Cut Pro X (aka FCPX) can be purchased & downloaded from the App Store.

  • Combo update from 10.5.2 to 10.5.5, Final Cut Express v. 4.0 affected?

    Hi,
So, my question is will my current version of Final Cut Express 4.0 (bought it pre -installed with my iMac) also have to be updated if I do the combo updated from OS 10.5.2 to 10.5.5?
If so, is this a free update?
Should I update FCE before running the combo update?
    Thank You

    ^^^
The only reason i might be updating is because I'm getting Pro Tools LE to learn about their new features. And they highly recommend installing it on 10.5.5.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Open the Mac App Store and go to Purchases. Do you see Final Cut Pro X listed?
If so, open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and delete Final Cut Pro X. Then, go to the Mac App Store and download Final Cut Pro X for free.
If you don't see it in Purchases, see if it's hidden, and if so, unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928 If it doesn't work, contact with the Mac App Store support > http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact
