Downloading Raw Images

Hi there
I am using Adode Photoshop Starter edition 3.0 to download photos from my Minolta A200 onto my laptop using a card reader.
I don't have any problems apart from when I have Raw files on the card.
It will download all the files and ignore the Raw files.
Is there any other way to download these from my memory card.

PSA SE does not support RAW.
You would need to look at Photoshop Elements, which has a greatly enhanced organizing tool, which does have this support.

I'm using Bridge 3. When I download RAW images, all I get is the same amount of thumbnails that say CR2 (on a blue banner) on a page with a gray lens. What's happening?

They're all blue with a flower motif. Does this
information help narrow down the possibilities any?
It still indicates you have not the right ACR plug in for the file type of
Raw you are using or your install of ACR plug in is fault.
In PS check in menu Photoshop / about plug ins / Camera Raw. Inhere should
be only one version visible and it should say 4.6 in your case if you have
installed that plug in correctly.
If this is correct check if your camera that produced the Raw files is
listed in the supported dSLR for that version. Check this link and if it
does not work for you (many links are country specific on the Adobe site) do
a Google search on: " supported raw files for ACR 4.6"

If that camera is not in the list find the latest DNG converter (version
6.1, it is in the list on the Adobe site / support / updates and search for

I'm unable to download raw images from my canon 70D to PH elements 12, downloaded camera raw 8.2 as I saw in a discussion but still unable to convert images. In the "select images" window the images are soft and cannot be selected. What am I doing wrong? Any help?

Downloading raw images from Canon Rebel XTi and problem with Border FX

Aperture no longer downloads raw images from my Canon 400D / Rebel Xti and installed Lexar Professional UDMA card. I am able to download images to my Dell laptop. This is a new phenomenon only occurring since about 10 days ago. I am currently able to download images from my Canon 5D.
Also, my computer has locked up 4 times today when I have been starting Border FX. I have seen a screen saying that I have to restart my computer by holding down the on button. I have the most recent version of the Border FX software.
Any suggestions please?

Join the crowd! I just started to experience exactly the same thing on both of my systems. Apparently the latest raw camera drivers broke something related to Canon Rebel cameras. I'm using the Rebel XT.
I tried a quick experiment the other day. I shot a bunch of test photos forcing the camera to store them as JPEGs. I was able to download those without a problem. I then forced the camera back to raw mode and shot a few more pictures on the same memory card. The JPEGs that I was able to download previously no longer will download and neither will the raw files.
I tried reverting to the older camera raw driver on my notebook but for some reason it won't let me do that. I haven't tried reverting on the desktop yet.
Hopefully this problem is fixed quickly. I've got a ton of pictures from a recent vacation I'd like to off load.
By the way, this affects the iPhoto, Aperture and Image Capture apps.

Downloading RAW images in Elements 13

I've just bought a Canon 7D Mk11 and found that I was unable to download raw images into Elements 10. It was suggested that I might need a newer version of Elements and so have installed version 13 on Windows 7. Still wouldn't accept the raw files. The downloaded the appropriate raw plug-in/dng converter (8.7). Elements go through the process of searching for media and then transferring files. upon completion of this process it says that nothing was downloaded as the files were either damaged or of a file type not supported. I've never had this problem before with either PSE 7 & 10. Pulling my hair out. Any ideas would be appreciated.

When you did the update for ACR 8.7, did you go to the Help menu and select Updates?
If you load the edittor and go to Help -> About Plugins -> Camera raw does it report 8.7?
My version 13 on windows 7 recognises my Canon 7D Marl II raw files.

Can't download RAW images from A7 II

I just got an A7II and can't get RAW images to download to my Mac through the Data Image Converter. If I shoot Raw+JPEG the JPEG will download but the RAW does not. If try to download RAW images I get the message "No images on the memory card meet the download conditions. Can anyone help me with this?

Downloading Raw Images into Aperature

This topic has to do with getting Raw images into Aperture and not the application it's self.
There happens to be several ways to download images from a memory card (from the camera to the USB port, from a card reader to the USB port, from a card reader to the Firewire port and from a card adapter to the PCMCIA port).
The question I have is one of these better than rest for downloading RAW files. Connecting the camera to the computer is the most direct way to do it, but when there are several memory cards to go though it easier to a card reader.

I have a firewire reader. It takes less than a minute to pull all the images off a 1 GB card (Lexar 40x or 80x) and into Aperture.
It's funny that it's so fast, as it's substantially faster to pull the images off the card than it is off of disk. Some serious optimization there. Demos well, I figure

I just switched to Mac from PC and I am not able to download my RAW images (from Canon Mark iii) into Lightroom 4. Anyone know a fix for this problem?

Once you buy LR 5 you can install any of the LR 5.x versions where LR 5.7 just came out and supports the newest cameras, like the Nikon D750 or Canon 7D Mark II along with all earlier models.
It would be wise to download and install the LR 5.7 as a trial and make sure it works for you before buying the upgrade. The minimum OS is 10.7 and Win 7, I think, so if you’re on XP or Vista or OS X 10.6 then you’re out of luck.
The various version of LR are available on the Adobe Updates site: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
They will run in trial mode for 30 days or until you enter appropriate serial numbers.

NIKON D60 CAMERA. Shoot Raw images at times. These get downloaded to MacBook Pro. Could someone please instruct me how to change Raw images in the MacBook Pro to JPeg?
Also, is raw the reason I cannot burn images to a disc?
And, does Nikon NX2 Photoahop 10 interface well with my Apple computer?

No, the format of the file shouldn't be interfering with burning them to a CD. How are you creating the CD?

I'm unable to download RAW images from my Canon Rebel T2i to my flash drives. JPEGS are fine. WHY?

Suddenly I'm unable to download my RAW images from my Canon Rebel T2i to my flash drives when just a few weeks ago I was able to. What happened? I can download JPEGS just fine. No error codes, software works like normal, i see the previews and when i go to my flash drives to open the files the dated file is there but it opens with no images. I've reformatted the memory card twice now, so that's not the problem. Any ideas from all my new friends out there. Thank you.

We may need more info. What are your flash drives? What are you using to copy? What computer/OS do you use?
Normally a file is a file... a computer doesn't care what type of file it is. Whether or not any software knows how to hope the file wont impact the computer's ability to copy it. This makes me wonder if it is being copied, but can't be opened (e.g. if the software you are using doesn't know how to deal with a Canon T2i RAW file (.CR2).
RAW is more of a "concept" than a "standard". Every camera model's RAW file will be slightly different. If you want to open an image in, say, Photoshop... they provide "Adobe Camera RAW" updates for their software and you'd need the update that supports your T2i (btw, when Adobe releases a "new" version of software, they tend to stop providing RAW updates for all previous versions of that software. So depending on what version of software you use... the only way to get it to work with RAW may involve having to upgrade the software (there are some cumbersome work-arounds.))

I am having difficulty downloading my raw images to photoshop elements 11. Files are currently on a thumb drive, but I don't know how to download to elements. I have the thumb drive plugged in --- not sure where to go from here. I have verified that I have the plug in - version 7.1.0.354.
Any ideas?

You can either drag them in Organizer workspace or import the folder. Or you can also use Adobe Photo Downloader. There are many options listed here http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/getting-started/import-camera-or-card-reader.htm l

Can I download raw images from my Panasonic Lumix DMC - FZ45 to my iMac using Aperture3 ?

I want to start using Aperture3 as long as I can handle Raw images from my Panasonic DMC-FZ45 with it but that camera is not on the list - will it work?

If the camera is not on the list then Aperture will not be able to handle the RAW images from the camera.
It's surprising as this is a relatively old camera, so if it's not in Aperture by now I would tend to think it won't be included. You could download the trial version and see what happens just to make sure.
One other thing, you could convert the RAW images to DNG using the Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter for Macintosh and then import those.

Recent issues downloading RAW images to iPhoto from EOS 40D

Hi,
I've been using iPhoto to process RAW images from my EOS 40D for ages without any issues, but I'm now getting an error message saying it can't import the files from the camera as they are in an unknown format. I've reinstalled iPhoto, but no change. I can't recall the last update to iPhoto, but I get the feeling it was fairly recent, and this may coincide with that. Is anyone else having the same problem, or has anyone got any ideas?

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Just purchased Elements12, can't download Raw images from SD card from new Panasonic Lumix DMC-Gx7. CF card from Canon 5D works fine. I understand I have to upgrade camera raw, does anyone know how to do this and where to fine it. Please and thank you..

Can you please tell us which operating system you are running on and details of the camera producing the raw images (Make & Model).
Each different camera model has it's own unique format of the raw file and so the camera raw has to be updated occasionally. Gives us the details above and we can help you further.
I'm new with windows 8 and brand new computer

FWIW, my Help/Updates does not work. My ACR is 8.0 and each time that ACR has been updated during the last year I have tried to update it through Help/Updates and each time I have received in the Application Manager window that opens the text, "Your applications are all up to date." I suppose it is possible that the fact that I have an updated copy of LIghtroom (5.6) is confusing the Application Manager.
Because I do all my Raw processing in LR it does not really bother me that the PSE 12 ACR plugin does not update.
