how can i get whether IMesh or MIMI or even skype software to download to my hp webos I am a law student and at times these applications are necessary. I saw the eread black law dictionary but got error message something about Ilivid..

Cannot download software/applications etc

I just hard my HD replaced and restored my imac back to its previous state via Time Machine then downloaded a patch for COD4 and an update for TV Eye all good! I then let Time machine do a big back up as it would do after the re-instore, fine.
Right back in business! I wanted to install Skype in preference to iChat so went to their site and pressed download, nothing the web page went to a black blank page, hmm okay will try again in a few minutes, same result! Checked security settings in Safari, they are okay. No problem I will switch over to Firefox and try the download from there, same result! So disabled my Anti Virus program and checked my Security settings on the Mac and tried again, same black blank page when pressing download.
Think again, maybe Skype is blocking their downloads for some reason, lets go to the Apple site and see if I can download something simple like a Widget as a test. Nope no joy seems like I cannot download anything. I am missing a trick here but cannot see it HELLLLLLLLLLP!!

Ummmmmmmm Yes to your question.
I sorted it anyway. Apparently you cannot do a fully sucessful Time Machine restore through the Utilities option ' Restore System from TM' when first inserting your OS disk. Although it will recover all your data it does have a tendancy to drop some system operating files, in my case causing the aforementioned problem. You need to install your OS fully then choose from the menu that automatically pops up 'Copy all files and folders from TM'. Then run the Apple updates to get you back up to date.
I didn't see that option because the tech guys re-installed my OS on the HD they replaced before I got it back. I just inserted the OS disk again and did what I said not to do.

Can the iPad download software/applications from the web that you can then upload to your Desktop or Laptop like the Palm TX can? (yes I've got one just for that reason but I'd love to have an Apple branded product)
So far the Apple Store people don't seem to know.

YES, exactly.... I do NEED a small light weight device (smaller and cheaper than a Mac laptop) to carry around with me every day to download software to that I can download to use on my home computer.
The Palm TX was such a device that served such purpose... Somewhat over priced for for its small storage capacity and no longer available but a good product idea.
Except for the once a month NEED to download large applications (mostly version updates), I don't really have a NEED for cable broadband @ $49.99 per month ($599.88 per year) or DSL @ $39.99 per month (479.88) per year.
My email, shopping, banking and such only NEEDS dial-up @ $99.00 a year, which is what I have.
The fact people feed their WANTS instead of choosing only to feed their NEEDS is why many people are in debt often over their heads.
I haven't had any built up debt for decades. I try very hard to only take care of my NEEDS and not squander money on things I only WANT but don't really NEED.
I LOVE the Mac OS, it's one of the best OSs out there (priced good too)..... Next to Xerox's "Small Talk" (in-house R&D only) and Unix. But Apple's pricing of computers may drive me to the Dark Side or the Gray Side.. Linux .
And I'm also hoping that USB 3 will be soon on Macs so I don't have to pay the extra freight for Firewire as USB 3 will serve my NEED for faster than USB 2 speeds to the external devices I NEED to use.

You can only download a trial once, so you need to download it when you can use it.

As long as the apps are still available in the store, and you use the same iTunes accouns as your originally used to buy/download them, then you should be able to re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

When you decided to upgrade because you were having serious problems, you jumped from the frying pan into the fire. If the problem was the system, then reinstalling the current system is the way to go. But you had several application quiting, some from Apple and some not. so the quitting was something affecting all of them, and of course the system could be the culprit, but the system is not the only possible culprit. Replacing the system when it was not the problem only buries the problem under a whole new pile of problems.
Before reinstalling a system you need to make your Mac as trouble free as possible and back up as much as you can. There is a wide variety of problems that can affect many applications. Here is a short list:
Font problems. Use Font Book to verify your fonts. Delete or disable bad fonts.
Disk, permission, or cache corruption.
Incompatible Startup Items, Login Items, interface modifications or menu extras.
Corrupted preferences other than those of the affected applications. Check preferences system-wide using the freeware applications Preferential Treatment or AppleJack
Insufficient RAM or lack of free disk space.
Programming errors. Bugs in application code are not uncommon. For third-party applications, check the vendor's Web site for updates to the application, reports of known bugs, or for information on how to contact the vendor for support. A bad program might be grabbing up too much RAM and causing the other applications to fail as well.
Corrupted application. Check the logs to see where the crash occurred.
Other software problems or conflicts.
Corrupted Mac OS X installation. Perform an Archive and Install of your current Mac OS X.
Hardware problems. Run the Apple Hardware Test that came with your Mac.
Try to discover the culprit:
Open Console, located in the Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
Check the Console and System logs for messages that may be related to the problem.
To open these logs, in Console choose File > Open, then choose:
Open Console Log and Open System Log
Messages in these logs are time stamped when the message was logged.
Scroll the log windows to the approximate time when the problem occurred.
Details of the messages may provide additional clues you use in troubleshooting.
Do not post an entire log to a forum. Post only the messages referring to the function or application causing a problem.
AppleJack is a free program you run in 'Single User Mode.' Install it. When you want to run it, press Command s until you get a black screen with text. Type 'applejack' and run the repairs.

If your profile is correct you're already on the final version of Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Sure it wasn't Lion it was asking for?
If that's the only version available on the app store, you'll need to source a copy of the iWork '09 DVD - not cheap now - only available via Amazon or eBay etc.

I can't download any applications on my macbook pro, it starts but then nothing happens

Every time I try to download any application, for example today I am trying to download Gimp for Mac, the window goes blank and in the browser it looks like it's loading but then nothing comes up. I have tried creating a new user account but the same thing happens when I download in that one. I think it is a system issue but I am not technically minded and so struggle to figure out what is happening. I can download itunes, apps from the app store. But nothing else. Even flashplayer updates don't download. Can someone help me because it is increasingly frustrating! Install downloaded software other than on C: drive

I purchased this morning and downloaded the latest 64 bit version of Elements and Premiere to my E: drive (C: drive has Windows Ultimate 7 64 bit only).
I have six files downloaded - one Application file and 7zArchive file set each for Photoshop Elements, Premier Elements and Premiere Elements Content.
When I ran the Application file for PSE it installed OK - mostly on the E: drive where I directed the install browser - but also put a large number of files on my C: drive under a Program Data directory.
When I run the Premiere Elements Application file it will not install and produces an error message along the lines of 'insufficient space or admin rights'.
I am guessing that as there is now only 3GB free on the C: drive this is why I am getting the failed install (I have the admin rights).
So how can I install the whole - or majority of files - on the E: drive where there is 83GB free?
Any help greatly appreciated.

That was what I feared.
Might have been helpful for Adobe to publish exactly what space - and where is required - in a pre-download checklist.
I can't think of any other software we have - other than the operating system - which HAS to be on the C: drive.
