use a PREPARED statement for your sql code, here's one of mine:
this.st = this.conn.prepareStatement("UPDATE names SET FName = ?, sName = ?, Company = ?, mail = ?, Phone = ?, Password = ? WHERE mail = ?");
        this.st.setString(1,fName);
        this.st.setString(2,sName);
        this.st.setString(3,company);
        this.st.setString(4,nmail);
        this.st.setString(5,phone);
        this.st.setString(6,pwd);
        this.st.setString(7,mail);
        this.st.executeUpdate();As you can see, in the sql values are represented by ?
These values are poulated with this.st.setString.

  • There is a way to hack a mac pro even if you have a password. How do I prevent hacking?

    My friend can actually hack a mac pro just by restarting it even if you have a password to protect your mac. My mac is curently mavericks.
    Steps: 1.When you open a mac with a password in mavericks, click switch user.
                2. After the page loads, click restart.
                3. After the computer shuts down and is turning on again, press command s.
                4. My friend just typed some code and managed to change my password.
                He told me the password and i changed it back, but i wanted to know how to prevent this hack from happening again on my Mac pro.

    Don't let anyone use your computer including your friend. It's easy enough to change a password in single-user mode. Just put a master password - firmware password - on your computer to prevent that kind of access. Better yet change friends.
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         When the menubar appears select Firmware Password from the Utilities menu.
         and follow instructions.

  • Amazon downloader may prevent Snow Leopard Startup

    I installed Snow Leopard on my two Macs about 3 weeks ago - no problems so far.
    This morning , for the first time ever, in more than 5 years of using Macs , my Mac Pro failed to startup.
    By pressing shift while switching on I was able to get it going in 'Safe ' mode ( I had to look that up!).
    The only thing I have changed in the last 24 hours was to install the Amazon downloader - a version said to be OK for Snow Leopard.
    I found that application and put it in the trash, having learned that some 'installers' leave things in the startup list. I couldn't find an 'uninstall' command for the downloader , but equally couldn't find any mention of it in startup file lists.
    The Mac started OK after shutdown - I'm suspicious about the Amazon downloader and have advised the software company responsible.

  • My account hacked & downloads initiated by hacker from Taiwan

    Hi Support,
    I got a automated msg on 28/Dec/2013, that my "credit card" information has been modified & also couple of downloads have been initiated.
    I have NEVER modified any of the credit card info & neither initiated the said downloads. (someone from Taiwan has hacked into my apple account)
    My account has been hacked & has been compromised. Please let me know immediately how you can initiate action & also ensure that no charges has been levied & also can any action be charged against the offender ?
    Many Thanks,
    Girish

    moreso with my personal data & my credit card details getting compromised, thanks to Apple
    Why "thanks to Apple?" There seems to be a lot of misinformation floating around out there, and a lot of people are pointing fingers at Apple with no evidence whatsoever.
    Online accounts of all kinds get hacked all the time. The fact that there are a lot of Apple IDs getting hacked from Taiwan right now does not mean that this must be a problem caused by Apple.
    Don't make assumptions that might blind you to the everpresent dangers of having any kind of account on an internet server.
    I dont find the "Two-Step Verification" menu/option under "Password and Security" menu in my account.
    I didn't realize that this was limited by country, but I would bet that KP is correct on that point. That's too bad. If you can't enable this feature, that makes it a lot more important for you to use very good passwords, both on your Apple ID and any rescue e-mail addresses. Don't assume your password is safe just because it has upper and lowercase letters and numbers... that is not necessarily the case. For best results, use different lengthy, random passwords for every account, and use a password manager to keep track of them.

  • Open Directory & Firewall: How to prevent hack attacks

    With my current Open Directory configuration user accounts get disabled as soon as 12 login attempts fail.
    Now the problem is the following: there are periodic attacks trying to hack user accounts. They do this by trying typical user names and common password I guess (e.g. password=user name, password=123, ...). I enforce a rather strict password policy so allowing only 12 guesses should be kind of safe.
    And typically they do not even guess an existing login name .... except for one. I discovered this issue because one user came to me twice this week because his account was disabled. So I finally found out that his username was in a hacker list. I solved the problem by making an new account with different login name. But that's not a good solution for the future.
    Is there a better way? What I would like for example is disable login attempts from a certain host for a couple of hours after sufficient many failed login attempts. Or even better: putting these hosts into a ban list until I free them manually.
    Maybe such things can be done with the firewall (and if yes: how?).

    Preface: I am not fiscally tied to any product or service I might mention, I'm just a paranoid system administrator.
    I never like to see anyone directly expose a file server to the Internet. That is asking for the kind of trouble you're seeing or worse.
    The "best practice" I've adopted at my office is this: if a project office is large enough to warrant a file server, it is large enough to warrant a dedicated firewall appliance.
    The unit I have been purchasing for my projects lately is the Astaro ASG120. It is a small firewall box that not only does standard firewall duties, but also serves as a VPN endpoint for remote users, a VPN peer for site-to-site VPN connections, a web filter for managing end-user access to questionable sites, with virus scanning, and an email filter if I should choose to operate an email server at the project site.
    The appliance is not the cheapest on the market, but for the initial cost of about $2000 USD & an annual cost of about $800, the peace of mind is worth every penny.

  • Apple application support Error 2 windows with lastest upgrade download is preventing me from opening itunes, unistalled, reinstalled 3 times, please help.

    I recently downloaded the most current version of itunes automatically, got an error during the install process and was unable to open my existing itunes after that occurrance.  I unistalled and reinstalled 3 times. Says installed finished but when I try to open itunes I get the following pop up.
    Apple Application Support required.  Error 2 (windows error)
    Please help, I'm a Ballroom Dancer and need my music back.
    Thanks.
    Marty

    Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
    Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
    Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
    Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
    Does it install properly for you?
    If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Safari Download Location Tweak/Hack/Command Line

    Is there a non-standard way to make Safari ask for a location before each download?
    I know this is not an option in the standard (and limited) settings. I'm asking about something along the lines of a command line ("Launch Terminal and issue this command...") or a utility like the old Safari Speed (which, I know, doesn't do this...just using it as an example of type) or some .plist file I could manually edit and change a 1 to a 0 or something.
    Thanks,
    Byron

    Thanks.
    Control-click works if the link is directly to the file in question (like http://fileserver.com/fileyouwant.dmg) but tends to yield unsatisfactory results when the download link is actually a script or executable that prompts the server to begin sending a file. In that latter case, one can end up with a file like "download.exe" on my Mac instead of the file one actually wants.

  • AppleID Password stored locally and used by iTunes? How to prevent?

    Hi,
    I am using iTunes 10.5 now and was surprised that my latest purchase in Appstore (App Download, 3.99 EUR) was done by one-click, i.e. I didn't have to reenter my password. Oops? I did not set the "remember my password option" and I haven't been entering the password since several days - so I would have expected that I will be asked again. Feels like not 100% secure.
    1) I would like iTunes to re-ask for my AppleID Password any time before it costs money.
    2) And I would like to prevent iTunes from storing my Password locally - in order to prevent hacks that might try to steal my password...
    How can I enforce iTunes to do so?
    Tks in advance!

    I am having the opposite problem.  I do not get the option to remember my password, and iTunes requires me to log in twice every time I open it.

  • Flash Player will not download past 47% - "cannot contact reliable source" error everytime

    So just as the title states - I uninstalled Flash on my computer because it was giving me trouble. Now, everytime I try to redownload Flash for Firefox - it will not go past 47% download and the "Cannot contact reliable source" error comes up every single time. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit and I have Charter Security Suite for Antivirus if that helps.
    Never had this problem before when I downloaded Flash and now this is just plain stupid.

    F-Secure said that Adobe needs to submit the URL and IP addresses to them for removal from this blacklist.
    That's a two way street. My brother used TrendMicro for about four years before he got rid of it. TrendMicro's stance was "We build our product and update it. The rest of the world can keep up with what we do." When he was no longer able to update QuickBooks because of TrendMicro, he uninstalled it. They told him it was Intuit's responsibility to update their (TrendMicro's) IP database. That kind of arrogance is why Apple has surpassed Microsoft in recent years as the #1 tech company in the world. People won't keep using something that continually doesn't work, like Windows Vista and now 8 - Okay, 8 is more compatible than Vista was but it's far less user friendly UNLESS you're on a touch screen tablet, which means they NEVER should have developed it for desktop and laptop use.
    I worked for Intuit from 2003 to 2006 and dev people in Mountian View ran me through the update process for their websites. There are protocols that remain constant that should NOT blacklist a new update from a trusted primary, secondary and tertiary domain that's properly written. It's what prevents hack sites (like... just an example: "xxx.porn.adobe.com") from getting onto a whitelist. Any GOOD antivirus company will have databases that maintain that primary ptrotocol. If they don't they're doing things bassackwards.
    I spent six years testing all kinds of software for compatibility, including several antivirus apps (but not F-secure). After all that, I made a rule for myself:
    ANY software that interferes with other software, especially software that I use frequently, is gone. If there's a more compatible replacement, I'll use it instead... if not, I'll learn to get by without it.
    I do graphic  and web design by trade, and anything that hinders productivity is a liability. Be it photoshop plugins that crash the app, A/V that screws with FTP, or whatever.

  • I just bought a powerbook - week ago - acting totally buggy-have i been hacked due to poor security of lion?

    i was hacked with my old mac book i just bought a macbook pro - week ago it is acting totally buggy - tried 3 browsers safari opera and now firefox - won't download embeded video - just stops etc - what security 'fixes' are available for lion to prevent hacking battery component and malware installed

    You have not been hacked.  It's impossible to speculate about what exactly the problem is, since all you've said is that it won't download embedded video.  You may just need to update Flash, or you may be using a bad site, or you may have a bad internet connection...  impossible to say with such sparse data.  But it's not hacking and it's unlikely to be malware.  Regarding the malware issue, see my Mac Malware Guide.

  • My iPad Air won't download any apps or app updates.

    Okay, so my iPad Air has not been downloading any apps, when I tap update it brings the download icon up but does nothing. I stop it then start it again and the loading icon just spins constantly. It's sorta the same thing when I download an app or anything else. my wifi is fine and I can connect to the internet with safari or any of my apps, I even tried it from a friends network and it did the same thing.
    A List of things I have tried:
    1. Turn off/on IPad
    2. Reset iPad, (holding lock and home for 15 seconds)
    3.  Reset network settings
    4. Reset all settings
    5. updated iPad to iOS 8.1.2
    6. signed out of iTunes threw settings>iTunes and App Store>Apple id> sign out, then restarted the iPad and signed back in
    7. Downloading things from a different and working wifi connection
    none of that has fixed it, I seriously do not want to back up and restore if at all possible because 1 it's such a hassle and 2 I have such bad luck with backups, last time I did a backup and restored from it I lost the app data for 5 of my apps 3 of them being games I loved playing (infinity blade 3, gangster vegas, modern combat 4) because no matter what I did or how many times I restored from the backup those apps would not sync over to the iPad. I had read something that I should check the Downloads tab in the ITunes store to make sure there were no downloads stuck preventing other things from downloading, but recently I noticed the download tab is no longer an option on my bar in iTunes and no icon for it in edit. same with my iPhone 6. (why would Apple remove something like that?) I searched every inch of the iTunes store and even in view your apple ID i can't find the download queue anywhere.
    Am I overlooking the download queue? Did they remove it from iOS 8? Anything else I can try besides restoring? X.x this has been going on for to long now and I just got a Jot Touch for my iPad and wanted to download some apps i could use it with but I can't because of this, I'm also missing out on holiday stuff and new games :/ If anyone can help me with this I would love you forever.

    Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

  • Problem syncing, deleted itunes, re-downloaded it, and now my music won't show up...what do i do?

    Okay, so I connected my ipod to my windows computer after loosing it for a few months and it said something I downloaded was preventing my computer from igknowledging my ipod. I went through and deleted a bunch of stuff and still nothing worked. I downloaded the latest itunes, still nothing. so I decided to delete all things itunes from my computer and start fresh because most of my music I bought and it would be saved to my account. well, i went back through and yesterday it showed all my music their with the little cloud thingy next to them. i figured all was well until i opened it up a few hours ago and it had only two songs I had just perchased yesterday in my music list. I don't know what to do to get all my music and apps and podcasts back. I can deal with my ipod not connecting later. what do i do???
