DR solution for different OS

Hi,
I need help to design a solution. The details are as follows
The Customer has two primary servers - IBM and SUN at one site and another Sun Server at other site. They would like to use this SUN server as DR server for two primary servers.
The Application / database availibility is the key as this is an authentication application.
I undertand Oracle Hot stand-by can not be used as it requires same OS. Also hot stand in 8i can not guarentee data loss.
Oracle 9i Data Guard is not possible as they are on 8i and can not shift to 9i
They are considering to buy NetApps storage and then do storage to
storage block transfer. In this case also SUN to SUN is possible but cannot be implemented on IBM to SUN.
any comment ?

standby on different platform could only
be a variation of logical-stanby:
- logcal standby database (not sure if standbydb in 8i will do it all for you)
- explicit replication of all tables in the application: you have full control!
if you really need it in ora8i : build replication.

I'm looking for a nice solution for the following problem:
I'm measuring different data at the same time (with different devices).
I would like to save these data all in one array (or cluster?), but I
don't know exactly the way to do this. All values have corresponding
time values. So for one data type it would result in a 2d array,
wouldn't it? But how can I save different data types with their time
values in one array? Or should I take a cluster? And how can I get only
a certain type of data out of this array or cluster again? E.g. if I
only need data type "3" with its time stamps for evaluation? I would
really appreciate an example, I work with LV 7. Thanks!
Then - for evaluation - I only need one data type of these different
data. Which one I would like to choose via the frontpanel (it changes
from test to test). So, I thought of a case structure (where I can
choose which data type and correspondingly which evaluation way). The
evaluation steps for the different data types are quite the same, but
can vary in order of execution. I could write for every case the
(nearly) same evaluation steps, but this would take a lot of time, plus
if I need to change one step I need to change it in every case.
Does anybody know a better way?

There is "array subset", which allows you to get any desired subset from an array. If yoyu want entire rows or colums, use "index array".
To display the last 30 values in a chart, just feed the data to a chart with the history size set to 30 elements. The rest will fall into place.

Security Solutions for different environment / market segment?

Hi all
From what I know, network / server equipments are separated into different kinds of range such as Small Business, Medium Business, Large Enterprise and Telco (ISP) Level / Range.
Some companies have different range of antimalware solutions - such as Standard, NAS, SAN, Exchange and more.
Is there any certain strict need / requirement special clients (such as Military, Government or Telco) asked for? How does those special clients need / requirement compare to Small, Medium or Large Enterprise?

Yes, goretsky is correct -- larger companies/organizations need to have a good centralized management to monitor all of their machines on a single console/window. Another thing that they consider is a good and detailed report/s from their security solutions. Computer administrators from these large companies/organizations regularly create and submit reports to their superiors, so having a product that generates a good report is a plus for them.
Large companies/organizations also have a different setup since they have equipments that home users usually don't have like File Servers, Exchange Servers, Gateway/Proxy, etc. Having said this, they need additional protection for those types of machines/equipments.
On "special clients", I think their setup is very similar to large companies/organizations. They are just more cautious in terms of security that's why some of them (if budget permits) put on another level of protection which detects and/or prevents zero-day vulnerability attacks.
They will also have a different security software/application for their other "special" devices (machines that don't run on Windows, Virtual Environment, etc.).

One Solution Manager for different customers

Hi Guys!!
I am configuring a Solution Manager for different customers wich have a different S-users and different users to manage the solution manager system.
My problem is that there is only one SAP-OSS RFC destination where I can fill the data only for one of the S-users. From "solution_manager" transaction you can indicate the S-user too (Edit - Global Settings) but the same problem occurs, I can fill the gap only with one S-user and I have to change this one when I want to work with different S-user.
Can i configure the system to indicate different S-users depens on the user who I use to logon to solution manager system?

Functionality to use the SolMan for many customer numbers is already available or will be added in future Support Package Stacks.

Solution for: no audio in time line - conforming issues - unspecified error occurred

these are all the same issue and i have the solution for it.
Adobe has once again let down the non professional user but ignoring this bug. They have also deleted alot of my other posts on the adobe forums.. perhaps so you cannot receive help from me?? who freakin knows..
b Problem:
you import your footage and there is no audio in the time line. you see the audio clip there but no information in it. some people say its because of MPEG format but MPEG files works fine in Windows Movie Maker, Ulead, Pinnacle, Sony Vegas.. etc...
let it be known that its an Adobe Premiere issue.
b Solution:
b step 1:
close adobe premiere
b step 2:
open My Computer and go to tools at the top. From the drop down menu go to folder options. In folder options click the view tab. In the advanced settings section where it says 'Hidden files and folders' make sure 'show hidden files and folders' is selected.
b step 3:
open My computer and go to c:\ drive > Documents and settings. Now click into your user name (NOT 'All users') in my case its 'proGamer'. Now click into 'Application Data' > 'Adobe' > 'common' > 'Media Cache Files'.
b step 4:
in this folder find the files you were just trying to import by searching the name. in my case its file: 20081217030338. you will now see 3 different file types with the same file name you were importing: CFA, PEK, MPGINDEX. delete them all!
b step 5:
go back and open adobe premiere, open up your project again and it will automatically recreate those files you just deleted. hopefully correctly.
b NOTE:
If this hasn't worked then open your adobe premiere project, clear all trace of the files with no audio and start again from step 1. then after step 5 just import the files back into your project.
This has proved to work with every file i've imported that had the audio not conformed.
b your second option:
simply play your clip in WMV or VLC or what ever player you use and record the audio in real time in stereo by using some music editing like cubase or logic audio. you can also use something more friendly like 'recordpad' found here: http://www.nch.com.au/recordpad/screenshots.html now you can buy it from these guys or get it how ever else you like

I've read plenty of places that they know about the bug and are going to fix it. Will from Adobe said so in a few older posts. It's also listed as an issue in the 4.0.1 readme.
I agree that this is the most screwed up Adobe release ever but I doubt they're deleting your posts to hide it. Never know though.....

Dozens of multimillion dollar movies have been edited with Avid and Final Cut over the past few years. Adobe doesn't put forth any effort make Premiere a pro application. Because they pander to the consumers and prosumers they end up messing up the product for everybody.
Premiere Elements is for consumers, Premiere Pro should be for the 'Pros'

Is there a solution for Higher Ed Computer Labs?

I am an instructional Technician for the Photography Department at a Community College. We currently purchase and use the Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium here in the Photography, Graphics and Journalism departments. We have over 150 Macintosh computers licensed with your product and we are very interested in the Creative Cloud.
Currently we purchase the licenses for all of our student and faculty computers, we are hoping that you will be developing an education solution for computer labs like ours.
What we would like to see is an arrangement that would allow our students to subscribe to the Creative Cloud for a three-month period that would be paid for prior to the first day of classes. This would avoid classroom disruptions from students failing to pay if the subscription was on a month-to-month basis.
While I understand that the current Student and Teacher edition at $19.95 is a limited promotion, a price of $20–$25 per month or $75 for a three-month period would be less than the cost of a textbook and could be easily charged as a class fee.
A potential problem is that students sometimes do not use the same computer all the time. If students are taking multiple classes in different labs, they need to be able to access the programs on several computers. I am currently subscribed to the free trial month and my impression is that the subscription is dependent on logging in with an Adobe ID. If this is the case, students should be able to use this log in to access the software they need on whatever computer they are at as long as they have an active (paid) login, and are not logged in on another computer.
As it is everywhere in education, our program budgets are tight. The Creative Cloud would allow us to save a significant amount of funds while still offering the most current technology to our students and faculty. The ability to access any software we need and allowing students the ability to access the programs at school and at home will empower both our faculty and students. Additionally, the availability of cloud storage will allow students to work on files at home and at school seamlessly.
I am making several assumptions:
Pricing –
Student and faculty pricing will be available.
A price will be established for a three-month period to facilitate a college semester.
Access –
Students will be able to access the programs on more than one lab computer.
Is access controlled by logging in with an Adobe ID?
Once the software has been installed on a computer, will any student with an Adobe ID be able to access it?
We are hoping to be able to implement this by next fall, so I am anticipating that these details will be worked out before then.

Great to know this I will be sharing it with my professors also. To have the "team" version would be great! Many problems occur for students with portable storage units. The worst is forgetting to download a project and take it with you. which really hurts our timing on a project to completion. Also as the projects grow in size we can end up with storage issues as some files are very large. This sounds like a grand solution.

Stock valuation different for different storage location in same plant

Hi SAP Gurus,
Please provide me a detailed idea and solution for this.
My client has simulated several transactions in MM.
Say it has two storage location 1110 and 1120 under plant 1100
Now in 1120 there are stock movements pertaing to a project (includes stock transafers from 1110 and issues made to project)
Finally, the MB52 report is showing valuation of stock (unrestricted) at different rates for 1110 and 1120.
My client is raising issue, saying the value should be same for stock under a single plant as valuation is done at plant level.
Also, both the stock is under unrestricted category, so valuation should be same.
What could be the issue?
Any solution?
The auditors will raise issue over this.
Please help ASAP.

Hi Sumit,
In valuation using the moving average price (price control u201CVu201D), the system valuates goods receipts with the purchase order price and goods issues with the current moving average price.
So, for Plant 1110 the rate could be the PO price used for procuring the material whereas for Plant 1120, it is the moving average price and hence the difference in rates.
However the auditors would look after the Material Valuation at the Valuation Area level which is the Plant.

Different Password Policy for Different User Groups in ACS 4.2

Hi All,
Can some one provide a solution for the below requirement?
We do have ACS 4.2 appliance managing firewalls of different clients. The users are common i.e, helpdesk administrators. One of the client came up with setting different password policy for managing their devices i.e, the client wants to have min 15 characters as password length. We do have currently 8 characters as min password length. Can we change the password policy to min 15 characters only for managing the firewalls of this client whereas for all other client firewalls we feel better to have 8 characters as min password length?
It seems that these password policies are global & affects all the users.
This is something like, having two sets of password (for each user) policy depending on the client which he is going to manage.
For my knowledge, i think that this is not possible. But, thought to cross-check with experts!

Yor're correct. Password policy on ACS will affect all internal user. We can't create different password policies for diferent clients/connections/set_of_users
Password validation options apply only to user passwords that are stored in the ACS internal database. They do not apply to passwords in user records in external user databases; nor do they apply to enable or admin passwords for Cisco IOS network devices.

We had the same problem - how to deploy a number of identical applications, using each their own db.
(for training).
The solution we used is to wrap the entire application into different applications by using a very small
module called KURSUS01, KURSUS02 etc, that did nothing but call the start procedure of the main app.
Then in the dbsession connect, we made a call appname to get the application name, and appended the
first 8 chars to the dbname. Thus our dbnames now points to logicals name: rdbdataKURSUS01, rdbdataKURSUS02 etc.
All this allows us to deploy the identical apps in the same env, or change one version, and run both the old
and new program on the same pc and server at the same time (eg. KURSUS01 and KURSUS02).
I also think this is a kludge - but it works nicely!

I HAVE FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR THE FIRMWARE UPDA

I'm sure most all of you have had this same problem I <strike>had:</strike> When you try to install the firmware update it says 'Plug in your player'!!? A very frusterating message mainly when your player is CLEARLY plugged in. So here's how I came about my solution!?I endlessly searched on this support forum, and I found that several people had found the solution several different ways!? Then other people have tried other's solutions, and it worked for some, but not all!?The forums have obviously pointed the problem at the computer, and not the player. They are halfly right, the problem isn't what you do on the player, but it's what they do to the player. I figured that there was something that the succesfull posters?did in the mean-time between posts that the unsuccesfull posters didn't do. It also didn't make sense, like others said was the problem, that it was Windows Media Player!? They said that you needed to roll it back, downgrade, to WMP 9 or 0. This made absolutely no sense to me because when I brought up WMP , and 0 for that matter, it recognized 'creative ZEN touch' under the 'synch' tab. After I found the solution, sorry for writing so long about how instead of just what it is: I just wanted to make it clear that this is the solution, I told my dad what it was!?He said that it made perfect sense because when my older brother tried to upgrade his firmware on his Dell MP3 Player, a message said that:It must be fully charged!?Beore you mess up your computer deleting all of these files and waste your time, try plugging your player into the wall at the same time it's plugged into the computer!? Then run your firmware update and bravo!? You are back in buisness!?Here is what to do in a little easier reading format:?. Plug your player into the wall.2. a. Plug your player into the computer.?b. (your player, at least my ZEN touch, should have the 'Docked' screen up. I'm not completely sure how this comes about, but I think that it'll appear that way while downloading the firmware update.)? Is there a solution for my "files in use" installation problem with Adobe Reader XI?

I have tried repeatedly to download Adobe Reader XI (11.0.07), but I keep getting a "files in use" message that indicates my current version, Adobe Reader 8.1, is using files that need to be updated by the download's set up. The message directs me to close my Adobe Reader 8.1 and then continue, but when I receive it my Adobe Reader 8.1 is always closed. I am tempted to uninstall my Reader 8.1 and then try downloading Reader XI, but I am afraid I could be inviting even more trouble. I should mention the reason I am trying to download Reader XI is a notification I received in my computer's status box that indicates my Reader 8.1 is not working properly and suggests I download the latest version. I discovered the notification after I was unable to open a GIF file attachment. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

I tried to uninstall my Adobe Reader 8.1 in safe mode, as suggested above, but received a message which indicated that Windows installer could not be accessed. That was a strange message, because I have not had problems uninstalling programs in the past, and, after receiving the message, I tried uninstalling a different program in safe mode and had no problem doing so. I am now going to try your suggestion.
Honestly, these types of technical issues always leave me so frustrated. I do not have a high technology acumen, and because my laptop is six years old, I cannot get professional help without paying a hefty fee. Thank goodness for this forum. If the solutions suggested here do not work, I guess I will keep my laptop until my Adobe 8.1 gives out completely.

Mouse over solution for jdk1.0

hi all,
I am interested in making the equivalent of a mouse over solution for a java applet.
Basically I'll have approximately 100 Rectangle objects representing images on the applet.
When the person moves the mouse over these 100 rectangle objects, i'll use contains() method to determine if the mouse is over the object in question.
If true, the image will be changed to represent the mouse over event .
I thought for a msecond about looping through all the rectangle objects each time the mouse moves. but that seemed impractical since the mouse can move pretty quickly.
It seemed to me the best option was to extend the Rectangle object and put an event listener on it . so that the Rectangle object can be triggered at the same time or individually as needed in response to the mousemove event .
Does anyone have any thoughts about that ?
does anyone know how I would possible implement something like that for java 1.0

First thing i would try is to use another cable if available.

Planned Delivery Cost in MIRO for different freight vendor

Hi,
Kindly share, how to get rid of above issue:
1) PO created with a freight condition (FRA1 with a different vendor assigned to it under item conditions tab)
2) GR done, & all accounting entries were OK, (including freight costs in FR1 or FR3)
3) while doing MIRO with selection Planned-Delivery-Cost, Amount & Qty fields are "Blank" and auto flowing from Clearing A/cs
I found this error in both Domestic or Import POs.
I've read many threads, but could not find a clear solutions for the same.
