Draft email loses subject

When dealing with a number of draft emails Mail has a bug which affects the subject line by not saving whatever is typed in the subject field. This becomes apparent when opening up the draft email for editing. When in the view pane, the subject field is populated and can be copied and then pasted in the blank field of the opened draft. Any answers? Problem only seems to persist when there is more than one draft email. Problem affects iMac running 10.10.2.

I am having the same problem. Until Apple gets the problem fixed, the only way I can get the subject line to stay in is when a draft is first created (and before it is first saved), I put in an email address in the To: field and this seems to keep the subject line in. In the To: field, I usually put in the word test and include a reference specific to the draft (instead of a real email) so that it is not accidentally sent before it is finished. I am on a Macbook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Error in opening draft email saved with msg extension

I am attempting to create a email and save it on local hard disc. The email is a file having msg extension. So that it can be opened with MS Outlook. Also I want it to be in DRAFT mode. Like we can create draft email with MS Outlook. This message will have multiple attachmets.
Thus when user opens this file, it will get opened with MS Outlook and user will be able to edit the message text, TO/CC list, attachments.
I am using MimeMessage.writeTo(Outstream) API to save the message to a file, say C:\test.msg
But if I double click test.msg in explorer to open it, it gives error:
Can't open file C:\test.msg. The file may not exist, you may not have permissions to open it, or it may be open in another program.
Is it possible to create draft Outlook email message with msg extension?
If yes, how?

Outlook Msg files aren't as easy to write as you would believe. They are a propretary format that microsoft uses based on the DocFile format that Word and Excel uses.
If you did the MimeMessage.writeTo(out) and saved it to a .eml file Outlook Express will open it, but Outlook doesn't directly read this file type.
I've started on a library to allow the creation of Outlook msg files, right now it only allows you to set text, dates, long, and boolean values on the email message (which means you can set stuff like the recieved date/time, subject, body, to, from, etc), but it does not yet support attachments or extra recipents (CC, BCC, etc). I'll be updating the copy on my site as soon as I get the other stuff working (which isn't as easy as it sounds).
Priasoft has a library available that can do what you want however.

If that doesn't work (or if you can't get to the homescreen) then do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

Draft Email Body

Hi,
I would like to set a draft email fields.
Creating a new email and filling it's fields works fine, but if the email
exists my method fails.
I use c++ with following code:

ALREADY EXISTING DRAFT email's body -> it fails.
Trying to modify the emails SUBJECT works perfectly!!!
Why I need this:
Suppose we have a draft email, How could I create an email that has ALL
fields (including Attachments) as the original mail, except it's body ?!
(I would like to add something to it's body)
I would need this for work in my company, and would be very important. Any

My question is this: Is it possible to modify the subject, for example puting the variable sy-datum in the subject of the email?

can not believe it but did a system restor on windows vister and got it all back you can chose the date you want to restore you computer too and it worked sooooooo happy love it.

In MS Outlook 2010 Add in Create pdf- does not create pdf of draft emails- this maybe the case, but just wanted to make sure this is normal for the program- though I guess one can print as an Adobe pdf but it does not maintain the hyperlinks of email addresses etc. the functionality is compromised in a print vs create a pdf.

Here's a workaround by the team:
Right click on the message from Explorer list view or folder view and chose the option to convert to PDF.

Hi, one question & one suggestion...
What possible things are connected at home but not at the store, inlude every cable, etc.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Outlook 2010 using Exchange 2010 - cannot send this item after updating draft email

I have a client who has the following setup.
SBS 2011 server (Exchange 2010) and a Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server (with Office 2010 SP1 installed).
This particular user has a Windows XP PC with Office 2010 SP1 installed (joined to SBS 2011 domain).
This user creates a email at their office on their PC and saves it in draft to continue working on it when they get home.
At home they RDP into the terminal server and load outlook and start updating their saved (Draft) email. They then try to send it and the following error pops up. "Cannot send this item".
If they try to save the changes they have made it pops up with "The operation failed".
I have tried various settings all with the same results.
Office 2010, Office 2010 SP1, Online mode and Cache mode (on the Windows XP PC).
Any ideas?

OK. After further testing I have narrowed it down to the email signature?
If I save a draft email in Outlook on the Fat client (Windows XP + Office 2010), then go straight into Drafts folder and open the email and add one line of text and try to send or save again it fails.
If I don't have a signature, it works fine.
I currently trying to determine what part of the signature it doesn't like (it is quite a large signature, multiple images and a disclaimer etc). I'm having mixed results - I can remove the signature totally from the draft email and then it will save
or send fine.
Strange that it can save the email to Draft in the 1st place but doesn't like updating it a 2nd time???
I have also created a new outlook profile (online mode) with the same results.

If your main account is gmail follow the instructions below:
Quit Mail.app.
Log into Gmail in your favorite web browser.
Click on the gear menu and select Settings.
Click on the Labels tab.
Under System Labels, next to Drafts, click on show if unread and uncheck the Show in IMAP box. Now disable Store draft messages on the server.
Launch Mail.app.
Select Mail → Preferences…
Click on the Accounts button in the toolbar.
Click once on the account name and then click the Mailbox Behaviors tab.
Uncheck the Store draft messages on the server box.
Close the window and opt to save your changes when prompted.
Follow the steps above and your draft messages should "magically" reappear in your draft folder on Mail. Here is the full link:

FF10 Mailto links to gmail no longer populate email address, subject, or body.

I click a mailto link and this same link (craigslist links) has always populated email address, subject, and body. Now it does not do any of that. Anyone know what the problem might be?

thanks for checking! after numerous tests, i've realized that it must be because i have gmail set as my default email client. so... although gmail recognizes html text links, flash not so much. at least i can stop driving myself crazy with the flash file!

I think the problem is the fact that the emails are on a PPC G5 and in a completely different format that your main iMac (you're on Lion?). There is even a problem between SL and Lion; I just spent hours dragging individual mailboxes from a Lion machine to an SL machine. They wound up in the Import section. And, I just tried it: after you manually put the mailboxes in the appropriate spot and you've rebuilt each mailbox once it appears in Mail, I was able to drag an email from an Import mailbox to my Inbox. But, as I said that was between SL and Lion; don't know if that would work with 10.4 (?) and Lion.
