Drag and drop from Lightroom into Premiere doesn't work in Windows

I recently switched from OSX to Windows and noticed that in Windows, I'm unable to drag and drop from LIghtroom into Premiere. In OSX, it worked fine.
I do this a lot because it's a time saver. I basically use lightroom to find the photo or video clip I need for my editing project and then just drag in right on to the Premiere timeline. Now I have to do the extra step in Lightroom of "show in explorer", then drag the file from explorer to Premiere. Not really a big deal but just curious why it works in OSX and not Windows.
I'm running latest Windows 8.1, Lightroom 5.4, Camera Raw 8.4, and Premiere Pro CC 7.2.2 (33)

You'll have to edit lua code to adapt for Premiere. Not that hard really (e.g. clone, then change the script name and path to executable..), but may be too intimidating for some folks. If you are one of those folks, go for the plugin instead - it's usable via GUI - no lua code - can probably accomplish the same thing.

Drag and drop from Mozilla to PS doesn't work with Vista

On XP I can drag an image directly from Mozilla to Photoshop and it opens it in a new document. In Vista that doesn't work anymore.
Any ideas if this can be fixed

That's the strangest behavior that I would imagine. Are you using the default vista aero theme or you have turned down or using custom theme and visual effects?

I don't understand what you mean. If you are concerned about viruses, in my understanding copying and opening a file from the internet which is what "Save image as" does, is less safe than coping and pasting pixels. Copying and pasting pixels is the same as coping and pasting text from your web browser, it can't execute hidden code. If that was possible everybody will get viruses at the moment text or pixels are displayed on your browser.
By the way when you view a page from the internet, image files are already downloaded in the temp folder of your computer but only the browser uses them unless you open them from there and use in another program. So if you have a virus protection the images are already scanned.

Drag&Drop from Lightroom to Premiere doesn't work! Programming an alternative?

Unfortunally the is no working Drag&Drop ability to drag a videofile from the Lightroom Library into the Premiere Project View.
(This Problem appears only on a Windows machine not on Mac)
This is becaus if you send a (valid) filepath to "Adobe Premiere Pro.exe" as a parameter it doesn't do anything! Why that?!?!?
It makes no difference if you drop a file on "Adobe Premiere Pro.exe" or if you use the windows command shell like "C:/...<path to premiere>.../Adobe Premiere Pro.exe" "myfile.avi" , simply nothing happens - at least with Premiere Pro CS5...
So the Idea is to build an Lightroom Plug-In, that opens an exe-file with the filepaths of the currently selected Viedeos from the Lightroom Library as parameter.
The exe-file should pass the information to an opened Project in Premiere an load the Videos into the Project.
With ExtendScript Tool i can get this behaviour with this code:

I don't think that the Premiere SDK will help me out, because with that I can only build Plug-Ins that work INSIDE Premiere. I need a Executable that can send information/files to Premiere from Outside. The only thing I can think of is to load the right dll-file and call the function() for importing files to Premiere (I think this is what ExtendScript Tool does ), but I don't know how to start, because nothing is documented about the dlls...

I agree, I can't see much reason for drag-and-drop to drag the unprocessed image - in other words, an image that isn't the one that you see when you drag and drop. I can see that just filling this forum with "why the heck does it do that????????" posts. I could be wrong, but I suspect that Adobe won't do that.
But if you do want to drag-and-drop the original unprocessed image, you can do it very easily now. Right click the image, choose "show in Explorer", and then drag-and-drop from Explorer.

Drag and drop Picasa Album Into Premiere Elements 10

I tried to drag and drop videos from an album I made in Picasa into Premiere Elements. No dice. I tried to drag and drop files from windows explorer into Elements. No dice. I have 200 files from various folders all over my machine, assembled in a Picasa album, and I have no way of importing those files into Elements from what I can see. Anyone know how I can do this?
I even tried to be clever, grabbing the Picasa XML file that contains the full paths of each file and then creating a space delimited list (with Quotes around each path) and pasting it into the OPEN FILE dialog. But there seems to be a maximum string length. No dice.
Your help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Yes, the PREL (Project) file is XML, however it is structured for PrE to be able to read (and write) it. If PrE can read the Picasa XML (the structure makes sense to the program), then it just might work.
Unfortunately, I have never used Picasa, so have no idea of its Album files structures. I also cannot recall anyone mentioning working with it, and PrE, but maybe missed that/those thread(s).
Other than the general observation, offered above, I have no useful knowledge on what might, or might not work. However, as you experiment, please update this thread, as it might prove very helpful to others - and I get to learn something!!!!

Drag and drop from Contacts into Numbers not working - any solutions?

I'm trying to get my Contacts into a Numbers spreadsheet. According to the Help files, I should be able to select the Contacts and simply drag them into a Numbers sheet (after deleting the default Table). I've tried this many times over and the drag and drop feature doesn't seem to be working. I can select the contacts and drag them over, but the little contact card remains red when I drag it into Numbers and never turns green to allow me to drop into Numbers. It's the same whether I'm trying to drag one contact or many contacts at the same time. I've also tried exporting a vcard and then dragging that file from my desktop into Numbers, but that doesn't work either. I've tried quitting and reopening both applications, as well as restarting my computer. I'm running OSX 10.8.3 and have installed all new software updates, so I'm just at a loss for what to try next.
Does anyone have any solutions for this problem, or an alternative way to get my Contacts into a Numbers file?

When I tried, it put up a dialog asking me if I wanted to allow Numbers access to my Contacts. Is it possible you tried this and dis-allowed it access?
You might check, anyway. Open Security & Privacy System Prefs, select Privacy tab, and select Contacts from the list of items. Is Numbers listed and is it checked?
Another way to get the contact information into the clipboard is to create an Automator workflow like this:
Open Automator and select Workflow from the options presented.
Drag in the above actions and set the properties as you like. For the Get Contact Information action, you must set the export format to Spreadsheet (tabs).
For the new Text File action, I had to set the Encoding to Unicode (UTF-8) or it would fail.
Select all the contacts you want and then click the Run button in Automator. You can then open the text file with Numbers.
If you envision doing this often, start with an application instead of a Workflow and save it somewhere. Then, you can select your contacts and double-click the Application to export the contacts each time.
The benefit of this method is that you can select all the fields you want to include (at least more than is provided in Drag and Drop).

Can't drag and drop from Preview into Powerpoint

I'm having an odd problem, in that I cannot drag a thumbnail in Preview into Powerpoint. I used to be able to do this in Leopard, wherein I could drag the thumbnail from Preview to Powerpoint (I have 2008) and it would place the picture on the slide, but in Lion and Mountain Lion, it only posts the file path as text. Something similar happens when I try to copy and paste the thumbnail, though it's a different filepath, presumably to the clipboard. I can successfully drag the thumbnail to the desktop, where it copies the file, and then drag that file onto Powerpoint, where the picture then appears.
I suppose my questions are twofold: Is this the normal and expected behavior? And is it possible to revert to the old behavior, under Leopard?

I know Microsoft Office 2011 is Mountain Lion compatible. In fact, Microsoft released updates to it right around the time of Mountain Lion's release to assure compatibility.
I do not believe Microsoft Office 2008 is Mountain Lion compatible.

Drag and Drop from LR to other applications

There was a thread going on D&D from LR to explorer.
The other appliation problem I have is the apparent inability to drag and drop from lightroom into a file transfer window (e.g., file upload with SmugMug).
The quick collection is an awesome way to organize a storyline of images from a shoot, select only the images needed, and prepare a shoot for upload. However, short of exporting to a folder first, is there a way to just drag and drop the file set from a LR view (filmstrip or thumbs) to another app? This would just be providing file handles, and I would be satisfied if it only grabbed the original images (pre-"develop").
Anyone have any luck with this?

No. And not likely anytime soon. Putting a Pointer/alias to SmugMug (if it is an uploader client app, not familiar with it) in the Export Actions Folder for Post Processing from Export is the best you can do at the monemt. To get LR rdits out of LR you have to Export. D&D just isn't going to do that for you.

Can't Drag and Drop from Bridge/Folders anymore. Trashing Preferences didn't work

My Indesign CS4 is acting up.
I can no longer drag and drop from Bridge into my layouts, nor does it work from my PC folders to the layout.
I tried accessing the two preferences folder on my Vista as suggested here: http://indesignsecrets.com/rebuilding-indesign-preferences.php
That didn't work and I don't think the rebuilt worked because the files didn't recreate itself, I had to bring the copies back in.
Any idea what's going on and what to do?

What's happening is the computer is creating a duplicte of the document and placing it in the new location with a new creation date. The original document I wanted to drag and drop into a new location remains where it started as the "original" document and the new copy has this little arrow protruding up from the lower left of its icon.
At first I thought it was an alias, but it's a copy of the document I thought I was dragging and dropping.
What gives here?

That arrow indicates it is a linik to the original, though. This happens if you wish to drag files, for which you do not have permissions to do this operation, e.g. from Library or System folder. I am pretty sure you do not accomplish this operation from/to folders like Desktop or Documents; if so, there is a problem with your system.

If you could drag and drop pages before, it wasn't in Reader. You no doubt had Adobe Acrobat (Pro or Standard) which shouldn't be confused with Adobe Acrobat Reader. They recently added Acrobat to the name of Adobe Reader so the confusion about which product you had and/or have is understandable.

Downloads dragged and dropped from Firefox download window into Outlook e-mail show as file location text.

I have a user who normally can drag files from Firefox's Download window into an e-mail in Outlook and it creates an attachment of that file in the e-mail. However, lately, the dragged .pdf or whatever file only shows up as a text file location like:
\\file:%Downloads%\randomfile.pdf
It's not a link either, it's just the text.
I've tried doing a repair of Outlook.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox 19.
I've tested dragging items from the desktop to the e-mail and it works fine.
I can't drag and drop from the Downloads window to the desktop.
I just wanted to add this user is using Windows XP Pro.

I can confirm that this is an issue with the newest release of Firefox. I just upgraded my Firefox, which was previously 18.02 to 19.0 and now I'm getting the same error. It's a bug.

I manage my music/podcast library on my Vista PC using windows explorer because I don't like how iTunes does it. Then today I can no longer drag and drop from explorer onto my iPod in iTunes all I get is a circle with a line through it meaning "iTunes says no." Any suggestions?
