DreamWeaver CS3 is linking local rather than at site level

I am using Dreamweaver CS on a Mac running OX 10.5.7.
No add ons.
I have several pages that have an embedded MP3 (Insert -> Media -> Plugin) followed by a link that allows the visitor to open the MP3 in another window or download the MP3.
The problem I am having is with the link for the embedded MP3. Dreamweaver has suddenly started coding the link locally. That is, the path it codes points to my local hard drive instead of the site root. ALL other links on my site point to the site root, including the link to the same file that follows the embedded MP3. The embedded link is the only one that is not coding correctly.
I've been going into the code view to copy and paste the second link over the fist link to fix it.
This is what the code ends up looking like:

Save the MP3 file to a folder in your DW site. Then try again.

Thanks for suggestions. Carolyn, I did as you suggested but didn't solve problem. KeeChan, as explained in original post, that is my usual fallback but not all web sites work like that. Try downloading Safari - right click (Ctrl Click) on download button and all you get is the "Download.png" image.
I finally found the answer. A long time ago I had downloaded and used "SpeedDownload" and had deleted it. Somehow, some trace of the app was left behind and the mime association with dmg files was messed up.
You can not get rid of Speed Download by throwing its files away or by using an app cleaner product. You MUST run the Speed Download installer program and select the "uninstall" option to remove it.
My browsers now download dmg files correctly.

Dreamweaver CS3 "Check Links Sitewide" not working

(Windows XP SP2)
I am trying to use Dreamweaver CS3's "Check Links Sitewide" feature. It stops after processing some number of files, without any error message or crash. When I hover my mouse over Dreamweaver, it changes into the hourglass, which indicates that Dreamweaver thinks it is still working. I've left it running for over an hour and it still makes no progress. When I check the Task Manager, it says Dreamweaver is not responding.
I've tried cloaking a number of directories thinking it might be the number of files, but it still halts even when it is checking only 1400 files or so. (It stops about half-way). It doesn't seem to be a particular file making it halt; more like a percentage.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Dreamweaver uses JavaScript internally to perform a lot of functions. JavaScript uses computer memory, and can be slow for large operations. You would need to ask the Adobe engineering team, but I don't think it was envisaged that people would use Dreamweaver to create sites with more than 1,000 files.
As far as I know, cloaking has no effect on things such as checking links. It's designed to prevent files from being uploaded when you perform site synchronization.
If you think there's a bug, or want Dreamweaver to be capable of checking sites in excess of 1,000 files, please file a bug/feature request to Adobe, giving details of what happens when you use Check Links Sitewide now. Linked images rather than Embedded Images

Is there a way to have an image in a Pages document be linked rather than embedded? The intention would be to maintain photo quality but reduce the size of the document. This would be similiar to indesign.

Pahes has not such a function. All you can do is to place a link by hand into the document package folder. This means to show the document in the Finder, do a control-click onto it's icon and choose the item "Show Package Contents" from the appearing menu. Now you will see a new window with all the content of the document in it. Take the images out and place a link with the exact name plus ending of the image into the folder. But be sure to place a symbolic link (type into Terminal: "ln -s <path>/<imageName>", when you have navigated with: "cd <documentPackgeFolderPath>" into the document package folder) or this will not work.
If you think this is the kind of way that works for you than use it. But I think this is no way for a production workflow.

Force used cached/local rather than download "script" each time

in my jsp , i have this

so each time the jsp page is loaded, the browser will gurantee go to the server and download something.js . is there anyway to force something.js to remain in user browser cache as long as possible > 30 days or so... so that the next time user visit the website, this something.js can be skipped and speed up page load time?

I doubt it. Once the user closes his browser, I image the cache is wiped out. Also, it is not likely to keep his browser open for 30 days straight. I don't think this is a good area to look into to speed up your application. Even if you could cache the *.js, I doubt it will speed things up much. In performance tuning, you normally identify the worst bottleneck, fix it, then move on to the next one. Bottlenecks often involve fetching too much data from the database at once (example: fetching all the records from a database table rather than a subset). Also, sending too much information to the display, so much that the user can't possibly use at one viewing. In code, its often creating too many objects.

Outlook clients are connecting to different site public folder rather than same site public folder on exchange 2010

users are unable to expand public folder from outlook, but they are able to navigate through outlook web access.
noticed the outlook connections are connected to other child domain PF server rather than local site public folder server.
due to this issue, users are unable to navigate to pf's , by restarting RPC Client access service , now users are able to connect to local public folder servers.
all the databases are pointed to local pf database. all the settings looks good.
any suggestions would be appreciated.

How about OWA?
If it works in OWA, it seems an issue on the Outlook client side.
I suggest run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
I also suggest make sure the Outlook client has the latest patch.
Also try to re-install Outlook.

Go step by step and test.
Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Click "Reset".
Delete Cookies
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
Click “Remove All Website Data”.
Empty Caches
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
Turn off Extensions if any, and launch Safari.
Safari > Preferences > Extensions

Dreamweaver CS3: Absolute links

Is there a way in Dreamweaver to change all relative links to absolute links site wide? (besides manually typing ../ all over the place)

When I use an hcaccess file to redirect from any of the old links ( with a 404 error) to the new files set-up the browsers can't find the new images and css files unless I add "../" to the paths.
Does that make sense? I would love to hear a better solution!
I'm a little confused. Are all of the new files in the latter location? And are you saying when you have a line in the htaccess file that redirects from Page324.htm to http://www.mysite.com/index.html, the page is not able to find any of the images/css? And - why are you redirecting with a 404 - shouldn't it be a 301?

Dreamweaver cs3 email link

Website's made with a link to an email address (mailto:email address). The link isn't working but on the website it shows as it reads... mailto:email address. Please HELP!

That code is a jumble. You've got a lot of things that could be "cleaned up". You've got inline styles on every page, and that makes each page look different - not a good design choice.
The email link doesn't show because you put the Footer outside of the content wrapper.
Take the </div> before the footer tag, and move it to after it.

Analysing forms locally rather than Adobe online

Hello. I need to do a series of community surveys (vox pops) and was planning on creating forms with Adobe and loading them onto iPads (versions 3 & 4). I have a found an app that will allow me to fill in the forms while conducting the vox pops with the community participants. I will also be able to store/email myself with the completed surveys. My question is, can I then analyse and create/export the results locally without uploading the finished surveys online? (it seems that the only way to use the analyse functionality of the program is by uploading to FormsCentral ??). I am conducting the surveys on behalf of my State Government, who have raised privacy concerns about using 3rd party servers. Hence me creating the forms myself and not using one of the billion online survey companies. Many thanks. (FYI, if needed, I am on 2007 or 2008 exchange server and operate 2010 Office on my PC).

If there are privacy concerns with web servers there will be much larger privacy concerns with sending personal data through email, which is as secure as a postcard.
I recommend you use HTML forms which submit through https (not http) to a secure server you control. You can also use PDF forms, but you should establish there is a good reason for the extra complexity.

How can I get Safari 7 to open to my homepage rather than Top Sites?

Not sure why I would want to open to Top Sites all the time... I'd like my homepage back but I can't figure out how to get Safari 7 to open to my homepage now.

Visit the Apple site you want to be set as Homepage.
Safari > Preferences > General > Homepage:
Apple site should show up and highlighted.
Click the "Set to Current Page" button at the bottom.
Select "New windows open with "Homepage" and
"New tabs open with "Homepage".
Launch Safari, if the Homepage is not opening by default, hold shift key down and launch Safari.

Help - Web Service Operation-level (rather than end-point level) policies

you can associate a policy at the end-point level, or the operation level.
I'm wondering if the service implements policy at the operation level, what is required from a client perspective to set SecurityPolicyFeature just for a specific operation?
Or, does one have to continually keep requesting a new port with the appropriate feature for each operation?
e.g.

As Bethune mentioned, the WSS implementation that is part of WebLogic does support operation and message-level policy attachments, but Oracle Web Services Manager (OWSM) does not. The SecurityPolicyFeature you reference in your sample is from OWSM. Do you mind sharing any more details about your use case (and specifically why you would have different policy for different operations) that I could share with OWSM?
In the meantime, your workaround is a good one (different port instances).

Versioning of project rather than at process level.

Our process is quite large and complex and as the business's policy changes we need to change this to meet so we can't really avoid making changes which break the compatibility of the processes when we re-deploy.
Our project contains one main process which is the entry point to the workflow and numerous subprocesses. We're looking for a way so that if an
instance is created in a version of a project then all the corresponding subprocesses will apply to that version.
A scenario that might better highlight what I mean is as follows:
We had a subprocess SubProcessA which was referenced at a certain point in the main process of our workflow. For business reasons we had to
split some of the activities in here out into separate processes: SubProcessA_Part1 and SubProcessA_Part2. We did this, and deployed the new process, which
worked fine for new instances. However there were existing instances in the old main process (now deprecated). When these reached the point in the deprecated process where they would have created an instance in the subprocess (SubProcessA) they were unable to do so and created an error, because this process was now deprecated. We'd assumed that when all the processes in an old version of the project were deprecated, then instances
already existing in the main deprecated process would still be able to create instances in the associated deprecated subprocess, but this was not the
case.
So what we have been doing is when we make changes to the project we "version" the subprocesses; SubProcessA_v1,SubProcessA_v2, keeping the "old" version active and deployed so that as instances in the now deprecated main process reach the point that points at subprocess which has changed we can be confident that it is using the correct version of that process. So what we're needing to find is a method by which we can be confident that instances still live in the older deprecated versions of the process can create instances in the corresponding versions of the subprocesses.

I've come across a similar issue to this, and I've come to the conclusion that the process versioning system in ALBPM/OBPM doesn't actually work very well for projects that contain a lot of subflows and expect all of the processes and subprocesses in the project to work together as a version even when deprecated.
If you deprecate your project then all of the instances in a process will continue to live on in that process version. That's great, but if all of the subprocesses in the project are also deprecated, what happens when we hit one of these and it tries to create an instance in one? Should it create an instance of the new version of the process, an instance of the deprecated version (don't think this is possible) or fail?
I have to say I find the versioning functionality particularly confusing, and the documentation on versioning does little to clear this up or give advice on the matter.

Linking rather than embedding movies

Hi,
I have been using Keynote for several years and have always embedded my movies within my presentation (i.e., selecting "copy audio and movies into document" during the initial save). Despite embedding the movies, I still keep a local copy of each in the same directory.
I'd like to, at the very least, link to rather than embed movies in future presentations, but don't know how that will affect portability. I often create my presentation on one machine and present using another. To that end:
1) Does anyone know how Keynote stores the location of media files that are not embedded? Are they absolute or relative?
2) Also, is there any way to "undo" embedding in existing Keynote files for which I had selected "copy audio and movies..." the presentations were created?

Yes, you can do this, but this is a bit kludgy in my opinion.
I'd rather not HAVE to know that there is a font in the library
that I need to use. I'd rather be able to take the font of a
textfield that I am already using and then use the font that is
already embedded in that textfield to create create new textfields.
Creating a font symbol in the library is just adding extra
weight to the SWF file. If I have a textfield on the stage that
already has the font outlines, then adding the same font to the
library is just extra weight. But again it's not just a weight
issue - I'd rather not have to know that the font is in the library
to begin with.
I'd rather be able to say "Hey, you know that textfield on
the stage? well, use the same font for a new textfield? What's the
font that the textfield is using? I don't know and I don't care.
Just use the same font."
