Dreamweaver CS3- scrolling image marquee

Hi,
I purchased Adobe Creative Suite 3. I would like to learn how to create animated images. Is this something that Dreamweaver can do or would I need to use another program within the Suite. I am new to the Suite.
How can I create a scrolling marquee of images. I would like these images to scroll left to right horizontally across my home page. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Dreamweaver is not an image editor. It's an HTML authoring system. For
animated images (depending on what you mean by "animated", and what kind of
images they are), you would need to use either Flash, or an animated GIF, or
some javascript function like JQuery, or other third-party sources provide.

You can certainly *do* this in DW, but DW doesn't provide an 'easy button'
approach to it. You would have to either find, and then integrate the
required functions in your page using DW, or find a suitable DW extension
for it. Of course, you could always make a post over on the main
Dreamweaver forum to get a good answer for this, but in my opinion, the best
you can do for this kind of thing would be found here (look at their
slideshow extensions) -

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Remote Image Issue

Having an issue seeing some remote images and not sure what settings will fix it.  I need to include absoulte references in some situations and I cannot see some of the images in design view.
If I have an htm file in the root of the site and do an absoulte reference to an image in a subfolder (the absolute reference includes the full URL ( eg. http://www.mysite.com/images/image1.jpg) I can see the image in design view just fine.  However if I have the htm file in a subfolder and do an absolute reference to an image in another subfolder outside of the subfolder that contains my layout, the image does not display in deign view.
    Example:
    file1.htm is in subfolder /layouts
    image1.jpg is in subfolder /images
I do an absolute refence in the code http://www.mysite.com/images/image1.jpg = Cannot see the image1.jpg in design view
If I move the image into any subfolder with the same subfolder as the htm file, the issues is fixed.

    image1.jpg is in subfolder  /layouts/images
I do an absolute refence in the code http://www.mysite.com/layouts/images/image1.jpg = I can see image1.jpg in design view
I tried the different site settings for relative refference from Document to Site root and neither seemed to fix the issue
I recently moved over to CS3 from 2004MX and have a lot of files that are affected.  I am hoping to not have to do a lot of restructuring to fix this

DW CS3 does not try to map remote images to your local folder, so make sure that your they exist in your remote site.
Also note that DW CS5 loads remote images in a background thread, so your pages will load much faster.

  • Jagged Edges on Images in Dreamweaver CS3

When placing an image with a transparent background in Dreamweaver CS3, I keep encountering ugly jagged
edges, whether I save the image as a .png or a .gif.  I've tried everything I can think of to eliminate this problem,
    and still the same results.
The only thing that has worked to eliminate the jagged white edge has been to place a background layer behind the image,
but that poses yet another problem because the hex colors in Photoshop and Dreamweaver will not match either.
    Frazzled!!  Somebody please help!

That's not a problem with DW. The jagged edge you see on your phone image is a jagged edge on your phone image!
I got a bit of a better result after about 5 minutes fumbling with the eraser in Photoshop:
    http://www.martcol.co.uk/test/phone.html
It shouldn't take too much to get your original good enough to lose that jagged edge.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Not Displaying Some Images

    Hi,
About a week ago, certain images that have always displayed
correctly within Dreamweaver started appearing as the "broken page"
icon. A table background image I just created today decided it was
going to act up as well. These images display fine in all the
browsers, and the web pages I'm designing look right. But not being
able to see these images within Dreamweaver makes designing very
    difficult. Any ideas?
I am using Dreamweaver CS3 on a Mac Pro at work.

  • How to create an image marquee for Dreamweaver

    Hello,
I would like to know the best image tool to use for a Dreamweaver homepage site to create a simple three images marquee? Should I use Photoshop, Flash or fireworks?  Which application is the simplist way to do this?  I am a beginner using Dreamweaver 5.5.  Take a look at this site to see what I am trying to do. http://www.eventcouturempls.com/home

The one you linked to uses Flash, but you can easily create one without Flash. Google image slider and you will get plenty. A couple I have used and liked are nivoslider and WOW slider. They both run off jQuery.
To put the slider on a homepage, you will use a combination of Photoshop/Fireworks (for the images) and Dreamweaver to code the slider into your page.

and drag the file. Copy and pasting the code from another page
won't even work. The only way it works is by typing in the raw code
into code view. I get a strange warning when I try to copy and

mark-up and there's no a single speck of Java Script anywhere. I've
also get other strange warnings while trying to put in images:
floating bugs.html, margin bugs.html, and others (sorry this is not
verbatum, but you get the idea). I've tried shutting dowm the
computer and rebooting, but that didn't help either. When I
switching over to MX 2004, same files, I was able to insert images
in all of the various ways mentioned above. So I'm thinking, maybe
I should uninstall Dreamweaver CS3, and reinstall from disk. So, I
did the uninstall, and emptied my trash, but haven't reinstalled
yet. Thought that I should run this by the forum first. thanks for
any help. Yesterday I got multiple sudden unexpected "quits" while

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Image Viewer Flash Element

Here at Cleveland State University, I offer basic training
classes for most Adobe products. We are in the middle of a complete
    overhaul of the
    http://www.csuohio.edu space. Our
goal to is to create an attractive, website with a consistent look
and feel that makes it easier for our faculty and staff to update
on a more frequent basis. In doing so, we have created a series of
pages that can be easily edited in Dreamweaver CS3. One item we
would like to fully support is the DW CS3 Image Viewer - Flash
Element. However, we have hit a small layout snag.
On the main pages of most college and departmental sites, a
specific space with a finite size is set on a web page for the
image viewer. A site editor then creates images in Photoshop that
are that exact size. The image viewer element is configured to be
that exact size as well. Furthermore, the picture "frame", title,
caption and controls are hidden in the Flesh Element panel.
However, when the page is previewed either in Dreamweaver or in a
browser, the images have been shrunk. There is always a border,
whether it is white or some other color. I assume the color is the
stage color of the Flash .swf file. This causes a misalignment of
the images and the other text.
Another issue is the links that automatically created. Some
of our editors have asked me why, even though they specifically
leave the imageLinks area blank, links seem to be created pointing
    to the Adobe.com website.
My questions: is there no way to force the Flash element to
respect the size of the pictures so that no border is showing? Is
there no way to leave the Im
I've done a search on the Adobe.com support site and on the
web and noted that several people have posted questions concerning
this. Unfortunately, no one seems to know what to do about it.
I can send links if you would like to see an example. I'd
greatly appreciate any help you can give me.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 - Cannot create root and image folder in Site Management. (Create New Site)

    Good day everyone,
I am not able to create folders for a new site in Dreamweaver CS3.
    This is the problem:
    I open Dreamweaver
I go to site and click on create new site
In the new site panel I name the site eg: Test Site
Then I click on the browse folder to attached a root folder and image folder for the site
This is where the problem starts, when I browse to the folders, Dreamweaver does not keep the location/path.
Like this: My folder is created in the following directory.
    C:\xampp\htdocs\my_site_folder
So when I browse to this folder and click save
the path does not stay in Dreamweaver, all the stays is this.
    C:\xampp\htdocs\
The site name does not remain.
I cannot get Dreamweaver to hold the path.
    Same for the image folder.
I noticed this started to happened after I updated Vista to Service pack 2.
I have never seen this happen before.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks.

  • Cannot Move images freely on Dreamweaver CS3

So I just got Dreamweaver CS3 today and this is my first
exposure to the program. I have a problem though.
I cannot drag an image on top of another one without it
snapping to either the top, bottom or sides of the image I am
dragging it on top of. I have extensive experience in CorelDraw and
in that program you can drag images ANYWHERE you please and it
doesn't matter what layer that image is in. What settings must I
change so that I can move images freely?
More detailed description of my problem:
I have designed a large image for my background and I want to
drag a menu that I designed on top of that one. Both images are JPG
format. When I try to drag the menu image on top of the larger
background image it snaps usually above or bellow the larger
background image - it never stays on top of the background
    image(where I want it).
What must I do to fix this?
    Please help me.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nick Hall

Sorry, but DW is not CorelDRAW. You cannot successfully just
    drag pieces
about and plop them where you want. The positioning of page
    elements is
controlled by a combination of (X)HTML & CSS. Until you
    become comfortable
with both of those DW will be a constant frustration.
    www.sitepoint.com is
but one of many good starting points. I find their books to
    be very good.
Look for something that focuses on (X)HTML & CSS for
    beginners.
    Good luck.

I'm using the Dreamweaver CS3 Image Viewer component to make

I've set the ImageLinkTarget parameter to "_blank". However,

  • Problems occuring in dreamweaver cs3 when inputing text/images

    Hi All
I am having troubles with my version of Adobe dreamweaver cs3. I am creating a newsletter and have my stemplate all layed out, but everytime i go to paste text from a word doc my table goes wrong. My pixle width is 650 it then increases when adding the information. I have also been having trouble with inserting pictures, i want some aligned left and some right. Everything is ok on screen in dreamweaver but when i go to view it on the web the pictures do not align the way i want them to. The colums also have a mind of there own and seem to constantly need me to retype their width value.
My newsletter is not too straight forward but i would have thought that dreamweaver would be able to cope with the way i have set it up. Because i studied the graphic side of design instead of the web side I have never been tought how to use dreamweaver in depth and have just picked it up myself.
Is there a setting somewhere that i have missed that might be causing it to do these things?
I hope someone can help me i have been struggling with this for months

Here is the base Dreamweaver code including the pic references that I'm trying to show on either side - when the browser opens, it only shows a blank space where the pics should be... let me know what you think.  Thanks!!
