Dreamweaver CS4 installs OK, but fails to open.
Just starting out with Dreamweaver CS4. Installed from DVD, all OK, but when I open, Dreamweaver starts for 2 seconds then closes - no error messages.
Loaded the Adobe Support Advisor and it says "unable to update an installed font when installing the adobe suite4products" and refers to issue id# 18470 "unable to readf Adobe file version for path /Library/Fonts/MinionPro-Bold.otf" on MAC OSX. However the solutions seem quite daunting to me, the errors don't quite match and also I'm running Windows Vista Service Pack 2.
I do feel a bit let down by Adobe as the install process was very slick, great for the novice and no chance of any mess ups (seemingly). Now, I'm feeling I need a Computer Science degree to sort out my £95 Student Edition software (unfortunately, I'm taking Psycology & Sports Science!!).
If anyone can confirm what's going on and say easily what I need to do, your help greatly appreciated.

I have a clean install of a recently purchased copy (10.0, build 4117) of Dreamweaver CS4 (twice now). I start DW and do absolutely nothing except exit. The program seems to close ok and all windows are closed. However, I cannot runb DW again, if I do , it just hangs during startup at some point before any windows are opened. A look at the task manager shows the previous instance of CS4 is still running. If I kill dreamweaver.exe then I can run CS4 again.
If I use DW then everything seems to work ok and all of the extentions I have purchase install and work fine too. I even imported a large NetObjects website and is was 100% correct (I was surprised).
I have removed AVG, I do not have an Acer, I have renamed the config folder and I am about to throw the towel in.
I have checked the registry and all is ok with the hives.
The system is: AMD Athlon X2 running XP-Pro SP3, 2GB Ram, 2 X 300GB HDD with plenty of free space, no internal firewall, AVG removed (after scan), ATI Graphics. I have never had Dreamwaever on this PC before and all extensions are now removed.
For any techies reading this I discovered that, after clsing DW, the task is still running with 17 threads. Slowly, at about one per minute, the number of threads drops to 12 but drops no further even if you leave is 24 hours.
The installation was fault free (both times!). The program loads ok and works ok. So, why does a fresh copy of DW with no website created or any configuration changes of any form fail to shutdown correclty?
Any ideas?You've already tried the suggestions I normally make if there is a problem with running DW... I really can't help you with your problem and as no-one else has submitted a reply generally there's no-one with an answer.
I can only suggest that you contactAdobe Support and outline what you just did in your post here... hopefully they'll be able to sort this o9ut for you.

Dreamweaver CS4 Installation Fails after 95% installed
Hello,
I am just so fed up with trying so many re installations of Dreamweaver CS4 in my sony vaio.
I just booted up in simplified mode, turned off Mcafee,windows firewall,used windows cleanup script,adobe cleanup script.After all I am getting the same error s below one.please help me in clearing this problem.

I upgraded from Dreamweaver CS4 to CS6. but now when I want to upload I get "an TFP error occured - cannot make connection to host". I spent hours with the host technician and we cant find the error. I reinstalled DW4 and it connects to host perfectly. Anyone else seen this problem?

None of these issues are causing the error in DW CS6. We have double checked all of them and we have everything exactly right. Also I have exactly the same SiteSetup in DW CS4 and that works perfectly well. Could there must be factor in 6 that didn't exist in 4? Something that isnt in the SiteSetup but in some hidden dialog box ?
I can also upload to my host using Fetch, a third party FTP. And as I said DW CS4 works fine. So the problem is not with my host, its with DW CS6 in particular.Thank you Jon, that fixed it perfectly. You have saved me from going crazy. The only difference I see now is in "Server Name" it changed what I had entered (my ftp address) to "Remote Server"; which seems odd -- but it works! Although I know there maybe also some other dialog box I have never seen
Of course I saw that menu item "Import" and but I thought thats obviously not for me: "Why would I want to import an entire website?". I did not however see "Export the selected site" for thats only a tiny icon in the footer. However I would have thought the same: "Why would I want to export my entire website?".
An observation: I've seen this problem in a lot of Adobe software, the menu-names of items are obscure, non descriptive. What would be better would be for the menu names or popups to say "Export Site Setup settings" and "Import Site Setup settings" -
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library after Dreamweaver CS4 installation

I just finished installing Dreamweaver CS4 and I have some issues to have it up and running.
When I open an .html file and then try to insert an image via the right menu button I get to browse and locate the image but when I select it, I get the following error message:
If I try to insert it by using the top menu path: Insert>Image... I get to select the image but as soon as I select it I get the following error message and then my computer crashes:
Adobe support recommended me to install Windows SP 3 for Windows XP Professional and also update my Microsoft Visual C++ by installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistrutable Package (x86) (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03-4391 -8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf).
I did both things and I still keep getting the same behavior... any ideas on how to fix it?

HLAdobe support encouraged me to create a new user profile in my computer and log-off/log-in as a different user to see if the issue can still be reproduced while being logged as a different user.
I figured out the way to do this with my IT department (I'm in an enterprise network) but I still experience the exact same behavior...
I have my IT guys testing if installing the application in a similar machine would give the same error... if anyone has any other ideas, I'll be more than grateful to hear them...

Adobe software trials download but fail to open
Hello.
I am having issues downloading Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. I am working on a PC Windows XP, I’m guessing from 2004. Attempted to download Illustrator via Cloud. Tried opening the program; it loaded for a few minutes and then came up with the following message “This program has encountered a problem and needs to close. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
Then downloaded InDesign with no assisting program – directly from the website. This also failed. I tried removing the program, then downloading it again in a different location but this didn’t help. I repeated this process many times, trying several different locations but no luck. The software will actually download, but will not open. When I attempt to download it, in the Adobe Download window (the destination download folder options), there is a yellow symbol with an exclamation mark next to ‘Adobe InDesign’ and the file size it will be.
I thought there was not enough disk space but even after I tried clearing space the program did not open. I am fairly certain disk space is not the issue as my computer is telling me I have enough space for the InDesign Download.
I also read somewhere that the reason why InDesign may fail to open is that the default printer may not be connected. I connected the default printer, downloaded the program again and the problem was not rectified.
I also have tried downloading Adobe Photoshop and in the destination download folder options, the yellow exclamation symbol does not appear. However, this program too crashes after I open it. Unlike with InDesign, I get to Photoshop’s menu system but after a couple of minutes loading it comes up with the message: “This program has encountered a problem and needs to close. We apologise for any inconvenience.” Someone pointed out on another forum that I needed to download SP3 which I did, and Photoshop ran for about 6 hours before crashing.
Have tried downloading Illustrator but will load for a few moments before crashing.Cecliicious4 to confirm you did upgrade on April 8 to Windows XP Service Pack 3 per your previous discussion at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1187050 correct?
If so then you may also want to look at the system requirements for Photoshop and InDesign, you can reference them at http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/tech-specs.html, and verify there are no additional system requirements which have not been met.
You may also want to do additional maintenance on your system to verify you are not running into overheating issues which could be causing the computer to crash. I mention this since you have indicated you are attempting to install the latest Adobe Creative Software on a 9 year old computer. The amount of dust inside the case, if never cleaned, could cause all kinds of unpredictable effects similar to what you have described above.
Finally you can verify the installation was completed successfully by reviewing your installation logs. code. OS is Vista Ultimate 32 bit SP1. Tried with firewall off, Did
regsvr32 jscript.dll and regsvr32 vbscript. Rebooted twice. Nothing
seems to get me past this point. Adobe tech support is closed for
the weekend. Can anyone help? I don't think I want to buy this
thing if I can't even get the trial version installed. ChuckAcer computer by any chance?

MMC can't open the file "C:\......SAPMMC.MSC"
Because file may not be exists or not an MMC console or was created by a later version or sufficent access right to the file

the program (Ae trial version) did download to my desktop, but it keeps failing to open.check your file size to see if you have a complete download.
if you're having trouble completing the download, try a different browser and/or a different (wired) connection and/or a download manager. -
ITunes installs properly, but will not open
I have just upgraded from iTunes 6.0.1 to 6.0.2
Everything installed correctly, and I am receiving no error messages; the program simply will not open. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, and I have exactly the same problem each time.
My music files (including ones that I purchased from Apple's music store) will open with other players, but will not open with the newly installed v6.0.2
I am running Norton Internet security, but the problem still occurs after I disable the program.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Gateway 400VTX Windows XPWell, that annoying. So, I am a bit confused here. Does iTunes launch at all or sometimes? BTW, You need to Configure Norton to allow iTunes to open. Otherwise, it will continue to block it silently.

Itunes Installs Correctly, but will not Open

I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes for Windows XP and I installed it correctly yet when I attempt to open it the hourglass appears for a second and then disappears and no iTunes. I tried to open it with the process list in front of me and saw that it indeed opens but then disappears off the list. Please help. I do not have any firewalls running, am an administrator on my computer, have tried uninstalling-reinstalling several time on different Windows accounts but nothing has worked.
Please help me. Thank You.I'm having the exact same problem I think. Spent about an hour on the phone with tech support, installing and uninstalling to no avail.
Basically, when I would click on the itunes icon, it would try to open.Sometimes, a white EULA screen would pop up VERY fast and close immediately....I couldn't click on anything. Other times, nothing except hourglass. Same behavior as others in task manager.
Tried opening things up in safe mode and got much further. It wouldn't open everytime...sometimes, I have to shut down in task manager a couple of times, but it would open eventually. Once I couldn't open and had to shut down, but it does eventually open.
Now here's the important part (I think): After accepting the EULA in safe mode, I get an error message that says " iTunes has detected a problem with your audio config. Audio / Video playback may not operate properly." Everytime I open it now in safe mode, get the same message. In normal mode, iTunes behaves exactly as before (.exe pops up in TM, but does nothing and closes) with no error. So I'm thinking that this "audio config problem" is causing iTunes to shutdown in normal mode.
I'm still working on figuring out how to get rid of error. I've tried disabling everything under Sound in device manager...no help. I also tried removing Windows Media PLayer's association with all files thinking one file type may have 2 default programs.

Dreamweaver CS4 installation problem (hang)
Hi guys,
I have tried to install DW CS4 or CS3 by doing all the different steps suggested:
- firewall and antivirus stopped,
- editing ContainerProxy.js,
- registry cleaning,
- uninstall all Adobe products,
- run Setup from ...\Adobe\Installers\435a6af7459cb02a9c1138113a26e93 for the CS3 version,
- run it with several windows installer version,
- using the CS3 and the CS4 cleaner, etc.
But the setup process always hangs in the task manager forever (the CS3 version consuming 10MB RAM and the CS3 with 30MB).
For the CS4 version neither the temp installer folder is created.
Any other desperated action, please?

Itunes 9 Upgrade. Installs OK, but fails to run with 'Unknown Error(-50)'
Been running Itunes versions 7/8 very happily. Upgraded to 9.0 today. After installing, which reported no problems, Itunes failed to run, reporting a missing reference in CoreFoundation.dll. I tried a re-install, but with no improvement. I the un-installed Itunes, re-imported the Itunes 9 setup file (88Mbytes), re-installed the product, and still it does not run, reporting a -50 Unknown Error.
Not exactly impressive! I'd be grateful for any ideas, including how to revert to version 8. Thanks, juThanks for the pointer to the KB article. Error 1 is missing from the list provided by iTunes (more information), but I was afraid it means hardware. Will try on another computer, but I'm afraid the phone is sick.
