Dreamweaver displays differently Mac & PC

I have a file that renders fine in Dreamweaver MX or CS5.5 for Mac but in CS3 or CS5.5 for Windows it won't display correctly. It renders fine on the web. The issue seems to be with the interpretation of the CSS in the Windows version. The page backround which is supposed to be white renders navy blue and the headings which are anchors (using #tag) render as white on a white table so they can't be seen. Does anyone know of any specific quirks in the Windows versions that would cause this?

So you have 3 versions involved, MX, CS3 and 5.5.  The MX and CS3 will both render different from one another and from CS5.5.  The 5.5 version on Windows and Mac should render the same in all views.  However, you should only worry about Live View and the browser and not Design view.
If you are having issues with things not rendering properly you should first run your page through the validator and if you need further assistance we will need to see one of the pages in question.

  • Fost Displaying Differently in Different Browsers on Same Computer

    Why would a font display differently on the web page depending on the browser? If the font is installed on the computer (a Mac), isn't it available to all browsers?
    The specific problem I am having is with Palatino shadow. (The shadow is important, as it increases the contrast of the text against the image background.) The shadow shows up in Safari but not in Firefox.
    Why would this be?

    Firefox doesn't do shadows in the current version.

  • Help with Dreamweaver CS6 for Mac

    I am a long time user of Dreamweaver CS 5.5 for PC and recently purchased an IMac. I have a trial version of Dreamweaver CS6 for Mac and am having difficulty displaying an html file in Live View. I always used "Preview in Browser" in CS 5.5 and need this same feature. I have an active site that I imported into CS6 and the site uses templates. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks,  Jim

  • Embedded fonts display differently in mx and spark

    Hi there,
    My apologies if this is an known issue but I have not been able to find any posts describing this problem. As the title of the discussion describes the problem I see is that when embedding the same font for spark and mx components they display differently to the point of making the application look sloppy. I created a small app to illustrate the problem:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:Application
        minWidth="955" minHeight="600"
        xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
        xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
        xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx">
        <fx:Declarations>
            <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here -->
        </fx:Declarations>
        <fx:Style>
    @namespace s "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
    @namespace mx "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx";
    @font-face
    src:url("arial.ttf");
    fontFamily: arialCFF;
    embedAsCFF: true;
    @font-face {
    src:url("arial.ttf");
    fontFamily: arialNoCFF;
    embedAsCFF: false;
    advancedAntiAliasing: false;
    s|Label
    fontFamily: arialCFF;
    fontSize: 20px;
    mx|Label
    fontFamily: arialNoCFF;
    fontSize: 20px;
    </fx:Style>
        <s:layout>
            <s:VerticalLayout
                paddingLeft="10"
                paddingTop="10"/>
        </s:layout>
        <s:Label text="This is a label that uses spark"/>
        <mx:Label text="This is a label that uses mx"/>
    </s:Application>
    I used the Arial.ttf font I found in my mac, though I have also tried with courier new and even the myriad web pro provided with an example in the SDK. Also I have tried with SDKs 4.1, 4.5 and 4.5.1. I have played with the value of advancedAniAliasing as well. Regardless of the combination I will still see differences such as this:
    Is this a known issue? Any solutions at hand?
    Thanks in advance for the help!!

    Hi there,
    Thanks for the quick reply. I was able to make fonts display correctly after hacking the display of some components (mx.controls.FormItem for example) however I did notice a whole buch of runtime warnings that showed up as a result of the workaround such as:
    warning: incompatible embedded font 'arialCFFFont' specified for mx.core::UITextFormat. This component requires that the embedded font be declared with embedAsCFF=false.
    TextFieldAutomationHelper:captureSelection() - 'selectionBeginIndex' is not implemented in FTETextField.
    And in some cases for components I do not even use:
    warning: incompatible embedded font 'arialCFFFont' specified for mx.controls::TextInput (TextInput1967) . This component requires that the embedded font be declared with embedAsCFF=false.
    Any ideas on how to avoid this noise or do we have to live with this?

  • Who uses Dreamweaver CS3 on Mac OS X?

    Howdy,
    I'm curious to know how many of you here use Dreamweaver CS3
    on the Mac? Not bothered bout you Windows users, I've used it on
    there and it's fine (although bulky and slow).
    I made the switch to mac a long while back, and coming from
    Windows and HomeSite (oh how much I love homesite!!!) the natural
    move was to go to Dreamweaver. So I bought a retail copy (along
    with PhotoShop CS3) for quite a bit of cash, and I don't use CS3 as
    its pretty damn awful on OSX!
    By the way, I NEVER touch the WYSIWYG part of Dreamweaver
    (wish I could delete all WYSIWYG stuff from it, as that what slows
    it down I'm sure)
    To name a few bugs (I'd like to know if you experience these
    too):
    1. It's very slow and bulky, I mean just moving the cursor to
    a new line in code view is slow, just doesn't feel good. It
    actually feels like its about to crash on me any minute! And I'm on
    a 6GB 8 cOre 2.8GHz Mac Pro... so its not my Mac :)
    2. I set my toolbars up to my own preference (i.e. I like to
    have the "Standard" menu showing and the "Document" one not) then
    suddenly out of the blue "Standard" has gone and the "Document" one
    is there. Sometimes I boot up and all is good, open a document and
    it disappears (along with the line numbers on the left), right
    clicking says its still there but it isn't.
    3. Certain folders on the left file view REFUSE to close! I
    collapse them, open another folder up (uncollapse) and what do you
    know, the other folder pops open again. Close and open dreamweaver
    its open again... I've never manged to close this particular
    folder, dreamweaver really likes it for some reason?
    There are plenty more, but they are the main ones!
    The unfortunate thing is I cannot find a good alternative on
    OS X for syntax highlighting, the fact that HTML elements are
    coloured differently is invaluable to me, and thats one of the main
    things I love bout Dreamweaver (not to mention the global replace
    feature that other IDE's don't include)?
    Bring HomeSite to OS X is what I say :)
    What is your experience of DW CS3 on OS X? Does it all work
    correclty for you? Or are you annoyed by it too?

    I plotted my escape from Microsoft for years before I finally
    knew
    enough about software and the technologies I was using and
    had
    sufficient money to make the leap. (I went for a top of the
    line MacBook
    Pro.)
    On the negative side, I've learned that the Mac isn't a free
    ride.
    Upgrading to Leopard was a wrestling match, as was upgrading
    to Adobe
    Creative Suite (largely because certain sales people sold me
    the wrong
    upgrade package - twice). I'm also bothered by a number of
    annoyances
    that sometimes remind me of my Windows PC.
    However, I'm working with a far greater variety of software
    programs
    than I ever had on my PC, and the annoyances seldom turn into
    the minor
    catastrophes that made life with M$ living Hell.
    So far, Dreamweaver is working fine for me. The biggest
    annoyance is the
    fact that it likes to jump back and forth between "Spaces,"
    though
    Spaces remains my favorite Leopard feature.
    I'm sorry you're having problems with yours - and I was
    shocked to hear
    that that Rosetta crap also applies to Dreamweaver. I'd never
    heard of
    Rosetta until I had some problems with my browsers. Enabling
    Rosetta
    fixed the problem, but, sheez - all that Rosetta business
    sounds like
    something that came straight from Bill Gates' living room. So
    I'm not
    sure if the problem ultimately rests with Adobe, Mac OS X or
    both.
    Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the situation to
    advise you.
    However, if you live near a sizeable Apple store, schedule an
    appointment with their "Mac Geniuses." I've gone in to see
    them at 7
    a.m. a couple times - free of charge - and they were a big
    help.
    If you're using Leopard, I assume you've already installed
    the two
    updates - 10.5.1 and 10.5.2. Ironically, the second update
    appeared to
    create one of the very problems it's supposed to eliminate.
    (Whether or
    not it's actually a problem is a matter of debate in the Mac
    community;
    it hasn't actually caused any problems for me.)
    You might also try posting some questions on Apple's forums -
    http://discussions.apple.com.
    If nothing works, and you do go back to M$, I certainly
    wouldn't hold it
    against you. If Apple and/or Adobe don't have their act
    together, then
    you can't blame people for returning to a platform that
    works. However,
    I have much greater confidence in both Apple and Adobe to fix
    their
    problems in the long run than I do in Microsoft. Even if you
    get
    Dreamweaver to work on your PC, will your other software
    programs work?
    In summary, I've learned that there's no free ride in
    computing. But I
    still prefer my Mac to M$, and I don't believe I've heard as
    many
    complaints about Dreamweaver on a Mac as I have about Vista.
    But do
    whatever's best for you.

    can't restore my iPhone 3gs. Tried 4 different Macs and 1 PC, all issue error response, mostly errror 2001 snd the PC cited error #21. Even tried different USB cable.
    It started by not turning on and it still does not unless plugged in. Then once it displayed a colorless grey screen that said "no service" and the battery symbol said 100 %. After resetting the iPhone it now is recognized as an iPhone in recovery mode.

    sounds like it's time to bring your phone in for evaluation

  • Images displayed differently in Firefox

    I have a Dreamweaver page that displays normally in IE. But when I open it in firefox, one of the elements is displayed differently. Specifically, I have some social media icons that are supposed to be displayed horizontally, and they are in IE. But when I open the same page in Firefox, it displays those same icons vertically. How can I correct that? Thanks.

  • What is the best FTP software for Dreamweaver using a Mac OS X?

    I have tried several FTP softwares that I found listed on th net. None seem to work well. I was able to retrieve all of my web pages off the internet with my current FTP but the FTP  will not list the current changes on the local side.
    I appreciate your help.

    Thanks for answering.
    I had discussed this with a Nancy O on the forum.
    The problem I found was the following. A little history.
    I have done about 45 web sites for clients. I no longer do them except for four pro bono sites.
    Some of the sites have not been updated for over a year and a half.
    I was using PC's for 20 years. I had a glitch and contacted the particular software company.
    They sent me to the Philippines. The person took control of my computer and burned my hard drive.
    In Jan 2012, I purchased a Mac OS X.
    I also purchased Dreamweaver for Mac in Feb of 2012.
    I was able to make changes on a couple of the sites using Dreamweaver and a FTP trial.
    Everything worked perfectly.
    Day before yesterday I had some changes for a pro bono client.
    No big deal or so I thought.
    1st - since I had no FTP now I purchased ClassicFTP for Mac.
    I went to Dreamweaver for the site pages and found that the pages listed on the local side were from pages I did several years ago.
    This was upsetting. I was able to get the remote side (which was current) on the FTP.
    But I could not in any way pull up the current site on Dreamweaver.
    Talking to Nancy O. on the forum, she guided me to the Files on the right of the Dreamweaver display.
    I was able to load the current pages in Dreamweaver.
    After making the changes required I did the proper save on the pages. Note: I had also deleted Dreamweaver and downloaded it again thinking there was a glitch. The same with ClassicFTP.
    Bringing up ClassicFTP the local had the old pages listed again.
    Now I am at an impasse and that where I am at this time. Frustrated.
    So any helpful solution will be appreciated.

  • Syncing iWeb on 2 different Macs

    Is it possible to sync the data in iWeb across two different Macs?
    I've created an elaborate website with it on my Macbook Air and want that data to sync on the Mac Pro. If there's a way to do it, I can't find it.
    Thanks for any help you can give.

    Login to your MobileMe account via....
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Website-Music-Movies/JW-Video-Player.html
    Click the iDisk icon to get to the folders. Click home and then select a folder - I use the Web folder. Click the upload arrow to upload a zip of your domain file.
    If you have a paid MobileMe subscription, you can use Back to My Mac to connect to your other Mac computers over the Internet.
    Using Back to My Mac you can access all of the computers you use with your MobileMe subscription. You can share files and use Screen Sharing to control the remote computer from anywhere you are connected to the Internet.
    To use Back to My Mac:
    On each computer you want to use with Back to My Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click MobileMe.
    Make sure your MobileMe member name and password are entered correctly on the Account pane, and then click Sign In if necessary.
    Click Back to My Mac, and then click Start if Back to My Mac isn’t already on.
    If there are no sharing services turned on, click Open Sharing Preferences and select the services you want to use, such as File Sharing and Screen Sharing.
    To display the computer in the sidebar of a Finder window, open Finder preferences, click Sidebar, and then select Back To My Mac in the Shared section.
    To connect to your Back to My Mac enabled computers, click the disclosure triangle next to Shared in the left sidebar of a Finder window, click the computer you want to use, and then click Connect As or Share Screen.
    Click Stop on the Back to My Mac pane of MobileMe preferences to stop using Back to My Mac.
    Back to My Mac requires a router that supports NAT Port Mapping Protocol (NAT-PMP) or Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) in order to share services.

  • Display Problem: Mac Mini no longer shows up on my Hitachi TV

    Everything had worked just fine for a couple of months and then I started importing a bunch of my CDs. During this process, I did something that made the desktop image from the mac mini larger than that of the TV (So I couldnt see the upper menu and the lower one was partly cut off.
    To try to fix it, I went into the display preferences menu and chose a different resolution (I think was something X something interlaced). When I did that, the screen faded black and I couldnt see anything. For a while, I could see the initial load screen for the mini, but the desktop would never show up and my TV would just say No Sync. Signal.
    Any thoughts? Thanks a ton for your help.

    hermanherman, welcome to Apple Discussions. Generally when this type of issue crops up it can be corrected by starting up in Safe Mode. To start the mini in Safe Mode, after pressing the mini's power button, immediately press and hold down the Shift key on the keyboard until you see a message on the display that Mac OS is starting in Safe Mode. When you see that message you can let go of the Shift key. Hopefully you will have a useable screen at that point. Go into Displays preferences and select your desired resolution. Then restart the mini normally (don't hold Shift) and hopefully your last resolution setting will persist and you will have your screen back.
    By the way, what you were looking for in the first place is an "Overscan" check box within Displays preferences. This controls whether the edges of the Mac desktop will be beyond the borders of the screen or not. Good luck.

  • Using a different .Mac account in iPhoto

    We have a .Mac family pack. My wife and I each have a personal account and we would like to use a completely different .Mac account to post our web galleries, but I don't want to have to create a new user on my Mac just to use iPhoto. Is there a way that iPhoto can use a different .Mac account than the one associated with my user account on my computer to publish galleries?
    Thanks,
    Aaron

    I assume the settings you are refering to gives that delay for marking the messages as read when highlighted for that period of time. Probably for scrolling through the list without changing the unread status. Lion doesn't have that selection, so I can't test that at the moment.

  • 10.4.8 - Six different Macs all with problems since the update...

    We run a business which has six different Macs... all relatively new (3 yrs). Typically we run the auto updates, because that's what we're supposed to do, and we experience little if any problems.
    This last update (10.4.8) has caused nothing but problems - little system hickups here and there. Programs hang. Strange screen anomolies. Laptop trackpad issues (clicks and selections when none were made). I have to say that if Apple is going the way of the Windows machine I'm not impressed - at all. Consider thoroughly test your updates before releasing them on your loyal client base. Seems like a simple concept.
    Is there anything that can be done to limit the impact of the recent update. Backtracking to the last version is not an option, although setting up the system to allow for this will become a part of our workflow in the immediate future.

    Started having problems with my Imac first power supply (replaced under warranty), then HD/Boot issue. I ran disk repair and was advised by support to try to do an immediate backup (purchase external HD) and reinstall OS from CDs. Although I purchased an external firewire HD that day, my HD failed the next day (unable to backup onto new Glyph in time) so I lost EVERYTHING.
    I investigated data recovery options, but just waaay too expensive. So yes, there's nothing like a good backup plan. Lesson learned.
    Today (after a nightmarish struggle to get the computer repaired--different issue) I finally got my computer back with a new HD and logic board.
    So, I rushed home to start reinstalling OS and software. First installed original OS X Panther disks which incl Garageband, no problems (also set up internet to try to register all software), checked for firmware update (none), ran software updates, rebooted). Then I installed OSX Tiger (ran software update...10.4.8, etc, ), started Garageband new song one track piano (using an M-audio keyboard controller i had hooked up but had not yet installed the software drivers) and it worked! Very cool. everything was time-consuming but seemed to be working fine (and why wouldn't it on a brand new HD with all software installed via CD and all updates recommended by Apple?)
    Then, I decided I would next install the GarageBand JamPack CD (before attempting to tackle external HD setup, Pro Tools, synths, etc). So, I saved the "testsong" when closing and received error "Gband unexpectedly quit" and it stopped responding (spinning color wheel). After a few minutes I was able to force quit the application (really didn't think anything of it). Then I rebooted (since it did crash, I did go back and look for a possible software update but said I was up to date).
    I tried to install Gband Jam Pack (1) failed about 95% of the way through while I was trying to complete product registration online. Then I rebooted, tried again failed (during which my internet also stopped responding). I had to then reset the wireless router and cable modem, looked for help online and rebooted.
    I then ran repair disk permissions (it looked like it did a few updates but I did not see any alarming "errors" flash across the screen). I rebooted and tried to install JamPack again, failed, and rebooted (and looked online for another suggestion).
    removed folder: application support/gband/loops/Gband Jampack/ folder into trash then tried to install jampack again, failed, and rebooted.
    removed folder again, ran repair disk utility (did not look like it made any updates or report any errors), rebooted. Tried to install again and failed and rebooted, emptied trash and rebooted again.
    I am now running repair disk utility one more time (10 solid hours into the software installation process ....my internet just stopped responding again so I apparently have to reset the wireless router again just before trying to send this message). I will run repair one more time, and completely power off computer for a couple of hours while I grab some sleep before work.
    But, now I am seeing all these SCARY stories about the 10.4.8 update I just installed?!.
    Are these problems related? Can someone please help me? Surely it cannot be this difficult. Thank you!

  • How to connect a 23" Cinema display and mac mini to an AV Receiver?

    I am trying to get my 23" Cinema display and Mac Mini to a Yamaha RX-2700 AV Receiver. I am on first name terms with the guy in Maplins because I tried to get an Xbox 360 working with this display before and gave up in the end.  The AV receiver has upscaling capability so I thought I'd try again.  I tried connecting a HDMI - DVI adapter to the HDMI Out on the receiver and a HMDI to DVI cable from the Mac Mini to the HDMI in with a optical cable for the sound.  The sound works fine but I get no display - the LED on the monitor flashes three times with a blank screen so it can't read the signal.  Another option suggested was to use a VGA Converter connected to a VGA - HDMI cable but I would like to find out if that would work before going down that route?
    I am looking for some advice about whether this type of configuation is possible with the 23" ACD and if so what do I need to buy to make it work?  I love the quality of my ACD to avoid having to replace it with a TV to get my multi media life in order.
    Many thanks

  • Can we share our photos in the family on different mac´s with Time Capsule?

    Can we share our photos in the family on different mac´s with Time Capsule?

    It depends on the size and number of photos you are sharing around.
    Nothing wrong with putting a copy of the photos on the TC if that works for you. Each person can access the photo just fine like that.
    I am not saying don't.. just beware of the risks so do it prudently..
    But if the library is too large, you will steal space on the TC that should be used for backups.. if all the computers in the network are backing up to it, don't use too much of the spare space.
    Better to buy a firewire drive (or USB but firewire 800 are much faster) and connect it to a computer that is regularly turned on. Share that drive to the network. It will then also be backed up correctly to the TC although again be careful of the amount of files, and still keep a straight copy backup somewhere else.
    I am recent convert so workflow on the Mac is not my forte.. so perhaps some of the wiser heads can also drop in and post a reply.
