Dreamweaver / flash/  xampp

hi,
I am currently designing a website using dreamweaver cs3. I
am using xampp apache as my testing server on my computer which
works fine when i test my site.
I have just added a flash image in dreamweaver by clicking on
insert - media - image viewer and then inserting the images i want
to loop. This works fine in dreamweaver, but when i come to preview
the page on my test server nothing appears where i inserted the
flash image.
Please could you advise what i need to do, as i want to make
sure everything works fine before i host the site on the internet.
I'm using xampp apach as the local test server.

Hello,
When you preview your page, you no only need to upload the
page you just created, but also the flash file you inserted.
I don't know why, but when you preview the page, everything
but the flash files gets imported into your xampp folder. So, just
put that flash file in your xampp folder, and it should
work.

  • Adobe Bridge Buttons in Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks?

    Hello,
    Adobe says that the button to connect to Adobe bridge is in
    every CS3 application. I can find it in Photoshop, Illustrator, and
    even Contribute, a former Macromedia project, but none of the other
    Macromedia projects (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks) have one. Am I
    missing it, or is this a glitch?
    Thanks,
    Dylan

    Go to Edit > Prefs > Enable Version Cue. Once you do
    that look in the lower left corner of the flash
    application - you should see "Open" with an arrow. Clicking
    on it will popup "Reveal in Bridge" button.

  • Dreamweaver & Flash 8

    How do I get Dreamweaver & Flash 8 working with the new Mac OS 10.8.4 on a iMac 2009?

    Studio 8 pre-dates your operating system by 8 years.  It is no longer compatible.  You should highly consider updating to the latest version of the creative cloud.  The only alternative, which is not tested and may not work is to use virtualization software.  There have been kb articles made that you can install 10.6 if you still own a 10.6 disc which may enable you to run the older DW in a virtualized environment.  This is not recommended nor supported.  I personally think 8 years warrants an upgrade.

  • Connecting dreamweaver to xampp database

    I was just wondering if any one knew how to set up a mysql connection from dreamweaver to xampp
    dreamweaver and xampp are running well its just im new to this stuff so there are some things i dont know how to do
    the error code that appears tells me that there is no testing server on the server machine
    and that the testing server for the site does not match the url prefix
    if anyone could give me advice it would be great

    You will have to set up the testing server.
    In the site menu -> manage sites
    choose the site to manage -> edit
    choose the advanced menu -> testing server
    make sure all the paths lead to your site.

  • Dreamweaver Flash Buttons Paths

    Hello all,
    I am a novice site designer. My first challenge is to design a navigation bar once and used by all web pages.  I built it using Flash buttons.  The concept works fine in a flat file, but when I'm viewing a web page that sits in a different directory than the flash navigation buttons, the buttons point to a file in the current directory which doesn't exist. I want the buttons to still point to the flash files in the parent directory.
    I'm using Dreamweaver CS2 to create my flash buttons. I'm using PHP include statements to include my flash navigation bar. When I create the php file in another directory, click on flash button, all heck breaks loose. I look at the URL and the link appends the PHP file that the flash button should be pointing to whatever directory my current web page is in.
    It seems like, I should just create each button  as a absolute path, http://rootdirectory.com/filename.php, but it still uses relative path when I'm looking at web page that sits in another directory and appends the navigation link to the current directory http://rootdirectory.com/currentdirectory/filename.php although it points to a link in the root or parent directory.
    Do I not know how to create flash buttons using the absolute paths?

    If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
    1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
    2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
    not be spidered
    3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
    will those users
    do?
    4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
    move or rename
    a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
    It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
    Adding in frames makes it even worse - you are in the deep
    stuff here. Why
    are you using frames?

  • Can't Use Dreamweaver Flash Embedding with ExternalInterface

    I've been trying to use ExtermalInterface to call ActionScript 3 functions from JavaScript and have been having a problem when embedding SWF files using Dreamweaver. When I use the sample code at the bottom of the ExternalInterface docs page (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS3LCR/Flash_10.0/flash/external/ExternalInterface.html) the JavaScript/ActionScript function calls work fine. But when I insert a SWF with Dreamweaver CS4 they don't. They do actually work in Internet Explorer 8 but not in Firefox 3.5, Safari 4, or Chrome 3.
    The problem has to do with the the way the SWF embedding is done. On the ExternalInterface page mentioned above a different form of the <object/embed> tags is used than in DW. Here's the sample code from the docs page:
         <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
                 id="ExternalInterfaceExample" width="500" height="375"
                 codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab">
             <param name="movie" value="ExternalInterfaceExample.swf" />
             <param name="quality" value="high" />
             <param name="bgcolor" value="#869ca7" />
             <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
             <embed src="ExternalInterfaceExample.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#869ca7"
                 width="500" height="375" name="ExternalInterfaceExample" align="middle"
                 play="true" loop="false" quality="high" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain"
                 type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
                 pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer">
             </embed>
         </object>
    In DW, instead of an <embed> tag a second object tag is inserted. I did find that by manually giving the second <object> tag its own ID (a different ID from the one given the first tag by DW I could make the function call work in FF. But you would then have to choose the ID based on the browser. And, worse, that technique doesn't work in Chrome or Safari.
    So, the workaround seems to be to use the style of embedding used on the ExternalInterface page. But, I don't like that approach for several reasons. First, the page  won't tell the user they need to upgrade their FlashPlayer if that's a problem. Second, you have to manually copy/past the embedding code instead of using DW's nice menu option. And I suspect there may be other benefits to the DW approach,
    So, is there a way to make the DW embedding style work with ExternalInterface in all the major browsers??
    David Salahi

    Very interesting, thanks for your insight. Dreamweaver does seem to be a black sheep in this regard. Curiously, one of the reasons I wanted to stick with DW is because it highlights the <embed> tag in yellow—which normally means an HTML error. Not being entirely up on the ins and outs of the embed tag I thought maybe it's deprecated or something so wanted to avoid it. But now, I've found that it's apparently the right way to do things.
    I did a little testing; here are my results...
    My SWF was originally generated in FlexBuilder (as an ActionScript project) so I copied over the Flex-generated HTML page and modified it for use with ExternalInterface. That works fine in all four of the browsers I mentioned in my original post.
    Next, I grabbed an HTML page generated by Flash's Publish menu option and made the same modifications. Again, everything was copacetic.
    Each of the three tools (Flash, Flex & Dreamweaver) generate different HTML code for embedding a SWF file and only two of them work with ExternalInterface. I guess I'll steer clear of Dreamweaver's Insert-> Media -> SWF menu option in the future. This cost me an entire day of hair-pulling.
    But thanks for your tip!

  • Web: Dreamweaver/Flash hangup

    I touch up my LR-generated web sites in Dreamweaver.
    With 1.1, Flash sites no longer open in Design (layout) mode. Pages display the same error message a non-Flash web browser would display.
    Should I delete that error-generating code from the sites, or do I tweak Dreamweaver somehow?

    Use graphics apps to create graphics only.
    Use DW to build your web pages - HTML and CSS code.
    Insert Flash media into HTML pages when needed. Provide alternate content for devices that don't support Flash.
    Flash only sites are not user- and search engine friendly, also not supported by many devices.

  • Dreamweaver Flash Embedding Problem...

    Hello all,
    Just stumbled across a slight issue which im hoping some of
    you may be able to help me with...
    Firstly I will give a slight bit of background...
    As part of a University assignment, a small Dreamweaver based
    website is to be created. In this case I am doing a small website
    for a local architecture firm (it is a live brief).
    As a total beginner with dreamweaver, ive come across a
    problem which is the final piece of the jigsaw, once this is sorted
    it is pretty much finished!
    Anyways, onto the problem...
    The background to the site is one simple jpeg, with the bulk
    text and the links as part of the jpeg, with basic hot-spots
    covering each element.
    However, I also want to integrate flash movies onto the
    page...
    To do this I created a new layer and placed the flash movies
    into their relevant places.
    When published, the flash elements seem to align themselves
    with the browser window itself, as apposed to the page as a whole
    (which is centred).
    Here is a URL to the test upload (there is a spelling mistake
    and a few other things that I have now sorted ready for a final
    upload once sorted)
    http://www.pnefans.net/LMP/home.html
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thankyou in advance....
    James Lawson

    > When published, the flash elements seem to align
    themselves with the
    > browser
    > window itself, as apposed to the page as a whole (which

    This is how layers work. Their position is offset from the
    location of the
    closest positioned ancestor contaner. When there is none, the
    position is
    relative to the <body> tag. That's what you are
    describing.
    To change that, create a 'closest positioned ancestor
    container' that just
    happens to be one that will center along with the rest of the
    page.
    Change this -
    </head>
    to this -
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    body { text-align:center; }
    #wrapper { text-align:left; width:720px; margin:0
    auto;position:relative; }
    /* change the width to suit */
    -->
    </style>
    </head>
    change this -
    <body ...>
    to this -
    <body ...>
    <div id="wrapper">
    and this -
    </body>
    to this -
    </div><!-- /wrapper -->
    </body>
    and see if that helps.

  • Dreamweaver Flash not compatible with ASP

    I've build an ASP page with DW CS4 that has also a Flash
    element on it.
    When testing the page I've been surprised to see that IIS
    fires an error
    saying that is not alowed to have nested object tags in a
    page. And that's
    exactly what DW does when inserting Flash into a page!!!
    This seems a big problem as it not uncommon to have some
    Flash elements
    inside ASP pages.
    Any solutions for this issue?

  • Dreamweaver, flash button help

    hi i am createing a website using dream weaver and my
    navigation bar has flash buttons as the links to other pages i have
    created, i have the buttons working fine but the users have to
    Double click on the button for the next page to be displayed. Is

    once for the new page to load up?
    i am using Dreamweaver 8, and the code for one of my buttons
    is like this

    can any one help me with this please

    What will happen to those who do not have Flash installed?
    What will search
    engines (which don't read Flash links) do to spider your
    site? What will
    screen assistive devices (which don't read Flash links) do to
    navigate your
    site? What will you do when you move or rename a linked page
    (DW cannot
    manage the links)?
    Most experienced people don't use Flash navigation for these
